@Amlan-- the main goal is to win the WC,,not to score the most goals... even if we tried it today,, it is never possible because we are not living in 1950s..

Just hope that this positive karma stays with the team throughout the entire tournament..

This team is looking real good, many people here was saying how argentina's bench is too weak comparing to germany, brazil, spain..now it looks like this squad is the best of this world cup, we have got so many alternatives..ricky alvarez, enzo perez, augusto fernandez, lucas biglia they all are fantastic! we've got a great midfield..all the credit goes to sabella for choosing enzo and augusto instead of banega and sosa..after watching brazil play the night before, i think brazil will have no chance against us if they meet us..the only concern is the goal keeper position, which really need to be sorted out, romero is looking like a U-15 player, sabella should give a chance to orion!

Another thought. Use Higuain as a pinchhitter in case he is needed. Start with Enzo instead, he brings balance to midfield and interceps many passes.

Convincing performance.
Best substitution ever: Di Maria, Aguero and Messi coming on together. That must frighten every opponent :-)

Messi looked cool and in control and... confident.

They play everything through the center. Must use the wings more often. Will happen if Zaba returns. The 17 year old kid did fine!

The lots of craps are being told about Romero is unbelievable..Now I'm reading Romero makes mistakes under pressure.Ok he did some mistakes, but they are not under pressure but out of no where.

He has some great matches with Argentina and they all were under intense pressure.

Remember Doha match Brazil was raining shots at Arg's goalpost.Copa America Bolivia match?Colombia?Uruguay?
Colombia in qualifier(2-1)?Peru(1-1)?Chile(2-1)?

And another member said our defender should not let him to face one -one situation...Guys gold fish has a better memory than you..

Have you watched copa or any of qualifier other than Paraguay(5-2),Peru(3-1)...During last 3 years he faced at least 8/9 times,he facedFalcao,Forlan,Pabon, chile's 3/4 players in one one situation without got beaten for once.Yes not for once.

Yes he has gone through bad times...But you have created a image of Romero in this blog only exists in your imagination. He is lot better than that you made him look like for the last six months.

people say messi doesn't play football argentino, but news flash, messi is argentinian, the way he plays is the way an argentinian plays, because, he is argentinian.

and you should be impressed and watch him play football like an argentinian and therefore argentinian football.

it may not be the way you think what argentinian football should be, but he is playing argentinian football, he plays argentinian football in barcelona, he plays argentinian football for the national team, and if played in the arctic, he will be playing argentinian football.

KingMessi - nobody really knows about injuries until the official word comes out. A couple of positives - he walked out , got some treatment, got back in, but then decided not to continue. Indicates that it could be precautionary. He also was spotted along with the rest of the players on the bench, instead of heading into the locker room for any evaluation.

All that is just a guess really, but let's hope he's doing fine , and the official word about it comes soon too.

every time romero touches the ball,, my heart beats like a hammer hitting a nail.. But if we continue to play like this throughout the whole WC,, then romero can spared of his blushes..

This B team played far better than Brazil's A team yesterday.. Croatia,Bosnia,Slovenia are all physical sides.. they can do some damage but at the end of the day,, they are no match for Latin american teams...

whether sabella is a great coach or not will be decided by his actions after argentina is 1 goal down in any WC game.. then i would like to see the hidden game plan of sabella... it's obvious that with this team,, we are expected to reach semifinals and if we go behind against spain/uruguay/italy then what tactics will sabella implement???? that will be the most defining hour of sabella's career...

Half-time report :
Outside of some highly douche-like , unnecessary tackles from the Slovenians , Argentina hasn't been troubled too much. Romero has had nothing to do really, except 1 brain-fart of a clearance.

Most of Argentina's attacks have come from the left side - with Maxi and Rojo providing width there, and Lavezzi playing up front. Ricky has looked tricky when in possession, and duly got a good goal. Enzo Perez is playing on the right side as a right sided wingback, and he , along with Augusto have had little to do really to make any kind of comment. Defense has looked steady without really Mascherano has been provided a lot of time , and has done a good job picking out long passes from the deep, spraying it around well. Biglia took a knock and got out of the game, and I hope it's not serious.

satisfied by our game.More so than that of against T&T.

Barring Rojo everyone is playing excellent. Rojo had always excellent crosses in him but i wanted to see tactical awareness and not making any gaffe at the back but his shitty pass and nervousness nearly cost us a goal.

against big teams these kind of mistakes would surely lead to a goal. Romero and rojo still a concern.

Hard to draw conclusions. They are playing it safely. Defense seems ok defending, but build up from the back is dreadful. Rojo is sloppy is his passing as is Fernandez. Opponents will notice this and pressure our team so that players like FF and Rojo will see a lot of the ball.

Good thing Sabella is not giving away his strategy.
