I hope you are all doing well. Just a couple of days left before SAMPAOLI’S official debut. Are you all getting excited!? I know I am!
It looks like Lionel MESSI is going to play the match on Friday vs Brazil and then fly off to Rosario, Argentina to continue planning and finalizing the details for his upcoming wedding at the end of this month. There has been word that Nicolas OTAMENDI is also getting married in a few days as well. This means that both MESSI and OTAMENDI will miss the match vs. Singapore.
It also looks like SAMPAOLI has been tinkering with his formations again. This time he included the defender José Luis Gómez. In terms of the formation, SAMPAOLI tried out a new system. He went from a 3-4-2-1 to a 4-2-3-1 formation. Jonatan Maidana replaced Emmanuel Mammana and José Luis Gómez played in his natural right back position. Gabriel MERCADO moved to the left wing back position and so Eduardo SALVIO was dropped from the lineup.
SAMPAOLI’S team during this practice was:
Sergio Romero; José Luis Gómez, Jonatan Maidana, Nicolás Otamendi, Gabriel Mercado; Ever Banega, Lucas Biglia; Lionel Messi, Paulo Dybala, Ángel Di María; Gonzalo Higuain.
Lastly, Nicolás OTAMENDI finished the practice in pain and now is a doubt for Friday’s match. Mauro ICARDI is also sidelined for now.
SAMPAOLI will provide a press conference tomorrow.
What do you guys think? Might this be a better formation for us?

I’m excited! I think Musacchio, and garay will get looked at in the future. Although I know they may not be Sampaoli’s type. Fazio was never gonna make it regardless of his stats with roma. He might get some mins vs Singapore
Musacchio stands a better chance but he needs to play a full season first.

Wonder why he didn’t call up Musachio and Garay, yet he has Fazio, but didn’t give him a chance!

Hey, Higuain is out of form for ARGENTINA. DI MARIA ON THE OTHER HAND IS the ONLY STRONG ATTACKER APART FROM MESSI AND DYBALA. THE BIGGEST PROBLEM IS THE DEFENCE. SERGIO ROMERO NEEDS TO BE REPLACED WITH RULLI BECAUSE HE IS BETTER AND PHYSICALLY BETTER. HE IS TALLER THAN RONALDO WHICH MEANS HE CAN STRETCH OUT. HE BEAT MESSI AND BLOCKED 88.24% OF THE SHOTS MESSI!!!!-MADE ON RULLI! THAT IS SOMETHING TO TAKE NOTE OF. RULLI IS JUST A BETTER GOALKEEPER. ROMERO ALWAYS MISSES SHOTS FROM THE LEFT LIKE NEYMAR AND GOATHEADZ’S (GOTZE) GOALS. RULLI IS BETTER AND WE CAN’T TAKE ANY CHANCES. RULLI HAS GREAT EXPERIENCE AND IS BETTER. PLEASE PUT HIM ON AGAINST BRAZIL!!!!!!!!!! HE WILL PROVE TO BE GOOD!!
Hello to everyone, i have been following this site for a while but was not commenting. Happy to be here.
My one cent thoughts:
I think lot of people are excited to see new coach for our team but let not get too ahead ourselves. First Argentina needs to win remaining matches and qualify for WC. After that i think we can think about winning WC. But i personally think Hugain needs to be dropped; his habit of missing chances have long history from his Real Madrid tenure. I think he has one or two against Barca while playing dozens of classico. This cannot be co incidence. We needs to build team so that Messi play closer to goal so that he can do maximum damage against opposition like in Pep Barca( not Enrique though). I really hope players and coach step in this world cup and deliver it.
I like Mercado as left back.
I liked this one very much. Gomez in team gives more variety. He can play in wingback 3-4-2-1 and he can slot into as RB in 4-2-3-1 too and Mercado as LB( he played as LB under Sampaoli before i saw in Sevilla). I am little bit worried about Midfield. Banega and Biglia has huge and important task to do. They need to compose the game. When to attack or fast play or slow down. I feel like Biglia will do most dirty work and Banega the one who will compose the game and will play more advance role. I hope Sampa gets best out from both of them. It’s just beginning of alot game to play,they will get better every time they play under Sampaoli. I believe they have the ability to dim the Brazilian yellow light.
Is it me or are we the only team in the world who is constantly injured? Now it’s Icardi.
Higuaín should not start. Shit I wouldn’t even call up this choke artist. I could care less if he scores 100 goals every year from now on. The guy couldn’t hit water if he jumped out of a boat with the Argentina jersey on. It was bad enough this guy got the jitters with the national team but now he is slowly eating his way into rugby. Start Alario.

Jose Luis Gomez as a RB, sounds good. Did Tagliafico travel to AUS? I don’t see him on the pictures or videos.
