#ARG Line Up Against #GER

Alejandro Sabella has named his important line up he has ever done. Pretty much there's no surprise as rumours about Angel DI MARIA could be in starting line eleven didn't materialized. So no changes from the Netherlands match.

Sergio ROMERO; Pablo ZABALETA, Ezequiel GARAY, Martin DEMICHELIS, Marcos ROJO; Javier MASCHERANO, Lucas BIGLIA, Enzo PEREZ; Ezequiel LAVEZZI, Lionel MESSI and Gonzalo HIGUAIN

With that said, all we can do now is wait for the match. Enjoy the game wherever your watching from.

VAMOS ARGENTINA!

Who ever it is ....
1:We have to bring variation in out attacking style.
Now we are solely depending on counter attack that too depends on dimaria and messi.

2: Build for 2018 , bring youths for offense department.

3:Most importantly built a team who can handle pressure , look at 23 year old gotze handled the ball and made a winning strike . you need winning attitude to do that.

sabella has to go, I thank him for his time and he got us their by hook or by crook, take your pick.

he is a stubborn old mule and is not one to learn as he will always do it his way and he did it his way from day 1 and that's why even in shuffling the team from round 1 when were we were awful sabella still managed to bring on his fav in gago and pal no matter what the situation when other players would have been a better option.

at the end of the day he either did it all the way he wanted or he lost the dressing room and that is possible judging by the bone head lavezzi actions with the water and in that video some one posted.
I do thank him as it was one interesting ride but its time for him to go.

Brazil's true Glory ended with Ronaldinho's demise... this disaster was bound to happen and it is a shame that they will not be able to forget for generations... and if they appoint any European coach,, they will even fail to qualify for WC...

and same goes for Argentina... if sabella resigns,, then another native coach should be at helm... Trying to follow European model will not bring us any glory,, We must build from our own ideas to fight Europeans... Carlos Bianchi will be the ideal man...

@kid keep faith in our team. If Klose can win world cup at this age then certainly messi macherano can at 2018. Our main task should be find some creative midfielder we can keep possesion in small space and against high pressing .

I am totally devastated.. It is so painful to wait years after years and still no world cup.. i really feeling sorry for macherano and messi.

My biggest fear is from 2002 to 2014 we produced world class player in almost every position. yet this our first final appearance . With no true world class player in the pipeline God knows how many years we have to wait again.

but whatever happens we were always argentine football family and will always be.Vamos argentina

Aslam: I don't know about Brazil..They will have a hard time qualifying for the world cup for 2018..Brazil at the moment will be below Argentina, Colombia and Chile for the qualifiers, they will likely be fighting for 4th and 5th place with Uruguay and Ecuador..I don't see Brazil as a force anymore to tell you the truth, there football is going backwards..Brazil also failed to get a team in the Copa Libertadores semifinal for the first time since the competition been around..If you never notice Brazil football is not at a good place.

2018 will be a very tough WC for Latin teams... and after this failure,, i see a prolonged European domination... Europe now controls everything of football which i really hate... 3 consecutive WCs are now won by an European team and i just don't know when it will stop...

yeah we will win all qualifiers and friendlies and lose to germnay again

i agree lavezzi palacio are same no need to take both
but ceiminal was augusto, didnt even use

might aswell taken a 6th striker like icardi or even a shitty di santo, he would have scored those missed efforts by higgy and palacio

@Kid,

Germany will come strong to retain the trophy...
Yes Italy will come strong as they are out 2 times at group stage
Spain will come strong as they are out in group stage this time
Brazil will come strong...to prove the world that they are not dead
Netherlands will come strong to get the first trophy...

Every time teams are coming strong to win it...every time it is same...

We will also go so strong....not just to lose again...to win it...!

of course we cn do well

di maria messi will only be 30 next world cup that is fine

robben, sneijder persie all 30-31

swietsteiger 30, klose 36, lahm 30s,

30 is nothing man maradona was 30 in 1990, crespo 30 at 2006, ayala 33, etc

as long as players are good its fine

messi, di maria will be fine in 2018,

not sure about aguero or higuain, they will be 30 but rather they stay away now

Guys we can't beat around the bush anymore..Argentina so called weakness (which was their defending) became our strength at the world cup and Argentina strength heading into the world cup (which was their attackers) became our weakness..

Our strikers let us down big time, they could have done much better..

Russia will be a tough world cup to win..I can see Italy building a team to win in 2018 or even France..I don't see Argentina or Brazil making a challenge for the cup, maybe semifinal at best.

Palacio could have won us the game against the Dutch instead of going to PK's..Palacio had the opportunity to write his name in the world cup history book yesterday yet he failed again..Nothing special about Germany, they fought out a gritty win and its not like they were playing the most attractive football at the world cup.

Maradona done this in 1986 when nobody expected. And when all expected him...he lost it in 1990.

Messi lost in 2014 when all expected. And he will surprise us to win 2018 when not many expecting it.

@kid...may b players of lesser repute(icardi or any other damn 22~24 year old with potential) would have put that away or atleast made neur attempt a save. May be a nothing to loose attitude would have helped.

Whenever people criticised palacius here...i felt he is a hard worker, his time will come in the world cup. But man some guys are destined to only shine at club level. They cant do a zilch at NT level.. And we took a couple of them together as our subs.

Not to blame Sabella here, but we just did not try out any of our youngsters in our friendlies.

We blew it up man.No post mortem will help us. For every mistake our players/coaches make in a world cup..we fans suffer and get aged.

Hi guys, this is my first post here :D

Not much to say about the game. We couldn't capitalize our chances when it mattered. Argentina played well, even if it was without Di Maria, or healthy forwards. All we have to do is keep our heads up and looking to the future, with great new young players that should get the call soon. I am content with 2nd, i would've wanted the win but, playing how we were playing throughout the cup, we just can't complain.

After 2010 WC and 2011 copa disasters , we rebuilt the team from the scratch . New defensive unit , new counter attacking style.. it was really a tough job and with that we were just one lip away from glory.

bow we need to rebuilt from the current foundation , our defensive organisation is good , but our attack is very predictable we have scored tons of goals in very similar manner . we have to find good offense approaches and we need to create a good balance in the midfield .
copa is the best place to start with , we can use existing defense apart from Demi and fede and try to include mussachi he is young and can be vital for 2018 WC.
gago can go home , perez , amsch and biglia played their heart out and alon with that we can try gaitan,salvio,kranvieter...

And in offense we need to include iturbe/ocampos/lamela ...... pipita, kun should be benched and palcio will be out too..

We can have a good years ahead , and we will

Guys, I've been inconsolable for a day & vented a lot of frustration here. But I've realized something & it has brought me peace.

We are gonna support argentina even if they are coached by a buffoon, even if the team is made of pedestrians, even if they f*#k everything up.

We were always gonna back any argentine team no matter what the result was or however poorly they played.

But If we are totally honest with ourselves, we have to admit that this 2014 argentina side is nowhere near the best we've produced.

Just close your eyes & you'll see leaders like passarella & legends like kempes coming up trumps when we needed them the most.

You'll see burruchaga sprinting towards the goal, valdano's lung-bursting run, you'll remember maradona busrting through the opposition, scoring goals, caarrying argentina kicking & screaming. You'll remmeber ruggeri & luis brown.

Now compare that to wimps like aguero, maxi rodriguez, gago, federico, palacio & higuain.

Compare the bulldozing maradona to this half-fit messi. Messi's poor barca form this season fianally caught up with him. Di maria finished himself for bale, ronaldo & benzema in may. aguero finished himself for kompany & toures.

We reached this far only beacuse of sabella, romero, rojo, garay, messi, biglia, zabaleta, demichelis & El Jefecito - MASCHERANO. We can only grieve for these heroes. they deserved better from their more celebrated team-mates.

The other nervous, timid & average players don't deserve to be immortalised among legends. Messi was never at his best.

You reflect & you compare, then you'll realise that this bunch came close but always lacked the quality where it counts most which has undoubtedly been proven in the knockout stage.

Mascherano, rojo, romero, demi, garay, biglia, messi made us a formidable sword - but we always lacked that sharp cutting edge.

We never became the hattori hanzo sword.

This batch had greats like messi & mascherano, but the batch was never great.

Fittingly they didn't win it. Germany's golden generation did.

If we ever win, I want that win to be one the world will remember. One We will remember forever.

unbanable: I agree with you, it seems like the 1986 triumph will always overshadow the entire Argentina team at every world cup..Every world cup we head into, the name Maradona comes up as some barrier for the current NT to get over. It seems for some of these guys they're just not ready to take such giant steps...

I agree that Palacio and Higuain were all cowards..I give Messi a break because he was mentally drain to some extent for playing all those extra time but when you have guys like Higuain and Palacio who are less fatigue and more rested then they should be scoring those chances with their eyes close..

Lamela Iturbe Icardi For Palacio Higuain and maxi next worldcup also bring in kranevitter for gago. and Musacchio for Demi/Fede depending on fitness for Copa America. Rojo is a stud the guy will lead our backline in 4 years :) he is also friends with my favorite young player Lamela.

I watched the match with a bunch of guys whoo were all cheering for Germany. Well until yesterday I would just laugh at them, but after the way we played in the first half and also beginning of second it seemed like luck was not with us. I thought maybe the idea of having Kun as a secret weapon after special training will bring something fresh upfront, alas it was the otherway rround.
I felt like s#!@ after the match and wanted to let out a wild scream..
I could feel the pain lalettan (a famous film actor in India) portrayed in bharatham ( a movie) ..a sense of losing your very own brother who you love so dearly.
Felt sorry for some players in particular but like they say never let the hunger in you die and keep pushing to better the team and next WC would be ours...
Even when am writing this I am still in a shock mood not able to speak and just want to curse the bad luck with the chances we had..
But its life and I could light at the end of tunnel and with more time and preparation we would be a force to reckon with..
Vamos

I don't get these guys, they play in stress situation every day for their clubs yet they choke at national team level..These same German players face the same dilemma at club level yet they're always level headed and disciplined at major tournament.

sabella used good old fashioned commonsense to nul the germans there not world class players just a good system that was exposed by Algeria argentina ghana

just swoop on there back line and score, defend to the peno spot so the laat cross or pass doent result in a tap in

germany did nothing special GLEN HODDLE SAID THIS ON TV DURING THE WC GERMANY ARE PPLAYING ENGLISH FOOTALL BUT DOING IT DISCIPLINED

why england cannot do this is laughable its just basics ...his 100% right Argentina has ideas and systems and movement way way way above this and talent far more silky

Looking back at the game last night, it's incredibly painful to realise how close we came to winning that beautiful trophy.

@unbanable: Higuain was trying to score the same way he did against Belgium, it was a complete different situation, I don't know what Higuain was thinking..Normal, Higuain usually have a look up before he shoot, he did not yesterday..Higuain had time to control the ball and score the goal..All our guys CHOKE big time..Palacio, Higuain and Messi should have at least make Neuer made a save for crying out loud..Aguero was playing like he never play in that position before..For me our players were not mentally strong and cool headed to win this cup..Higuain chance was much easier than Gotze, same for Palacio..Messi was a bit more harder than the two but we have seen Messi put those chances away time and time again with ease..

the simple answer kid

is argentina need to follow thru on what everyone already knows there so powerful they can take 3 teams to a world cup no other nation has this im sick of this bull poop we hewre from the afa

of a main team and a hime team we need to build two actual teams take two actual teams to the wc and copas

we have so much talent and fight build two teams Brazil are finished Germany are hyped Argentina is Argentina get your finger out AFA and build teams

the striking talent we have the defenders the fighting midfielders we need to scoring defending units build two teams at a time not one

how many newspapers and sites say before every single world cup argentina could take 3 teams

well do it argentina do what everyone already knows build complete units

of the top of are heads we can list 2 11s easy that would be global top 5 teams

@pa-- and if it wasn't for the Hand of God and the left foot of God then argentina would never had 2 stars in it's jersey... this kind of Maradona hating is absolutely pathetic... Maradona is known for his maniac comments but in this WC,, his comments are purely logical... He said before the tournament that Germany was the team to beat and i remember that many of you laughed at him... In the end,, he turned out to be 100% right.. he was also right in saying that this WC didn't have any clear cut outstanding player... FIFA may have been a little biased towards messi and that is what angered Maradona the most... He has every right to say that because Messi didn't do anything spectacular in knockout stages... But Maradona was heartbroken more than any other Argentine there is no doubt... who are we to judge him???? we are just fans who support our teams while he is the greatest Legend of all time so he has every right to criticize any player even if it is Messi...

Messi is the greatest in this era no doubt but we can never truly compare him with past Legends simply because football has changed dramatically over the eras...

Actually the only one we missed in this WC was firepower upfront. We could not have believed before the WC it will happen. But it happened. Injury to Higuain,AGuero,Palacio just before WC and injury to Dimaria during the WC. We fuKd up with those.

Messi was the only player performing in front of the opposition goal. But still hes not same Messi of one or two years before. Back to back injury happened last year have changed his play.

Lavezzi played his part. He was not at his best but still you cant expect much more from him. He played his best game in the Final.

Argentina needs to build from home..We are a so call footballing power nation..We can't only rely on players playing for BIG clubs here or there..No matter what, we will always be at a disadvantage to the Europeans like Germany, Spain, Holland and Italy in the future tournaments to come if we are to rely only on the Euro base players. The top European clubs will not make their teams majority Argentinean or Brazilian..So we need to build from home and develop our own playing system at club level so we can take it into the national team..I remember the days when we had Lucho Gonzalo and Mascherano both playing for River Plate while representing the NT..My friends, for Argentina to be successful we need an home grown project not a Euro project..Argentina needs to have less players playing in England too, I don't want us to have a bunch of players, playing in the BPL..For me, its either home, Italy or Spain..

1978: Argentina squad had a lot of home base players, the same for 1986.

1994: Brazil squad was majority home base, even a young Ronaldo was on the bench..2002 Brazil had a lot of local base players on their squad Kaka, Denelson, Kleberson, Jorgiinho, Gilberto Silva etc..

What we have now its like in order to be recognize our players have to go to Euro in order to be a so call ''world class player..'' If we don't build from home then there will not be future success anytime soon..

HONESTLY I'M DONE WITH EURO CLUB FOOTBALL, I DON'T WANT TO WATCH IT, I CANT STAND THESE ARROGANT PEOPLES FROM ENGLAND AND GERMANY..I THIS POINT, I DON'T CARE HOW MUCH GOALS MESSI SCORE FOR BARCELONA; HOW MUCH GOALS KUN SCORE FOR MAN CITY ETC..THIS IS IT, I'M DONE WITH EUROPEAN CLUB FOOTBALL, I'LL JUST WATCH COPA LIB AND LOCAL ARGENTINEAN LEAGUE AND GET ON WITH MY DAILY LIFE.

Apart from Argentina, Chile and Colombia South American football was a disgrace at this world cup..Suarez and his biting didn't even help the cause..THE BIGGEST DISGRACE WAS BRAZIL WHO COULD NOT EVEN MADE GERMANY SWEAT FOR PETE SAKE GIVING THE GAME TO THEM IN THE FIRST 25 MINUTES..BRAZIL SHOULD BE A SHAME OF THEMSELVES AFTER THAT PATHETIC SEMIFINAL DISPLAY..THEY SHOULD HAVE AT LEAST TRY AND TAKE GERMANY TO EXTRA TIME..

@pa,maradona and tevez are happy with the loss,i can understand tevez but maradona,i have never seen pele say bad things about neymar, why badmouth your fellow country man when he is down instead of lifting his sprits, messi wasn,t interested the golden ball, but the media voted for him, now all the talk is the golden ball, no one is talking about the cup

THE Tall man betrayed us all (wink)....

@kid i lke your posts and we have agreed much but the germans playing together at club level has sweet FA to do with higuains miss etc

argentina out smarted germany and completly shut down there system and reduced there shots to mear back passes

it was missing open nets that cost us Argentina might is there for the world to see we dominated so many stats and we played lots of different systems and styles no other nation did this

Germany will dominate nothing everyone with a good team will do what Argentina did in the final and shut there system down there exposed now

it didnt hurt so much this time for me because it was clear we should have done it but alas we didnt being on only two cups is terrible and doesnt reflect reality of argentinas power

no other team is feared like we are this world cup again proves that...

we have great players and youngsters we have players who can continue and young players who can join them we have a great production line of dm's strikers and defenders im not interested in playmakers and shit that shit comes naturally and we can build there in those positions

messi will turn into a true linker creator with age

dont let age put you off guys we need youth and experience dont get sucked into the bull

also forget south America Europe Asian WHAT EVER THE FUCK its irrelevant we support Argentina not a Continent...

i was sick reading that bull poop here others are irrelevant..argenita are a power house and neede to prove it

sabella made one sill;y move with subs but that doesnt excuse the misses

i truly believe that good old fashioned 442 with fighters and creators is the answer

the 433 and 4231 thing is a phaze argentina have already exposed its floors

we need Italian legend defense and basil Argentina attack ...

argentina with grit wins things we almost did it again argentina were the better side and made clear chances out of nothing

are flowing game and are fantastic 4 were given a big fat fuck you by the football gods in that department

injuries galore before and during the wc

i want 442 with wingers fullbacks shape defending and counter attacks we need to combine natural talent natural bred argentina football with shere speed

and nock teams for 6 DI MARIA would have destroyed germanys back line

give me two fast forwards 2 fast wingers two midfield fighters 4 monsters at the back with argentina leather skin pit bull warrior fighting brains and flowing attack

BECAUSE THAT IS NATURAL TO ARGENTINA NO MORE FANCY PANTS IDEAS JUST PURE BLOOD ARGENTINE FOOTBALL

People seem to forget that Messi helped Argentina reach the world cup tournament scoring more goals than anyone else in the qualifiers. Then helped the team through the World Cup finals in Brazil directly in 5/7 matches. Argentina reached the final with help from Messi and he provided many chances yesterday, Too bad he didn't score the winner.

Icardi should get the call up..in the next matches. Higuain is a good player. But even in his top form...he missed many SITTER before. We cant tolerate with these. We need a real CF to give him competition. Icardi can be dangerous than him in near future.

Anyone is thinking that Messi will end his international career after this defeat? I have a weird feeling.

Spot on @kid, the English media is unfairly hating on messi becouse he doesn't play in their overrated league and he is Argentinian and here we have this selfish donkey maradona following their script, they are talking about messi doesn't deserve, well messi team reached the final with out him they wouldn't do that also he created the most chances and most dribbles, who scored has him no 1, and media voted for him not fifa, the hate towards messi is something I have never seen, and the sad thing is the guy doesn't deserve it becouse he is not arrogant prima Donna, I can understand hating on a player like the overrated Portuguese ronaldo becouse his behavior and arrogance but messi is never show off never acts like he owns the world yet the English are there to hate this young man, they don't respect his skills and are comparing inferior players with mechanical skills(Portuguese ronaldo for example) I think it has to do becouse he never played in their overrated league and he is Argentinian, but I will never forgive maradona the donkey for not standing up for his country man, he is happy becouse argentina didn't win

I agree. For once I would like Argentina to win a (FIFA) tournament.
My only thinking is; we scored one goal against Swiss after 118 mins ( with DiMaria on field) 1 goal in 90 mins ( with Di Maria on the field) and 0 goals against Holland and 0 goals against Germany in 240 mins ( withOUT Di Maria). That is horrible!
Just not good enough.

there is no reason to blame maradona for his opinion... this WC didn't have a clear cut outstanding player... Messi,Robben,Muller were on equal level in terms of individual brilliance... I think Maradona was more frustrated by the fact that Messi couldn't score in the knockout stages and he also missed a great chance in the final... saying that Maradona didn't want Argentina to win is really pathetic,, He is the reason why Argentina became a global football power in the first place,, beating Five champion teams in 1986 and 1990... He defended his country in the most hostile of environments,, the italians in 1990 basically booed Argentina in every single game and this WC felt more like home even if it was hosted by our Greatest Rival... Yesterday it was messi's ticket to immortality but God didn't favor him...

but that doesn't mean messi is lesser than Maradona by any means... There is no singular greatest player of all time... Pele was greatest in his time,,Cryuff in 70s, Maradona was in the 80s,, Brazilian Ronaldo in 90s,Zidane in 00s and this is Messi's era... they are all legends by their own standards... and failure to win WC doesn't make a player any less,, if it was so then Di Stefano and Cryuff would've never entered the discussion...

Messi will be 31 in 2018,, he can still win it but next time better strikers should be on the team... these so called big names have let us down when it mattered the most... i really feel sorry for Mascherano-- He deserved a WC for his heroic performance in every match...

The reason we played 3 consecutive 120 min games is because
Our forwards weren't good enough to score goals. So why are we surprised that we missed those chances?

To be fair, Germany are the worthy champions. They won the group of death, and beat France, Brazil, Argentina in the elimination phase. 100% champions.

Argentina is the second best team in the tournament and therefore runner-up is the right place (which i can't say for the 1990 team).

The strength of this the Argentina team is the defense, not the offense that many people fancied before the tournament. I solute to Sabella for building a strong team.

I told you guys, Diego is a narcissist..He's all about himself..even when he was coach of the NT at the 2010 world cup he made the team all about him..

I agree with Mourinho for once..He said ''a tired Argentina lost the world cup final..''We played 3 games in the second round all of them which reach the 120 minutes mark which was more than any other team at the world cup..This is not an excuse for our miss chances yesterday, but if we had score these goals then we would have control the game and could do less running and avoiding yet another extra time duel.
