pablo.d: You're right. If he stays injury free this season, we can definetely decide what he is made of. And I realy hope he can be that wonderkid in a serious competition, who he was in Serie A. We desperately need a player like him, who can be an AM and a FWD at the same time. He would take a lot of pressure from Messi in the creative process and Messi could move closer to the box, or they could change that position through the game. I'm drooling... :)

My problem with Martino is that it seemed to me at Barca that he cannot motivate his players. When Barca lost, the players were so uninterested. Maybe it was not his fault in the 1st place, I don't know, but it's not a good sign.

I saw Banega play for Valencia yesterday. Isn't he going to Marseille with Bielsa? Anyone?

About Lamela. The kid is very talented, no doubt about it, but I think he lacks toughness, and when the tempo of the game goes up, he is lost. He was good in slow Serie A, but since then...

San isidro: I saw zuculini, the kid got talent no doubt, and he is built like bull, I saw lamela highlights I am glad he is back, we definitely missed the element of surprise he would have brought at the World Cup , alot of young talents will be there at the copa but first let us know the coach

Guled- Song, Sergi Roberto, Tello were not worthy
Subs my no means..Barca starting XI was the best
Option because their bench was weak..Atlety and Real
Benches were 10x better than Barca bench
Last season..Xavi should have stop playing for Barca
3 season back, he did nothing for Barca in the past 3 season
that was special..Messi was the one making Alot of these
Barca player look good in the past 3 season, the likes of
Pedro, Busquet included.

Kid: I know that is why I don't like xavi I think he is little bit overrated, we complained about sabella doing wrong substitutions but tata was the same last year with barca, he made wrong substitutions over and over again, some times too late, I agree he worked under hard circumstances , we will see if he becomes the national coach may be he will gain experience working for barca and that will help him not repeat those mistakes with national team, also he will have a plenty to choose from as we are loaded with talent

Guled: Yea, but remember that Tata
Defeat Real in both La Liga games and also defeat
M$n City twice..you're also forgetting all the personal
Problems that plague Barca last season..Tata did his best
With a bad situation last season..Xavi did not respect Tata
Decision to sub him, so Xavi was throwing tantrum at Tata
On the sideline..

Sabella must continue for argentina sake...If he really decided to move on from argentina, then please appoint tata martino, at least he won't be another maradona/batista, martini actually had success coaching other national team or clubs. Please either satellite or martino is our best bet.

looks like Sabella has doubts on his mind if he will be able to take the workload for the next 4 years. That's why he is taking this much time to decide.
There is a good old saying.. "when in doubt, 'DON'T DO IT"
He shouldn't proceed with any doubts in his mind, even if we lack a good alternative at the moment.

Argentina national team coach Alejandro Sabella will finally meet next week with Argentine Football Association (AFA) President Julio Grondona, as talks between the two to discuss the trainer's continuity were postponed today.

"There is no more time and Alejandro is aware of that," Grondona explained on informing that the planned meeting had been pushed.

Sabella has refused to comment on his future following an agonising World Cup final defeat to Germany in extra time, but when the trainer does meet with Grondona he will finally give an answer to the offer to renew his contract tabled by the veteran AFA chief, in the top job since 1979.

AFA directors are believed to be behind Sabella staying on in the job,

An agreement, however, is far from certain. The agent of Sabella, who took over from Sergio Batista in 2011, revealed during the World Cup that his client was likely to leave the job following the end of the tournament, although his statement was criticised by the coach.

The 59-year-old, previously at Estudiantes, has overseen 41 national team matches, winning 26,

Meeting Prospened plus Humbertito wants some kind of possible internship if sabella leaves:

from ole newspaper

The face to face meeting with Grondona Sabella finally not going to be this Thursday. The technician was going to say that he has no energy. And the president of the AFA thought seduce him. When together to define?

It was the day for the team. After a chat with someone close to Julio Grondona and Alejandro Sabella, who had been on Thursday the coach and the president of the AFA would meet. Face the two. Sabella had planned to come from La Plata to Buenos Aires for a chat.

His posture was saying he had no more energy than you think and rethink. The Grondona, use your imagination and all his powers of seduction to turn the initial decision. But finally, the meeting was neither be Thursday. There was a change of plans. And within the secrecy surrounding this, now it is not known whether it will be Friday or the weekend.

In his last public appearance, when he received an award from the Chamber of Deputies for their "effort and teamwork," Sabella had said that he had taken the decision. He gave the public within the weekend. But that was a way to get rid of the spots off. For just had a conversation and idea-that of Sabella was catching his car to come from Toulouse to Puerto Madero to repeat his decision finally to Grondona. Don Julio, in fact, already known for some time what the post World Cup Pachorra idea.

These days served just for the leader craneara a strategy to convince the DT, who now believes that it can not give the team 110% that requires its players. His stance bypasses a matter of money or because I have an offer from outside (at one point there was talk of French Monaco): Sabella wants to rest. The issue will be how you act in the present and the immediate future the AFA. Because there is unanimity that the man is Pachorra. And they have not yet searched for plan B.

In race two names succession fall by decantation. One is the Tata Martino, who is heading to Messi in Barcelona. At first he said he could cross have been critical to the organization of the AFA. "That is not true, we can all question something to try to improve," said Grondona Humbertito while got a possible internship. The other is Diego Simeone, Atletico Madrid today, the best news, but still thinks of directing the day to day of a club. The possibility of Ramón Díaz at this time sounds more like a nomination of its representative as a real interest. One way or another, we should expect the blessed meeting with Sabella ...

Really wanna wait n see what de hell r de changes gonna hapoen for the signings they made... Loved their transfer policy once but now they r competing to serie a clubs for de worst spot.... CL is a distant dream for sure, la liga itself will b tougher...

I jst said peruzzi as a vision to future... Also fazio-garay pairing will be de best by a big way, i feel... At 2018 both will b only 31, which is ideal for CBs... And about gaitan n pastore, is de guys we missed very badly in this WC, apart from di maria n ricky not a single player of that kind in squad, lavezzi turned into that role but only running was der and perez isn't de best in that role imo... We missed attacking mids whole tournament, very badly after di maria injury... At least 2 best performing attacking mids shud come to this squad for right balance... Whether it
is pastore or gaitan or lamela or iturbe or anyone....

guled: Tata didn't have a team at Barcelona..Look at the backing the club is giving Luis Enrique at the moment..Luiz gets whatever he ask for, wasn't the same with Tata..Neymar was the only player that came in with Tata and he (Tata) had nothing to do with that signing..

I remember a specific game Barcelona played against Valladolid last season which they won by like 4 goals (if I'm not mistaken)but there was an uproar due to Barcelona letting Valladolid control majority of possession for that game..The media was killing Tata saying how it was the first time in over 6 years that the team lost possession to the opponent..So even in a win, Tata was being mistreated at Barcelona for changing the team style...Barcelona did not let Tata fully implement is style/idea on the club..With Argentina Tata would be a better coach than what we saw of him at Barcelona...

I have just seen the game Tottenham played yesterday and does people really think Lamela had a good 1st half? (keeping in mind we are in pre-season, so the players arent yet fully fit)

Sure he scored 2 goals but something is worrying me... the more i see him the more i see he can't f***** beat his opponent and for me this is a deal breaker. I'm not really hot on him and i don't see what he could bring more to the NT.

'Jesus Christ is my all'...... I pray that God gives me courage to testify like how Kaka, Lucio, Ze Roberto did in front of the whole world (i belong to Jesus) (i love Jesus). They will certainly have their reward If not on earth but in heaven.
.
Projecting Maradona & Messi as Gods and building temples for them and worshipping them.... is plain stupidity and asking for a ticket to hell straightaway ....
.
God is not interested in football and He will never allow any man to take His Glory ... Nor does He share His Glory with anyone. So Argentina was asking for the wrath of God when they started projecting mere humans as Gods.
.
This curse must must must go from Argentina.
.
Maradona was Just like King Solomon the wise turned to the foolish.
.
Messi gave not glory to God.... I can give you examples but just one i will jot down here.... I.é., his tattoo..... the day he put it on his leg ... He lost his special blessings. Now he has another tattoo 'praising his left leg'.... PRIDE.
.
God resisteth the proud.
.
Sabella indeed is a good man.... I used to never like him but he is really a good man. Kaka too.
.
Messi, walking on a world cup final????????... How can u????? When Mascherano&team where dying on the pitch. Messi, that was a chance of a lifetime. God gives the crown to someone-else When we are not in Line with Him. See, Gotze robbed your crown from under your nose????.
.
Argentina will surely get its chance to lift The World Cup... God Willing soon.
.
Maranatha.......

It is true the likes of xavi undermined tata martino at barca(even messi didn't help the situation) but I didn't like martino not changing the same lineup that couldn't beat atletico over and over again, it is true he is pragmatic and if sabella leaves and simoene won't be the coach tata is the best option, but I didn't like his barca tenure

The only reason Lamela missed the world cup was due to injury..Peruzzi was a part of Sabella project all along..I don't see what difference Peruzzi would have made for Argentina at the world cup with all due respect..Its not like Campa get many games anyways so he should be out like yesterday..Pastore had himself to blame, with his under performing at PSG for most of the season..Gaitan have a case though, he should be in for Augusto for sure..Fazio, maybe, if he defends well in the coming season..Same goes for Mussachio..Argentina at the moment has one of the strongest defense in world football, so if guys like Fazio and Mussacchio comes in they better keep up the high standard and not conceding stupid goals left, right and center.

Simeone is an unlikely option. He said it himself he's not gonna abandon his club career anytime soon and sees himself more as a club coach than NT's. Maybe in 10 years or so we could think about him. Not now. The best and the most likely option is Tata Martino. And his style is very close to Sabella's, defend and counter attack. Plus he comes from the Bielsa's school, something the "genius" fanboys could fab on. Bring him on!

I m also in a 50-50 on sabella.....

Positives :-
He is a great personality, got a very good character, a very well behaving person, which is very important imo... Got a good head on shoulders... Fixed our defence... A result oriented tactician... May be most favourable conditions, still de biggest success in 20 or years...

Negatives :-
Rigidity... Hesitation to innovate... Ignorance to some proven talents... Favouratism towards some players... Decided de starting xi a year or so before de tournament... Stick wit de imbalance 11 for WC, forced to change de tactics in between, which shows some lack f preparation... Sticking wit favourites n ignoring some form players back fired... Over conservatism, too much emphasising on defence, sticking wit 1 goal lead, lack of flowing attacking game, over dependence on counters................

But all been said i want him to continue... He had a very good experience in de biggest stage, realised his negatives n positives... From here it will only get better under him in 1 or 2 or 4 years of time... Gambling a new man, we dnt knw what will be de result, if a negative one, again reinforcements... If its a really proven or hopeful one with a long term plan itz ok, otherwise it is gonna be de worst to happen....

The last thing i wanna see is de next coach calling tevez... Why de hell is still he not retiring from NT, is he ready to play for NT again... How can he ???!!! With which face ???!!!

Brazil has a HUGE Christ The Redeemer statue in their country.

Notice when Brazil were beaten 7 - 1 by Germany, David Luiz when on his knees immediately lift his hands to the heavens and was praying? Kaka is a minister, and a God fearing man..That's why he always wear the T-shirt, ''I Belongs To Jesus''..I too belong to Jesus, no shame in saying that..But depicting Messi and the Pope as gods is blasphemy hence why we lost the world cup along with Maradona ''hands of god''..

We need Sabella and Maradona both at a time... :D :P

In WC2010, I was impressed by our attack and the attacking style of play but Maradona's defense is bullshit.
In WC2014, our defense is awesome but our attackers ruined our hope.

So, I want Sabella to stay for our solid defense and Maradona for our Attacks...

I think -- my logic is ironic, you guys with me ??

Argentina's failure in the final barely had anything to do with the stuffs you say. It was because we didn't take our chances. Not because of some random spiritual stuffs. If anything, whatever force was behind Argentina this time, had more success than the ones we had in the past 20 years.

This was the first time a Pope was elected from the country of Argentina..The Pope before Francis was a German and I do not recall the Germans pulling off these stunts even when they whip us 4 - 0..

What about the other WCs? Getting eliminated in the QFs, going out in the Group Stage by the hands of the "Genius", were they Pope's fault too??

@kid,agree with you on the pope issue, I didn't like either, associating religion and sports doesnt make sense, even some said it was the pope that saved v Switzerland when they hit the post I saw a pic they made, also you are right some people calling messi god is stupid, he is human and great player and people shouldn't elevate him to the status of the creator

Friendly game against Germany: Germany 6 vs Argentina 1

Against Brazil: Argentina 1 vs Brazil 3 (Dunga will owned the new manager)

Copa America champions 2015: Colombia!!! Player of the tournament will be James Rodriguez; top goal scorer Falcao; best defense Colombia..Chile will finish as runner up..

Argentina will then fired the new coach, hire another one for 2016 Copa, then hire another one for the 2018 world cup qualifiers..

2018 world cup qualifier standing

1. Colombia

2. Chile

3. Brazil

4. Ecuador

5. Argentina (playoff spot)

3. Uruguay.

This will be the pre Sabella ERA!!!!

I agree Richard. I'm 50-50 on Sabella staying or leaving, but I'm twisting a bit on him leaving than staying. I am grateful for what he's done with the NT, but his selection was weird and his subs in the final even more so. Had we have a more balanced squad maybe we could achieve more. We suffered from the poor form of Higuain and Aguero and their replacement in the squad was Palacio who was even worse.

Rahat: The thing is, Sabella made me believe in this team more than anything else..I'm not pessimistic at all about Argentina future..I have a problem with the guys pulling the strings behind close doors, they're Argentina main enemies at this point..

I've got a peace of mind now, I've long moved on..My wife told me there is a reason Argentina did not win and its because people were all of a sudden taking the Pope as a god, and that he was the reason for Argentina reaching the final, well God had to intertwine and stop them from winning the world cup..This other thing with people calling Messi a god too was one of the main reason for us losing...Messi is a great player but never let him become a idol that you worship..

Sabella is a good man and may God bless him and his family..I too would step down rather than dealing with the corrupt AFA..

All the best to Sabella no matter what the decision he make.I will always be a fan of Sabella and will defend him no matter what..

THIS CORRUPT AFA DID NOT DESERVE THIS WORLD CUP TITLE ANYWAYS!!

At least one important factor in AFA will change in the near future: the retirement of Julio Grondona. He will be 83 in september and will not be around much longer. Although many expected him to step down 3 WC's ago...

It is true sabella is leaving through afa pressure and lack of respect, even media people in argentina and so called former legends are not respecting him, some people are even saying he is puppet for messi and co, I can understand if he leaves, the man is not getting the respect he deserves, he is by far the best coach we have now and the best since bilardo, if he leaves then the team he built will be gone, expect tevez and likes to be called and the harmony sabella built to be ruined, argentina is it's worst enemy

On one hand I would like Sabella to stay. He fixed defence and helped us to the WC final. On the other hand I like him to go. He neglected a lot of new talent and his dumb substitutions costs us the title. He choose loyalty and previous track records over fitness and form. Many coaches would not have taken unfit players like Augusto, Higuain, Aguero and Gago to the WC.

A new coach should keep defence and improve attack by bringing in new talents. Ramon Diaz might be the right man.

So if Sabella is ''simply exhausted, mentally tired.'' Then what does that say about Messi, Mascherano and co? So should Messi, Mascherano and co step aside too?

mental tired? Its not like Sabella is coaching a club team playing 70 plus games a season..Argentina played like 10 games in 2014, how in the world does a coach get mental tired from playing 10 games in 1 year or better yet 30 plus games in over 4 years..Lowe been around since 2008 yet he's not ''mental tired and exhausted''

Not a good reason for a coach to step down..The only reason I can see Sabella stepping down is because of family reason and bad relationship with the AFA, nothing else.

msi2: That happen because the AFA did not give Sabella any confidence to stay on as coach..Before the world cup Germany extended Lowe contract regardless of the outcome of the world cup..Lowe just said the other day that he will stay on as coach, the German football association believe in Lowe so he's giving back the favor..

The AFA never believed in Sabella, they were planning to give him the boot so that's why Sabella said he would not stay on regardless of the outcome of the world cup..The AFA never learn that's why Argentina wont win anything for another 30 years, not even Copa in 2015 & 16'..

Milito: Sabella should stay on as Argentina

“Sabella has shown he is capable of coaching Argentina and he formed a great base which could carry on until the next World Cup.

“Let’s hope he can carry on his work, which has been very good.”

Milito also talked up his nation’s chances of achieving glory at the next World Cup finals in four years, insisting that La Albiceleste have a great opportunity to win because the players are only going to get better.

“Argentina have a good chance [in 2018] because they are a force and they have great players,” he said.

“Almost all of the players that were in Brazil will be there, they’ll have more experience and that leads you to think that they can fulfill the dream that we all have - to become world champions.”

He added: “I think the base is there. If we continue on the same track that led us to the final this time, we’ll have a good chance of winning the title in Russia 2018.”

Even Diego Milito see it best for Sabella to continue..Continuity is the best thing for Argentina at this point not using 4 different coaches by the time the 2018 world cup comes around..

i watched all the games these guys were involved with... here are my thoughts.

Iturbe - played in the first half... he had moments of brilliance with his speed... but the game was pretty sloppy, so he didn't really shine. He also tracked back well. He was subbed off for the second half.

Paredes - came in the second half. It was clear he was the man on the field. He won few tackles, made a couple of good long passes, he was the free kick taker as well... He covered the midfield pretty well for the most part and He also took the corner which won the game.

Bruno - I was really impressed by him! I am sure you guys have seen his goal, but there was one incredible pass that he made in the first half that wowed me. He was everywhere... i was also surprised at how often i saw him joining the attack... specially for a holding mid. I really hope he gets playing time in City.

Lamela - So good to see him back. He has class written all over him. His poise, awareness, skill, shot accuracy and vision is matched by few. Only played in the first half and it was clear he was the best player on the park. He was also setting up plays really well and positioning guys on the pitch. I hope this does wonders for his confidence.

Sabella: "the selection is a dream, a set of ideas, giving before receiving and storing that small dose of selfishness that we have."

Sabella: "we are not more than the players for being a part of the coaching staff. We're not above them".

Sabella: "I want to congratulate Mascherano because he is a lion. Messi were the mainstay of the selection".

Sabella: "what is essential is invisible to the eyes, but this team made it visible. Created a bond between the people and the players".

Sabella: "prize they gave me has a little of each player, from which he remained until he was summoned once and not played".

Sabella: "Messi brightness at the beginning and then sacrificed his personal showcasing for the benefit of the team. It is altruism and generosity".

Perez--------Mascherano-------------Dimaria
