#ARG Arrives Back In Sao Paolo

The team departed in the morning from Cidade do Galo where they receive a send off from a group of supporters, on a chartered flight bound for Sao Paolo; at about 11.00 am local time.

At about 12.35pm local time, they have arrived at their landing destination safely and headed straight to their hotel, the Grand Mercure.

As always, the common ritual during every trip; a group selfie in the team bus courtesy of your in house joker, Ezequiel LAVEZZI!

The team will have lunch and a short rest at their hotel before heading to the familiar Arena Corinthians. Alejandro SABELLA will be giving a press conference at about 18.30 pm and shortly after that the usual practice session.

The hottest questions will surely be about the line up and formation for the semi final match up.  HHopefully we'll get some answers later.

I'll disagree. I am sure, if Holland reach final, Germany will demolish them. If Argentina, it would be even contest and Argentina will win it

@ Notoraj: I feel you man! Nice to see a fellow Finnish person in this board. I am new one here (been reading the blog for two years now, but never registered for some reason.. now I just had to!) and would like to saythis to everyone: I love Argentina national football team. Batistua was the personal god for me when I was a teenager and from that moment on I have been supporting ARG with all of my heart and soul! So let me raise a drink for your honour la albiceleste! Let's go all the way this time! Oh and by the way Argentina will beat Holland 2-0 with goals from Higuain (assisted beautifully by Messi) and Garay (corner kick header)

i seriously feel this will be the toughest game for argentina whoever wins this will be world champions no doubt about thatand brazil played poorly spcialy if thiago was there the margin would have been lesser no doubt about that this will be a good wake up call for argentina and sabella and all the players would be very cautious expct both teams to strt cautiously with less men commiting frwrd but i hv a feeling argentina will win this vamos argentina i always predicted it will be 1986 final lineup germany vs argentina so far my all predictions have come true hope remaining 2 will also be true and argentina will lift the cup

Argentina all the way. Winning the world cup again would be a dream come true. It is 28 painstakingly long years.

Please Argentina just two more wins and we can all celebrate.

7-1 as a score line...so what? Dont get really freaked out by this result. Germany couldnt defeat Ghana.....struggled against USA and Algeria whom they scored a goal and took them to extra time. France played better too and was attacking them enormously. Germany show could be over and their plan is exposed. You just need a great coach to hinder their tactics and make them look ordinary again like Ghana did.

@MoonBear - It's impossible to win world cup now a days only with EMOTIONS. Individualy Brasil is a average team. Scolari tried to inject emotions to this group only to ran hard and harder. And then they have failed.

@Mr.Khan Honestly man Netherlands isn't that good of a team they defend heavily with 8 players and pretty much use Robben's speed. Our team is well balanced now with attack and defense. Honestly after reading Messi's post on facebook I think he will unleash himself and I can see him scoring a hattrick or something that good. Also I hope we keep a clean sheet for Romero to be confident for final game.

@Ayr18 - We are the most underrated team in this world cup. Media talks only like "Messi is the one man Army in Argentina", but never write about Sabella and what we have done last two years. Good for us.

I understand the temptation to lump in what happened to us four years ago against Germany to what happened to Brazil today…due to the lopsided final score. That said, don't forget that our game was 1-0 until about 20 minutes left in the match when we had to push more numbers up front. The match today was 5-0 after 29 minutes. This seems like a pretty big difference to me.

Brazil conceded an unbelievable 4 goals in a span of 6 minutes! Think about that for. It is ALMOST physically impossible to score 4 goals in 6 minutes. By the time the celebrations is over and the ball is reset at midfield it takes about 60 seconds. Forget the teams, the context and the world cup, I don't think we will EVER see 4 goals in 360 seconds in an international match even if one team had no defense out on the field.

But I believe in my heart that every match is different and that is why they don't carry goals over from previous matches. My focus is 100% on the Netherlands now and if we clear that hurdle, today's score will really help Sabella in the lab as he will have everyone's total attention (even the jokester Lavezzi ;)

I knew then this Brazilians cudn't qualify for 2014 and I was right tonight!! They cheat against Croatia...0-0 draw against Mexico..win against Cameroon say nothing..almost out against Chile..struggle against Colombia...how they cud dream winning WC?? for fak sake!! German just mercy them not to win 10-0

If Brasil wasn't playing in their home, they hardy pass 1st round. This is the worst Brasil generation of football. In 2010 we were better than Germans- but wrong strategy by Diego and counter attack killed us. But 7-1 is different. You just can't win a world cup with running and making fouls. If this Brasil would win this world cup, I would have fucked my self.

Sabella is humble and full of respect for the opponent as always :

“He [Robben] is a very dangerous player when one against one, so we have to pay special attention to him. When he gets a bit of speed up, it is more difficult to take away the ball from him,” Sabella told a press conference on Tuesday.

“I think he is a great player, very important for Netherlands, like Neymar is to Brazil or Messi for Argentina. But Messi is the best of them all.”

Wednesday’s fixture will represent Argentina’s first World Cup semi-final appearance in 24 years, but Sabella claims there will be no greater pressure on his side than usual.

“The pressure is always there. [Getting to the semi-finals] was an extra pressure, I have no doubt. Now it’s a different kind of pressure.

“We enjoyed the quarter-final win over Belgium for a short moment, but we have to save energy, the celebrations have to be modest and we have to think about recovering strength because this goes on and it becomes more difficult.”

Some have painted the match as an opportunity for Argentina to gain revenge for their quarter-final loss to Netherlands in 1998, but the coach insists there will be no such talk from him.

“Those are ugly words, revenge and vengeance, especially vengeance. This is football and those words are not in my dictionary.”

I think today's game is a great story for historians, an odd changer for gamblers, a pride for German players, and a feast for German fans to last for long in their memories! but if you think about it, Germans have been there before! in 2010, they beat us 4-0, and the next day they are just an ordinary side! it has happened to us too. We beat Serbia 6-0 and looked like a genius one day in 2006 and the next day we were playing, well, a not so exciting game. Same is going to happen to Germany! they will go into the next game thinking that they're already champions and that's just the stuff we want! we need to keep our confidence without losing our fears! a bit of fear is always good!

messi is so close, only two games away, from proclaiming himself as the best ever...

but two BIG games i must say...

to defeat holland will not be easy... and if we do, then comes germany...

if messi manages to win the world cup in brazil, against the team that beat brazil 7 0, there will be no questions. he will be the greatest ever...

Germany barely squeak pass France 1 - 0, this result just shows that Brazil was always an average team that needed the refs help against Croatia; Needed the ref help against Chile and Colombia the same Brazil team that failed to defeat Mexico..What makes you think that: Jo, Fred, Paulinho, Bernard, Luiz, Dante, Gustavo were good players..These are all average players put together by Scolari..

After watching the beating brazil got from the germans, I come to conclusion that the dutch and the german teams are all about system. They struggled against organized teams and to defeat them is by being organized and being able to break up their formation in midfield. Today, brazil was a shamble and played like a bunch of school boys.

To those who indicate that whoever celebrate brazil loss as not Argentina fans by heart, speak that to yourself. There is no way that I will not enjoy this moment. You don't know me and you don't know the others and you just don't know what we've been through since we became Argentina fans. So, don't dare to say that you're more true fan than the others.

I don't know if most of you here are kids or not? Did you watch the game and the goals Germany scored today? There is nothing to be scared about this Germany team. It is more of Brazil stupidity than being Germany's quality.
1. Have you see the space they are given in the flanks? Argentina never gave such freedom for the opponents to roam as they like in this WC. We are as close and tight, closing all spaces, when we play in all the five games!
2. Conceding Early. Watch the first goal of Germany's goal today by Muller and remember our goal we conceded in WC2010 against Germany. Yes, if you conceded in the first 10 min you are in trouble. Germans will destroy you because they are ruthless!
3. Marking. Do not leave anyone unmarked in and outside the area at time of set pieces period. We are left off by Swiss but we have improved against Belgium. That is a plus. We have to keep going. Mark everyone. Simple.
4. Pressure. Messi and Co. do not have the pressure AS BRAZILIANS. Yes, there is pressure but not comparable with the Brazil NT.

Please BELIEVE BELIEVE BELIEVE that Messi and Co. will win this thing. They are destined to it. Our team is not depending on a lovely sweet play but on a RESULT, just like Spain in WC2010. Go check how many games Spain won 1-0 in WC2010. They even lost 1-0 agaisnt the Swiss in thier first game. Everyone kept doubting the Argies, but we kept getting the RESULT, that is what matters. And I am all for Argies. We will win this thing and We will SEE Messi picking that TROPHY!!!

Brazil played a 4-2-3-1 today against Germanys 4-5-1.

Brazil only had 6-7 defenders.

Hulk, Bernard, Oscar, and Fred do not play defense.

I'm so glad Aguero is not in our starting line up.

This is what happens when you defend against an organize offense, YOU HAVE TO DEFENED WITH 8 DEFENDERS AT LEAST.

@Thinker - Who do you think you are??? Get the hell out of here if you can't support Argentina winning WC2014. Go find Germany blogs and tell them that they will win this WC.

I have no idea how you are allowed to keep commenting such things in here.

@ The thinker: yeah, and I can assure you the Brazilians were quite happy back then! they come to our games just to support our rivals! so, I am celebrating this! and who knows, no matter how much faith you have in our guys, this might be the last moment of celebration left for me in this world cup! and I'm not letting it slip away.

some people here in argentina are saying that we make it to the final we should play a 3521:
three goalies, five defenders, biglia and demis in the midfield, and messi as a foward...

that is the joke...

but i think if we make it to the finals, it will be a great game, perhaps the best final ever, and if we do, then messi has a chance to proclaim himself as the best best ever...

i can only hope we beat holland tomorrow.

Today Brazil lost in their soil after 39 long years! Today's game broke so many records that it seems insane to speak of any, but there is surely one record that remains intact: no European team ever wins this in the Americas. May the gods of geography remain sober tomorrow, and may this rule prevail till eternity!

point is, brasil just stood around and watched.

germany was walking into their penalty area with 5 guys untouched.

if argentina make it to the finals, they have to play physical against the germans.

every time they touch the ball, argentina has to defend masche style: nudges to keep them off balance, shoulder tackles etc.

the germans have to be picking themselves up from the field the whole game.

So lets say we face Germany..Noway we can use 5-3-2 against their 4-5-1, we would be destroyed in midfield with tons of pressure on our back-line..That's a bad idea sorry, we should not play 5-3-2 against Holland either..Why would the coach want to change a winning formula we used against Belgium?

This Brazil team is the most overrated WITH Neymar, Silva and everybody else.

They would have still lost with Neymar and Silva, why because we all knew they were overrated, but the media likes to make something from nothing and FIFA could only help them so much, otherwise the Ref. would have been forced to call at least one PK in today's game.

Did you see how they were all diving and flopping around, I would understand if the score was close, but that was pathetic when the score is 5-Zero and diving.

Germany is an incredible team probably one of the finest team they have ever produce.

Brazil squad is the least talented ever played in the world cup. Probably except Neymar, T.Silva and Oscar rest of them doesn't deserve to be in the Brazilian squad. They all are pretty average / below average rated player.

Today is the most saddest day / Dark Day of Brazilian Football history.

It's like 2nd world war story.

People of this generation will tell this incident to their grandchild.

Once upon a time there was a Brazilian team who were destroyed by German and it was D-Day 8th of July, 2014.
That day it wasn't Berlin that fallen rather it was Belle Horizonte which was shattered by German guns.

The same thing happened to us in 2010, what happened to Brazil today.

Do not abandon your defense and go all attack. That's what the Germans want. Their offense is based on defense mistakes and spaces.

With this victory,, Germany already has one hand in the cup... If you are an Argentina Fan by heart then you will never celebrate this win... Even the most craziest Argentina supporters in my country today are pin drop silent while the Brazil supporters are crying with their heart out...

We should never forget what germany did to us 4 years ago... This was a sad day of football too...

@the thinker and ALL others thinking that way...

Please don't take away so much from this game. Brazil just did not show up today, end of story. It would be easier to point out one thing that was wrong, but the reality is that they looked bad EVERYWHERE.

Regardless of tomorrow's outcome, either team will not concede 7 goals in a match. I don't know what the Brazilians were thinking, but even they admit that this Selecao looks awful compared to previous versions of the team.

I think you have to play one game at a time, and be tactical. I mean today was amateur hour guys. It looked like a professional team against a high school team.

This is the kind of loss though that will set back Brazil 20 years. You can't re invent yourself, and as we have learned over the past 5-6 years, as great as Messi is, one man alone cannot be a team. Brazil learned that today with Neymar. That is why others need to show up.

Also, we beat Germany 3-1 in Germany a couple years back, and I suspect Sabella will play a 5-3-2 if we make it that far and the game plan will be to keep the score sheet clean and hope for a Messi miracle.

brasil was not defending at all.

they were just standing around watching the germans play a training game.

brazilian arrogance plus losing neymar, lack of effort and standing around really cost them.

the german strategy was always trying to score first and fast. usually that cross from the side.

you have to counter by scoring first.

they also are always in position and play tactics and passes football.

man to man marking is essential, high pressure and rushing the ball carrier before he can make the pass and intercepting the ball is crucial.

hard tackles and physical football.

you can't stand around watching the ball with germany.

attack hard and physical football that breaks their formation and blocks their passes and crosses.

Now i prefer perez over ricky, coz ricky may lose possession too often... We need to take every chance we get, germans scored 90% of their chances, it we did that against belgium scoreline wud hav been atleast 4-0....

A month ago, before the WC started, I said this, “He who exalts himself will be humbled and he who humbled himself will be exalted.” It will take place in this WC!

Now, the obvious victims are:
1. Belgium
2. Brazil

Now Brazil is eating their own “YELLOW”! For those who hoped Brazil to win to set up a South American final. Shame on you! Seriously...I am telling you as I might not post often now, as a MUNDO ALBICELESTE fan, NEVER EVER ROOT FOR BRAZIL! NEVER whatever your reason is. Even if there were a match of an Alien soccer team who is a threat to mankind vs. Brazil, you can not support Brazil there! That's Mundo Albiceleste passion.

I know some of you are South American futbol lovers. Guess what? I might be a more of latino futbol fan more than you. My favorites league is not La Liga or serie A or EPL. My favorite has always been Argentina league. The players are mostly unknown to the world futbol, but the futbol passion is amazing. Just because we love South American futbol does not mean that we have to expect others, ESPECIALLY BRAZIL, to ever win.

Do you understand how amazing it was when the WHOLE Argentina players and coaches sang:
“Brasil, Decime que se siente
(Translation): Brazil, tell me how it feels

Tener en casa a tu papa
To be bossed about in your own back yard (Literally: To have your dad at home)

Seguro que aunque pasen los anos
It's sure that even when years go by

Nunca lo vamos a olvidar
We will never forget

Que el diego te gambeteo
That El Diego 'did' you (with a trick/nutmeg; reference to Italia 90)

El cani te vacuno
El Cani (Claudio Caniggia) immunised you (reference to Italia 90)

Estas llorando desde Italia hasta hoy
You've been crying since Italy up until today

A Messi lo vas a ver
You're going to see Messi

La Copa nos va a traer
We're going to bring the cup home

Maradona es mas grande que Pele
Maradona is better/greater than Pele

And how in the world would you still root for Brazil VICTORY just because you love South American futbol? Although we’re just fans, can you imagine us singing together with Messi, Aguero, Romero, Garay, Sabella, etc in the locker room?

I notice that a lot of you are just too proud of your own opinions. It’s like a lot of you are competing to be Paul Octopus 2.0. You really want your predictions, your opinions to be correct and let the world know about that. I mean, what is that? That means nothing. Before the WC, I predicted Argentina-Germany final. Now it is almost correct. But so what? I am not proud at all.

Kidult, this is for you. You are one of my favorites posters here and I like you a lot. You bring “life” to Mundo. You defend this Mundo. But you have to understand that a lot of people here look up to you. A lot of them like you. So you must set an example for them as how to be a “good Argentina fan”. You do not say that you WANT Brazil to win at all. That’s a virus to Mundo Albiceleste to me. Instead you need to tell them how to sing “Brasil, Decime que se siente” with passion.

I know you are sick of the “arrogant” European based posters here like Outlaw or Dammage7, but that does not mean that all Europeans are like that. Germany and Brazil for example. Who is arrogant? It is BRAZIL! Luis Scolari said a month ago that they would WIN the World Cup. No other 31 coaches said that. Scolari announced his final 23 like 2 weeks before the deadline. That’s arrogance.

German was pretty humbled. Even 12 hours ago, they even said that they believe Brazil is not weaker without Neymar and Thiago Silva. They don’t show any sign of being arrogant at all. It just they are a well oiled machine. So just because some of our Euro friends here sound arrogant to you, does not mean that you can’t distinguish who’s arrogant, Brazil or Germany.

The same with us, let's take it one at a time. Don't talk about meeting Germany. Let's talk about Netherlands first.

Anyway… "Brasil, decime qué se siente tener en casa a tu papá.Te juro que aunque pasen los años, nunca nos vamos a olvidar...Que el Diego te gambeteó, que Cani te vacunó, que estás llorando desde Italia hasta hoy. A Messi lo vas a ver, la Copa nos va a traer, Maradona es más grande que Pelé".

EAT THAT “YELLOW” ALL YOU BRAZILIAN SUPPORTERS HERE!
