Press Conference with Maxi & Gugnali
After the team’s usual morning practice session, it was Maxi RODRIGUEZ and assistant coach Claudio GUGNALI who took turn to address the media at the press conference.

Maxi made it clear that the entire team came for one objective which is to play glory. That was on top of their head as soon as soon the final 23 list of players was released.

His view on Argentina’s group stage matches “Very few teams pulled apart. Everyone said that we were going to be thrashing everyone else in the group and it became clear that was not the case."

He also reassured everyone on what is the main focus for the entire team "Our mentality is always the same, in a World Cup you have to be 100% focused. We have to admit that our opponent look great but if you are not concentrating fully, anyone can beat you."

He also added "You always want to win. But you can play better as that what works to win."

Meanwhile assistant coach Claudio GUGNALI was asked by Ezequiel LAVEZZI’s chances to start against Switzerland

"LAVEZZI has many chances to play against Switzerland. He is a very powerful player and he is in great form at the moment, had a great season with his club. When ask to play, I’m sure he will know how to exploit."

On his view about our next opponent "They (Switzerland) work really fine sides, attacking from the wing and have known to be combative in midfield. But we will rise to the occasion, it’s going to be very intense game."

Yes, afraid some will feel happier if we lose so that they can say as I said so... That Sabella is rubish and the team lack motivation or whatever. Thanks God none in the team can hear all said here. This is a team with good to extraordinary quality of players and a decent coach. We just need luck and hopefully God favors Argentina this time!

@di3z: There are a few people here that want to see Argentina fail, so they can come on here with their ongoing ranting..These folks know exactly who I'm referring to, so no need to call any names...These folks are the worse of this site that never seems to give the team credit.

Holy snap. I just now saw the votes on the "Who will meet us in the QF".

It's really heartbreaking that, out of 40 people who voted, 3 think that we will not beat Switzerland. Do you guys think that Argentina is so bad that cannot beat a second tier team? To avoid misunderstandings, you are free to vote as you wish and I am not undervaluing Switzerland.

But for Pete's sake, is this your trust you have in our team? I wonder what these guys will do, if they were at the stadium. Cheering for Switzerland?

Probably they think that we're so bad, so that they can say, "I am realistic". No, this is not realism, it's pessimism to the maximum extent.

How my I'm sick of hearing about the words "park bus" on Mundo..As I said before the last time Argentina met Swiss we won with them playing defensive football..And this talk about how the Swiss coach (Ottmar Hitzfeld) is some tactical genious here on Mundo lately is misguided..Iran coach Carlos Queiroz a former Man United and Portugal NT coach is way better than Hitzfeld...This World Cup is not a defensive one, most of the teams are playing attacking football, most surprising so far is Greece considering they always playing defensive football..I'm not going to underestimate the Swiss but they're not in Argentina league.

This is the best possible chance for Argentina as this kind of favourable draw won't repeat for avout 1/2 a century and guess what! This favour hasn't stopped yet, it could be more colourful if Mexico can somehow beat the Dutch!

Maxi, you must give us the glory. Last time I used to cry, I was 12 years old. In this time, I have cried only 2 times, and now I am 30 years old.

I think I will cry if I see Messi lifting that cup. Only the thought gives me goosebumps.

So dear Maxi, your and the entire team's last stop for this Cup is only one: "Glory".

Brazil certainly deserved to get out with this kind of display. But we must give credit to this amazing Chile side. Alexis was outstanding (apart from the spot kick miss).

I think Brazil will get punished by Pekerman's Colombia if they continue to play like this. Fred, Hulk and Jo are the worst strikers I have ever seen playing for Brazil. I think even Torres would score with that chance Jo missed.

I hope Higuain would show his lethal finishing ability and Lavezzi would not miss.

Just read an update on Aguero condition and it says they will check his progress everyday now however he was told before hand that this type of injury takes severalweeks to get healed. It is a first degree strain to bicebs femoris.
