AGUERO, ZABALETA and GARAY out of match

Sergio AGUERO, Pablo ZABALETA and Ezequiel GARAY will not play against Trinidad and Tobago.

It has been announced that the three players will not take part in the match due to minor knocks. Here's what SABELLA trained with today:

ROMERO; CAMPAGNARO, FERNANDEZ, DEMICHELIS, ROJO; DI MARIA, MASCHERANO, GAGO; MESSI, PALACIO and HIGUAIN

And also, its since the BPL had the influx of Spanish and South American players the league became more technical.

el principe: Even if England failed in the group stage, I feel the manager (whoever it may be) should keep the core of the squad for the 2016 Euros..Rooney, Lampard and Gerrad should all be out of the team after the world cup..

I predict many draw games in group D, the group winner might end up with 4 - 5 points..

Italy 1 vs England 1 or 2 - 2

Uruguay 1 vs Costa Rica 1 or 2 - 2

England squad is very strange. The players are either way too old or way too young. There is pretty much no in between.

If the team does well in the WC, they will be a real force 4 years from now. If the team fail in group D, they will make major changes.

I think England will go for a draw in every game. They know they don't have what it takes to beat Italy or Uruguay.

I predict group D will be like this:
Uruguay 1-1-1
Italy 1-1-1
England 1-1-1

after 3 rounds. The goal difference will decide.

@Amlan

If England beat Brazil or vice versa. I don't care. I But if England must face Brazil and the winner will meet us, I will support England since it should be easier.

Watching today's match of Ecuador and England, I tell you I like the prospect of facing Ecuador. I hope they will finish 2nd in group E.

Ecuador game fits us. They love to attack, they don't play park the bus and their defense is weak. We kicked their butt easily in WCQ. It was 4-0 or something. The fantastic four was playing. The friendly 0-0 did not count as Sabella was experimenting with the back ups and new tactic.

I'd rather meet them than Switzerland. Switzerland have every right to park the bus against us as they know their limitation. Ecuador show no fear against any teams. That's exactly what we need.

Attack us and you will go home fishing.

england, has been disappointing in the world cups... i think to a large extent it has to do with what you say, the player's name recognition exceed their real talent... although against germany, in the last world cup, it wasnt clear that it was germany who deserved to go through....

anyways, i personally do not fancy the english ver emphasis on physical game over technique...and interesting factoid is how few players have won the world cup while having played the last season in the premier league.... by the time they get to the world cup they are exhausted, or so says capello...

anyways, in this year, i agree, and in my view, this english team starting 11 in talent is below portugal germany argentina spain france belgium italy...

england has a team of solid players who play at perhaps the best league in the world... they do not have the best team in the world, but they are contenders, top 12, along with argentina, france, spain, belgium, italy, portugal, brazil, germany, uruguay holland chile and colombia...

i think he is a big reason why argentina will win..
and dont get me wrong, i think gago and banega are super talented, in particular gago, has a high futbol, IQ,im just saying that for the talent they have been under achievers at the club level...
and i think sabella is right to take gago, despite his lack of club form, but cannot take gago and banega....

gago and banega cannot play together...
in the 4 games together in valencia, valencia received 20 goals...

we will see enzo perez play...
today he is argentinian best midfielder...
a world class player, who defends and attacks...

enzo should be starting instead of gago...
but either was, we will see enzo, be it at a 442,
or because he overtakes gago spot...

This is a real test for Fernandez. No Garay to partner with. He has to lead this defense today and make a statement to the rest of the squad out there. That you guys can go and play your game up front, we aren't leaking anyway.

The one point we are overlooking a lot is what the exclusion of Banega means to our midfield. Till June 2nd, we were all assuming that the likes of Ricky, Augusto and Perez may not be playing more than just a few minutes in Brazil. Now with Banega out and Biglia basically being a sub for Mascherano, we would surely be seeing one of those 3 guys getting a huge role in the midfield come world cup. Question is who will that be. And how is Sabella planning this new man up. Surely it wouldn't be Maxi.

As stated by Argentine daily Clarín, the decision of the Argentine coach Alejandro Sabella, leaving off the list of World Newell's midfielder , Ever Banega , has upset the heavyweights Albiceleste set . Especially Messi and Di Maria as they have a good relationship with the former player of Valencia.

In this article, Clarín speaks of " emotional rift " between the group of players and coaching staff . However, the Argentine newspaper stressed that there were no " in-fighting " and that remains a common goal : world champions crowned in Brazil. Also, the paper clarifies that the most affected are Lionel Messi and Angel Di Maria "who comforted the wheel excluded in their room. Madrid wept with him. Everyone was surprised and annoyed how the technician resolved but no one paid a direct claim. "

Sabella is not viewed with the same eyes for those players who are so convinced that Banega had to go to the World Cup. In addition, no calls for Tevez , Willy Caballero and Otamendi has cast doubt on the figure of current Argentina coach .

Sabella used FF in 3 man backline 2 or 3 times. His performance was not good. For exmaple Ecuador(1-1 at Quito) and Uruguay(3-2) match. He did many mistakes in that two matches.

But his performance very good in a 4 man backline. He was outstanding against Falcao,Ibrahimovic,Suarez(3-0 home match).Especially how dealt with Falcao was amazing!

He is a good game reader, tackler and header. He has decent pace, always calm and assured. On the otherhand,Garay is good marker, physically imposing, has
high clearance number per game and a great passer of the ball.

Garay is FF's perfect partner. That's why he looks better with Arg than Napoli. At Napoli,Albiol is average and the likes of Maggio and Armero has no defensive skill. Inler and Jorginho adds little class in midfield.Yet he had a good year with Napoli.

Possibly Daniel Edwards and many Mundo members do not
have much trust in FF.But I trust him.I like him since
the first time I have seen him in action when he came as substitute for Zabaeta in Sabella's first match against Venezuela.I hope that he will shine in this World cup.

Unlike many say, teams are wary of our attack and would try to reduce the space available to Messi with a close mid n def...but that might not necessarily reflect that they are defensive.. so we must try to use flangs nalso long rangers just to uunsettle such a trend from all teams.. besides we have a few explosive players who can attract attention of a few players and then create space for Lio n team

@Freeman:The reason Federico struggled in Napoli under Mazzari was not due to his talent. He was used as a LCB there with Cannavaro as sweeper and Campagnaro as RCB.To play in that area you need to be experienced, calm, superb in one-on-one and should cover wing if wing back joins the attack. And should maintain a balanced head between attack n defense.Summary:He was not that good on that position as he is in a 2 man CB.
--In addition using Campagnaro on RCB would help Zabaleta to contribute more to attack and Basanta on LCB would help Rojo to be more sound defensively.
--Mascherano can help Garray in central area where he excels.
--Add height in defense(Campagnaro,Garray,Basanta are aerialy superb and Rojo,Higuaine and Angel can add height).
-- It's needed only when Zabaleta is unavailable since there is no direct replacement for him.
*** my view though

i am a big fan of sabella. he talks about having a balance, and recognizes that with the standard 433 with the normal caracther is inherently difficult to reach such balance... and we should not ask messi kun pipita to defend so much they will exhaust themselves...

i expect sooner rather than later, a 442 or 532... a surprise 424 (532) with the duo masche demichellis sweeping the midfield with their taclkes to protect the back 4, and the 4 fantasticos left on their own to create chances is also a worthy possibility...

“El ser más equilibrados en defensa es algo en lo que estamos trabajando: muchas veces, eso depende del sacrificio de jugadores para retroceder y ser un equipo más corto... Pero ahí es justamente donde hay que buscar el equilibrio, porque por ahí hacés correr de más a un jugador para defender y pierde su real valía que es en la ofensiva”, analizó, tan claro como conciso, Pachorra. Y acto seguido, reafirmando su idea, le dio paso a otra: “La idea es tratar de buscar el equilibrio pero sin pasarse al otro lado, que es perder el potencial ofensivo;

tizeboule, campagnaro over rojo would happen, but it would may sacrificing zabaleta and making him play on the left side, his weaker side, is that what you want?
as to enzo over gago, I too would like to see that, gago is talented, i would say in his futbol IQ gifted, but physically and defensively most time he is not good again big teams.... my idea, start enzo, and bring gago fresh in the last 30 minutes...

To all argentines out there that love this team to death. The moment of truth has arrived. Now that we have the players the big names, players from top euro clubs, can we play together well? My biggest concern is team chemistry. I'm talking about chemistry among the forward and middle. I'm still afraind about the chemistry among the defenders since till today we don't know what our definite start x1 would be.

I'd rather see enzo over Gago but that's not going to happen. I'd have campagnaro over rojo that wont' happen either.

The most imported point about the 2 remaining friendlies is not whether or not we beat trinidad and slovenia my how many goals; it's rather team chemistry. Is messi gonna have to come from behind to get the ball. WHo in this team beside dimaria can run and make some deep pass to Messi so that he doesn't have to play low. Seriously I don't think Gago can retain the ball for long and dribble when facing tuff opponents.

Guys don't underestimate Bosnia-Hertz. They play very well and dominate Mexcio all 90 minutes. They are europeen therefore have great tactics and solid forward like Dzeco.

We need to be ready and play physical againtst them cause they are coming with a great spirit after beating Mexico.

Game one is crucial cause we still have Nigeria to play against. We can't afford 2nd place cause our path will be much harder if fail to be the first in our group.

Let's hope we are ready and select the best players we have depending on the oponents. I hope Sabella start against Slovenia the real team that's going to start the world cup just like brazil is going to play their team next game.

It's about time to be serious. Stop under estimate europeen team. Bosnia is a serious Oponent, Nigeria as well. I don't want to bring last copa america when we brought all of our best players and failed to beat Bolivia at home and columbia. Playing in Brazil even some of you say is in our back yard doesn't make a difference at all!!! All of these world cup players are professional. They are used to play in front of large crowd away from home. Stop that non-sense.

We need to do our homework by aligning the best players we have and come and execulte the plan that Sabella has. No room for mistake with fool like Lavezzi that is good at missing goals. We don't need Lavezzi in this team. Let him warm the bench. Bring on Palacio who is fast, Enzo who desires to Play, Dimi Campagnaro zabalett Garay tuff defenders.

Can't wait for the world cup to start.!!

Tizeboule argentine for life

"1 big factor that argentina's attack is gonna do extremely well is due to the fabulous 4's dominant foot..as in messi + di maria both left footed..aguero + higuain both right footed players..hence an attack like this can shoot or create chances n trouble defences frm both sides..this i think is gonna give argentina a huge tactical leverage compared to other footballing giants..tats y i believe sabella is a genius. Lol

Vimal,Being left or right footed has nothing to do with tactics and players capabilities, both Pipita and Kun can unleash unstoppable shots with their lefts. Messi can curl round an advancing GK his right. Di Maria Can can't use his right but he can cross or shoot with a rabona. Finally Fab4 don't attack from those positions like you explain from both sides.

I think if Zabaleta absent then a overhaul is needed in 3-5-2. Garray and Federico will be great as a pair, but in a 3 man defense they will struggle to deliver. The positioning of CBs in 2 man defense and 3 man defense is entirely different. The Rcb and cb play different football defensively. So in Zabaleta's absence I will play a tweaked 3-5-2 with
Campagnaro-Garray-Basanta
Perez-Gago-Mascherano-Angel-Rojo
Messi-Migraine
With Messi and Angel pulling the strings from middle by interchanging the responsibility of creativity.

I think thru my observation 1 big factor that argentina's attack is gonna do extremely well is due to the fabulous 4's dominant foot..as in messi + di maria both left footed..aguero + higuain both right footed players..hence an attack like this can shoot or create chances n trouble defences frm both sides..this i think is gonna give argentina a huge tactical leverage compared to other footballing giants..tats y i believe sabella is a genius..watch their goals n play n ull understand wat i meant

Although I see us winning it, I think our game against Bosnia is not going to be easy for us, especially if we don't score in the 1st 20 minutes. but unless they have a different game plan against us, they go at their opponents which will suit us just fine too.

I don't make my judgement based on media reporters' opinions, so I like it when they are already judging our defense to be weak. YES it is our weak point but to exploit that weak point one must expose themselves to the Lion king and his pride. I want teams to try and attack us. Ask any S.American coach what will happen to those who think our defense is there for taking? It's going to be a trap for the coaches who buy into that myth, coz the last thing any team wanna do is present us with a counter-attacking opportunity.
Nigeria is one of the teams definately gonna attack us coz that's their playing philosophy. They don't know how to sit back and defend. It's not in their DNA, no matter how superior the opponent.

Talk is just talk, actions reveal reality. I'm happy that Brazil, Germany and Spain are rated as favorites above us. We were red hot favorites at Mexico 86, right?

http://www.goal.com/en/news/1717/editorial/2014/06/04/4859507/why-england-can-win-the-world-cup?ICID=HP_BN_2

I made my own list

Possible scenarios, England to win the World Cup:

- England get seven bye victories because of opponents weird stomach deseases

- FIFA want to push country, who invented football and pay officials extra fee to fix matches (but this can be dangerous, because it might not work)

- 23 players from each team following fail in doping test: Brazil, Mexico, Croatia, Cameroon, Spain, Holland, Chile, Australia, Colombia, Cote d'Ivore, Greece, Japan, Uruguay, Italy, Costa-Rica, France, Swiss, Equador, Honduras, Argentina, Bosnia, Nigeria, Iran, Germany, Portugal, Ghana, USA, Belgium, Russia, South-Korea, Algeria

- On 15. june morning it appears that aliens have stolen all the players except England ones

Enzo is way better playing the CM role as his passing from the middle is perfect and he connects the mid with the offense very well. Augusto is a guy id play on the right because of his speed and crossing ability and thats pretty much his game. Hes probablu the best crosser on the team.

It seems like Sabella wants Palacio to play out wide on the right since Zaba is out to provide width while having Messi roaming in the middle

Out of topic, but must say it.

English media is so funny. They keep talking, that their team can surprise, because there are low expetations. But the more they keep saying this, bigger expetations there are. I am sure, that these young players feel pressure, because everybody keeps telling that. Hope they fail in group stages and I am sure of it

“I believe Argentina are favourites. They have good players throughout the team, but Sergio Aguero and Lionel Messi just tip it,"

“It will be extremely difficult for teams to stop these two players from scoring. Argentina are more or less in their own backyard and they are used to the altitude and weather"

“They will also have fantastic support. However, it is the fact they have two of the finest players in the world, which just swings it for me.

“The team may have some defensive concerns, but Argentineans are typically streetwise.

"I honestly believe they have more quality than the other nations.” - Michael Own

Sabella will sticks with his game plan, as always; he will not do any experimental formation. All is taken at his place; Only If Albicelecte have leady by 3-0 then we can expect a lot of subs got the playing time.

Winning is very important to boost the confidence although it is friendlies game.

Argentina need to start with there regular starters for the game against Trinidad barring the likes of Garay, Zaba and Aguero who will all be out..We haven't seen the first XI playing together for a while and the game against Romania was not an inspiring one, so its wise for Sabella to use his regular starters for the first game..I want to see if the Messi/Gago combination is ready for the world cup..We have enough minutes to test players, we can use the Slovenia game specifically for that, but its important for Sabella to use the T&T game as a build up for our possible starting line up for the world cup..It's important to have our starting XI match fit and ready to go before the big show kickoff..

1)Starting XI for Trinidad 4-3-3

------------------Romero-----------------

----Camp-----FF-----------------Demi---------Rojo

---Gago----------------Masche--------------Di Maria

-----------Messi------------------Palacio-------

-------------------Higuain-------------------------

substitutions in around the 75 - 80 minute mark;Maxi for Messi, Biglia for Masche, Perez for Gago, Alvarez for Di Maria, Lavezzi for Higuain..

2)Starting XI for the Slovenia 4-3-3

--------------------Andujar-----------------------

---Zaba--------Camp----------Garay-----------Basanta

-----Perez------------Biglia----------------Alvarez

---------Maxi--------------------Lavezzi-------

--------------------Aguero-----------------------

Again Sabella should make substitutions in and around the 75 - 80 minute mark for the Slovenia game...He (Sabella) should use less subs for this game though, giving the probably world cup starting XI some rest for this game..Demichelis in for Zabaleta with Campa replacing Zaba at RB, Palacio on for Aguero, Augusto on for Perez...Orion will probably be the only player on the squad not getting minutes for the friendlies..

Note: I don't see Sabella using any other formation at home other than his favorite 4-3-3.

Argentina is going to play the friendly agaist T&T. Sabella can use these players with 4-2-3-1 format.
Romero - Demichelis,Fernandez,Campagnaro,Rojo - Mascherano,Gago - Dimaria,Messi,Palacio - Higuain.

Real Madrid could play their Fab4 so successfully since those 4 players could do a lot of defending in their games. And were efficient in counters too. That way Palacio and Lavezzi would be wonderful components of a possible Fab4. Where except Messi, all the remaining 3 players (Di Maria, Higuain, Palacio/Lavezzi) are excellent in tracking back. It would be interesting to see how these 2 guys make a Fab4 for us. I would be eager to see Lavezzi thrown in as well. Let Aguero rest, we have a couple of other things to examine.

Go, Sabella. Go.

And i am glad that brazil won by 4 goals , let their over confidence reaches higher. So that their fall will be much painful.

campa, fernandez, demi, basanta
biglia, perez, alvarez
messi (c), lavezzi, palacio

I understand the need to gel with Palacio upfront, but Sabella should play Di Maria only until halftime. Even an Ángel has his limits!
Now, related to players attitude towards avoiding injury in two friendly matches like these just before the big show, I think was Parreira or Scolari that said, regarding their players, that there's no point going in and "half-assing". They should play normally and avoid only the obviously unnecessary risks (those you'd gladly take in a WC or UCL playoff match), because it could backfire due to players starting the tournament still "cold", which can lead to injuries right on the 1st match. I agree with that, our players should play at their normal pace against T&T and Slovenia.
