el pricipe: Which defender doesn't commit unnecessary fouls? Pepe and Ramos commit more fouls than anybody else if you ask me..

Relying on half side trap is a weakness or is it a game plan by the coach and defenders? The half side trap was what Man City used in there last 15 games during the season with Demichelis and Kompany leading the charge..

Basanta is good, tough, but he has a weakness in that he oftens commits unnecessary fouls.

Our defenders weaknesses:
1. Fede: often relying too much on offside trap, where he's one of the best in serie A in that.

2. Garay: almost nothing. A complete defender. His header has improved dramatically this season. Back a few years ago, I remember John Carew (Norway) dominated him in the air.

3. Campagnaro: Speed

4. Micho: Concentration

5. Basanta: unnecessary fouls

Messi need to be calm which is good for him and the team

The name of the buyer is PSG.PSG bought Lucas Moura for
45 millions.Do you think he is any special?Same goes with Luiz.PSG wanted him, money is not a factor here.

@Kid,

Actually last time I used the word release for a campaign named #ReleaseMoazzemBeg,a Guantanamo Bay
detainee :(

Release makes you think about someone detained in prison.Unleash is used to refer to release someone who is ferociously and eagerly waiting to some damage
but locked i.e a chained hunting dog...

Well,I'm not great at English, but an English to Bangla dictionary always helps me a lot :p

To be honest, Garay is miles miles ahead as a centre back than the likes of David Luiz, Daante or Hummels and Basanta for me is a huge surprise, this guy is tough, very tough. Our biggest issue is obviously King Romero, this clown doesn't deserve to be in the national team.

@Pa it is a pooe analysis without any sort of insight and based on the delusion of the 2010 World cup, Argentinas defence is the best in the tournament, if Brazil decided to start Felipe Luis then it would be the best, anyway attack minded best defence is the Brazilian one.

pa who is a world class defender, and tell me why that person is one and Garay isn't?

FF isn't tested? The guy just won the Italian cup this season.

''Rojo is not a LB'' I agree but he's not bad at the job either..Is Boateng a RB? No, but he will be playing that position at the world cup being that Low used him in both friendlies at the RB position..So what is the difference with Boateng a natural CB playing RB for Germany and Rojo a natural CB playing LB for Argentina?

i mean good analysis of our attack. Every writer used to say romero is weak link he didnt have match practise, rojo is not left back, ff is decent but not tested, garay is good but not world class. They r obsessed with bog european clubs.None of the writer or critics went deeply to analyse our defence so i dont care about that

"Benfica’s Ezequiel Garay is a solid enough centre-back, but it’s difficult to see why he’s relentlessly linked with big clubs, while Federico Fernandez is decent but doesn’t excel in any one particular area of defending."

Really? Is this called great analysis from Zonal marking?

-In 11 European matches(3 cl+5 Europa) Garay was dribbled past just 3 times ..He faced Tevez, pogba and many other good players and it is difficult to see why
he is linked with big clubs?

-Is it very difficult to see aerial abilities of
Fernandez?

"The defending of set-pieces, meanwhile, has also been a problem over the past couple of years – Argentina lack a commanding aerial presence."

-This part is ridiculous...From the first day,Sabella
has taken charge, his main concern was set piece defending, having tall and aerially strong defender.

We have FF,Rojo,Garay,Basanta,Demi,Campa to defend the
aerial balls, tell me which team has so many aerially strong defenders?

Yeah it is a better analysis than Goal.com's,that's for sure.

Everyone has different prediction. I went on different sites and spoke to different people, and I noticed a lot of people had these prediction for their Quarter Final (based on average):

Brazil vs Italy/Uruguay

Spain vs Italy/Uruguay

France vs Germany

Argentina vs Portugal/Belgium

These predictions are based on average from different people and sources. I agree for the most part. What do you men think?

My predictions:

Group stage (Matches 1-48):

A1 - Brazil
A2 - Croatia

B1 - Spain
B2 - Chile

C1 - Colombia
C2 - Ivory Coast

D1 - Uruguay
D2 - England

E1 - France
E2 - Ecuador

F1 - Argentina
F2 - Bosnia

G1 - Germany
G2 - Portugal

H1 - Belgium
H2 - Russia

Round 2:

Match 49 - Brazil bt Chile
Match 50 - England bt Colombia
Match 51 - Spain bt Croatia
Match 52 - Uruguay bt Ivory Coast
Match 53 - France bt Bosnia
Match 54 - Germany bt Russia
Match 55 - Argentina bt Ecuador
Match 56 - Belgium bt Portugal

Quarter Finals:

Brazil VS England
France VS Germany
Spain VS Uruguay
Argentina VS Belgium

Difficult to predict from here.

England to QF is a real possibility. They can very well beat Italy in group stage and a Falcao-less Colombia in Round 2.

France Germany will be a terrific match. Tough to pick the favorites. Same goes for Spain vs Uruguay. I would want Uruguay to go through though.

elprincipe- I agree with you, as I had similar thoughts regarding Fede and Garay sharing the same room, but then I realized that they used to be team mates in Napoli and for sure they are used to each other being room mates, the same thought might go with Higuain and Garay during their time in Madrid.

What I liked the most, was Masche and Zaba both are leaders in the team, where they have a great discipline and influence on the team members, where I hope they create a duo that solidifies our defense and backs up our forwards when needed.

I hope this vibe stands by our side and doesn't take us overconfidently to heartbreaking results.

Taking each single step seriously and progressing as the tournament gets warmer is the best thing to do!

During the match of Argentina-Slovenia, I saw several players who had great mutual understanding between them. The first couple was: Basanta-Rojo. They both shared the defensive duty on our left side and their understanding looked great. They were covering each other in 3-5-2 or 4-3-3.

The second was Messi-Aguero. I watched the game two times and I noticed that Aguero always attempted to make one touch pass to Messi where one of them became a great assist. I am just glad that they look close to each other on and off the pitch.

When the team decides to put Basanta-Rojo in one room and Aguero-Messi in another. That'd do good for us. They can have extra communication in the room. I wish another couple would share the same room: Di Maria-Higuain.

Higuain had an interview lately where he said that Di Maria is the player that understands him the most.

Also Garay and Fede must have shared the same room.

Roy,

you clearly have failed to mention the massive implications of sharing seemingly such simple information!!

1. As observed in the team picture post previously, Palacio and Basanta are now conjoined twins at the neck. They cannot be in 2 rooms at the same time. Unless of course, Basanta stuck his head through the wall into Room 6, in which case, you are right.

2. Fairly certain Room 6 is at the left side of the building, at the back.

3. Gago gets his own room so that he doesn't trip over any room-mate and get injured. Now, let's hope he hasn't learned any tricks from Banega or Pillud! :-)

4. Palacio needed a separate room just for that ponytail of his. It's a big oversight which will cost us.

5. Demi and Maxi missing from that list!!! I have no doubt that either they are yet to make it to their room because they are the senior citizens of the group, or have been sent back to Argentina.

6. Rooms 6 and 12 are actually WWE cage matches astutely organized by Sabella. Whoever between Campagnaro and Fernandez emerges victorious gets the starting CB spot. Likewise between Rojo and Basanta.

7. Romero and Andujar don't have a room currently. Apparently, the room key for 11 was given to Romero to pass it to Andujar, but he accidentally threw it to the opposing Bosnian team who have their camp set up next door.
