Press Conference With Sabella

Alejandro SABELLA held the usual press conference with media at the Arena Corinthians prior before their practice session.

On what to expect from Argentina tomorrow "Football is a balance game, attack and defense. First defender is the attacker. We’ve improved in that aspect. Expect a great team and we hope to make a great game."

On Germany’s win over Brazil "I saw the first half and the second half for a while. A 7-1 result is not normal, it happens from time to time. It’s not a normal result when team’s with the best record clash. Germany was superior and played well."

He still hasn’t decided on what is the line up for tomorrows match but looks likely Enzo PEREZ will replace Angel DI MARIA in the starting lineup.

He also gave some comment on Louis VAN GAAL by stating that the Netherlands have a great coach and they can play in various formations and can’t seem to do any wrong. He also said that Arjen ROBBEN is a special player and must be given special attention.

SABELLA also had message to the fans "The message I can give is that we will work with humility, solidarity and sense of belonging. Then we will be the best in the field."

"After 24 years, Argentina is among the best four teams in the world. We will never settle for not trying or wanting to go to the World Cup final. These groups of players have already won. Now we’ll see if we can win more."

He agrees that both DI MARIA and Lionel MESSI are important players but also wants everyone to know that PEREZ also brings something good for the team. He also ensures that Kun AGUERO is getting better and is fit to play.

Looks like Demichelis too knows the weakness of Robben:

"He doesn't like physical contact, so you have to make him feel it and get under his skin. He is a phenomenon and it is vital to know which way he goes. But he's not got much edge, he's not a fighter.

Therefore you have to attack him because the more you stand off, the nearer to the goal you take him and the less margin of error you have"

After watching Germany rout Portugal 4:0, I immediately went to watch our 2012 friendly for some re-assurances a couple of weeks ago. Our defense held strong, though the Germans managed to get some half chances and Higuain was tearing up the pitch at the other end. Gago had a great game, as did Sosa, both full of running, getting forward and defending in a 442. That game was much more open than the Belgium game. Guys, I have no fear against Holland or Germany. Leading up to this game, defensively as a unit we are better than before and Sabella has shown his ability against the bigger European nations that play their own style.

All we need - is for Messi, Higuain and Aguero/Lavezzi to get back to the qualifier form as a minimum, since we have lost DiMaria. I think Messi can take his fedex role to scramble the ball to the forwards, but the other two must be on their game. I know Higuain is back, Messi has always been - now the question is Lavezzi/Aguero.

If the 3 of them show up, we will win!

Argentina need to win this match for south america sake. There can't be a world cup in brazil with 2 europe teams playing the final, and argentina and brazil fighting it out for the 3rd spt. That would be a greatly embarrassing scene.

COME ON, ARGENTINA.

One more point to add , we all expected the dominance of south american nations and having a cakewalk in this WC. even though many played really well. But now it is all in to our hands now .
And the climate and other barriers we discussed were clearly analysed and worked well by most of the teams , now we just have to play with our strength and win the match.

vamos vamos argentina

If history is anything to go by,then Argentina already have won this WC.Because-

1.Since round of 16 was introduced in 1986,the champion team has knocked out at least 2 European teams before winning the final.Among the remaining 3 teams, only Argentina have that record.

2. Argentina have played in semis stage of a WC 4 times and gone on to reach the final every time.9th of July is Argentina's Independence day.

3.In 7 previous WC finals held in South/North America,at least 1 South American team has reached the final and gone on to win it.Of course, history can be broken in any day,but not everyday.

I am quiet nervous particularly after 1st semifinal.

This world cup has surprisingly quiet resemblance from one game to another.

Common Resemblance :

1. Small team performed well in the group stage.

2. In the knock out stage: all the group champion qualified for the quarter final

3. In the quarter final : all the matches were very tight and hard fought.

Germany and Holland resemblance:

1. Both Germany and Holland winning their first match with big margin.

2. Both the team then struggled to perform dominantly against opposition / had hard fought win

Now in semi final, Germany beat Brazil by 7-1, I don't want to say it but if somehow Holland beat us 5-0/6-0 that would be devastating to us.

Only thing is favor to us, we have improved match after match. Every next match we have performed better than the previous one and the opposition also get tougher too.

So, I just wishes all the best and good luck to our team.

"Vamos Argentina"

Todays game was just not football. Brazil looked like they were playing smthn else. There is no need for panic. We are playing great D as a pack. If we keep it tight like this we have enough fire powers in the attack to take us across. Van Gaal knows what he is up against. Thatsy he is doing all the shit-talk. Close ur eyes and put urself in their shoes (dutch): i am sure u got scared! Germans don wanna face us either. Go Albiceleste! Go MundoAlbiceleste! United we Stand!

Sabella is the gentleman amongst the coaches. He's like Gary Lineker amongst reporters: always respectful.
I admire that.

He was there in 1998, knows what happened in 2010 and saw the game yesterday. He'll know what to do.
Aguero to replace Lavezzi for the last 25 minutes and score the winning goal? Let's hope so.

kid dude, step on up for the last 2 matches:
from my perspective you do write some good stuff but their is also this aggressive approach you have that really annoys people.
its all good to be the cheer leader but you seem to add to it "my(your)word is correct only" and that stance of the "only my word is correct" is a dangerous game to play, add to it the "im always correct game" or the "this is the way it will happen" etc etc because when things go wrong their are always those who will stick it to you big time.

simply put kudos to you for your stance but you need to be far more humble and accept their are other people with other thoughts and opinion's that do count, no 1 person will ever be correct in this game of football that in reality you, I or any other poster have any no control over how it all unfolds.

After the disaster that befell the Brazilian nation, we should not be arrogant or cocky.
This is football and it may happen to everyone.
Four years ago we lose 4-0.
I think the our 4-0 and their 7-1 should be a lesson for both us so as to be united and solidary as do europeans in all fields as referee and fans support from european ones for european teams.

Passion and emotions are funny things. They can propel you if channeled well, or be the cause of the downfall if one focuses only on that ! I hope our players and staff marry that passion with determination and logic, and most importantly stay focused on the job at hand. NEVER switch off mentally. Always play for the team and with your team-mates. Believe in preparation and planning, and execute it all well!

OFF TOPIC:(Sorry for LONG)
Some negative vibes are here on mundoalbiceleste.It is so unusual if you have been following mundo for a long time.The time where mundo was most beautiful was between the Copa America exit and worldcup. Since the start of the worldcup all have changed,changes includes;
**Uncharacteristic pessimism. It is normal to be a pessimistic fan.But saying Argentina won't win shit,'ll eat shit if Argentina win the match ...etc is beyond the limits.
**There is no more strategic criticism here. The word "strategic criticism" alone made all these problems.Who the hell are you to criticize???Are you enough to criticize the Argentine football???Who the fcuk are you,a coach???a,journalist???Hell
I strongly believe a fan can do only these things; Watch,Enjoy,Wish,Euphoria.
** Did I miss any announcement in mundo before a few weeks???Something like some play boy magazine planning to take over mundo???So much half naked girls with Argentine jersey...Wake-up pals, there are a lot of images of real men with blue and white jersey.
**Racism?Really???here?On mundo?
**I had confusions using plurals in English literature in school days.
The exact problem mundo facing recently. No more "let's,we,us,we could". A lot of people need basic language to be improved.
**Egos...The ego problem in here is more severe than real's galactico's ego.Who you think you are people???
** Are you getting money for every kudos???Hope the appropriate one recognises what I meant.ETHICS is much appreciated bro.
** Lastly kid to you.I always liked your post. You know that you are extreme optimistic,we too know that. And we understand that you enjoyed being here.If you think you don't have to post here anymore due to some conflicts with some members, you are breaking your promises...Sad,I and a few others expected a victory-speech from you bro...Hope you won't disappoint us.
** And yeah,Vickerman, planning for some jokes? Do it now. Everybody needs rest...

It's almost confirm.

Romero, Zabaleta, Demichellis, Garay, Rojo, Enzo, Biglia, Macherano, Lavezzi, Higuain, Messi.

It's about 90% sure for the starting line up against Holland.

8 solid defenders, plus a good midfield, and a good attack. Well balanced.

Gilberto Silva said it best on ESPN tonight, he basically said that we Brazilians tend to hide behind our 5World Cup victories and that's it, we didn't evolve with the time and have fallen back compared to other teams.

I said it many times here that their win in the Conf. Cup didn't mean anything, especially since there was no competition to speak of, compare Mexico in that competition to how they were in the WC.

They wanted to win by force, they got lucky against a BETTER Chile team and probably should have lost against Colombia had the REF. allowed them to play instead of getting hit, tripped, tackled whenever they initiated an attack.

Of course they would have you believe that they lost because they were missing Neymar and Silva, Rubbish.

They would have lost regardless, Neymar would have flopped around as usual and probably gotten a call or two but that's about it.

I especially found their theatrics very annoying, Luiz and others dropping to their knees and praying or pointing to the sky, and what about him and Julio Ceaser holding up Neymar's jersey as if he's dead or their savior GIVE ME A BREAK, that by itself was the most pathetic display I have ever seen in a football game.

I rewatched the brazil game and its not that germany was spectacular rather it was more that brazil was just god awful. first goal completely unmarked, next two goals giant mess-ups by the mid, and after that brazil was just completely demoralized.
