The teams from training

Alejandro SABELLA set out two teams during training. The first was a 4-3-3 and the second was a 4-4-1-1. The idea was for the starters (4-3-3) to play against the reserves (who played the 4-4-1-1) as Bosnia plays a 4-4-1-1. In other words, to have one team set up like Bosnia for the starters to practice against.

Here were the teams:

4-3-3:
ORION; ZABALETA, GARAY, FERNANDEZ, ROJO; GAGO, MASCHERANO, DI MARIA; MESSI, AGUERO and LAVEZZI

4-4-1-1:
ANDUJAR; CAMPAGNARO, MAMMANA, DEMICHELIS, BASANTA; Augusto FERNANDEZ, PEREZ, BIGLIA, Maxi; ALVAREZ; HIGUAIN

The starting line up in the first match will have ROMERO as the goalkeeper and HIGUAIN in place of LAVEZZI.

Higuain won't be able to score the 8 goals as I predicted if he doesn't play all the games :(

In my mind, bad news. I like Lavezzi but he misses too many shots, while Higuain has one of the best conversion rates in the world. I'm ok with this only if Higuain is still rusty.

Albiceleste will try to play in group stage with the 4-3-3 formation without the ball and the 4-3-2-1 when in possession, with Messi on free role the formation is elastic, In the group stage we're facing the parking bus opponents.

@ Bombonera, we will probably play all three games with the Albiceleste.
We are "home" against Bosnia and Iran, which means we will have our home jerseys. We are "away" against Nigeria, but since they are all green, we will probably have Albiceleste again.

Why didn't Romero play ?

And does that mean Mammana is sharing room with Gago ?

Maradona: "Neymar is like Pele, gets better in Brazil. The distance between Neymar and Messi is the same as between Maradona and Pele"

Diego Maradona: “Pelé said Messi has Brazilian style? He should go back to the museum. Messi is Argentine, more Argentine than me!”

Maradona: "Messi has to win World Cup? He already proved what he's worth. If he wins a World Cup, the better. It'd be just another trophy."

Maradona (again): "Beating Brazil in the final would be like an orgasm.

this is what i want from sabella, give orion/andujar a starting place, this will put pressure on romero and he will not think "ohh well there's no one who can take my place even if I make mistakes"

I have a feeling that Higuain will not start the match against Bosnia and will come off the bench in second half. Sabella is smart enough to not rush an important player who has just come from an injury in a group stage match.

Is there no clear video of training (from more clear camera perspective)? Was the training not held in public? Then there should be one.

I think the best training for the fantastic four would be our original starting line up vs. Sabella's 3-5-2. So it'd be like this:

Romero; Zabaleta, Fede, Garay, Rojo; Masche, Gago, Di Maria; Messi, Aguero, Higuain

vs.

---------------------Andujar
------Campagnaro----Demichelis----Basanta/Mammana
-Perez-------Augusto--------Biglia-----Maxi/Basanta
---------------------Ricky/Maxi
--------------Lavezzi------Palacio

and tell the second team to kinda play park the bus. It'd be good for both the starters and the subs as Sabella 3 central defenders normally are hard to break.

@elprincipe

Once a match has started, all involved players are locked and unavailable for the rest of the Round

What does that mean

Biglia did train. And like Pino said, Higuain was their focal point in the 4-4-1-1.

Oh Biglia trained! So Palacio is the only one on the injured list then. Get well soon Palacio. He's definitely ahead of Lavezzi in our substitution pecking order.

El principe: Biglia was part of the second team and did train. Only Palacio didn't.

I am glad that the missing players like Zabalea, Garay, and Higuain are OK. Even Demichelis seems to have recovered, which means only Biglia and Palacio are on injured list.

Both injury are not believed to be serious.

I wonder why Higuain is on the second team in practice. Maybe they need a pure striker as well for the second team practice and Lavezzi is not one.

Mammana again. I tip him to have great WC U20 next year. Hope we can win it again.

Talking about winning mentality, our team has winning experience in Olympics and WC U20. Credit to Batista for creating Olympic gold medal team. We have around 7 starters in the Olympics who start today.

Anyway, Alessandro Nesta, Italian legend put Di Maria in his all World Cup team starting 11 along with Messi.
