Marcos ROJO confirms Manchester United transfer

Marcos ROJO has just confirmed that he has joined Manchester United. While speaking to Radio Continental, he had this to say:

"It feels like a dream, to be a Manchester United player. Leaving Sporting wasn't easy. He (Juan VERON) told me about them when we played for Estudiantes."

Rumors have been circulating all day that ROJO has joined United on a 4 year deal with NANI joining Sporting on loan.

We must be careful when using the word "defensive"
it is often misused in the context of football.

A team that defends well is not necessarily defensive.
Sabella is Definitely a defensive minded / counterattacking coach and understands that based on the current state in football the beautiful passing game we all are used to based on the squad he had was (In his mind the best choice) and well he got to the final so weather we like it or not(I myself heavily critisize Sabella at times) that's just his way.

As for Simeone being in the style of Sabella I think this is incorrect. Simeone is very unique where him like Pochettino, Tata etc are students of Bielsa but this is where Simeone differs. Simeone is way more tactically flexible and his days under Zoff in Italy shows he clearly has very different styles and he is not afraid to use them if necessary. Which for me personally (at least with the teams I coach) is the Ultimate weapon......after all this I am still hurting from world cup...I am glad you all didn't see me after the game I was a broken man silent and out of it for many weeks....sigh

If sabella is defensive , cholo is ultra defensive with some dirty tackles . That dirty tackles wont help you in WC like tournaments.

And here we talked lot about bringing youth and integrate well with seniors and make the best out of them. I dont feel cholo is that kind of manager.

atletico madrid had a far far inferior team compared to our national team and he still won the league and made it to the final of the champions league and almost won it!! i think he is more similar to sabella!

@kid I get what you're saying I really do, but I think Simione's tactics stem from necessity; I mean if you look at Sabella's Estudiantes they played very defensive football but then contrast that with his Argentina, which, for a time, relied on top-sided, counter-attacking football.
Ultimately a smart coach is one that adapts and motivates and in those regards Sabella and Simione are very similar.

I wish Simione all the best and hope that he gets better and better so when he does take over the NT we can all go and celebrate by buying a new albicelestes jersey, which has 3 stars sawen into it.

Elpipita: Good points, but I still feel Simeone is more of the negative style than Sabella when it comes to tactics..Not saying anything is wrong with it because he gets result playing this type of football, its just not my cup of tea..

From what I've seen Simione comes from the Sabella school of coaching and if one needs prove then look no further than Estudiantes and Atletico to see what these 2 can do with mediocre teams.

@kid most of us here at mundo are guilty of bandwagon hopping but I think you'd be hard pressed to find anyone out there who doesn't think that Simione is one of best if not THE best coach in world football.
As for Atletico not playing attractive football, well just remember that he has about one tenth (if that) of Barca and Real's budget so it's not like he has his pick of the top players in the world. The man simply works with what he has and thus far he's done miracles.

KidultHood: it matter not as sadly we did not win it, anyway the 1st chance was nothing to do with team play it was a hummel lazy back pass.
messi's chance was a tight angel (personally i thought he should have gone closed to the keeper instead of shooting early) and pal miss was just awful but do tell me how in isolating messi, as you said under sabella messi scored 3 hat tricks and how by isolating you main man were we seriously going to win us the w/c as messi was always going to be the key for us.

its strange how you laud sabella and his tactics in freeing messi to score many goals but when we needed those same tactics he changed them to froze messi out. yes our number one threat was frozen out by the chance of sabellas tactics.

the krauts also had chances, it was not all one way traffic and if we had scored who says we would have won it and they might have gone on and scored more, we will never know a reality is we did not score and they did arghhhh

Siqueira was horrible, bale was all over him... he got replaced by Ansaldi...

I thought Ansaldi did ok... Considering the fact that it is his first competitive game for athletico

btw, Did anyone here the "Ole ole ole, ole ole ole ola, ole ole ole cada dia te quiero mas, yo soy argentino, es un sentimiento, no puedo parar" Chant during the match? wow :).

@Pablo.d
Did you saw Mandzukic today? talk about isolation..Simeone plays negative football and it works for him...Please keep this man away from the Argentina NT...

Sabella did not miss those goals in the final..END OF DEBATE..Messi, Higuain and Palacio missed their chances not Sabella..Germany took theirs, and they won..Was sabella suppose to suit up, and take Messi, Higgy and Palacio spot on the team instead?

kh: at the end of the day sabella won nothing with Argentina and does not feel he can offer the n/t any thing else as for sim im sure his time will come with the n/t and we will be waiting to see what he has to offer.
"Simeone games are negative" and when it mattered what did sabella offer us from knock out stage 1 that was not at all negative? infact sabellas tactics and style of play left messi isolated and seeing little ball, a foolish tactic from sabella when messi is your key goal scorer.

Guled: Sabella style is not like Simeone..Messi scoring ratio for Argentina sky rocketed under Sabella..Messi scored 3 hat trick under Sabella..Argentina scored the most goals in 2012 and 2013 when it comes to NT across the globe..

Kidulthood : it is easier to do it in 7 games instead of 38, if cholo teams can fight and win against a billion team in 38 games, he can do it in 7 games, possession football can be anti football also, isn't xavi useless back passes annoying, For me cholo teams don't play anti football rather they play passion football with heart and determination

Simeone as coach for argentina will be great, there is no better Argentinian coach right now, his team is inferior in talent compared the galacticos of real but he motivates his players and plays the right tactic to overcome those hurdles, passion heart and toughness is the hall mark of cholo teams, right now he is the best coach in the world period

Kidulthood: dunga offers nothing in terms of creativity but his teams are more disciplined which makes harder to beat, also his team won copa and if not misfortune v holland they would have reached the final of 2010 world cup, he achieved all that through discipline and defensive tactic, so don't underestimate dunga and his team, next year copa will be tough I hope tata continuous the defensive discipline sabella built, after long time argentina fixed the defense we all saw the results, next year copa is very important for argentina

guled: Brazil wont be any different under Dunga..You're forgetting Dunga team at the 2010 world cup lack creativity and was one of the dirtiest team at the 2010 world cup..Kaka red card during the group stage against Ivory Coast and, Filpe Melo red card against the Dutch during the semis..Brazil is weak at this point..Brazil use to have some of the best creative midfielders in world football, with the likes of; Ronaldinho, Kaka, Dinelson, Rivaldo, Junihno etc..Now all Brazil have are a bunch of unorthodox/runner midfielders like Gustavo, Paulinho, Fernandinho etc..

No need to overrate Dunga, he was a good player but I haven't seen anything special about him as a coach..Yes Brazil will be more discipline in defense under Dunga, which will come down to Brazil playing negative football, just watch how the public will ask for Dunga resignation in no time...teams use to be intimidated by Brazil before they even step on the pitch but those days are long gone for Brazil now.

Kidulthood: you are right, next year copa is perhaps the most competitive for a long time, Columbia will be there and chile as host nation but I still believe brazil will be tough also with dunga and his defensive tactics he is already calling players scolari ignored, I have confidence in argentina after the World Cup performance we finally solved the defensive issues now it us up to tata to work on the creative and striker departments

You guys don't even know how happy I am for both Rojo and FF moving to Man United and Swansea respectively..When God open doors, no man can close them..

I want to see all my Argentine succeed, where ever they go...

Colombia will be Argentina toughest challenge for next year Copa..The 2015 Copa will be very competitive, maybe we are looking at the best possible Copa ever..

All the South American teams are stronger now than they were back in 1990's and early 2000's...Brazil have decline, although you can't never write them off..I even see Paraguay as a bigger threat than Brazil for next year Copa..

it's a good move for Rojo and one that will allow him to develop tactically and help the NT. Looking at Van Gaal's formation, he'll play both as a left central D and also as the axillary wing back when he plays further up in MF.

The one issue with Rojo is lack of positional and especially zonal awareness and Van Gaal's 3-5-2 will sharpen those skills as Rojo will have to become better at reading and diagnosing plays when the game becomes stretched. And the EPL will test him out given that teams love to attack down the flanks.

wish him the best

Normally British Coaches doesn't like Argentine players and also have lack of trust on them. Maybe because of the history between Argentina and England.

Sir Alex Ferguson signed Veron, Heinze and Tevez. Neither of them were regarded one of the top rated player for Man Utd.

Roman Abrahamovic's Chelsea never likes Argentine players as he's a great fan of Brazil. Only Crespo played for Chelsea as he was regarded one of the top players during that time in Europe. Apart from that, Franco Di Santo come from Chelsea's Youth system but eventually soled to wigan Athletic.

But the coaches from other European country rated highly of any talented Argentine player.

That's why Van Gaal, Roberto Mancini and even Jose Mourinho likes to sign any talented player from Argentina.

Let's hope Marcos Rojo would find a very special place to Man Utd Fans as he himself desperate to play for Man Utd.

I guess, Angel Di Maria would join for Man Utd for 50 million pound. I also heard Di Maria will receive 200 thousand pound each week plus performance bonus.

Woao!!!!! that would be a monster deal for both Man Utd and Di Maria.

Seems like we will see some mini Argentine fan battles like (Boca vs River Plate) between two Manchester Club supporters.

Who will you prefer?

A) Aguero - Zabaletta - DemiChellis - Zuculini - Caballero

OR

B} Di Maria - Rojo

Rojo will be something special in ManU. Im actually sure about it. This kid was a totally new talent for me during the WC.. well I knew him from some qualifiers and by name, but right from the first Bosnia-game I actually saw him play, and what a way with the ball. Fast, skillfull, mature (for his age) and can be usefull in both ends of the field. Argie-version of Ramos I think, but with more skill in his feet. This transfer will be the best thing that has happened to his career. 4 years with ManU will make him a superstar and I got a feeling that he'll be playing those 4 good years dominating the wing with Di Maria. With that move happening we would have a lethal NT-duo right there. All the best to Rojo! I will cheer for ManU (though I'm not a fan at all) these upcoming seasons like I do for Barcelona, Tottenham, City, Napoli, Atletico and PSG for obvious reasons.. ;) Champions league will be full of argiestars again this year and ManU will be there the next year with Rojo leading the way.

I was never a fan of Man United but I'll supporting them now any day over Arsenal and Chelsea, who never show any concrete interest of signing Argentinean players..Forget you Wagner and Mourinho..You guys think your clubs are too good enough for Argie players?

Teams in BPL that I will be interesting in watching this season are:

1. Man City

2. Totenham

3. Man United

4. Swansea

5. New Castle

6. Sunderland

I will not watch any games that doesn't involve these teams..If Liverpool sign Romero then I will add them to my list..I know Speroni play for Crystal Palace so I will try to catch some of his games..

First time in my life I'm happy I put my own foot in it, and kicking my own ass for not liking rojo (pre wc). Hahahaha, so happy for this kid, hoping he succeeds at ManU (although I'm not a manU fan), and hoping this just gives him so much more confidence then what the wc did to him... Seriously think this passed World Cup seriously changed this kids life!!! Congrats !!

And with the rumor of Di Maria possibly in the works for MAnU as we'll ??
What a great combo, for bothe of them to play down the same flank on nt level and now club level, that would be amazing..
Hoping praying and can't wait to see what we got in line for next wc.. Hoping great things and just a heck of a stronger team, just really scared messi won't have his same potential he's had, 4 yrs from now.. Praying he does
