i believe in divine intervention!
everything 'll b alrite.
the albiceleste dun forget 've NOT arrive in dis world cup yet.
they will !
remember a few guys 're still not ready, higuain, comes to mind.
the rest@basically up to speed ,especially romero, rojo where everybody loves to hate.
I'm rather surprise@dis 2 performance.
another player u guys dun like is gago?
he's very important to the team&messi,he's the one dat GIVES leo the ball !
obviously,he's not fit, dats y sabella take him out late in the game but mascherano 'll appreciate his prescence, for sure.he's basicaly a link between defence&attack,a very important person!
the pivot point of our attack is not there, yet.
when our centre forward finally click, juzz see how we goes!

im in both camps on this, yes I do want us to win more then ever, 100% yes and I would not care if we won every game 1-0 from now on to win the w/c but im really perplexed at what is going on with the team, how can we go from top of the quails to what we are seeing today? and that is just short of crap.

at the end of the say is the manager who has to shoulder most of the blame.
my self I felt for a long time sabella has failed to experiment more as he should have in friendlies, I don't believe he has taken the correct mix of players and as a coach I don't believe he really has other plans or the plan b we talk about and this is now showing we are even more reliant on messi then I could have imagined.

I will never write the team off as we do have messi and no matter who takes the field I will always 100% back them.

again as I have said this before "we will win this w/c because of messi and not because of sabella"

@dammage. I actually totally agree with you.
However our coach has painted this team into a corner
Only using a handful of players (Gago, Romero) trying to create a
False sense of chemistry. At the expense of not giving
Deserving players a fair try (willy,Perez, Gaitan).
Now that some of those inferior players are not performing he is left with the handful that he called ( Maxi). Sabella is not good enough to shine Peckerman's shoes.
Only Mrssi can cover his ass now. It all comes back to......AFA

I hope BELGIUM play an open attacking game but they won't. ALL of the other coaches are shit scared of MESSI! He is the most marked player since EL DIEGO! three or four at a time constantly trying to stop him. Yesterday,in the 118th minute, MESSI received the ball in some space, five seconds later DI MARIA scored. ALL the coaches realise that MESSI can kill you ANYTIME! No player in the history of football has ever had as much influence on his team-mates on the pitch as EL DIEGO! MESSI is "stepping up to the plate" big-time and producing at the most important moments! Regarding positive/negative comments, my stomach was churning yesterday watching the match, really nervous and anxious as you all were! but the joy when DI MARIA scored! VAMOS ARGENTINA !

@dammage7 yes I did see the game and that was the best he (Gago)
Has played all tournament long. There was an actual statistical analysis
Done on him showing how effective he was.
That being said Enzo Perez deserves an opportunity if Gago
Sputters again.

@trini, I know Perez and Gago's history. I am not criticizing Perez either. but even top quality players need some time to get used to their teammates. Gago served us well in the past. But Sabella hasn't prepared any replacement for Gago. Of course it's Sabella's fault.

Hey hombres

sorry again but Higuain was realy bad again !
he should not start every game ! i prefer palacio and pocho - with messi in 4-3-3 !

Belgium will attack alot i bet ! Lukaku had an amazing night yesterday ! they are strong with the wings left an right ! its a good team but its good for us when a team play more offensiv ! so we have more free areas on the field - but for this we should play with the moving players like pocho an palacio ! not with higuain who just stand in the front !
we gonnnnaaaaa wiiiin hombres !
Dallleeeee Argentina !!

I'm very happy that we get through the next stage! I was so excited when Messi played the ball to Di Maria and Di Maria put it in the net! I will be praying that we can score early in the next game for my own health. I believe we can still beat Belgium. Right now depends more on the mental strength.

I'm quite worried about Higuain since he must feel the burden and expectation to score. I was not expecting Sabella to take out Lavezzi, I thought it would be Higuain. I will be happy if Palacio and Lavezzi start, but I can't really blame Higuain. He has no ball supply, we know how he scored in 2010, good positioning with someone pass him the ball. He is no Messi or Di Maria who likes dribbling.

I have watched Belgium and USA last night. I think Belgium will attack us right from the start.

they have a great attack but their backline didn't look much convincing, especially the left-back area. USA were constantly targeting this flank and Belgium could hardly stop any cross. Also, there is a hole in Belgium's defensive midfield.

this may play into our hands. We are best when we are able to launch quick counter attacks. But we must first bite the bullet. Belgium will try to bypass our fullbacks with quick one-twos and they have a incredibly talented squad. Sabella must make a bold decision regarding Fernandez.

Perez has played and performed in the Champions League and Europaleague final
For Benfica this season. Compared to Gago who has been released and sent packing from Europe (club football's highest level) to go back to Boca and play
Below level soccer and then get injured and sit on the side lines.
Do not pick on Enzo Perez, pick on the unimaginative coach for not being able to
Incoperate him into the starting line up.

I dont get much chance to visit this blog nowadays. But very surprised to see your comment @dammage7: "if argentina win i will eat my own shit....and i am a die hard argentina fan"..This is very contradicting. I'm sorry to say that I don't really believe you are a Argentina fan. Maybe you love Argentina only when the team play well. You may say you are realistic, but I get the feeling you'll be happier when the team lose and then you can brag about your realistic thinking and analysis.

Also, please don't ever wish any injury for players. If I'm not wrong I read somewhere (in this blog or maybe not), about wishing injury to Rojo and Romero. Rather than that, why don't u wish for injury for the opponents instead. That seems more like what a fan will do (although I myself will never wish injury for any player even an enemy).

lets just hope sabella has the balls to drop higauin, that then bring him on if palacio shit, higauin will come on and score as he will try harder to get back in. Alot of players when dropped and then come on perform, as they realise they cant be complacent as assume you are first on team sheet, look at lukaku,

I remember just after the nigeria game eveyone were rooting for lavezzi,,, Lavezzi is this he is that he is in the form of his life... blah blah blah...now he was so invisible in the whole game and almost cost us a goal when he lost the ball like a school girl where our defenders had to come to the rescue... No body wants lavezzi to start anymore!!! hahaha

Lavezzi and palacio can only come good as subs my frens. Sabella brought 5 stikers messi, higuain(25+goals this season) aguero(almost goal per game ratio this season) and lavezzi and palcio. But kun's injury and higuain lack of form has backfired. So unless kun is fit i still think higuain should get the go ahead.. palacio and lavezzi wont impress no body as a starter. Ann about gago... yes he was impressive during the qualifiers along with fede.. but he clearly seems out of form . he is supposed to be our deeplying playmaker but its not working a t all.. I wouldnt mind Biglia in for gago against belgium as i feel Biglia is a top box to box mid and Ricky for lavezzi. Ricky is a natural playmaker and we are lacking a good mid .He can hold the ball thus drawing defenders and getting free kicks. 4-4-2 is the best formation against overrated belgium. If belgium play agaist us like they did in the last 4 mathces thay stand no chance. How many chances usa misses yesterday?? the biggest threat for me is the Dutch!! we will easily get pass belgium!!

We were relying too much on the Fabulous4 during qualifiers. Gago was never a Pirlo. Gago's main duty has always been simple - making himself available to teammates under pressure, collecting the ball, pass it to mainly Di maria and provide some protection to back-four. But now the scenario is different. Fab4 is not functioning as expected. Higuain can't even hold the ball or, drag his marker to wide areas. On top of that, every opponent has played defensive football against us. So Gago has failed to make much of an impact.

The tried and tested replacement for him is Biglia who is primarily a defensive replacement. Sabella hasn't played Enzo Perez much. In fact, I can't remember watching him play for NT during QF. So if Sabella decides to replace Gago with a more creative player, he will have to go with Perez. Now, how many of you really fancy playing Perez in a world cup Quarter Final match (which will also be his wc debut probably?)? Sabella has made a mistake by not playing Perez in the closing stages in this tournament. He could give Perez a few minutes instead of opting for Biglia.

Higuain must be dropped. he has got enough chances. Palacio must replace Higuain.

The most worrying though is the form of Fernandez. He is making some good blocks but he is allowing wingers to go past him far too easily. This is resulting in clear goal scoring chances for opponents.

We ran out of ideas when Switzerland parked the bus against us. We need to solve this problem.

We were vulnerable when they counter attack us. But improvement was seen in the second half, probably becos the Swiss were tired. We need to solve this problem too.

We had these 2 problems when we played against Iran.

It is good for Di Maria to open his scoring account, he will be motivated and get better.

I expect him to provide more in the next match.

Higuain is still not at his best yet, but I can see improvement from the first match until now.

We are to predictable going forward.
The field is cut in half for us with only 4 players having to create the offense
No runs coming from Gago or Mascherano means the 3 or 4 players up top have to Crete on their own and so it turns into an individual game rather than a team effort going forward.
Great job by Palacio breaking up the play to create the goal. We will need more pressure like that (Bar a style) in order to create easier opportunities to score.
I never thought I would ever say this but...."we will Miss Rojo!"
Great stuff Romero and Federico. Gago finally had a decent game. We NEED Higuain.

@dollon But you have in yesterday match a few of typical moments when striker must be fast and rapid enough to overtake the ball. Higuain isn't and will not. He had 4 matches - 4 chances!!! Probably Campagnaro would be better in his position.

If the Argentina we saw in the WCQ doesnt' show up in the next game, we're out my friends. Whatever happened to the players' attitude and approach of the team that got us all excited in the WCQ? I've seen us play very well even without MESSI (vs Italy & Bosnia). My main concern is the lazy slow pace game and our shape off the ball. I know we'll beat Belgium becoz if they attack us like they did against US. if we start like shit on Saturday, I promised my self that I won't watch the 2nd half.

"Argentina have had very positive results so far and I have a lot of faith that they can make it deep into the tournament.Even if it is true that the performances haven’t been at the highest level, they won the games and that is key in a World Cup campaign. You need to build confidence little by little and I think the team will be improving game by game"

@ Outlaw and the other crows here: I fail to realize how can one find taste in losing. It may be a beautiful lose, but it's a freaking lose at the end, you freaking lost. No matter how you plaid, people will always say that you're a loser and remember you lost.

If you are like that, I better say, go for poker and gambling. You may enjoy losing only there.

A REAL ARGENTINE IS NEVER PROUD OR ENJOYS THE LOSING RESULT. The pain will pass, but don't speak to him for at least one week, after the match Argentina lost.

@outlaw, Its been 28 years we did not win WC. We last reached final in 1990 and after that we could not reach even ..! We know how we reached 1990 Final with pure defensive play and a heroics of GK even though we had Maradona...! In 1986 it was not different we were using defensive tactics and was using Maradona for his Magic...and he has won it for us. Since those two finals...we are playing attractive football but still no WC glory. I prefer WC than beautiful football...we can play beautiful football after the WC. Here we want to win the cup...anyhow..! We cant lose every time....because we are Argentina...we deserve more WC than any other team in the world..!

Complacency has been ARG's downfall for the past 24years.

Do people realize that back in 1990, ARG had 2 WCs and just lost the final, while Brazil had 3 and then they JUST TOOK OFF

I remember Copa America 1999 when We've lost quarter-finals match against Brazil (1:2). We've played very well that match with domestic players and I was proud for Argentina afer that tournament.
I remember Copa America 2004 final match. We've lost after penalties. But have been better than Brazil and I was very very proud for Argentina after that tournament.
Therefore, I think, sometimes lost after good game is better than win after deplorable match.

certain players have ahd 4 chances. they need to be dropped
that is higain and gago.

other countries aren't scared, wilmots dropped lukaku.
players are picked on names and not on-field performances.

whether 4-4-2 3-5-2 or 4-3-3, gago and higauin need to go. they will not score, are get fit are become stars

di maria had a shocker but we could tell with his speed he could still do something, he can still create something. higauin and gago look out of place. its so so so bad people cant see.

---biglia--masherano
ricky---messi--di maria
-------palacios----

what has higuain done, he has had few chances and missed.

when we lose to belgium those who are too optiistic will be like, or sabella why did yuo pick higauin.

on form he is awesome but he is not performing so give some hungry people on the bench to perform

Diego spoken

""I don't think we've started yet. The team has no change of pace, no movement at the front. I have something inside of me that is very strong, it's like bitterness, rage, anger. Argentina will have to play much better as a team."
"Messi is very lonely. The Argentina midfield falter much and do not take initiative. If Messi does not take it forward we will fall in the next round as that will be to blame for Argentina's catastrophe"
"The team is playing at 40 per cent of its potential. There are players who have not yet started playing the World Cup.
"Belgium is another matter. If Argentina does not wake up, we're in trouble."

If Argenina loses, I will always support her(I say her, because she's my love, my darling), if Argentina wins, I will always support her. If Argentina draws, I will always support her.

If Argentine's players play like shit, I will always cheer for them, shout, scream, until my throat pains and hurts. If Argentine's players play awesomely, it would seem to me better than sex. If Argentine's players play like shit, but win, it'd make me say some prayers to Jesus, Allah, Jahweh, Buddha, Shiva, Krishna, Zaratustra, Zeus, Amon Ra, and some more deities and then dance like a Shaman... (for all the brothers here, no religious jokes intended).

If Argentina's coach knows how to fix mistakes, it'd make me praise him. If he doesn't call up my favorite players, it'd make raise my eyebrows, but think and come to the conclusions that he knows it better.

If Argentina's opponents score, I turn my head off the TV and bring all the insults I even hadn't used before in my life. If Argentina's opponents park the bus, I scream with my all voice, open that defense, you cowards (even I know that it's our duty to open that).

If Argentina's opponents are endangering us, I grip my chair or cough so tightly that I could break it.

This is to describe how a real fan is. I read some more comments, who made me think that these guys are so bad that would cheer up and say "I told you so". (One even openly said here below, Dammage 7). I ask myself what then? You will say so, but who cares? We real fans will not because of you change our mind... I also don't ask you to change yours, but what did you earn from this bashing? If AFA calls you to become the next coach, then ok, otherwise WHAT ON THE EARTH DO YOU GAIN?

Another one called us prunes, because we live in Wonderland and the world is made of wars and genocides. Who cares? Besides, are we going to solve them? Apparently not... So what's the fuss about calling us dreamers? Yes, we're dreamers... bring it more, if we could have passion like this in the other things we do in life.

(Maxi Lopez apparently has many other nicknames, ID and followers, he spoiled his blog and has come to spoil this too).

Or the comments that all the journalists are criticizing Argentina... Who cares? Journalist will find always fault, always use sensational titles and writings, as that brings more audience to them.

I am also sad that true fans here have left, because this blog has become a nightmare to read.

PLEASE TRUE FANS, COME BACK, WE NEED YOU IN THE WAR AGAINST TROLLS, FAKE FANS AND NEGATIVITY. THIS IS OUR JIHAD FOR OUR SUPREME FAITH.

FOR ALL ARGENTIAN FANS::
I will not talk about swiss game.. Now we face belgium different team than all other teams we met.. 1st class players.. Attacking... So fast.. Well finishing.. Good defence!!
How to play: playing 4-3-3 will take us home!! Hazard-mertenz-de brune-lukaku will kill us in counter attack! We will lose 3 to 4 if we play in this formation.
May god give sabella the wise and encourage to play 4 4 2 with a balanced game..
Now we r not facing nigeria-iran-swiss we r facing team has no mercy or space for luck to wait till last minute to let messi score or assist...

Ok.. R u with me?!

Playing 4/4/2 will make us find our balance and play for our chances:

Zaba - demic - garay - basanta

Plzzz demich instead of FF he is shaked everytime my heart blows when he is 1 to 1 or the ball with him.. So we need demich.. But i beleive that sabella in this will not change mind😙

Enzo- masc - gago - dimaria
Sooo balanced.. We can control more the pocession and the counters of belgium.. We will support more our defence..

Messi - lavezzi/ palacio
Messi should return to his postion in this game if lavezzi played making both di-maria and lavezzi our LW / RW 4-3-2-1
If palacio played messi should be behind playing 4-4-1-1

Sabella should rule out HIguain.. Its over ! He played 3 matches with last 120 min we r losing balance with no benefits... Fat - snowman- no feelings- no spirit- with nothing really nothing!!!!

Last word for sabella: Its ur last chance! If u will not read this game rather than changing formation with some encouragement u will lose! Lose 4 years with nothing to remember!!

Plzzz wake up wake up!! Messi cant help u in last minute everytime!!!
The luck will not beside us every time!! Wake uppp!!!!

Thank u all... Vamos argentina.. Comments??

Quick question: How long should it take for a professional player to 'GET FIT'?

It seems like we have been declaring Higuain UNFIT for the last 3 months. Does someone have to be playing consistently for over 6 months to be FIT? I don't really understand what FIT is anymore.

He's been training with the team for weeks prior to the Mundial, he's played every single match for considerable minutes…including the entire 120 yesterday, he hasn't picked up any new injuries as far as I know…

At what point do we drop this entire "Higuain is not FIT" narrative and just conclude this guy is a decent player but this stage may be too big for him? I mean, seriously, when is this guy supposed to be declared FIT? When he finally scores? Let me know if you have the answer.

It's sad to see that some of you guys are mad when we criticise the way argeentina has been playing. We are stubborn and Sabella as well. after 4 games nothing has improved. We played against teams that was no real threat to us expect Bosnia. We played poorly every game with yesterday the poorest. All the media even in Argentina are waving the red flag for saturday. We are going home is saturday. Why?

Because aside from Basanta replace Rojo, Sabella won't make any changes in the midlle. Why dimchelis not replacing FF? Why Campagnaro not playing? Why Enzo or lucas biglia doesn't coming in to replace Gago?
The formation needs to change. It's ok if we are carefull by defending more against Belgium. The reaason why is because any time MEssi can make the difference if the score is 0-0. But if we concede a goal, it's a different ball game. WE will be scared confused inpatient cause we are not prepared mentally for that.
WHy in the world did we bring Augusto Fernandez? the guy hasn't given a chance to prove he's capable. We need him more then ever now to run on the right side to help messi.

WHy can't sabella try this formation. 4-4-4
Zabaleta, macherano, Dimichelis Basanta (strong behind)
Enzo, Lucas Messi Dimaria ( Fresh blood)
Palacio Ricky alvarez ( ricky can hold the ball driblle Palacio is fast play quick if messi.

Since Sabella is gonna stick to his formation we are going home Saturday Just like we kne that againts Germany 4 years ago before the game.

Let's just hope Brazil lose first that would alievate our suffering. If not seing Brazil in the final and winning a 6th world cup would end my support for Argentina.

I'm not just sad, it hurts to see Argentina plays like that

Actually nobody is happy to see how Argentina is playing.A sensible person sees both sides. But after seeing, overwhelming vicious attacks towards players and manager,I don't find any reason to add anything.

Check some member's previous 20 comments after Switzerland match. You will see they said basically same thing over and over again. This is the basic problem of this blog today.

You can see personal attack, racist attack and what not.Another thing is that they use dirty words towards players they don't like.

Another thing you can see from them is that they praise other teams like Holland,Belgium even if those team has showed obvious struggle at the same time of Argentina. They will find most improbable point to bash Argentina and in the same time to praise and create fear about some players and teams whose are not even our immediate opponent.

Actually if a fan always want to stay positive and always cheer for the team no matter how team is playing,it is absolutely OK.Because he is a FAN,not the journalist or the coaching stuff. But if a fan always says negative about Argentina,he has problems. It is Argentina, one of the best teams of football history, you will always find something to say positive about them.

Last thing I want to say is that it is not the case that some new members have appeared to criticize Argentina. They are the same name who criticized Argentina when they finished being top in the qualifier. They are always the same people, they never say anything good about Argentina.

Again, over and over again.... This is why I love this team, it keeps my heart pounding and going out from my chest and want to celebrate there with the Argentinians... Especially yesterday. I was so excited that I jumped and broke the light lamp of my room yesterday, then I was about to burst in tears.

I always keep saying, I am used now to emotions, so before Argenina plays, nothing will seem emotional. Oh my, how I am always wrong, WATCHING ANY ARGENTINA IS ALWAYS LIKE THE FIRST TIME, WHEN I GOT INTO LOVE WITH THIS TEAM.

Please support the team. Stop bashing our players. I completely disagree that the ones who are pessimistic, support more their team. It's a treason to our supreme faith, the love with this jersey.

When we firstly fell in love, our hearts signed a contract. The first paragraph said: "unconditional surrender and love to this team".

The first ever football match to me to remember was the final Italy 1990, I was 6 years old. I fell in love with the Albiceleste. Although I have lived for so long in Germany, speak their language and understand their culture, I cannot help to become a German fan. I cannot go against my heart.

Dammage: It's not Bollywood emotion..
it's extreme optimism out of tremendous passion..
and you know what, what i got from the below posts, Thinker loves Argentine football.. I we can't love with brain, we love by heart.. So his heart is playing influence in his thought about argentina.. it's more hope than logic..
I am not denying your logic.. Gago is not skilled enough to operate in a 2 man midfield.. it is as simple as that.. when you play 3 man midfield they all has to be strong and mobile.. like Toure, like fernandinho, like Lahm.. But in gago thats not the case.. he way too feeble and we all mustt admit this.. In a high pressure physical game, gago is not an answer.. But problem is in the SUB.. Bigila will make the team more DULL in attack.. whereas Perez is not tested at this level, don't forget he plays at portugal.. not at germany or England or Spain or Italy.. So Sabella is not risking him.. He is playing Gago more because he has been a regular for the last 4 years and sort of option.. I also would like to see a 4-4-2but here also our main problem is we don't have a genuine playmaker who can create chances!!

Some people first need to learn to differ negativity from reality before lecturing the others. Many players are way below par in this WC. Just because Argentina is surviving so far doesn't mean we have to turn a blind eye on the issues that could be costly for us at any moment.

Argentina with this display is just walking on the thin ice. We were saying the same thing about Maradona's Argentina in the previous WC and just before the QF tie with Germany many were content with the team merely because they survived, even though the holes in that team were evident since the start of the campaign. Now with criticizing we want to avoid seeing the same mistakes being repeated which could eventually kick us out of the tournament.

For 4 straight matches Sabella needed to make changes to make his team better, and not always his changes made much differences but merely the individual's brilliance of certain players. Sabella need to address the problems in his choices of players and formations before it's too late. Just sitting there giving ratings to his team's performance and yet again fielding the same team that don't function well we are just asking for trouble. Belgium is gonna be the toughest opponents for us up this far, and it's the bloody QF stage, which has been a hoodoo for us to break in the last 24 years. Don't make the same damn mistakes till it bites us in the back.

We have not faced tougher team yet and we will have problem if we play against stronger team and you know what I am talking about. My love to Albiceleste so undescribabl so when I see what is going on with beloved our team it make me sick with the way they manage it. With all the respect to sabella he have no tactical and no new idea what so ever. We are in emergency situations for upcoming games if and if sabella dose not do somthing about that. 4-3-3 is not working may be we try 4-4-2 against Belgium. There is som player they sould not play and to be replaced. Higuian and gago out of performance with ff. Sabella pleas help and fix the problem if not you will be the problem. I am Worred about Belgium game they really played well against U.S. All I can say Vamos Argentina withe best wishes.

Guys, We have been scratching our head and getting hyper-tensed on how argentina is playing..
It's quite fair to say that we are not playing as we generally do. The movement of our attackers is missing!!
We simply couldn't create a single one to one chance to score in the entire WC and we are blaming Higuain, Ageuro and all!!
Guys it's our team selection that's undoing us to play the beautiful game!! there are not a single playmaker in our side!! leave single, Not even a half
available!!! Gago is not a playmaker! Mashcheranho was horrible yesterday in terms of producing a quality final ball even
though there were times when Higuain and Zabaleta were through!! Our team is unbalanced and we don't
even have the option to rectify this!!
Having said that we are Argentine fan.. we love the team and the love should be unconditional.. We played brilliant football at
2006, even better at Copa 2007.. We won nothing... This time we are winning with extreme slenderness.. but somehow we are winning..
Trust me guys.. If we can win the quarter final we will lift the CUP.. we need to break the jinx of QF..98,06,10.. not again..
Let's play ugliest ever and get the result never before.. the Month of July, the month of Ramajaan, the presence of Messi..I can see the Almighty is with
us this time round.. Keep your fingers Crossed.. and have faith in the "CROSS".. 2014 will all be ours..

this positive fans are living in disneyland where everything is fun and happy, while in a real world, there's war and genocide happening.
face this facts you bunch of prunes....after 4 matches, the team didn't look solid in almost half of the field. from our shaky goalie and defensive to our midfield that isn't functioning. and with our injured main striker and a half ass performance from the other striker, how can you expect some of the fans here can still be happy with this results??? we are in the quarter final, some things needs to be apply here and there. rebuild the team, don't be such ignorance and say that we can't rebuild it again, and that there's no time to do that, that's bullshit, there's always time for everything. rebuild, and regrow, that's a way to be a winner. this happy fans of argentina in mundo's are such a loser, fuck them all!!!

Hola Mundo fans, this will be my last post here for quite a while as the negativity and team bashing is beyond a joke now. A lot of you should be friggin ashamed of yourselves.

Some players might not be playing to expectations, but that is professional sports for you. Things sometimes don't go to plan. You think you guys know better than what the professionals do. Yes, we all have opinions on how the team could perform better, but welcome to football in the 21st century which unfortunately is ugly but effective football. Effective because playing ugly gets results.

I watched the match again today and I really don't know what a lot of people are going on about. Yes the first half was ugly at times but both teams were cautious as neither wanted to concede early. The 2nd half was a good display by us. We were actually unlucky not to score at least 2 goals against a very good team that defended with 10 players in their own half. Umm, last time I checked, the Swiss were ranked 5th in the world rankings, and we beat them in the end! At least we took the initiative and had the balls to try and score rather than sit back and play pussy assed football.

It's obvious certain players should not be playing, like Gago and Higuain, but they're Albiceleste players and they deserve our friggin respect at the very least.

This blog has been taken over by negative so called supporters and this Argentino has had enough.

Vamos Argentina para Siempre!!!!

Now tactically, it's clear that 4, 3, 3 isn't functioning, since the forwards aren't in top form. Therefor, a switch to a 4, 4, 2 is mandatory, with the types of midfield backups we have, we could perform better.

Sabella needs to go through all the matches Belgium played and look for their weaknesses, with explaining the tactical attributes to his players and what needs to be changed in the upcoming battle.

Playing against strong midfield teams is different. If Sabella applies the 4, 4, 2 with having Enzo or Ricky as a right mid next to Di Maria who remains on the left in front of Gago and Masche and behind Messi (a second striker) and Higuain, we would look better and the team will be balanced.

I know, Sabella started with 4, 4, 2 against Bosnia, but it was with the wring choice, where he played Maxi instead of Perez, who is way better in midfield!

4, 4, 2 with the proper players is the answer!

@ All bloggers wishing for positivism and enthusiasm

Let’s get one thing clear: all critics here are true Argentina fans. We are very, very happy with the results. Apart from the results and some flashes from Messi and saves from Romero there is not too much to be happy about.

I wish we could declare a state of euphoria and jump with joy for the team. However, we need to be realistic. The team is playing way below their ability and a lot needs to change to see Messi with the cup on July 13th. The bloggers are not negative, but pointing out what could or even needs to be changed. All newspapers and TV analysts are saying the same thing: Argentina needs to improve to win.

This WC is showing no mercy to the top tagged teams , all teams are came up with excellent strategy and game plan.

We just have to improve our sloppiness in the defense and be more alert and quick in midfield and strikers need to be more hungry for ball.

In 2006, Italy's main striker Luca Tony failed to score in their first 4 matches.Lippi still started him at QF.So according to Mundo self proclaimed realistic fan's logic he was a stubborn and tactically clueless manager who does not see obvious things.

There are so many fans are giving their formations and asking to change players up to 5 in numbers.Do you guys have any common sense at all?It does not work that way. Maradona changed his under performing players at every match.Did it work?

We are a counter attacking team. Most of our qualifier game came from quick counters.Even yesterday's goal was from counter. Now tell me how many chances did Argentina have to launch counters throughout the tournament?Every opponent we faced defended deep with little room to breathe. So how do you proposed to see
Argentina's best ability which is counter attack in such conditions?

Higuain is a target man.How much good crosses or good passes he received throughout the tournament? What can we do if both Aguero and Higuain became injured few days before the actual world cup starts?Who even knew that?

Against Switzerland,Sabella fixed one thing. In our group stage matches we defended with 6 or 7 man.Yesterday we defended with 9 man, even Messi made 6 successful tackles.Apart from 2 occasion we defended well.Individual defensive performance was good as well as team defending.

In KO stages having defensive solidity and mental strength is most important factor.Opponent will make mistakes,so goal will come if we can sort out some problems at attack.

I am back again and clearly saying it. It was painful watching such a display. Thank god luck was with us! Yes, Sabella was lucky. He has no tactical brain at all, no personality of a coach!

I don't blame him alone, cause he was expecting a better performance from the players as well.

What happened to the team? They're so lazy to move without the ball and there is no chemistry, no short passes, just replaying the stupid displays again and again.
With Argentina, the players should play short passes and move together without the ball to open spaces. There no excuse for the stupid park the bus claim.
If the players were moving their asses correctly they would've opened spaces.
And here Sabella takes the blame, cause there isn't a single sign of tactical approach.
Add to that, the poor display of our CBs, Fede and Garay are out form, they look lost on the pitch and do not provide a good cover for Romero.
The later saved us a lot, yet he looked a bit shaky, and he didn't face lethal strikers yet. For sure, Robben and co wouldn't miss such chances in front of the goal!

Sabella should get his balls together and realize that the team won, with luck, not with their performance!

Why a few of stupid peoples still gives credit to Higuain. Waiting till he will score. But even if he will score one, somehow, miraculously, he will the same shitty player who just occupies a place in team which somebody else could be use to the benefit of team.
He plays shit since 4 matches. What is you want else?

All these bloggers are almost invisible:

(1) Marcos Rojo

(2) Leandro

(3) Johnny

(4) Jack!

(5) Kenneth

(6) Tony Montana

(7) el principe

There must be something wrong here in Mundo. All of the above members were very good in Analyzing & all of them were very Realistic. They had very good knowledge about football. It's not a good sign. We have already lost a few very good bloggers. I am sure, the existing good bloggers will leave soon.

For me, the main reason is: All these NEGATIVITY here on this site.

It seems to me some people come here only for criticizing. No positive talks.

The most important thing is: NO CONSTRUCTIVE DISCUSSION here. All discussion is about bashing Sabella & the team.

Some Ignorant people do not know about real football. They are only used to with PS3 Station. All depressing talks...

Honestly, I did not see these much negativity in any other blog. Is it 'Mundo Albiceleste' or 'Bashing Albiceleste'? I don't know.

Some good bloggers need to shout more. Otherwise it is becoming Goal.com day by day.

We should have brought one more striker in place of midfielders which will never get in to pitch.

Dejavu! Messi like he did it in Netherlands U-20, will do it again in Brazil. He was alone back then right after the opening match against USA.
But sine this is a senior's world cup he needs at least a firm defence or shall i say another 3 Rojo's.
Rojo is unbelievably best left full back of this tournament both in defending and attacking paces.
God help us in the absence of him.
Finally i don't think Gago should be dropped but add another midfield to assist Masche at the expense of Higuein.
Plus a note to all the fun here in every world cup the Machiavellian theory seems an option less approach to win it i.e. The end justifies the means not otherwise meaning as long as we won the games i don't give a crap about the way we play.

Starters:

Goal Keeper:

Romero (6/10): Barely called into action after first 45 minutes but had couple of good save in the first half. But he could have cost a goal because his poor decision making. Never looked very convincing but unfortunately for Switzerland he was not often tested.

Defenders:

Zabaleta (6/10): Worked hard as always. Tried to get forward down the right but unable to penetrate Swiss defense. But he was a busy figure in defense and had few great interception. His game improved as the game progresses.

Garay (6/10): Garay was very good in air and quite average in challenge. Was out of position few times but overall quite a good performance from this man.

F. Fernandez (5/10): He won all the aerial battles but still not convincing display at all and beaten couple of times. But he made few very important interceptions to deny Swiss but made so many poor passes.

Rojo (7/10): Another good performance in Argentine shirt. He caused so much problem in the final third of the field with his lovely crosses. Also helped in defense and won the ball position several times. But he booked and suspended for quarter final.

Midfielders:

Mascherano (7/10): Another good performance in the heart of the midfield and tried to hold the midfield together. Although he won ball position quite a few times in the first half but in the 2nd half he has nothing much to do as Switzerland didn't attack much through the middle.

Gago (4.5/10): Gago had few neat passes in the first half and linked well with Messi. But a Completely anonymous , unambitious, ineffective performance in the 2nd half. Overall Very poor display, provided no service to attackers.

Angel Di Maria (7/10): One of his poorest performance in this world cup and did almost everything wrong and kicking the ball all over the place but everything will be forgotten as he scored the winner with a nice finish. But a work-force throughout the match and made 11 attempts towards goal but his final attempt found the net.

Forwards:

Lionel Messi (7.5/10): Relatively quiet game from him and unable to influence the game as Switzerland defenders were men-marked him really well and whenever he had the ball he was surrounded by 4 players. But still stood up when required and once again proved to be the decisive after setting up the winner for Angel Di Maria.

Lavezzi (6/10): Started ahead of injured Kun and looked very lively throughout the match. He was a constant threat at the flanks and gave a tough time to the full backs. But his final ball let him down.

Gonzalo Higuain (4/10): Another disappointing performance. Completely anonymous performance. Although he was very well marked by Switzerland defenders but whenever he had the opportunity he was completely wasted.

Substitutes:

Palacio (6/10): Replaced Lavezzi in the 2nd half and he had a huge role to play for Argentina winner. But his first touch was generally poor to let him down but had a good impact after coming from bench.

Basanta (5/10): Replaced Rojo in the late 2nd half and he was rarely tested. But he had few good interception and won the ball.

Bigila (5/10): Introduced in the very late in the game and nothing much to do.

Out of the 8 pre quarter matches five of them went on to extra time. So on the upcoming matches this trend could be continue. It is not nice to go to penalties but it would be good if we practice it in training sessions. Anyways game by game we are progressing. And I am sure we will be the champions.

I'm starting to think that our guys are just playing each other like school boys without any tactically emphasis in training. Sabella needs to pack the midfield, where we need more bodies to stifle attacks and give the forwards options.
Now our ball recovery mostly happens in defense area which very risky. I know Higuain is very good striker but he's unfit at present so he must come in off the bench, he might do damage to worn down defenses. Sabella must try a 343 or 352, not 532. He can't keep on using unfit players when they're ineffective or a system that doesn't suit the situation.
One thing about Belgian team is that they don't sit back and they will bring a high tempo game to us a which should suit us better.

@Richard, i was thinking the same thing, Sabella did not even bring 1 young player and were the oldest team in the tournament.
He took Demichelis over Fazio, Lisandro Mussachio.
Basanta over Ansaldi, Peruzzi.
Augusto over Cartabia, Lucas Romero, Matias Kranevitter.
Maxi over Gaitan & Iturbe.

Very questionable call ups

i dont knw y u guys always try to criticize Sabella and our other player. Pls stop this non sense criticizem. If u guys understand football much than our coach thn go and guide the team or if u guys can play better than our player than go n play..... i am satisfied with this coz we are winning.. i don want 4 or 5 goals in the match but at the end of the competition we will go back home without having the cup on our shelf....Sabella is a good coach.....so stop saying shit and enjoy the game... and also i am nt worried about Higuain form...

I totally agree with El Negro and Travis on this one.
There is no teamplay. Gago is slow and doesn't contribute. Di Maria tries but can't do it alone. Higuain is invisible for 4 matches in a row.
Players don't run, the just stand somewhere in the field, sometimes hiding half behind a defender like they don't WANT to receive the ball instead of offering themselves.

It looks like Sabella doesn't have control over who plays or not. I would have tried other players instead of Higuain or Gago. Or Fernandez who had a good season but is a weak link again and again.

The Fantastic Four is dead. We have 1.5 left, time to try something different or we lose 4-0 against a much stronger Belgium. :'(

do all of you remember Italy in 2006 and how they played before semis, they struggled in the group stages and then they barely beat Australia with fake penalty and faced weak Ukraine team before reaching the semis, after that they played well, so let us see may be our team can finally play well,i believe this is our cup, destiny is with us this time
