Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni has named his starting eleven for the match vs. Indonesia and Germán Pezzella is the captain.

Lionel Scaloni has made several changes to the team which won 2-0 vs. Australia last week. Emiliano Martínez remains the goalkeeper but it’s a national team starting debut for Facundo Buonanotte.

Here is the starting eleven as Germán Pezzella will wear the captain’s armband:

The Argentina national team play Indonesia on Monday and coach Lionel Scaloni will make several changes to the team which won 2-0 vs. Australia. According to Gastón Edul, Julián Álvarez, Leandro Paredes and Gio Lo Celso will all start against Indonesia.

Lionel Scaloni stated at a press conference on Sunday that there will be “seven or eight changes” to the team. Per TyC Sports, here is the rumored eleven:

Emiliano Martínez spoke in an interview about the current crop of players in the Argentina national team.

Martínez gave an interview to Fede Rodas on DSports about the current Argentina national team and winning the World Cup. Talking about the current team, here is what Martínez had to say:

“We have a new crop of players who are flying with a structure that’s made. We have World Cup winners that are 23-24 years old. I didn’t have their mentality and their winning philosophy at that age.

“I am not going to deny that we aer now the team to beat. It’s tough to keep it up but I see the guys coming back and they don’t want to lose a match. That gives me a lot of confidence so that the ball doesn’t go in.”

He also spoke about winning the World Cup:

“I feel like I completed football. I’m not going to deny that I want to win a Champions League but at the level of Argentine football, we did it.

“I always dreamed of winning a World Cup, not the Champions League.”

Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni has stated that he will make “seven or eight changes” vs. Indonesia.

Lionel Scaloni will be without the veteran trio of Lionel Messi, Ángel Di María and Nicolás Otamend for the match vs. Indonesia on Monday. The World Cup winning coach spoke at a press conference on Sunday about the possible eleven for Monday’s match. Here is what he had to say:

“Seven or eight changes”.

“The level of the national team will not change with these changes. Let’s hope we can live up to the match against Indonesia and what it represents to play with this shirt.”

Scaloni was also asked about Messi, Di María and Otamendi resting:

“Messi is resting. I have decided that he should rest. As much him as Di María and Otamendi, they need to rest. It was already thought about before.

“They played a match with the Argentina national team, which is the most important. Argentina is far above any player. In this case, Leo si not here but the others are there and I hope people enjoy it.”

He was also asked about who will replace Lionel Messi in the eleven:

“Who will replace him tomorrow? No one. No one can play like Messi but we will try to make the team play the same way, knowing that he is a player who is impossible to replace. But yes, the team is capable of playing just as well and with other skills. That is what we will try to do.”

Benfica are in advanced negotiations as they want to sign Valentín “Taty” Castellanos.

Valentín “Taty” Castellanos is a wanted man. While on loan at Girona last season from New York City FC, the Argentine scored 13 goals in 35 La Liga matches.

With his loan move at Girona done, according to César Luis Merlo, they are in advanced negotiations in a deal worth close to €15 million. Other clubs are also bidding to sign the 24 year old striker.
