@Guled, fren.... Just 2 points will answer yr doubts
.
1) Am ä disciple of Lord Jesus Christ
2) Am än expat living in Gulf region for quite sometime.
.
So that means i was just on Messi not based on such rumours (which Im hearing for the first time).... But purely bcoz Argentina were just inches from the cup.... Had the others played their hearts out as Mascherano.. .. We would be on the third heaven.... Sitting in the 2nd heaven for 28 years while some have reached as 5 and 4.. Just makes us introspect.
.
Anywayz i love Messi..... Thats why i support Barcelona????.
.
But i love Argentina and just that its not bcoz Messi alone ..... Its bcoz of Argentina itself.

Exactly pablo. All the reasons aside, there was a big gap in quality between the selected players by Sabella. Many of his favorites made it to the WC while several better players stayed home.

for me this was one of sabellas down falls sticking by those he loved instead of taking those in form now not those who were good 6 + months ago.

Tata is set to be named as Alejandro Sabella’s successor in the coming days, with AFA general secretary Miguel Silva admitting that there are only small details to be sorted out before an announcement is made.

“Our first candidate is Martino. If we agree with the economic issue and the agreements that everyone seeks, Martino will be the new coach,” said Silva.

GUYS NOTHING IS OFFICAL, AFA PRESIDENT GIVE INTERVIEW 5 MINUTES AGO:

Martino and Segura met in the house of Julito Grondona to define the arrival of the Tata selection. Part of the negotiation with Rosario. The new president of the AFA said it has nothing to announce.

Luis Segura, now president of AFA, I had confirmed. "We are going to offer a four-year Martino" pulled. But there was the official meeting, which was held at the home of Julito Grondona, where he was offered the leadership of the team at Tata. The first advance face to face.

Given the refusal of Sabella, Julio Grondona had chosen as his successor. "There is no plan B," confessed Segura, Don Julio and without power. Anyway, there are many details to discuss, ranging from economic to the role of Bilardo and management of youth combined. The important thing was that the first approach materialized. Now we have to wait.

Segura said after the meeting: "We still do not decide When the technician either Martin or another is, we will announce at a press conference not going to tell you all what happened..".

Agree with@xtreme, messi will be better with suarez around, he will have good striker partner for first time since villa, also I agree suarez is not selfish and he creates for his teammates, suarez is also hustler who fights every ball with dribbling skills and he is lethal, attacking wise barca will have the best front three in the world, and if Enrique uses masch in the middle we know how great he is, also rakitic is very good hard worker player, barca can be great with right tactics it all depends on Enrique, if he uses the right players and right tactic they can beat any team

Regarding Tata Martino:

Although I admit I haven't followed him much before his days in Barcelona, I think he IS a good choice for our NT. The reasons being:

1. He is YOUNG. This is a main reason we should rule out Pekerman. Energy is always a key factor to be a success in such major responsibilities.

2. He was a GREAT PLAYER in his footballing career. Played 500 plus official matches for Newells and was voted as best Newells player ever. He knows a few things about football for sure.

3. Has got good INTERNATIONAL COACHING EXPERIENCE. Took an average Paraguay Team to 2010 QF and lost out to eventual champions Spain. Took Paraguay again to the Copa America 2011 final and lost out to champions Uruguay. Decent experience.

4. Commendable CLUB LEVEL EXPERIENCE. Took a relegation-threatened Newells to the top tier of Argentina football. Reached the semifinals of Copa Libertadores 2013 where they lost out to eventual champions Atletico Mineiro. Had a good start with Barcelona, but eventually lost out due to various reasons (lack of defence, lack of Xavi and Messi, and lost to deserving Atletico Madrid in the title race). But that was important European experience.

5. Wiki - "Gerardo Martino prefers to play a very high pressing and an attacking style of football. All of Martino's teams have the same distinguishable traits: they play attack-minded football, they are creative and the style is based on quick passing. In addition, Martino's teams also pressure high up the pitch, play out from the back and depend on their youth systems." Very important. ATTACKING FOOTBALL, EXPLORING YOUTH SYSTEMS, HIGH PRESSING GAME - all that we want. Exactly the 3 things we failed to display in 2014.

PLUS he has worked with Messi and Mascherano already. There's a good chemistry already built. Also there's a feeling of failure somewhere - he knows he couldn't get the best out of Messi, and the circumstances Barcelona relieved him in. No doubt he will look towards setting all of that straight.

WE NEED SOMEONE who can explore all the fantastic young talents we can prepare for 2018, play an attacking brand of football, adopt a high pressing game which is something champion teams always do.

Gerardo Martino can provide all those options.

Suresh>

So yeah... i was writing something about the list but my PC crashed with my post written, i got so pissed...

So from the list, it seems the goalkeepers are:

Augusto BATALLA (River Plate)
Gastón GOMEZ (Racing Club)
Ezequiel UNSAIN (Newell´s Old Boys)

I think the most known is Batalla, he was with the sub-17 recently. A good prospect but needs years of tuning and progress. Anyway, we aren't short of decent GK. I don't know the two others, they are completely new to me.

The Defenders:

Leandro VEGA (River Plate)
Tiago CASASOLA (Boca Juniors)
Nicolás TRIPICHIO (Vélez Sarsfield)
Roberto SANCHEZ (Vélez Sarsfield)
Rodrigo MOREIRA (Independiente)
Fabricio BUSTOS (Independiente)

Vega, Tripichio, Moreira and Bustos were with the sub-17 recently (under Humbertito).

Vega is a CB left-footed, he can play as a LB and he's really good. Good header and good free-kick taker. Definitively one to follow.
Casasola is a CB that was wanted at one time by Barsa. He has apparently very good passing, physically strong. To follow.
Tripichio is a very interesting project of a RB. He can go forward and he's reasonably good at defending.
I don't know much about Roberto Sanchez, however, Bustos is a LB (former offensive midfielder reconverted a Left-Back). He's short (1.64) but bulky, very dynamic.
Moreira is a typical CB, tall, strong in the air but rather slow. I don't know, from what i have seen of him until now, i didnt like too much. He could improve.

The Midfielders:

Matías SANCHEZ (River Plate)
Lucio COMPAGNUCCI (Vélez Sarsfield)
Germán FERREYRA (Vélez Sarsfield)
Joaquín IBANEZ (Lanús)
Ignacio JAUREGUI (Gimnasia & Esgrima La Plata)
Luciano CABRAL (Argentinos Juniors)
Tomás MARTINEZ (River Plate)
Pablo CARRERAS (River Plate)

Sanchez has been already seen in the sub-17. Box-to-box midfielder with a good flaire to be there to score goals, you associate him with a holding MD.

Compagnucci is the holding MD. Generous in his efforts albeit a bit hot headed.

Ferreyra is the same as Sanchez, box-to-box and good at positioning himself to score goals. He's a bit like Bruno Zuculini in this aspect. A nice prospect.

Ibañez, this guy until very recently was a CW and it seems he's being reconverted as a LM and even sometimes as a LB. Obviously he has kept his striker attributes but he seems to be nuturned now to be a midfielder. Good size, good in the air (due to his size) and quite good in front the goal.

JAUREGUI, i have never heard of him until now

Cabral is an offensive mid., short sized, dynamic, good technique, it's going to be interesting to see how he fares. He started in Argentinos a couple of months ago but Argentinos Jrs got regelated. The problem for him is now Riquelme is at Arg Jrs and let's see if he manages to get playtime.

Tomas Martinez is the playmaker. The kid is very talented, left footed, he's more of a D'alessandro type than Aimar. One issue with him he's physically weak and he plays in a area where there are lots of contacts or fouls... He has started in River but he didnt make an impact yet even though you could see some fo his refined talent.

Carreras is an Offensive midfielder and from what i have seen they are trying to reconvert him as a RB. I don't know if this going to work though... He's very dynamic, can go back and forth, generous in his efforts. He's a excelletn free-kick taker.

The forwards, wingers...:

Rodrigo CONTRERAS (San Lorenzo)
Lucas CANO (Argentinos Juniors)
Maximiliano ROLON (FC Barcelona)
Agustín PASTORIZA (Real Betis)
Francisco DI FRANCO (Boca Juniors)

I know shit about Pastoriza so...
I don't know much Rolon either, except he has a twin brother playing in Velez Sarsfield who started in the last tournament. It's going to be an ooportunity to see him.

Contreras and Cano are tanks. Big strikers. I know Canoi was highly rated when he was playing in Arg Jrs. youth system but from what i have seen, he has s stagnated. Same for Contreras who was highly rated in San Lorenzo but right now he didnt show much.

Di Franco was, like the two previous ones, very highly rated 4, 5 years ago. But the past 2 to 3 years he has stagnated quite a bit and when Bianchi gave him chances to show himself, he did disappoint and went back to the reserve team. Last but least with him, he's very injury proned which could be the reason of why he couldnt show all the goods that has been talked about him.
Physically he's a bit similar to Lavezzi with having roughly the same height as the latter, can play both wings, quite fast.

There arent any big phenomenon in this team, some very interesting promises, others less.
Also, this squad lacks some names like Driussi, Mammana, Lezszcuk, Astina, Correa, Kaprof or even Simeone (even though i dont see much in him). Some arent there because they are playing with their clubs, in Correa's case, we know why and others are injured.
My guess is Humbertito is trying not to be taken by surprise (like the fool of Trobbiani) if next year, some clubs are retaining some of the players and then complaining how the clubs didnt allow their players to be released. Hence the less usual names appaearing in the list.

Official: Xavi, Iniesta, Messi, and Busquets will be team captains this season..

Mascherano would be the best option, but what this tell me is that Masche wont be a first team player this season with Barcelona..Iniesta and Busquet are too quiet and soft to be great leaders..Xavi is in decline, so why give him the captaincy..

I just know Barca will be really good this season, maybe not due to Luis Enrique, but Suarez and all those new players, will be incredible to watch. Do you all still remember how good were barca when David Villa was still good??? Barca was named as the best team in history but then ever since David villa gone down, Barca was never the same, Messi carried them all those years. Now barca with Suarez and messi, they will be back on top again.

Messi will score tons of goals playing alongside Suarez..Just look at Sturridge numbers for Liverpool and this guy is not a great goal scorer by any means..Suarez actually made Sturridge look better than he was.

xtreme: Luis Enrique is overrated..What have this guy done as a coach to get such a job? Compare Tata preseason with Barca, to Luis Enrique current preseason with Barca, and Tata wins..

The only reason Barca will actually look like a force this season will be because of Messi and Suarez..Luis Enrique adds nothing new to this team, I'm not impress at all with either of the two preseason games Barcelona played so far..

If you're going to replace Tata why not go for a better option than Luis Enrique? Even Conte would be a better option..

I agree with everything kid said, except that I think barcelona will finally be back on track even though defensively still not as strong as before. Enrique gets more respect from barca board since he was a barca product, and thus getting all the rights to purchase all those players, and I believe Enrique is a good coach and Barca will shine under him.. Not saying Barca wouldn't under tata, but Tata didnt' get the power to purchase anything when he was in charge, that was the end of it. I'm all for Tata to be the new Argentina, you never know Tata might be the coach to bring Argentina to the next level. A lot of you doubters out there were doubting Sabella before he took us to the final, I believe in Tata

@Chalz: Garay did not sought a wrong place..Nobody knows what was on Garay heart..This is a decision he had to make with his wife, I can guarantee you that..If Garay and the wife is happy then that's all that matter for them..Garay knew what was best for him and his family..

You guys should keep in mind that majority of the players that get big contract because of the world cup always go on to flop at club level..

Rojo should stay at Sporting for another season and build up his stocks..Southampton is trying to buy Rojo which is a BIG joke..Why would Rojo go play for a team that is not even in the UEFA cup..Rojo is guarantee UCL football this season with Sporting which will likely make his stocks rise even higher..No need for Rojo to rush to a so call ''BIG'' club..As long as Rojo is great for Argentina then that's all that matter for me..Rojo will get his BIG contract in due time.

As for Barcelona, I told you guys that this club has become a joke..Messi should have moved on..The tax dilemma would have been the perfect escape for Messi but he still choose to stay..Out of all the great defenders in La Liga, tell me why Barca end up with Mathieu? what a joke..Guys look for Mascherano to play CB for another season with Barca because Pique is a joke, and Mathieu is no great defender..The funny thing is, Spurs will scoop up Musacchio for around 21 million $. In a couple of season time, Barcelona will be trying to buy Musacchio back from Spurs for 45 - 50 million dollars when they could have bought him for less than Mathieu......Mathieu? SMH

As I said before I'm all for Martino if Sabella step down, as long as its not Perquafinalist..

''Martino should not get the job because he failed to beat Atletico Madrid last season..'' So what about Mourinho who also failed to defeat AM last season? The fact of the matter is, Tata lost the league to a better Atletico team, their is no beating around the bush..Tata defeat Real Madrid twice last season and only lost the CDR final because Neymarket could not put the ball in an open net...Tata defeat Man City twice last season also..Messi scored a hat-trick against Valencia in the span of 15 minutes under Tata, following up with another hat trick against Ajax a few days later during the UCL group stage..Then came his (Messi) hamstring injury away to Cetlo Vigo the following weekend, Messi was never the same for the rest of the season..Messi will be fine under Tata as coach, so too the other players.

Greets :)

.
If Mascherano does not play this well for Argentina; Who will???? He is the heartbeat of this Argentine erä.... Have no words for his World cup performance.... And as ä whole in total....
.
Banega should be whipped, slapped, stamped, moulded into ä shape by Bielsa.... But not sure he will end up there.... I was watching Marsille.... Looks like Bielsa might need lot of reinforcements...

Tbh, I am a big Pekerman fan but I wont be sad if Tata Martino becomes our coach. People here have negative sentiment about him since he last managed Barcelona but before that he had an impeccable record. Everyone of us have bad day or a week or a year off at work but that doesnt take out our skill and talent.

I strongly believe even if Martino is going to be our coach , Argentina NT will flourish under under and we shall win again.

Maxi Rolón: El argentino es un extremo atípico. Tiene mejor relación con el gol que con el juego. Tiene problemas para desequilibrar ante defensas cerradas pero en cambio es un portento en cuanto a gasto físico y generosidad defensiva.

The argentine is a unusual winger. He is more at ease with goal scoring than playmaking. He has issues to go through tight defensive systems but he is very generous in terms physical and defensive work rate (basically he's the contrary of Messi in that aspect).

Sounds to me he isnt going to stay at Barcelona, at least he doesnt seem to the characteristics.

Yep, that's pretty much it. Why Pekerman would return to youth NT? He has done everything he could there. Also Pekerman isnt that young anymore and coaching youth is very energy intensive. Not sure he's motivated for that.

1 season with 'that' barca team cannot measure Tata MARTINO at all. He added some direct football in Barca and was brilliant in the first half of the season. He was getting result but Media pressure him to play old style tiki-taka. Everything starting to go against him. Barca was trophyless in the end, but I bet no manager in the world could win a trophy with 'that' Barca. Look at their awful defense: Pique, Barta, Dani Alvz! Only Mascherano was the man to defend. Spain team was always the mirror of Barca. Look at Spain in world cup. Disaster! Tata wasn't the reason for this either. I bet If he was given another season to buy new players, he would definitely win liga. @fotobirajesh - Yes he was unable to beat Simione's Atletico but you forget Tata beat Champions leage winning Real Madrid twice.

Seems like Martino is the next coach. Iam disappointed.
He is a nice man. But, he didnt manage to design the tactics to win a single match against Atletico last season for Barca. That doesnt sound good for a coach.
Such a great talent of Argentine players, all will go trophyless in their time for the nt. what a pity.

This is the best piece of news since our win over the Netherlands in the semis - it imparts so much hope and happiness to see the Argie next generation.

vamos, boys!
