@KidultHood: I've said it many times that Argentina has fallen victim to a certain Ariel Ortega twice! once with that stupid move in 1998 that got us out of world cup in the blink of an eye, and once with his pathetic performance in 2002. I still watch the games and have no idea what he is doing! just driblling around himself until he loses the ball and the pattern goes on forever! he was way out of form and if the team was built around him you have to blame the coach, not Crespo, and not Batigoal! we did not have a single clear cut chance against England! or even Nigeria! you cannot blame Batigoal or Crespo for that! Batigoal did not miss a single chance in that tournament. On the contrary, he created a goal out of thin air! so in my view, he did his job perfectly! i do not recall him missing any 1-1's or giving away stupid offsides at all! my memories of him are all positive! I wish, and I really do wish that I could say the same about Higuain! but I don't think there is anything he can do that will wipe out this dark cloud in my head.

@Batigol
Agree with you. I think most have all blamed Pipita, Kun and Messi for missing goals in the final. The hate (if we want to call it 'hate') towards Kun and Pipita is because of these

1. Pipita missed easier chance. Really easy one.
2. Pipita should have stayed onsite. All the defenders were in front of him, what was he thinking?
3. Kun hardly cared. It did not look like he is giving it all.

Those were not the case with Messi. His chance was tougher though he should have scored. He also carried the team in the group stage and set it up. The style changed completely from knock out stage.

Vamos Pipita. I don't understand why people hate Pipita and Kun. Even messi missed a sitter in the finals and people say class is permanent etc. Messi played well but that isn't an excuse for that miss. If you want to criticize, blame everyone equally rather than coming up with groupism. Vamos

add to it some of the players believed in the hype all we needed to do was turn up and the cup is ours.

kh: 2002 was a combination of things from being over trained, their were too many injury's to key players, key players out of form, and no plan b at all.
simply put the coach got it wrong and did not have any play to fix it.

it's not we support them or not!! it's just we were so near to win this WC after 24 years of waiting and these 2/3 moron kun, pipita and palaccio just played less than a mediocre player. Di Maria gave his last drop of juice to make that moron Ronaldo to be happy!! F**** it's so painful to see how these moron ruined our hope!!

Gabo: you still did not answer my question..Why did Argentina failed to get out of a group back in 2002 that consist of Sweden,England and Nigeria? 2014 Belgium and Switzerland are all better than those teams from back then..You're forgetting that Belgium and Switzerland were seeded team and were also ranked higher than both Holland and France at the 2014 world cup..

@KidultHood: if Batistuta and Crespo were to beat Switzerland and Belgium to get to semis, rest assured they would! unfortunately, for Batigoal it was Netherlands in 1998 and for Crespo it was Germany in 2006! and oh! Crespo did not lose to Germany, the game was a draw! only if one could say the same about Higuain!

the argument that we got to finals for the first time in 24 years is absurd! same goes for how many semis have Crespo and Batigoal played! there aren't many Argentine teams who wouldn't make it to semis with a draw like this!

the question you should be asking is, how many world cups has Higuain won?!! who gives a shit about playing in final and losing!!!?

I remember the commentator on the final said that Argentina would be sorry if they lose by one goal from germany after Higuian missed that goal.

It's true!

This is why fans can never be Managers ....the emotional aspect of decision making is where coaches are unique.
I am mad at Higuain for not taking that chance...but I would never say he should have been dropped etc that is ridiculous.

Germany is calm and they don't just discard the team...the German fans were calling for Low's head because they didn't "win" if it were up to Fans he would have been fired and the entire team changed....

We are fans and are entitled to be emotional but when it comes to Managing a team a line MUST be drawn. I would never drop those 2 but it doesn't mean the door is close to new blood

guled: How many world cup final did Crespo and Batistuta played in?The last time I check Higuain goal send Argentina to a world cup semifinal, something they did not achieve since 1990.

What in the world did the 2002 Argentina did? They failed to get out of a group consist of England, Nigeria and Sweden.

Gabo: How many wc Semis did Batty goals led Argentina to? Enlighten me..

You see, I'm a huge fan of both Batistuta and Crespo (don't get me wrong these guys are legends), so I'm not trying to dig at them..Just trying to be sane here..If Aguero and Higgy are ''villains'' then the same should go to all Argentina players from the 1994 world cup to this day..

Pablo.d: It seems like people want Aguero and Higgy to all of a sudden give up football because Argentina did not win the world cup..Its like saying to them, why bother showing up for your clubs..I still support all these guys 100%..I support all Argie players, even Icardi but when you guys try to compare him with Higgy, saying how he's better, then this is where I'll make a stand..

At least El pipita scored and looked like he was trying, Kun on the other hand was only there in spirit.

I love both and willing to accept them on the team only to see how they perform in the near future.

I'm going to stop following Higuain from now on. Back then I said he'll soon be busy scoring for his clubs and forgetting the amount of pain he's inflicted on all of us! it didn't take him long to get there! look how happy he is! I'm still in pain! can't care less about the friendly against Germany.

@KidultHood: "Crespo and Batistua never delivered at a world cup" are you joking? with 10 goals in just 12 games (many of which he did not play full time) Batistuta is the top argentine striker in world cup history. do I also need to mention his two hat tricks? were you even watching as he scored that unbelievable header against Nigeria? did you actually watch his games and came with this conclusion? or is this like one of those Messi does not play for Argentina waves?

Batistuta and crespo never let their countries down by missing easy chances time and time again and they were professionals unlike aguero, they finished the chances they got and no body blamed them for not winning the World Cup, they did their part and due to luck and other things argentina didn't win the World Cup

kh: for me hig was not fit and should of and could of done better with that chance(shit happens)but for me he is still a solid striker and if you have seen my team I put on here Ive still selected hig but as for kun im far from impressed as it really seemed like he was having a Sunday stroll, with some thing close to nil effort when he did play and spent more time focusing on selfies then what he was their to do, I not as forgiving of him.
on the other scale their was mash who tore a part that makes us all wince in the semi final but he still gave every drop of blood for the team in the final, their is the difference between mash and kun and the respect each deserves.

Crespo and Batistua never delivered at a world cup let alone play in a final and they were still regulars for Argentina. Don't see why all the hatred towards Higgy and Kun..

If it is a 1:1 and if he has time, you can bet he will miss 8 out of 10 times. Its not new, he was always like that.
