Match Highlights: Goalscorers galore in Europe and North America

As mentioned in the past few weeks, we will begin to cover more Argentine players from outside of Europe.

This week, as well as goalscorers from Italy and Greece, we also have a few goals from some former Argentine internationals in the MLS from North America. If you missed it, we had goals from Lionel MESSI, Manuel LANZINI and Luciano VIETTO from Saturday. And on Sunday, it was the Mauro ICARDI show as he had a goal and an assist for Inter against Juventus.

Beginning in Italy, Lucas CASTRO scored for Chievo Verona in their 2-1 win against Udinese. CHIEVO pounced on a ball sent into the box as he ran in completely unmarked to give Chievo Verona the win.

Shifting towards the MLS, former Newell’s Old Boys player Maxi URRUTI was on target for FC Dallas in the MLS in their 2-2 draw against New York FC. Former Argentine international and gold medalist at the 2004 Summer Olympics Mauro ROSALES assisted the goal.

The Argentine contingent in the MLS is alive with Diego VALERI (also an Argentine international under Diego MARADONA’s days as coach of the National Team) scoring for Portland Timbers in their 2-1 win against Philadelphia.

In Greece, former Liverpool player, Sebastian LETO (now back in Greece and at Panathinaikos) scored the fourth goal for his club in their 4-0 win against Giannina.

Two more Argentine’s scored on the weekend in Greece. Emanuel PERRONE scored for Iraklis before former River Plate man Alejandro DOMINGUEZ scored the first for his club Olympiacos as they got the 2-1 victory.
