Throwback: Argentina vs. Switzerland
Most of us here will perhaps remember the night when Lionel MESSI dazzles the crowd in Bern by scoring a hat-trick (that was his 15, 16 & 17 of 91 goals he scored in that year).

But I’m going to take this moment to write briefly about the only meeting between these two sides at the World Cup; for that we have to go way back to 1966!

It was a Group B encounter played on an English evening at the Hillsborough Stadium in Sheffield. Argentina needed to win to ensure they keep pace for top spot of the group alongside Germany plus avoiding the home team England in the quarter-finals.

In that team, contain some of the finest players of that generation such as goalkeepers Antonio ROMA and Hugo GATTI, defenders Roberto PERFUMO, Silvio MARZOLINI, midfielders Antonio RATTIN and forwards Ermindo ONEGA, Luis ARTIME and Oscar MAS.

Argentina won the game 2-0 with goals from ARTIME and ONEGA but still wasn’t enough to top the group as Germany had the better goal difference.

And the rest as you know is history.

In the meantime, enjoy this highlight from that meeting 48 years ago!

I am not worried about the Swiss, and I know we have a very strong chance to go ahead, but I am afraid of luck, so hopefully it is in our side all the way until July 14th.

Switzerland is the weakest team in the second round besides Greece, and I don't think they would cause too much troubles. A comfortable 1-0 or 2-0 win for Argentina is my prediction.
