RIP Saeta Rubia
Sorry if this article was posted a bit late but nevertheless I still it is important for us to pay tribute to one of Argentine greats.

Yesterday Senor Don Alfredo DI STEFANO passed away following a heart attack on the 5th of July. He was 88 years old.

I’m sure by now we all know the success he had for Real Madrid and his time in Spain but let us also remember the time he played with the Albiceleste; even though it was just a short period, but it was truly a memorable one for sure.

In 1947, Argentina travel to Ecuador to defend its Copa America title. In a round robin format, the team won six games and drew one to emerge champions for the ninth time. DI STEFANO was the team’s top scorer, bagging 6 goals including a hat trick against Colombia. He never represented Argentina after that.

Diego MARADONA once said "I don't know if I was a better player than Pele but I can say without doubt that DI STEFANO was better than Pele."

That to me says it all about the legend!

The AFA have made a request to FIFA to hold a minute silence before the kick off against the Netherlands.

On behalf Mundo Albiceleste and fans of Argentina, Rest in Peace Saeta Rubia, gone but never forgotten!

One of the game's true legends.

It's beautiful to see him in the Albiceleste strip. What a shame that he didn't play more for his country. We may be chasing a fourth, rather than third, star this week, if he had.

Rest in peace Alfredo x

RIP Legend. You died before seeing Messi lifting that Cup, I know that you'd loved to hold on until next Sunday and then die with the smile in your lips.

We will win that cup for you, for 40 millions of Argentinians and much more fans around the world.

R.I.P Di Stefano.

5 successive European Cup triumphs with Madrid, and he scored in ALL 5 of them! An incredible feat.

There's no doubt that you, Sir, have inspired many great players in your era, who in turn have inspired many others. Thus your legacy and influence shall live on forever.

listing Pele in a best ever list is absurd. He is the biggest lie ever created by FIFA's media. The most overrated sportsman ever.

The 2 WCs he won (third he was injured, contributed nothing) were won by magnificent teams. Take out Pele and play Fred and they'd still won them.

The 1000 goals is the biggest joke ever. Scored in the Brazilian league and MLS. I would love to see Crtistiano Ronaldo play in the Brazilian league. He will hit 2000.

Everyone is free with his/her opinion. But as Argentina fans we should know better about this hypocrite called Pele...

the 10 players who are not just "great" players but are the Greatest Legends of history..

Maradona,Pele,Garrincha,Zidane,Messi,Brazilian Ronaldo,Di Stefano,Cryuff,Puskas,Beckenbeur...

Maradona will always remain the Greatest ever but that is just my humble opinion... after this WC is over,, Many will have messi as the Greatest ever... Some will always have Pele or Di stefano... Every person's opinion should be respected if they name someone from this 10 Legends... they are the greatest players of history who transcended the mortality of this world through their Miracles on football pitch...

One of the the greatest players in the history of football with Maradona,Pele,Garrincha,Zidane,Cryuff,Messi.... the greatest Legend of Real madrid who defined the very ethics of Madrid...It is a shame that a Legend like Di Stefano never played the WC with Argentina and he switched his nationality many times due to this.. He could've played both 1950 and 1954 WC with ease but the Fascist Argentine Government cared more about their "images" than football... It is a sad year of football as two Mighty Legends-- Di Stefano and Eusebio have passed away...

May your soul rest in Peace...
