Today’s Practice Session
The team went back to training after being given leisure time yesterday as they were celebrating Hugo CAMPARNO’s birthday.

Ezequiel LAVEZZI got the nod ahead of Rodrigo PALACIO to train with the first team today, an indication that Alejandro SABELLA might start him for the Switzerland match and go with a 4-3-3 formation.

Today’s first team looks like this: -

Sergio ROMERO; Pablo ZABALETA, Federico FERNANDEZ, Ezequiel GARAY, Marcos ROJO Fernando GAGO, Javier MASCHERANO, Angel DI MARIA; Lionel MESSI, Ezequiel LAVEZZI and Gonzalo HIGUAIN

Meanwhile, Kun AGUERO continues his recovery and there is some improvement as he was doing some indoor training mainly jogging & bike riding.

That’s all for, will try to keep everyone posted on any latest news.

We just need to avoid being too dependent on messi, i believe a player of his quality will deliver everyday but we also need others to step up and show their responsibility, team effort wins you a world cup not individual brilliance..after watching teams like chile, uruguay, colombia, costa rica it is clear they play like "this is the last game of my life, give everything", so determined..we need to be like this, aguero, higuain and gago frustated me, they were too lazy on the field, barely moved..give chances to guys like perez, ricky, augusto, palacio..they will play with their heart trust me, they will give it all on the field because they need to prove something..aguero, higuain doesnt need to prove anything now, they are already great players, playing for big clubs..this is why i fear the germans, they fight till the end..we need that NEVER GIVE UP mentality!

Good thing is players and coaches are aware of the weeknesses, unlike the previous WC where we were thrashing all teams enroute to the QFs defeat by germany without knowing the drawbacks of the team.
Sabella will find out the solutions and we are going to see.

Colombia is the new brazil of south america. Brazil always lucky, just like WC 2002 & Copa America final match 2007 against Argentina. We were the best team & had the better results of the tournament & still stupid Braz beats us 3 - 0. Hopefully we can have our luck this time. Vamos Arge!!!

San isidro Swiss defense is weak but they will park the bus that will make thier defense compact and hard to penetrate like Iran , with lavezzi coming in for aguero the team is better balanced then when aguero was playing, but the midfield is still open and we must be careful with the counters , higuain is missing a lot of chances lately he better find his form and start scoring the chances we get, you are right long shots are necessary when a team is parking the bus, also we become deadly in setpieces but mostly missing , our tall defenders should find the target, but I am glad we are no longer weak in the air

First,

We have to win against Switzerland then think about Belgium then ........

This world cup is full of surprises, we should not be over confident rather be calm and give full respect to each opposition.

Switzerland can beat us in a given day. So players have to perform really well to beat Switzerland.

"VAMOS ARGENTINA"

Honestly I thought France was very fast against switzerland. I think we will need a lot of pace from dimaria lavezzi and others. Swiss couldn't deal with the motion long distance shots and France being all over the field and pressing. Let's hope we study the tape and higuain wants to prove he can match benzemas production against the same opponent.

I will score more than you is the only way to win. Please remember the same "tactical" coach gave not 1 not 2 not 3 not 4 but five, almost 6 goals to France.

The Swiss coach ottmar hitzfield is veteran tactical coach he will try to take advantage of our weakness which is exposed defense becouse there is only one guy who is defending in the middle (mashcerano) I saw a column were Nigerian players were talking how it was easier for them to get chances and come to our 18 yard box becouse of open midfield were there is no protection, unless sabella finds a solution for that obvious weakness we will live on the edge and hide behind the couch any time the opponent attacks, i will score more thrn you is difficult way way to win

Kid-> thats what i m saying Uruguay struggled whenever they were without suarez. Cavani and Co not good enough to put the ball pass the goal keeper. Nonetheless Columbia deserves it. They are the real dark horse of the tournament not the over hyped Belgium.

@dmjo @arg2014
I think part of the problem is all of us including me. The truth is that with our talent it is extremely frustrating when the sum of our team plays smaller than the individual components. We as fans keep searching for the perfect game where everything goes as planned and we are hitting on all cylinders. But the truth is in this competition it is more important to win and survive than to look good. Winning ugly gets you to the next match while playing beautiful and losing doesn't always happen. If you have ever seen the argentina brazil 1990 match where we won argentina was completely dominated and one counter attack destroyed brazil.
Right now messi is scoring and comfortable. Hopefully others will come around. Today Chile was unlucky. They easily could have won. This is such a complicated tournament and we need luck health timing fan support and good play to advance. All we can do is win against switzerland and build on that. God willing we will do that as we have all suffered too long.

@dmjo: What went wrong: Usually when you take players to the world cup, all players should be fresh, healthy and not tired from a long season. They should go through a deep physical examination to determine their fitness level before naming them in the squad. Another factor is the hunger and desire to win as a team. Also playing collective football as a unit and get rid of individualism because you could easily get marked if you play it solo.

One important thing, you have to discover stars and trust the young.....WC needs young personnel as it is a hard work in one month long.....Surprise your opponents with new talents and usually those young players have no pressure from their coach or media, thus they produce magic......You see Shaqiri, Rodriguez, etc....

Most importantly, some coaches learn from mistakes happened in the qualifiers, friendlies and past meetings with certain teams, others don't learn and either repeat same plan or come up with a rational one.

sometimes i cant believe that argentina is struggling to find back of the net after good displaying showed during the qualifiers and friendly matches,if you follow keenly albicelstes matches you will agree with me.team like colombia we tire them apart, name it uruguay, chile, paruguay ,swiss, even germany!,i wonder what went wrong in this world cup?,this is the only chance we have,if we do not get it right then lets forget the world cup for ever!.

I am a Perkermanista :P
his philosophy of football is exactly how I think football should be.
he has some weak points and that lead to us losing the World cup 2006, but still I wish we would play like in 2006 but without the substitution mistakes and with Zanetti.
what I admire about this colombian team is this thing, Guerin who is a star is better than those sanchez and aguliar, but doesnt play and he accepts this and is on the team as a sub.

sad about chile lost, not because I wanted Brazil out, but because they played with heart and passion, and mostly MEDEL.

Loew says Latin American passion has hastened European exits..

"The South American teams are obviously at home on their own continent and the Central American teams are also keen to prove to the world the great class they have and how strong they are," Loew said.

"You get the feeling in some of the matches that they're playing for their lives," he said. "Maybe that's part of the reason that surprisingly there are so few European teams left."

"It's surprising that so many European teams aren't here anymore," said Loew. "Great soccer nations like Spain, Italy, Portugal, England are all out - I can't ever recall so many favorites from Europe going home after the group phase."

"It was clear that the South Americans were going to be extremely motivated for this World Cup on their home continent," he said. "Colombia, Chile, Argentina, Brazil - they've been getting ready for this for many, many years."

"It seems the South American teams have an easier time with the external conditions here - playing in heat and in the afternoons at 1 p.m. or 4 p.m.," he said.

"The South Americans are more used to these conditions."

This is one of the main reason I wanted Argentina to avoid Ecuador..With the team not playing against any South American/Latin opponent until the Semifinal or final is a good thing for us...

I'm not surprise about Colombia performance at the world cup, if anyone here watch the 2014 WCQ qualifiers then they would have known that Colombia is a good team...

USA at this point is the only team I see as the trickiest opponent for Argentina leading up to the semis if we should meet..The USA team is a very fit team and they also embody the spirit of the other Latin American teams at this world cup..

Unfortunate Chile fell short today..As I keep on saying, this is the worse Brazilian team I have ever seen at a world cup..And they have been scraping by teams with poor performances..The only convincing win came against Cameroon, the worse team at the world cup.

James Rodriguez has just scored an absolutely stunning goal... he is the right now the Best player of the WC 2nd only to Messi... Colombia is a very balanced team,, they have tall defenders and skillful forwards,, they have all the capabilities to beat Brazil in normal time... Pekerman is an absolute genius as he was for argentina(but i will never forgive him for that infamous mistake) and i hope he doesn't repeat that mistake again in his life... Could be a Argentina v Colombia final :)

On a more important note, I like that Lavezzi will start, the team needs his pace and acceleration. Higuain on the other hand should play 1 half of football only. If we're going to score more goals than the Swiss, it needs to be a 4-3-3

so Far kidult is making the best predictions! In my mind Chilie won...at least they have won my heart! it's exactly the way to play brazil's ordinary, overhyped and overconfident slam n dunk attacking line up!

I wish pinila scored that goal :s

today we have another match..uruguay vs Colombia and the winner wil face Brazil. I think Colombia will go through!

Remember Brazil...Colombia is a better team than Chilie! and you are tired, neymer is tired, his battery is drained; Oscar's flashlight have never flashed after the first match; Hulk is a Big Fat hobo; Fred n Joe are Garbage bags; I'm not even saying how is David luiz and Dani Alvez!

3 misses of Chilie were down to their muisses rather than ceaser's saves.

Only Thiago Silva can not save your ass!

Chile played with excellent ball control and full of running. At times, reminded me of Argentina in the midfield and defense when we were on song in the qualifiers. what a gripping match.. Chile took Brazil all the way,, and absolutely exposed their so called "world class defense"... the game was very very tight,, and in the end it was a heartbreak to Chile... PK shootouts are the worst way to decide a match,, Argentina knew it all too well in 2006... But Chile played wonderful football and they crushed and spain and they almost defeated Brazil in their own soil...

But in QF,, all the lucks will run out,, colombia will be an even greater threat for them... or does Uruguay have something to say???

Respect to Chile. Brazil was too lucky, but wit this kind of play, they're no match for the other teams they'll find further. Luck can help you but cannot get you the CUP

kun is essential to this team. god will make him healthy and i am having feeling that higuain and aguero are going to become our goalscorers for our next matches till the worldcup finals. messi is going to get very little space in remaining matches.
