Juan ITURBE close to signing with Roma

Juan ITURBE, currently of Hellas Verona, is close to signing with Roma. Many reports are emerging that he will sign with Roma and not Juventus who were one of the front runners in signing him. The fee is reported to be in the 30 million dollar range.

I am thinking now one way to improve the Argentina formation is to reduce centering our game on Messi. This is because for a midfielder or attacker to play with Argentina, it is mostly considered whether his game rhymes with Messi's. It makes it more difficult for other talents. That could partly be the reason Sabella couldn't integrate Pastore.

Baker, not only argentina every team fails on set pieces, remember three of the important goals of argie came through set pieces.. Football is so globalized that its almost difficult to predict. Its not the time of Vasilis Tsiartas , juninho, beckham, pirlo , carlos or even veron era where setpieces are on top of the priority. Now every team plays with formation and tacticts on ruining opponent strenghts. Setpieces needs luck, remember messi goal against manchester reds and piatti being smallest player in valencia scoring two vital heads....

I'm not sure about goal scoring defenders, look where it got Brazil, but as for midfielders I agree. If only Pastore and Lamela would live up to their potential we could have had some serious weapons in midfield, but they didn't.

Just look at the goals scored in our qualifers..

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jHcumb5x4eU

all most all are in same pattern , any good coach would have seen this and made appropriate tactics to counter this for sure. And on top of that unfit aguero and pipita.

We need variations in goal scoring , we need goal scoring midfilders goal scoring defenders..

I feel Lucas Ocampos & Juan Iturbe are two finest talents that we will have at our disposal very soon.

The only way to break the deadlock on Messi is for OTHER players to do their jobs.

Kun...Higuain and DiMaria, well at least he did his job while the first two did nothing for most of the competition.

I'm not a psychic but seems to me La pulga is caught between his friendship to these guys and his overwhelming responsibility for the NT.

You don't think he's thinking, 'I did my job, I scored 4crucial goals that got us going when nothing seemed to work while the team stood by and did nothing......and they BLAME ME FOR LOSING....'

we need to find a way to break the man marking deadlock on messi, players who can build up on the free space available due to the man marking on messi, Messi + 10 others must have a proper understanding to convert the man marking to a blessing. must find a system for that i guess

ROMA is a very good start, but he'll eventually get his shot with the NT and that might not be until after Copa has come and gone.

Roma is a better choice for him. He would not be a starter in Juventus.

Out of all the players you listed, I think it's obvious that Icardi and Correa are the most promising. I can't wait to see Correa in Atletico. From what I've seen from him he could very well rival Iturbe as the most talented young Argentine player. He just needs to learn to pass the ball from time to time. I'm sure Simeone will teach him.

My years as Argentina fan taught me not to be blinded by U20 championships. I watched them all, from the days of Cambiasso, Scaloni and Bernardo Romeo (remember him) through the days of Saviola and D'alessandro and all the way to Messi and Aguero and guess what? None of them brought us a title (not even a Copa America). Believe me when I say that Iturbe is top class. He has dribbling skills that could one day match Messi's (I'm not kidding), and he has a killer shot. The only question is how well will he handle his career. His next team choice is extremely important, and I hope Rome is the right place for him.

Sorry for playing down the hope. I was watching him in the U20 Worldcup. He was a true headless chicken there. I was thinking he would never be better than the likes of Lavezzi or Alexis Sanchez. I hope he has progressed a lot and I am wrong.
