Ossie ARDILES: I see Argentina as winners

Speaking to the media, World Cup winner with Argentina Osvaldo "Ossie" ARDILES commented on the World Cup, Argentina and Lionel MESSI. Here's what he had to say:

"I see Argentina as a potential winner and I think they could do it in a dramatic final again Brazil. It's true we haven't made it past the quarterfinals in a long time but Argentina is always one of the favorites to win it."

"Every World Cup is different, but at this one we are one of the main favorites to win it. We have everything going in our favor and also an excellent team, especially with the quartet of MESSI, HIGUAIN, AGUERO and DI MARIA."

ARDILES on MESSI:
"We shouldn't even compare him with anyone else, ever. Every players has his own style and approach to the game. MESSI really is unparalleled. I have no doubts that he is among the top five players in history. He doesn't need to win a World Cup to prove it."

for those of you who don't remember or know Ardiles is one of our greatest ever midfielder's for the n/t and in the 78 w.c the numbering system was alphabetical meaning he wore the number 1 jersey.

If Sabella cuts Lavezzi because he won't pass a doping test, that's a good decision. No 1994 repeat please.

Sabella will now surely regret not selecting Icardi, Tevez, Correa or even Lisandro Lopez (the former Lyon player). If true, we will be a striker short.

Let's wait and see how this unexpected twist turns out.

The question is not whether or not Lavezzi was taking steroid, the ambiguity is why did he have to leave the camp when fifa was on board for testing against doping and Sabella is freak out on him about that. There is a big question about why he did that.
Guys we would rather not taking him instead of having him and find out later. We can't afford this situaation to dis-stabilize our team.

I wouln'd be surprise at all. Lavezzi is a freak he runs too much!!! for those who don't beleive this news. Check our infobae.com. ole.com

Firstly, the same sites that reported the rumor reported previously that he had been excused. He left and Crespi said he had permission. Second, if he is going to test positive for anything it will be pot or blow, not steroids, because he parties - a lot.

Germany last 3 games..struggled at home to Chile winning only by 1 - 0...Tied with Poland 0 - 0..Tied with Cameroon 2 - 2 and Germany could only manage a draw because of an offside play..

This Germany team is plague with injury, Lowe still haven't decided on who should play at the back..Boateng at RB is a joke..Germany has no CF, they're gambling on a 36 years old Klose (great player but he's past his prime)..Germany have never played with false nine at world cup before, they always have great CF going back as far as the 1990 world cup..Khedira is injured, so too Scheiwny, so too Lahm..If I was Lowe of course I would be worried, yes these are friendlies but its not like its 2013, we are so close to the world cup..All I am saying is that this German team is not ready for prime..Germany games will be played in humid conditions which will not suit their play especially playing Portugal and Ghana at 12 pm..I see Germany struggling in their group..

Woah! Sometimes , cherry-picking of data is being done to try to re-affirm some beliefs.

1. Don't put too much significance on friendlies. The outcomes don't really matter too much. They are played for match-fitness, minor tactical experiments, and observing fringe players.

2. No team has had a great set of friendlies. Germany drew 2-2 with Cameron. Spain cantered to a 2-0 win against Bolivia. France 1- Paraguay 1. Holland with a close 1-0 win against Ghana. Think other European did any better? Italy 0-Northern Ireland 0. Surely, South American teams did better? NOPE. Columbia 2- Senegal 2. Uruguay 1- Northern Ireland 0. Chile had to come from 2 goals down to beat Egypt. These results mean little.
Bottom line- NO team has or will look convincing enough. Neither are these big teams as bad as they seem to be.

3. Many of the line-ups shown by teams in these friendlies are often not the final word yet.

I jst told we cant write off spain... Greece winning euro says all about these tournaments, they were not de team played best football in dat tournament, may be one f de worsts, but in de end they r de champions... Those who played most attractive football r not considered for de trophy, those who win is all about... Jst imagine if we met a team in knockout stage n they parked de bus n we didnt score in de whole 120 mins... The pressure will b straight back on us... May b they wont hav a single shot on goal or atleast a 30% possession or a single positive move, but if they win at PKs our journey is over... So we must fear every single opponent imo...

But it's a foolishness to say now i know, coz national spirit can give them additional energy n power, but if we face them in final the team who hold de nerve better will win imo... KID, do u hav any properly rated team... Teams like france, who play compact game has a good chance on tournaments like WC... More than free scoring teams, teams who play cautious football n concede less will do good in WC like tournaments... Spain scored only 7 or 8 goals at 2010 wc, italy dont concede a single goal frm open play at 2006 (if i m not wrong)... Also we cant write off germany bcoz they r de most consistent performers in wc for some years... Spain as well had a dream time winning 3 major trophies in a row, if they won only any one we can say it luck or something something, but they became de best continously in 3 major tournaments, undoubtedly de biggest success by an NT in recent time...

A lot of people look at these Euro teams and say they're a threat because they have players in prominent leagues..I mean, I read where someone said on a comment from another website saying ''Croatia have probably the best midfield in the world so they have a good chance of beating Brazil,''like really?Kids think club resume will win them games at this summer world cup..France is a perfect example, now they have a lot of players in England so people assume they will be great at the world cup..Koscielny (Arsenal) and Sahko (Liverpool), these two clubs have two of the worse defensive record in the England for this past season..Sagna and Evra are nothing special at the moment....I agree France have a pretty solid midfield but its not better than ours..

MaraDon, I think Neymar will come very handy for Brazil this time, he is extremely overrated and doesn't have the guts to stand up when it matters; but I see him winning many free kicks and penalties with his dives, he might get a player or two even sent off down the road. The game is in Brazil and I can see the referees giving him the calls easily.

Argentina can beat any team doesn't mean they will.

In a tournament it matters a lot to play easier games: your players don't get exhausted, don't get yellows, don't get injured and you will not be forced to use all your cards.

Also, mistakes are bound to happen, if Romero commits a mistake or two, it's easier to come back against the Swiss than the French.

But this is going to be the biggest test of Messi's strength, if he doesn't deliver this time around we all know Cristiano has another ballon d'or in his back pocket and the rest of his career is not going to be any easier.

It is down to Messi himself how to handle the pressure, like it or not, the pressure on him is huge after having a bad season for his standards and seeing cristiano not only win ballon d'or but also the CL; let alone not winning anything for Argentina.

Messi himself and everybody else knows the pressure is huge on him.
