I'm a die hard Argentina fan but I can't go beyond the reality and I know that Argentina will struggle against Iran. Iran is super defensive team. Please don't keep overconfidence while predicting the score.

We are being a bit too futuristic...With so many factors that can influence a match, it would be better we take it game by game without worrying about the any opponents.

I was the only one around here said months ago that said France resurrected and would be a force to reckon in the world cup.

Kid pointed out to me how pogba is nothing and just a kid . how french players are not world class and stuffs.

Well now you all can see how good is that french squad.

To tell you all the truth, I am worried about all you here at mundo.
All I keep hearing is that Argentina will meet so and so in the semis and so and so in the final but our boys are yet to play their second game!
I appreciate the fact that you are all so positive but we need to keep our feet on the ground.
With Spain and England out and Italy, Uruguay and Portugal fighting for their lives this world cup has shown us that nothing should be taken for granted.

As for tomorrow's game, well I personally expect it to be a tight match with Argentina fully attacking and Iran holding firm.
If our boys win it will be marginal IMO.
The key is for the fantastic 4 not to get frustrated if they don't bang in goals right out of the gate and the defense/midfield needs to be very alert because when a team is very fixated on attack it's defenses will be automatically lowered.

If Sabella decides to use a full strength squad against Nigeria then I suspect that we will see alot of goals because Nigeria is a very attack minded team and they will be fighting for their lives by the time they play Argentina so I expect them to attack alot, which fits perfectly with Argentina's counter tactics.

Its mighty ARGENTINA playing against IRAN in South America.

WE have the best player on the planet.
The Best offensive supporting cast and then some.

WE NEED TO SCORE AS MANY GOALS AS POSSIBLE and beat them into the ground.

Iran will park the bus and remove the wheels! However ARGENTINA wil have too much posession, too many corners, too many shots at goal and free kicks! IRAN won't be able to stop them scoring! After tomorrow's game MESSI will be the top scorer in the World Cup! VAMOS ARGENTINA!

GAB,
i agree, i like enzo in the central midfield better...
indeed in a 433 i would pick enzo to start and would sub gago in in the second half...

the 442 that i think sabella has in mind, however, is likely to see 2 forwardds only, and in the midfield masche dimara enzo and biglia...so masche can drop into the back 4 and change the formation to a 532...

Che Pep, que tal....I agree with what you say about the key to Argentina is a 4-4-2 with Enzo playing, but I think you have him out of position on the far right. For Enzo to excel, he needs to play in the central midfield because he attacks and defends so well! So I would have him there instead of Biglia and then have Aguero, so it would look like:

Pipita Messi
Di Maria Masch Enzo Aguero
Rojo Garay. FF. Zab

tamthebam,
sabella is a great coach...
and the criticism were way over blown....

first, bosnia has one of the best offensive teams in the world cup.
second, sabella managed the tempo of the game well...
third, he read the game well, and with the team winning made two changes...

for a long time i have been saying here, that i think a probable final will be france-argentina because of the team's coaches....

there are of course no guarantees, but i hope we dont meet france in the next round....

Hopefully,, he can do that after he wins the WC and silences all these fuckers...

So far two teams have impressed me most in this year world cup and neither of them is a south american team. Those two teams are France & Germany.

Watch out for France. The french may not have Ribery, but they have a real coach in the name of Deschamps! This guy is a real winner and smart guy! And above all, he have guts!!! They have a wonderful defense. Their Midfield is also not that bad...They will face difficulties in the later stage of the tournaments because I don't think Benzema could be trusted!

Cheers and hope we have a solid match tomorrow!

KID,,, you won... I didn't expect anything of this magnitude.. Costa Rica absolutely blew the whole world away... they OUTCLASSED 4-time winners Italy and 2-time winners Uruguay... the odds of beating both of them and topping the group was 1/1000000000 for Costa Rica... you predicted it right Kid... Underdogs have performed better than every big team in this WC... this is more like 2002 WC,, where teams like Senegal out of nowhere caused Humungous earthquake in the world football by beating France... but this time the underdogs are not only beating big guns,, they are THRASHING them... it's like an Evolution has started in world football...

Now at this moment,, i will say there will be AT LEAST 2 underdogs in semis just like 2002 and 2 big guns... Costa Rica is likeliest to go into semifinals and it will be a fight between Chile,Bosnia,Mexico,USA,Belgium,Russia to grab another semifinal spot... as for the big guns,, i don't have a single clue which 2 of them will reach semis... Argentina have the easiest path,, but it is actually more harder than it looks as this WC has already shown,, What is written in Paper has ABSOLUTELY NO VALUE... these Underdogs have knocked the teeths of these so called Big teams with courage, spirit and heart...

and these Underdogs are the reason why this WC will become the greatest in history.. if the big guns again dominated then it would have been like 2010-- Dull,Boring and uninspiring where the champion team won all the matches 1-0.. whoever wins this WC,, it will certainly break all goal record in history...

So these are the teams we will NOT MEET before the final match:

I don't think we will see a 4-4-2 from Sabella until the game against Nigeria (if we are already headed to the final 16). It looks like he's going to try for a 4-3-3 for this Iran game and let the fantastic 4 do their stuff. If it doesn't work out he can always change an attacker for a midfielder in the second half.

@gabo thanks for the link. Looks like the Iran coach knows a thing or two to about containing messi.

I hope to see a spirited display by our side in their preferred formation.

Some of the criticism of the team and Sabella on this blog after the Bosnia match was way over the top! Guys dissin the players and manager after one game, and shittin their pants about GERMANY or HOLLAND! Having said all that, I agree with Shafat, let's get back to talking about the football and this fantastic World Cup! VAMOS ARGENTINA!

In my country the love for this Argentina team is crazy me specially i cried a lot for this team I don't think anyone would want to see Argentina lift that World Cup trophy more than I do however in this kinda competition you have to work hard to accomplish this dream when i was watching the game I was damn near hitting my tv screen of the way I see the players was just walking around like they don't care... I love Messi he is the best player I see in my life time I didn't had a chance to see Diego but thanks to YouTube I see how much of a legend he was and still is today...my problem with Messi is simple if the coach play a formation I don't care if u not comfortable with it at least give your best instead of walking around the pitch like its whatever he remind me of a lil spoil brats that's always want it his way...the coach is there to play the formation that's good for the team not just for one player I was in Argentina fan way b4 Messi so the team always first to me even though I love the guy so much to me his already a legend by watching the other teams playing they players are running everywhere nonstop I just want our players to give 100/% instead of not trying at all even if we don't win the world cup we can at least say they give their best. By the way guys I been follow this blog since 2006 if I'm not mistaking I finally participate and this where I spent my time reading everything u guys have to say about Argentina
I hope we can do it this time.

I believe that dammage7 really loved Argentinian footbal but he is fan with a big dose of pesimism. That's all. I believe that all of us here are really fans but of quite different nature, character and temperament.

in spirit of Shafat's comment, I think this is an interesting article about Iran's coach having faced Messi before in the 2008 Champions League. It looks like the man knows a thing or two about keeping Messi out of the game:

http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/stopping-lionel-messi-iran-boss-carlos-queiroz-knows-just-how-to-do-it-9551425.html

It says that he was the man behind the aggregate 1-0 win for Man United. Apparently, Iran's biggest name is their coach and he has certainly impressed so far in terms of defensive discipline. He's gonna try to close down on Messi. So it's gonna be largely in the hands of other players to step up if we want to see a convincing win.

germany looks shaky in defence
brazil looks less creative in midfield
netherlands look poor in midfield and shaky defence
so.... no country is still looking great yes argentina was unconvincing but neither team also

dammage7 always criticizing argentina we dnt need that type of fan here there is actually lots of fan out here who try to be intellectual and create lots of negative vibe here that is not encouraging and i dont think any team in this tournament looks convincing yet of now

guys, dun b too hard on our players, form comes & go.
formation as well 532 /433.
as i 've study the rest of the other team, its the HUNGER dat matters,as of last nite england, uruguay game, the uruguaying is basically soak with sweat!
the english is trying to look stylish.
its no good the albiceleste giving 110 per cent now,we should be given 200% !
juzz look@mexico,columbia,chile&now urugua,commitment?
messi got to take game on the scruff of the neck,if giving the ball to kun&higuain is no go,he should take it upon himself ,alone.
dats why diego is a legend, take charge,if things dun go your way.
dis world cup is not a walk in the park, even if u got a fab 4 on your side,u gotta move away from your comfort zone if plan A dun work out.
in other words,u gotta play out of your skin.
am sure u guys can do it.
god bless.

For all you wanting brazil- argentina final, you only think of Argentina beating brazil, what if Brazil beating Argentina?? That would be as devastating as brazil losing it. Anything can happen in a final match, the worst team could beat the best team especially brazil is at home. I couldn't stand a chance of witnessing my beloved argentina going up against a strong opponent with them being at home, and at risk of being not being crowned champion yet again, I rather win ugly than winning it in a grand way. I just want a damn world cup so bad for the Argentina side i've been following since forever.

So, NO WAY IN HELL would i want a brazil argentina final.

Outlaw we must consider the fact that he hardly had time to recover after CL final!! can't be a excuse though.. still I believe in a simple philosophy.. and that is we have to back our players..there can be a off game!! I would Messi was also below par except of the goal!! We could barely find KUN in the 85 minutes he played!! but they are the players when on song gives us immense pleasure.. So let's back our players to excel in the rest of the games.. the positive side of Bosnia match should be we took all 3 points and all our players are injury free.. So lets hope for the best and back our players to produce a great performance against Iran tomorrow!! :) :)

Di Maria will be instrumental for us to win the World Cup!! dont be so frickle minded guyz, he has been our best player for the last 2 years and am talking abt NT not RM!! His lob passes are awesome!! His long rangers are so powerful and the way he track backs!! My word!! He is key man and as important as Messi in my view!!
