Argentina to tour United States in November

Argentina are likely to tour the United States in November. Argentina is set to play the Superclasico de las Americas against Brazil in Beijing and will also play against Hong Kong in Hong Kong in October. Guillermo TOFONI, the person responsible for organizing Argentina's matches had this to say:

"Also, there will be two matches in the United States. Most likely in New York and Miami, against Colombia and Honduras."

Argentina's first match of 2015 will come in March where the rumord opponent will be South Africa.

Should they play in New York, I'll make the flight or drive down (just as I did the last two times they played there) and maybe we can organize a little meet up with fellow Mundo fans!

Tata has a foundation of players that went to the WC final.

EX. Is like taking over a company, keep the employees, see who fits the systems, and see who has to go.

"Tata probably want to say thanks to all these players and start a good bonding with the team"

would alex ferguson do this? no then why should we.

alex f is arguably the greatest manager of all time and we need to learn from managers like him, its not about being nice to players as its all about winning.

the foundation has been set by sabella and credit must go to the winning attitude of the defence, the def mid and a pass mark to messi but the rest the attacking mid and the strike force did not have it and it cost us.
I want to see from tata a ruthless approach of less "selfies" from players and we do out talking on the pitch, he has to have no favourite's and those in form must play.
we are Argentina and should be here to win a final as nothing else will be good enough and being 2nd means you have won zero.

I agree with kid here , Tata done a right thing . The team deserved respect.
This match can be a farewell for many players such as maxi , demi, gago .

Tata probably want to say thanks to all these players and start a good bonding with the team.

If we win copa2015, we'll play the 2017 confed cup. That means one major tournament every year (copa15, copa centenary 2016, confed2017, wc2018) + friendlies & wc qualifiers. IDT any other national team would be playing so many matches. Tata should take advantage of this & build a winning combination by trying out new faces along with the 'key players'.
So, winning copa next year is the key. It's long long overdue!!!

I was reading yesterday...

tata martino as a Paraguay DT:

- 11 wins in the 2010 WC qualifiers, 3 draws, 4 defeats
- their best-ever points total, just one behind Brazil in first place
- he beat Dunga's brazil at home (2-0), and Bielsa's Chile (3-0) away, although he lost the 2nd game against each.
- he had previously used the 3-5-2, 3-4-3, 4-4-2 and 4-3-3

Sn: our recent performance in the qualifiers its 9 wins, 5 draws, 2 defeats in 16 games.

I think there's a lot to look forward to with Tata Martino.

im concerned as complacency is some thing we have suffered from for many years, the work should start now but from reading the link posted earlier it seems it the same team, then what? do we think we will send an experimental team to play the yellow team?
as i said we only get 7 games as a n/t per year meaning time is not on any n/t managers side.

im lost as what has the coach meeting players got to do with any thing? so what if he meets them or not as its not about the players/their feelings its all about the coach telling the players you are in or not and he does not need to travel across the world to do that, he does not need to travel around the world to even watch them as all this can be done without leaving comfort of ones home, work etc.

Pablo.d: Take it easy, Tata just got the job..It's not like Tata wont give some new faces a shot the NT. There is a time for everything. Argentina have games against Brazil, Hong Kong, Colombia and Honduras later this year, so I'm sure we will see some fresh face before the year end..Argentina was not the worse team at the world cup so why this prancing when the coach haven't even meet some of the guys on the current team..

DD: Its obvious that's what Tata is planning on doing..Guys like Demi, Campagrano, Palacio, Maxi etc won't be going to the next world cup.

Gilly: I agree and this upcoming game is not about the result it should be a stepping stone to the copa.

as we know we have beaten them in the last 2 friendlies but when it has mattered hmmmmmm.

for me I want to see some old heads 9the currant squad)(maybe 70%),
some possible's like lamela and or pastore and then a younger player or 2 to let them see what the set up is about letting them get hungry for the blue and white.

what we have now is players knowing they have a shirt and are not fighting for it.

@KidultHood: I hope Tata is thinking exactly in the same lines as you have mentioned.

As for "Palacio replacement - any # 9 that is worth the spot", I think we should watch Ferreyra, Icardi, Zarate for a few matches at least & make that call.

Pablo.d : Totally agree with you , this is a kind of game where we need our next stars should be playing , regardless of the result of the game. Our experience tells us winning friendlies in Germany hasn't proven anything for us. I am pretty sure Germany will play their young players. Why reward players like Aguero ? What did they do for us at the WC ? No point being overly sentimental.

Deschamps said Pastore can do things in training even Zidane didn't do. That's quite a statement. And add to that the football he is playing in France for the last few months.

It's time he is called up. We don't have enough creativity in midfield for sometime now.

I meant Tata not Sabella.

As you guys can see, Tata is also in charge of the U20 and U23 teams so he will slowly incorporate some of these younger players as time goes on..^^^

Guys Tata is doing the right thing..I mean, its his first day on the job..This is a sign of Tata saying, ''Sabella I respected what you did for the country of Argentina with the national team..''

As you guys can see, Sabella is also in charge of the U20 and U23 teams so he will slowly incorporate some of these younger players as time goes on..

The team just went to a final and we can at least show the players respect instead of treating them like ''vermin's'' for pete sake..

This is how I look at Tata decision..Well, he will use this game as a thank you game for some of the guys on the squad that will be no more with the national team set up..This will be a thank you game for guys like; Demicelis, Palacio, Orion, Gago, Maxi, Augusto etc..So after the Germany game we will have a situation where certain players will come in for these outgoing ones..

Demechelis replacement - Mussachio/Otamendi/Lisandro Lopez or have Basanta be a cover instead of playing on the flanks..

Palacio replacement - any # 9 that is worth the spot.

Orion replacement - Rulli or Cabellero

Gago replacement - Gaitan

Maxi replacement - Lamela

Augusto replacement - Pastore

I for one do not care about the game against Germany, but I certainly didn't want to see Tata picking a bunch of inexperience U23 players to get slaughter by the Germans in front of their home fans..Make no mistake, Germany will be fielding a strong team bar Lahm and Klose who recently retired from international football..So its fitting for Argentina to put out a quality XI to play against the Germans..Argentina find themselves in an awkward position, nobody here saw this kind of dilemma coming when the two teams were announced to play in September before the world cup started...

The final was already depressing for me so noway I want to see Tata taking a rookie team to Germany in order for the Germans to pour salt on a already wounded Argentina, by humiliating us in front of their home fans..Germany was fortunate to win this world cup and we should remind them of it.

DD: correct its time for the team to have a backbone as you have said an also a sprinkling of new faces.

example pastore is in great early season form, reward him as we have no playmaker at the moment, im not saying he is the answer but we need to reward those in form now and also try other options.

at the end of the day the last team did not win the w/c.

@Pablo.d right. We are NOT talking about a fresh start here.
We are talking about holding on to the backbone (Messi, Mash, Di Maria, Zaba, Rojo, Biglia, Perez, Romero, Garay) of the team & build on it by calling up some new faces (Rulli, Musacchio, Peruzzi, Lamela, Pastore, Gaitan, Ocampos etc) who are waiting in the ranks.

I believe that starting with same wc squad is terrific decision.Martino will be able to observe the team and players closely. He will get an idea which player to keep and which to drop.Let's not forget that we need continuation of Sabella's good work, not a new or fresh
start.

Martino should get rid of some of the WC2014 squad members & call up new ones sooner than later.
For example, Maxi or Demi have no chance of playing the next WC. There's no point sticking to them.
Also, based on performance, Palacio should be totally out and Kun should be let out at least for some time.

we have to think like Germany and start a fresh, begin with a new plan.
in the past we have wasted to many friendlies as we seem we will waste this one, their is only 7 friendlies a year under the fifa rules, that means less then 10 games before the cope kicks off.

the aim should be a team for the copa and the 2018 w/c, planning should have started now.

guled: im not as forgiving about some of their performance's at the last w/c, for me the blue and white has to be earned and some of those players currently do not deserve their shirt.

time to start for the copa is now and this should be game 1.
this was my complaint in the past in not using friendlies wisely, use this as a trial for some new faces and some old ones.

I think he needs to make some changes, just small ones as this is a new beginning, a new team, new idea's, new tactics, as a new manager needs to start fresh with his team, ideas, thoughts.

personally I think this game should be scrapped or we play a b team.

Dear all, from WCblog, this is Debasish. Hiding under the name of ddr1123..lol! Good to see all coming here and a big hello to all the members here.

This is a wonderful blog and very well moderated by the moderators. Outstanding job!!!

I do remember ToddUtah, brilliant posts. These days I do come in read 2-3 times in a day, post occasionally.
This WC was a heart break, but if someone would have told me WC runners up at the beginning of the WC, I would have accepted the deal.

Sabella did a wonderful job. Probably too pragmatic for my liking, but the game has changed a lot, a LOT from days of 2006.

Now I just hope we win the COPA next year.

Once again a big HELLO to all here!

Arg2014 : There is no need to get depressed my brother. Let's back him up 100% - and give him some time. I remember when Sabella took over there was extreme amount of pessimism around him as well. May be because we are blessed with vast pool of coaching brilliance available we (Argies) tend to have wide range of choices n preferences. But trust me he's the right guy at the moment for Argentina given his experience, knowledge and age. Have faith !

@arg2014, I remember you were the harshest one to criticize Sabella before he proved you wrong, Tata martino will do just that as well. Don't judge him base on his barca performance, in fact Tata did very well with barca first half of the season when he actually was having his own way until the barca board forced him to change. Tata is the perfect manager for Argentina right now, just wait and see.

Hallo to you all in particular Gilly, Chalz, Rahman, Messay, Alfio from the old blog. A pity we seem to have lost Maxi Lopez (no doubt he is trying to get hold of Maurito) ;) and Albo, Skywalker and Rune.

I am not a fan of these friendlies insofar as they seem and have been in the past generating funds for unlikeable characters dragging our players all over the globe.

However Martino can use these particular matches to assess some of the upcoming young players and more importantly their temperament for the international stage.

He should know what the core of the WC side can offer at next years Copa so it is time to see if the new generation can stake their claim based on their club form and there is only one way to find out.

Leading the charge upfront should be Lamela, Iturbe and Ocampos. I do like the look of Boye as a targetman but he still needs a full season to see what he is capable of and kicking on. Players like Blandi for example amongst several others have not exactly kicked on although he is doing reasonably now at San Lorenzo.

Midfield players like Botta, Kranevitter and Alan Ruiz and there are plenty of options coming through in defence ie Mateo, Lisandro, Peruzzi and Garcia perhaps Sanchez Mino.

Musacchio is on the verge of joining Tottenham and Rojo Manchester United which should be an invaluable experience towards 2018 so long as the financial details can be smoothed out.

Pezzella was mentioned earlier in another section. I first saw him in the u17. If you have watched football a long time the first thing to look for in a young player aside from their technique is their temperament.

He oozed calmness and patience not to mention being a commanding presence. Some thing young Emmanuel Mammanna offers as well. Perhaps German can recover in time from his injury problems and get a long run of games with River and come back like Gonzalo Rodriguez.

Unfortunately a lot of our youngsters have had their careers blighted by injuries and lost valuable development time.

And about these talent lists top xx number of youngsters in the world. I would ignore them. There are issues to sort out with the u17 and u20 and coaching at several clubs. A few clubs like River, Velez and Newells have got the right ideas (River has been one of the greatest academies in the world) but others need to improve a great deal.

Our players are always underrated whatever their age. Even someone like Masche and they continue to be. Rojo for instance is being talked about as if he was some third rate journeyman when he was one of the best left backs (out of position) in the WC.

Boca still have some talents coming through notably Guido Vadala was being looked at several seasons ago by European clubs and he has been prolific in the junior divisions.

We still produce enormous numbers of players and plenty of gifted youngsters. Some will undoubtedly go onto be great players, others for lack of discipline, effort or not developing further will fall by the wayside but none as yet that player in a generation.

Nonetheless for the foreseeable future we should be more than fine. But no room for complacency. I hope Tata sorts the mess of the u17/u20 and as with other leading nations uses it as a tool to form the core of a side well versed and successful in tournament football.

Pekerman/Tocalli acheived this with their 05/07 crop several of whom played in the final. Since then it has been all too haphazard.

It was a great missed opportunity this summer. I will never watch that game again and find it hard to watch anything of the WC particular the wonderful celebrations of what are the greatest fans in the world. But this may cheer some of you up a little tribute to Masche from the wonderful Argentina fans to the tune of The Knacks My Sharona:
