Julker9 : like you im really suffering from that loss, its hard to explain to people but its very different from when ones supported club loses a final as they have a chance for redemption every year but the w/c is once every 4 years and redemption can be a long way off, so far over 24 years.
the copa would be nice but its not a consolation prize for me.

kh: correct why do players not just accept it and retire from international level when its very obvious they are past it at that level but I can understand as once a player retires that it and you can go back.

I guess its up to the coach to just not pick them.

Leandro: I agree hig should be still called up but for me kun should not be but today he has a another chance and he better take it or he can go.
kun needs to show us the same fighting spirit he does in the man.c shirt.

Solid. As for the foward.. wether Aguero.. Pipita.. Icardi.. i think we need only 1. Id rather see an enganche (Lamela) or disruptive player with good energy and mobility (Lavezzi).. I think the #9 needs to be whomever is hot at the moment.. I still rate Higuain as our best option, his goal stats and his work ethic stand out. I really hope a tall and clinical #9 matures quickly to give him competition..

I agree with Maya, fans suffer the most in this situation. Players have a world full of entertainment, competition, luxury, commercial shooting, etc....

Demichelis, Campagrano, Palacio, Maxi etc should retire from international football after this game..This will make Tata job much easier..Why can't some of these guys just say I'm retiring from international football? Are they still hoping that they will get a call up at age 37 - 40? This what I don't get with these players..Did Cambiasso, Samuel, Zanetti, Milito (not Gabby) announced there retirement from international football? Are maybe they were still waiting for a call up at age 40?

Lampard, Gerrad, Lahm, Xavi, Alonso, Mertsacker, Klose, Drogba etc all retired after the world cup..Why can't our senior members in their late 30's do the same? I'm hoping after this game that all the veterans on our team retire..This will give the coach more wiggle room to work with..Lets say Demi have another solid season with City, then Tata will have no choice but to call him up, if Demi announce his retirement then Tata will have no choice but to select fresh blood like Musacchio and Fazio..The players have as much responsibility as do the coach when it comes to team selection..Some players just don't know when to call it a day.

So this is my request as of September 3, 2014; I want all senior members in their late 30's to retire from the national team...

it's only natural that players won't have much interest playing this game. We couldn't win the WC final when it mattered the most. The result of this game will be utterly inconsequential to say the least. Di Maria can't be blamed for this.

From what di Maria is saying it seems players don't feel the pain much longer. They have money, luxury life, everyday football and club commitments, other happiness.. but for a fan..

Man Utd's Angel Di Maria questions Argentina friendly with Germany.

Di Maria: "The season is very long, with the Copa America too at the end of the year. I believe these games, sometimes, I would prefer to avoid them. This is not about revenge [for the World Cup final], it is just a friendly game, nothing more.

"They are the world champions and we are coming to their party. They will present the trophy. But, well, we will try to do our best."

Too defensive I found, I'd rather put Di Maria at midfield instead of Biglia and put 1 more creative player in attack. I like Gaitan but prefer a more playmaker profile like Pastore.

Will be watching the game and hoping that the team finds a good spirit. The result doesn't matter, the selections don't matter. It's all about playing football and having some moments together out of all the club nervewrecking, demands and other bullshit. So I hope that ARG players are going to enjoy the game as it is. An easy good time exhibition. Im going to enjoy it that way atleast. It's about to time, just watching ARG play and not having to bite all my fingers bloody. Just sit back, drink beer and enjoy the (hopefully) entertaining and beautifull football game. Tata knows that we have the Copa and Qualifiers for all that fingernail-eating and nervewrecking again. Until then lets enjoy and see where the team is going. The next 4-5 games are good indicators of that direction, but tonite it doesn't matter. Just play football. That's all.

Vamos Argentina!

I don't want to see Kun,Pipita & Palacio near the Albiceleste side anymore! No need to stick with these same guys again & again & again.....! They are as useless as Tevez!

Almost 21 years, we haven't won any major trophy!! As an elite force of world football which is 'Unacceptable......'!

Now 'The Don' Grondona dies. Argentina should rebuild everything. Otherwise no change of sceneries!

It's time of Iturbe,Icardi & Viettos. Argentina should go for an era of new generation!

Vamos Argentina! Vamos!!

I don't feel like this friendly vs Germany has meaning at all. My heart is still very painful and losing in final of WC hurts even more than losing in group stage. If we win, nothing new... We also won against Spain after they crowned WC champion. If we lose.. it will be even worse. I think Tata's real game will only start in next friendly.

"Argentina had basically the same 2002, 2006, and 2010 world squad for the Copa in 03' 07' and 2011"...
...what a bad omen as we won nothing at senior level.

I don't recall any Argentina coach from the past radically changing the team after a world cup, so why is it bad for Tata to used the same world cup team..I'm all for giving the youngsters a chance but why try to rush every single young and upcoming Argentina player in Tata first game as coach..It's a good gesture to see Tata calling up Gaitan and Lamela, others will come as time goes by...

Well done to kid for predicting almost the exact line up.
I would honestly care about this match if youngsters like iturbe, musacchio etc.... were given a chance because it would signify a "new beginning" of some sort but as it stands this just seems like a "too little too late" attempt by the AFA to regain some pride (and line up their greedy pockets).

Messi dont need this type of friendlies games cause we already know what he's capable of but Tata is not looking to change what suppose to be changed in this team, only Lamela is not enough.

For me though the game has been decided last July by failing to beat the Germans on a S.American soil....what a shame !!! Even if we beat them by 4 goals, it is still 1-0 for me and Germany are the Champions. Sabella did a fantastic job in his plan the entire game, but our forwards were useless. Aguero, Higuain, Palacio, Lavezzi, Di Maria all now can go to their clubs and score goals for fun. They are still club players with the exception of Messi who had a great WC and was best player of the tournament.

I agree on the line up except for Aguero who shouldn't be near the NT anymore. Bring on the youngster generation: Icardi/ Correa/ Iturbe and give them a chance. Aguero can score a hat trick in a friendly but suck on the WC stage. It has been proven and this will be the case, he's Diego Milito kinda player.

Pretty strong line up. Have my doubts on selecting aguero over higuain & fernandez over basanta! Good luck to Tata for his first match, even though the result would matter least!

Do you want Carlos TEVEZ back?
