Augusto FERNANDEZ trains normally

Augusto FERNANDEZ trained normally with the rest of the team.

For the first time since joining the team, Augusto FERNANDEZ trained alongside everyone on the team. It looks like he has fully recovered from his injury.

Argentina plays Trinidad and Tobago on Wednesday, June 4.

@joesoccers: The problem with that and not using a balanced box to box guy is that you leave MAscherano alone, waiting to get a red card.

it appears SOSA is out
Demichelis and Perez are likely picked

final 2 between

otamendi vs campagnaro

Ricky vs Augusto

Really hopes he picks Ricky, he is too slick

Augusto doesn't look like a gem even to me. He is strong, tactically efficient. But what he lacks are those sparks of brilliance that might rescue us in case our big players are blocked by some park the bus team. The sparks Lamela had, Pastore had, Maxi has, Gago has, Banega has. Although whoever are our 7th and 8th midfielders, they may not even be playing a single minute in Brazil.

Very eager about the 2nd June announcement. I would like Enzo Perez to stay. He can fight for possession, can help our attacks and can also hold balls and rotate passes.

If that's the case we have a midfield as good as anybody and no Demi please! He is our forgettable past, if you guys want to talk about championship mentality then why Sab didn't go for Fazio, one of the best defenders on current form in the world and he is a Uefa cup winner.

everybody is complaining, but other teams look at the argentina lineup and see messi, aguero, higuain and dimaria.

they aren't focusing on argentina's midfield, their midfield will be to worried about stopping messi and co.

so argentina should tactically have the best offensive midfield possible.

argentina's defense doesn't have to worry about stopping a strike force anywhere near what argentina has.

on average, every other team has only 1 or 2 threats at most. much easier to defend.

masche leading the defence and demi playing like man city, with zabaleta support is a strong world class defence.

demi and zaba lead and were part of a championship winning team. masche was also champion defender with barcelona.

they had kompany, but they know how to defend at the highest levels and know how to win championships, even though the world cup is a higher level of football, they have the capabilities to stop any offence in the world.

We will get more detail information or facts, better say, on the 2nd of June.

There's no reason to assume on Sabella's final 23. We are not their physically, (unless, the tall guy is "Lin"), lol.

There were a couple of player's that I wanted Sabella to call, but never did. I have to roll with the punches now.

Argentinas 8 midfielders should be
1.Angel Di Maria
2.Lucas Biglia
3.Javier Mashcherano
4.Enzo Perez
5.Ever Banega
6.Ricky Alvarez
7.Maxi Rodriguez
8.Fernando Gago
There is no place to piece of shit like Sosa or Augusto.

@Aslam: The Ole article I posted before about the plane states that the plane has the blue and whet of Argentina, the 2 stars for the Cups won among with the AFA logo, and the images of Messi, Higuain, and Aguero painted on it.

While it does not say that they will be flying within Brazil, one would assume that since they have their own airplane for the event that they will be using it for more than just flying to and from Brazil.

Kid otamendi is faster and makes less mistake then Demi he also plays in brazil that is a bonus all our defenders are slow except rojo and otamendi , Demi is mistake prone there is no point arguing about that, on the augosto thing we have many players who are similar to him like maxi, and Ricky but we don't have box to box midfielder , it is an area were we have weakness against top teams we need energetic box box midfielder to battle the opponents in the midfield , agousto can't do that , enzo Perez can but sabella will cut him, it means a major weakness not addressed like the goalkeeper situation

Sure, first let me post this other one:

http://mundial-brasil-2014.clarin.com/pueden-quedar-afuera-lista-Sabella_0_1147685580.html

This article basically calls out the 6 I already mentioned as being the last of the 3, but in their eyes they seem to think Augusto is likely to be cut along with Sosa, and that Ricky Alvarez and Enzo Perez will make the squad. They also think De is almost certain of being selected ahead of Otamendi. If true it would be great news in my mind.

How is Augusto an average player? I see this guy play against teams like Real and Barcelona and put up good performance while its not the case for players from England and Germany who played against Barcelona and Real in the UCL this season..Real Madrid trash Schalke and Bayern Munich yet Celto Vigo defeat Real Madrid..You guys don't treasure your own because they're not playing for elite clubs..This Argentina squad is a great one, Sabella has done a great job to keep this team together, with no drama or scandals..

I find it very contradicting on here by some folks: They emphasize that Sabella is a great coach and he's able to win the world cup, on the other hand, they say it wouldn't surprise us that Sabella chooses average players like Sosa, Demi, etc...over better talents. I know selecting the right and strong players in every position is chapter #1 in coaching, more harder chapters to come.....in the world cup in particular selecting players is the first test for any coach......how far can he go when it comes to producing complex tactic plans and switching formations, etc.....?

guled to be honest Demichelis was peaking at the last end of the season..Demichelis was Man City best defender in the last part of the season leading up to the tile..Demichelis peak at the right time while Otamendi was scrambling to find a team after he could not get starting time with Porto..Demichelis won 90% of the air ball this season for Man City and he was the one leading the half side trap for Man City..I get Demi is not quick anymore but is height and reading of the game can be crucial for us..AS I said earlier, I don't mind Demichelis coming off the bench to help protect a lead with like 10 -15 minutes to go..

@el Principe:Agree with you mate.Someone has improved Atletico squad, not the other way around. They were a team of couldn't make it guys(JuanFran,Miranda,FelipeLuiz,Gabi, Turan,Garcia,Adrian) and some unproven talents(Courtous),coming up players(Koke),not sure guys(Diego Costa) and a washed up David Villa.
--Then how the hell did they win La liga? The debate will be stronger not now but after some years.I have a strong feeling that Chelsea would be the first team to understand, when Costa fails miserably the fans will cry a river with furious questions like what happened to that Costa?how he performed like that?why he can't reproduce that magic? And some EPL obsessed fools will say that's because Leagu is stronger than SPL and bla bla bla
--Determination was the symbol of Argentine teams,I don't know what happened but there is not a Someone,Ayala,Sorin anymore in our team.Really loved that high pressing, aggressive but beautiful nature of Argentinian footballTAANGO

@Richard

Diego Simeone can make his Atletico ball boys to look just as good as any Barca/Madrid players. I believe the quality of players are not the most important thing for Simeone. What he must see in a player is determination.

He can make someone who's poor offensive with limited skills and make him valuable as long as the determination level of the player is at least 9 out of 10.

It actually reminds me of Diego Simeone himself as a player. When he turned 30+, he longer had the dribbling and tricks he used to have. All he got left was determination.... but that was enough to convince THREE Argentina World Cup coaches to START him: Alfio Basile, Daniel Passarella, and Marcelo Bielsa from 1994 to 2002.

I am talking about being a starter for a team like Argentina for 12 years +.

Don't forget the factor of Estodiantism. Enzo Played under Sabella for the red and whites and was one of the main pillars of his midfield that reached the final of the CWC against Baraca and gave Guardiola's men a hard time!

Sabella will have to choose between Enzo and Sosa in the first place, then comes Augusto.

It's between Augusto, Sosa, Enzo, Demichelis and Otamendi!

For sure three out of those will be cut, unless Sabella comes with a major surprise and chooses Sosa over Messi!!!

i think Enzo is better in almost all area and more balanced one..hes in excellent form now....and it is not sure Augusto can play the same as before all of sudden after this injury. Sabella knows Enzo..but he has improved a lot since he left Estudiantes and hes in form of his life currently. Augusto can be more of a goal threatening, assisting player..Enzo can be more balanced in all area... I like Augusto and has defended his selection here many times...hes a good player...but Perez gets my vote..hes a good choice right now...a better team player.

I also want Enzo myself. As I stated, the only major flaws I see with Sabella's selection are keeper and box to box.

I think he might be looking at a 4-4-2 option and likes Augusto more for that. It's all speculative. Maybe Enzo is in fact in...who knows.

For me including Enzo is the last improvement we can make wight he list we have, and midfield would be more secure in my mind.

We have a surplus on mid, maybe the eraeson is due to the prone of injury on mids players, like Gago,Banega,Biglia. However, I prefer Perez rather than Augusto. For the formation. I predict every team has a flexible formation, Italy under Prandelli is the best example with their elastic formation 4-3-1-2 and 3-5-2,extreme is Spain 4-5-1

Sabella indeed have started in the training camp . Team A with 4-3-3 and Team 2 with 4-4-2 or 4-3-1-2.

So, Sabella trusts Augusto more than Sosa... Enzo exclusion was no surprise. Augusto has been decent this season. Had he been played for a team like Atletico he would have been targetted by big teams, I think.

I think Demi has earned his place. He has been in form for over two months, provided great service to City in absence of Nastasic, Kompany and Fernandinho. I think he deserves this.

I am supporting Demi here. But don't blame me when he makes any mistake in the world cup. In a tournament like world cup where a tiny mistake can put an end to your hope, Demi cannot be solely trusted. He is just as good as a sub or a third Central Defender in a tournament like world cup.

We were never short of talented players at any time since maradona and bilardo time , but we were not lucky with coaches, I think the problem might be afa meddling I don't know , with right coach and good selection we would have won cups by now no doubt, think about a team like Uruguay did better and reached semis and won copa with their limited talent , Spain got good generation and they took advantage by selecting the best players they had in every position and they won trophies, same with the French team of zidane and Henry they took advantage of that generation of good players, we always had good generation of players in every tournament but some key players are always left for favoritism and silly things like long hair it is crazy but that coused us not to win any trophy

A time will com where our strategies are thoroughly studied, opponents will pressurize Gago to his limit by dragging him more to the right wing and tempt him to our own box defending. That will leave a narrow space in between front 3 and MF and Messi will be demanded to come too deep possibly hurting our tactical setup. Then one of Kun/Pipita is replaced by Agusto who is placed just right to Gago, taking lot of pressure from Gago and which gives Gago to move a little bit higher on the pitch and link-up with Messi. It makes Messi stays between their MF and defense panicking them thus they are compelled to stay on their half.Maxi can do it too but Agusto can be preferred when more hustle and defense without compromising creativity is needed.
---Why Sabella do not consider Enzo is beyond me,In all these situation Enzo is better imho, may be there is some other qualities needed by Sabella or Sabella have some prejudice from his Estudiantes days.
---Sabella may be a chess lover and loves Booby Fischer a lot.(Consider Tevez as a bishop in chess board who he gave to opponent).Worldcup will prove it...

So far i noticed in these brazuca used matches that this ball do not swing at all unlike south africa produce zabulani ... The main reason is that the grip and out cover of ball. in some content it help to grap easily which is very easy for best keepers but looking at the romero situation (his past mistakes) feels fear that he may handle it difficult..in case of set pieces we have messi and sosa(if selected) whose free kicks suits this balls but i am little convinced about di maria crosses... Finally looking at ball condition many goals will come from outside the box i guess..i am happy we have aguero, messi,di maria in this situation.

The 'tall man' is an in joke between kid and maraDON. On the first day of camp a tall man was seen practicing with the team and everyone was wondering who that was and thanks to some fine detective work from Dr Majdy I think it was revealed that the tall man was one of the U20 fullbacks who came to spar with the main team.

We have many similar players like augusto fernandez , many attack minded midfielders are already I don't understand why sabella is insisting on many players who play similar way , we already have maxi, Ricky these players are similar to augusto but we need box to box midfielder, that is were we need help against big teams, we need midfielders who can hussle ,gago and banega are inconsistent , enzo Perez is that player but unfortunetly sabella will cut him , we will see but it is not good decision

That tall man is a reincarnation of Paul the octopus. He vanished after the last world cup, and has reappeared just before this one. And he likes to stay with the winners. Paul wants to learn the game. He wants to notice the champions closely so that his predictions never go wrong.

I think Sabella will keep Augasto,he is versatile, can play at left, right and center.Perez has less chance than Alvarez.Perez never made the team after the Chile(4-0) Squad.Demi over Otamendi, cause demi has world cup experience, though not so happy experience!

MaraDON The mysterious tall man requested that all these players should be at the world cup: Garay 6'4''; F Fernandez 6'2''; Ricky Alvarez 6'2''; Rojo 6'0''; Higuain 6'1/2''; Basanta 6'2''; Demichelis 6'0''

Sabella now have 26 players, so in a few days it will boil down to 23 players..End of the road for Enzo Perez, Sosa, and Otamendi...Thanks for everything guys but unfortunately only 23 players can make the world cup in Brazil..Ricky Alvarez is 6'2'' he's like our tallest midfield player..I agree with Sabella tactics, can't have too many midgets on the team..Augusto is not short by any means either...

I hope Enzo get selected but with Sabella waiting on Augusto for all this time, then that means its more likely that Enzo and Sosa are out...Otamendi is also out..

''Cristiano Ronaldo hit by thigh injury..''This is what happen when Real fans make fun of Messi for being injured, talking about how Ronaldo is a true athlete..Now its Ronaldo turn to face the realities of the human body..This guy will struggle at the world cup, especially his game is based on a lot of running..

Sabella went to Italy at the ending of the club season to meet with Higuain,Biglia, Alvarez, Campagrano and Palacio..All of them are going to the world cup..

He will likely cut Otamendi, 1 of Alvarez or Enzo, and 1 of Sosa or Augusto.

I'd prefer he keep Otamendi and cut De, but De can play DM as well as CB. So I guess it makes sense.

Those are my guesses. 5 more days we will know for sure.

I like Augusto, he's technically good on the ball and can make great runs..His off the chest assist to Maxi for the goal against Uruguay was brilliant on his part..I like the idea of having these unknown players in the squad like Augusto, Alvarez and Biglia.
