Four players set to be cut today

Four players are set to be cut from the list of 30 today.

Reports in Argentina are coming out stating that four players will be cut from the list of 30 today. While Alejandro SABELLA has until June 2nd to cut his list of 30 down to 26, he will start cutting players today. Franco DI SANTO, Fabian RINAUDO and Lisandro LOPEZ will all reportedly be cut today.

Hugo CAMPAGNARO has a knock which means that Martin DEMICHELIS and Gabriel MERCADO have a better chance to stay in the list of 30 until June 2nd. With Augusto FERNANDEZ injured, Enzo PEREZ and Jose SOSA are both fighting for a spot.

I dont get all the garay rumors. He's been linked to man utd and many other clubs for long time already and yet nothing happened. I cant even remember how many times it was said it was a done deal for his move to man utd and yet nothing, and like someone said, I won't believe he actually moved to zenit until one day i saw him playing on the field for them.

Sabella must cut out who and take who, best line-up blah,so many defenders so many midfielders blah, blah! Hello guys! Reality is here! The player's performances in the training camp results will determine the final squad. AND Training is starting on Monday!! Time for fantasy line-ups talk is over! General Sabella will assess all his troops first-hand next week, when the real drilling starts. So all these assumptions made here aren't going to affect Sabella's own judgement. So, why don't we wait and see what transpires during preparation. We'll see after the 2 friendlies, what shape we are in going into the WC.

Rojo in trouble? I hope to see him in Brazil
Vamos Argentina!!

I disagree with this prediction because if Germany meets Brazil in the semi final, I would give the edge to Brazil since their attack will be hard to beat by the Germans who will come out to play it safe as usual although it will be an even battle to watch. Also Colombia was underrated in his prediction.

Pradi, el principe, haman - I totally disagee with you about Ricky. He and Banega are useless for NT and even dangerous (too much lose of ball). But it is only my opinion. I prefer even Sosa and Augusto over Alvarez and Banega. I think we really need Enzo Perez if Sabella "forget" about Gaitan, Salvio and Pastore. Pastore since a few weeks/months is our best playmaker. But I know he's reputedly unsuitable to Sabella's team. I don't know, When I'm watching Pastore's game against Uruguay (2011) or Spain (2010) I see him in good cooperation with Messi.

@el principe: I agree with you that teams like Chile, Colombia won`t give Brazil a run for their money as teams like Germany, Netherlands and Spain. Brazil will sweat if they meet a giant European team early in the competition.

I also agree with you that my most hated teams are Brazil, England....I also place Germany before England and 4th spot is Chile. Therefore, officially my most hated teams this WC are in this order:

1) Brazil
2) Germany
3) England
4) Chile

As for your comment (Kid, promise us... if Chile lost in the elimination round in the World Cup, please don't disappear and change your name to "Lin" again).

I think Kid shouldn't hide in this case or else I will have to make another trip to the Embassy of Singapore and investigate about his new ID. Luckily last time I recognized him after their FBI agent showed me the following items found in Lin's suitcase:

1) Tata's green frog T-shirt/ was sent on Father's day to Kid.
2) Alexis Sanchez photo (shows Alexis buried his head under his shirt after wasting the 490th pass from Messi) that was sent on Valentines day to Kid.
3) A flag of Chile/ was sent on Chile National Day to Kid.

Aslam,
sabella just said two days ago, that he wanted to have 2 Player for every Position, and players that can played several positions... he also said that he current/recent form was important...but he said gago was important and his recovery was looking good...

this all together indicates to me that we will go with 8 midfielders and 7 defenders:

demichellis will be Chosen otamendi...demis has better current and decent form and can play two positions...

Augusto fernandez will not be chosen... because that would mean taking 4 midfielders with recent injury: banega, gago, maxi and agusto...

i dont see him dropping gago, banega or maxi...

so basically it all Comes down to, you have 2 positions for 3 players:

Enzo, ricky Alvarez and sosa....

unless sabella Drops gago, maxi or banega, (which I think he should) i see himi dropping enzo..

Sosa is an average but not bad player and a cool minded person. Perez is a good player and hard working. Decision is Sabella's. Anyway they will be a sub player.

Perez can do what Sosa does and he will be useful asset to protect our defense. Thumbs up for Perez.

Tizeboule,

i agree about gago...People ignored, that even before speding the last two years injured, his weak defense was the reason real Madrid, roma, and Valencia did not want him, even for free...

now, over the defense, aside from garay and zabaleta, no one else is world class...

perhaps mussachio will be, but he was playing in second Division till this season...and fazio and FF are at similar Level, good centre backs at Sevilla and Napoli...

as to rojo, as a Center back he will soon be in an elite european Team, but for argentina he is there as a left back, and who is a better left back than rojo?

What the hell, I don't understand why people care so much about who will be cut out from the 30 list.

This 30 list of players is already wrong in the first place.

The right thing to do is, to call up Caballero, Ansaldi, Gaitan, Icardi, and maybe Iturbe all along...that is all not too late, then all is fine.

Don't forget to throw out some garbage like Romero, Rojo, Lavezzi, and Palacio.

Here we go again bringing injured players to the WC!
Sabella sabella so stubborn! Why in the world should HGAGO PLAY OVER enzo even when he's fit?? Plus, he wouldn't be 100%ready. So why gago? Here in Mundo, is the only web site that thinks this defense is OK. Other team would die to have Fazio, Gaitan, Mussachio, Enzo in their starting line up. We could have fix our crappy defense but we omit the key players that have volume, fast to pass and release the ball. Instead we are stuck with risky injured players. Guys remember we gonna play against a young and very physical Nigeria team.

Best line up against physical team
Zab ff garay Dimi (forget rojo)
Enzo mashe ( mid defense)
Messi. Dimaria (mid offense)
Aguero Higuaim (forget lavezzi use palacio as sub)

Our forwards need to pressure the other tea! Defense to release the ball. They can't be lazy waiting for ball and not defending. So many times teams score goals cause of their forward pressure

Higuaim needs to move his lazy behind! ! Mess I as well

i realize People are not keen on the squad i provided before, i personally think it would be the best Option to Balance playing with 4 attackers...

pipita
dimaria messi kun
mascherano demichellis
rojo garay FF zabaleta

this is a trully well balanced Team.
it has a physical and strong midfield, with masche and demichellis protecting the back 4...

and messi and dimaria, and even pipita and kun, have become not just Goal scorers, but also creative players since the last 4 years...

if we take 7 defenders, we would have 3 Young (rojo, garay, FF); 2 at their experience/physical peak (basanta and zabaleta) and 2 older ones(campagnaro and demichellis)...

sounds like sabella... always going for a Balance...

his starting back 4 is Young, but I would not be surprised to see him add demichellis to form a back 5 with an experienced Player, that can alternate, in the same game, playing as a duo midfielder with masche and as part of the back 5...

friends!
the only players that can play only one position are garay and FF.. .

i think sabella may pick demi over otamendi...bcs demichellis can play as a number 5 and a center back... and otamendi makes even more mistakes than demichellis..

compare to demichellis, otamendi adds speed and atleticism to our slow back four, but basanta can do as well and is less mistake prone..

Mundo went down members gone mad. Mundo is up, members are still mad!

Garay to Zenit. Well, I still don't believe, until an official agreement is signed, for sure a better club will step in and as I read, Juve have made their bid!

Focusing on our main topic, Sabella' reduced the squad to 26 players and three more will be leaving soon. "Augusto, Demichelis and Sosa or Perez", I think those players were in Sabella's mind to be sent back.

Sabella praised Martin in a press and that shows me, that he could be cut as well. This is Sabella's way of wise words to the public, " I like Demichelis, but only 23 men are allowed to make the squad"!
Its just an instinct in me after all.

"Perez, Sosa, Augusto, Demichelis and Otamendi", three out the five names will be cut from the squad for sure!

The Liverpool and Uruguay striker is set to undergo surgery on his knee and is a major doubt for the World Cup

Uruguay striker Luis Suarez has been made a huge doubt for the World Cup after it was revealed that he is to undergo surgery on a knee injury.

The Reds star, who was voted PFA Player of the Year by his peers after scoring 31 goals in Brendan Rodgers' title-chasing side, felt some discomfort during a training session with his international team-mates on Tuesday.

Subsequent tests have shown an issue in his meniscus in his knee, and the 27-year-old will be operated on this week, with the South American side desperately hoping that he will recover in time for this summer's tournament.

i think this will be it... i dont think he is leaving sosa out so otamendi can stay...

Porteros: Sergio Romero (Monaco-FRA), Mariano Andújar (Catania-ITA) y Agustín Orión (Boca Juniors).

Defensas: 1 Pablo Zabaleta (Manchester City-ING), 2 Federico Fernández (Napoli-ITA), 3 Ezequiel Garay (Benfica-POR), 4 Marcos Rojo (Sporting Lisboa-POR), 5 Hugo Campagnaro (Inter-ITA), 6 José María Basanta (Monterrey-MEX), 7 Martín Demichelis (Manchester City-ING)

Mediocampistas: 1 Javier Mascherano (Barcelona-ESP), 2 Fernando Gago (Boca Juniors), 3 Ever Banega (Newell's Old Boys), 4 Ángel Di María (Real Madrid-ESP), 5 Lucas Biglia (Lazio-ITA), 6 Maximiliano Rodríguez (Newell's Old Boys), 7José Sosa (Atlético de Madrid-ESP), 8 Ricardo Álvarez (Inter-ITA),

Hi every body,
As I posted my comment before and wrote that there are 6 players will be removed, Di Santo, Rinaudo, Lopez, Mercado and also Augusto and Sosa.
The seven place will be as following:-

(1) If Sabella will take 7 defenders and 8 midfielders then he will decide between Ottamendi and Campangaro because Demichelis will go to Brazil, Sabella did not call him after 3 years of exclusion to drop him again.

(2) If Sabella will take 8 defenders and 7 midfielders then the competition will be between Perez and Alvarez.

and at last let us see.

Why are people worrying about the Orange ? They will play a 5-3-2 with two attacking wingbacks probably Blind on one flank and Janmaat on the other.

Their defence is very weak. They will badly miss Strootman covering it and their other two midfielders de Guzman and de Jong are nothing to write about. Sneijder playing as an attacking midfielder is in poor form.

One does have to be wary only of Robben and van Persie but the defence will know to push them onto their right feet where they are weak.

They were lucky to make the last WC final. I expect Chile and Spain to beat them.

Perez is a must for Sabella given the poor form of Gago and his fitness. Ditto for Banega. Romero needs to be put into intensive practice to remove his rustiness.

And all police forces are right to be worried about the barra bravas. They are a cancer in Argentine football.

Santiago Garcia of Werder Bremen is one to look out for at left back. One of the best players in the Bundesliga this season but overlooked. We have no natural full backs. Even Zabaleta is a converted defensive midfielder.

A shame Peruzzi was not selected.

Like or dislike, South American and African footballs still connected with the belief and assist of para-normal. However, i am sure Sabella will keep his face clean shave not like Don Maradona before :-)

Shukran lek 3zizi- @elpipita.

So many talents shined in their early 20s, then disappeared once moved to Europe (talking about the primera and especially, Boca).

One recent example is Pablo Mouche! Where is he now!!
Sanchez Mino is another prospect of Boca, originally a left sided midfielder (just like Di Maria), where his versatility made him play in different positions for Boca as winger as well as being considered at times as an LB.
This year, he wasn't in his best forms, where he started as a bench warmer in so many matches, but whenever he's on the filed he shows a glimpse of his talent and what I mostly liked about him was his partnership with Roman in the midfield when they play one touch and go, it just take you to another level something sense purely Argentine.

Sabella mentioned his name before, when he was on top form and even selected him for a match if I'm not mistaken.

Of course he's a one for the near future and I see him as a new Di Maria with more brain. He simply, fits the current position of Angel.

I really hope he gets back his top form and participates in CA next year!

This is simply my point of view about Mino.

@guled-- You have very little idea about latin american football fans.. Argentinian fans are no angels,, they are just as violent as brazilians,bolivians,colombians.. and in the issue of 1986 WC,, it is the national pride for all argentinians.. for them,, it is still the REVENGE of the 1982 falklands war.. Maradona didn't just defeat any england team,, for many fans he defeated the country of England so much so that the people here in Indian Subcontinent began to Idolize Maradona(England also oppressed India for centuries)..if Maradona is adored so much in here then you can imagine what the argentines think of him... In the same way Brazilians also have their football Gods and they are very prideful of their Five World Cup triumphs.. Football means LIFE for Latin Americans.. for English it is just another "Sport".. And that is the reason why they have never produced any truly legendary players(Beckham is a celebrity) while Latin America has produced the greatest players in history.. Pele,Maradona,Ronaldinho,Tevez,Rivaldo,Brazilian Ronaldo lived in poor slums in their childhoods.. they had no Education, no support from family, suffered from Hunger and Poverty unlike the wealthy Europeans.. they only knew how to dance with the ball on their feet.. they learned everything about Life with the ball on their feet,, they didn't need any Bookish knowledge.. and they climbed the ladder to become immortal Legends of football but they never forgot where they came from.. Tevez himself said it some day ago that he came from such a place that told him that "success is impossible".. In his childhood years,, Rivaldo suffered so much Malnutrition that he had a big hole in his belly and all his teeths were abnormally shaped.. Maradona spent his childhood in the Dustbins of Buenos Aires..

For Latin Americans,, Football is much much MORE than just a "Sport"..

"He had a great season in a football that is extremely difficult, competitive and physical. He responded very well, I could not afford to leave him out of the 30 and then see," Sabella admitted.

"He is a wonderful person, he knows he has a chance to make the 23, why not? We have one week to make a final evaluation."

Sabella about Demichelis..!

Interesting article:

http://www.ad.nl/ad/nl/1049/Oranje/article/detail/3656841/2014/05/17/Oranje-speelt-met-Argentinie-van-Maradona-als-voorbeeld.dhtml

For those who can't read Dutch (...)
The Dutch team is looking at the style Bilardo used as an example. Seven players forming a wall and working for the three creative player upfront. For Argentina in 1986: Maradona, Burruchaga and Valdano, for the Netherlands: Robben, Van Persie and Sneijder (or Wijnaldum).

The media pointed out that Holland does not have a Maradona...

@ Pep,
I will share some info on the Dutch team.
Defense and GK come from Ajax and Feyenoord and are all young and inexperienced. The only experienced player is Vlaar from Aston Villa (ex Feyenoord). Most are rookies as Kidulthood likes to call them. Ecuador and Colombia (with Falcao and 11 vs 10 for an hour) however created very few chances against these rookies. They ain't as good as for example Stam or Van Bronckhorst, but they do have talent. Ajax beat Barcelona in the CL this season and all these players did well in youth squads. Van Gaal (probably top 5 coach in the world) said something interesting: ‘I can learn inexperienced players something, I cannot unlearn experienced players something they do wrong.’ Van Gaal is a master in positioning and a realist. He knows he can’t play total football the Dutch way (4-3-3) with these squad as is switching to 5-3-2. Van Gaal can work miracles, he won the CL with Ajax in 1995 with ten unknown players at that stage. They became famous later (Seedorf, De Boer twins, Davids, Van der Sar, Bergkamp).

Midfield will be De Jong (Milan) and Blind (Ajax) as defensive midfielders and Sneijder or Wijnaldum (PSV) as creative player behind two men upfront: Robben and Van Persie. Those two are world class. If current fitness and form is anything to go by, Robben is more dangerous than Messi. Normally Messi is a much better player, but our main star was sleepwalking through Barca matches the last few weeks. Let’s hope his apathy and laziness was due to being obsessed by the WC. Messi hasn’t scored a goal in a big tournament since 2007…

I do not think the Dutch will win the WC, but who knows. Football is not science. In 1978 they missed the best player in the world (Cruyff) and still reached the final with mediocre players like Brandts and Nanninga. If Rensenbrink hadn’t hit the post in the last minute, they would have won in 1978.

The history of the WC is unpredictable. Until 2010 a European team had never won outside of Europe and suddenly we have two Euro teams in the final. This year the home advantage will surely count for Brazil, but that’s no guarantee they will win it. Pressure on Brazil will be enormous.

Yes that is a dangerous scenario , considering our lack of depth in fullbacks and we are mostly relying on the hybrid players such as hugo and basnata to play the role of fullbacks. If any of them are injured we may have to increase the defenders at the cost of midfield

@haman habibi shukran jazeelen 3ala kalamek al-latif.
Iraq as you well know is always troubled, I guess that's the price for being so rich both geographically and in terms of natural resources. But that talk is neither here nor there.

Btw I've been meaning to ask you something Haman, since you're a die hard Boca fan what do you think of Juan Sanchez Mino, do you think he's a future prospect in the midfield.
I've heard that that guy can play left back, left midfield and left wing and usually excels at all these positions. If that's the case he'd be a welcomed addition to the seleccion in the coming years since he's only what, 24 yrs old?

@theAbNormalOne if Camp can't make it (I hope not!) then Mercado will have a damn good chance of making the squad since he's a hybrid RB/CB.

Lastly one of you mentioned Leandro and I've been wondering the same thing, honestly this place isn't the same without him.
If mundo was the albicelestes then Leandro would be one of the fantastic 4!

If Campagnaro can't make it then Sabella would be urged to select one center defender and one right back in place of Campagnaro. So he would have to select 8 defenders hence cutting one of the 8 midfielders is a possibility. So,so,pray for Hugo's health...

UK fans warned over Argentinian gangs at Brazil games. British police chiefs are concerned that violent Argentinian gangs are planning to travel to Brazil and target England fans during next month's World Cup.

Britain's police lead on football, deputy chief constable Andy Holt, said he had been warned by his counterparts in Brazil that an unknown number of Argentinian troublemakers would cross the border during the tournament, leading to concerns about potential clashes with England supporters "given our shared history".

Holt said the prospect of Argentinian hooligans circumventing police by crossing the vast border with Brazil had "caused me some concern" given the simmering tensions still surrounding the Falklands Islands war in 1982.

"I still think that could generate some issues for us," he said. "Certainly it was a concern raised to us by the Brazilian authorities when we were out there that, given the shared history we thought that would not be a confrontation we would welcome and we will do all we can to avoid it."

what a bullshit englad still hating on argentina after world cup 1986, argentina fans are very polite and well behaved

elpipita- I kudos you every single day of the week and twice on Friday!

I'm totally with you regarding Ricky, he's a brilliant player, very versatile and elegant in the midfield and besides, his attacking contribution, he tracks back very well. He's work rate is high for me and I wouldn't mind having him next to Di Maria in our Midfield in 4, 2, 2 formation. He is simply, the best available choice to be a Di Maria sub.

long live Iraq, brother. the nation have suffered since, "you know" screw politics my man!

I'll support Algeria as well and wish them all the best of luck to reach the 2nd round and they can do it. They have what it takes of skill and grit!

IMO,the black horses could be Japan, Ecuador and Nigeria!
From Europe, Croatia got talent and there is Belgium.
At the end, no matter who goes through vamos Argentina vamos a ganar!

Also, Demi is a must like someone here mentioned Argentina can't win world cup without long haired players.....so we need Demi in the mix for the long hair since Aguero refused to go for hair extension.

as to romero, he will have his saves in the world cup...

I think Sabella should have selected Cambiasso, Riquleme, Samuel, Sorin, Zanetti,Julio Cruz, Martin Parlemo, Veron, Aimar, Ayala, Burdisso, Milito brothers,Coloccini,Gabriel Heinze,Saviola,Hernán Crespo,Lucho González all for the world cup because we can't win without these guys, they have shown us in the past that they can win the world cup, so how does Sabella think this ''rookie'' team will win in Brazil..Oh wait, we can't even win without Gonjalo, Nasaldi, Yacob, Cabellero, Musacchio, Fazio, Tevez etc How could Sabella leave out these world beaters off the team, the world fears every single one of them, the world trembles at the prospect of these players on the squad..

Sabella you're a ''FOOL" man..Argentina should have taken all the above to Brazil and drop every single player on the current team..Messi cant score, Aguero is injury prone, Zabaleta cant defend, Rojo is a joke, Di Maria is chicken head, Romero is a bench warmer,Fernandez doesn't start for Napoli, Campagrano is way too slow, who is Basanta? Otamendi is a disaster, Palacio and Lavezzi are useless, Ricky is useless, Sosa is useless, Higuain chokes in front of goal, Mascherano is red card prone,Biglia I am not so sure, Gago is injured prone, Banega is a hot head,Oh wait we got Enzo Perez so maybe we can win the cup..

My friends this Argentina team is doom, doom doom doom with the players they have..All I see is a bunch of useless players, I doubt if we can beat Iran or Honduras..The team is so bad that the AFA need to fire Sabella and hire Simeone so he can bring along Sosa from Atletico Madrid...Noway will Argentina defeat the unstoppable mighty Germans the most perfect team headed into the world cup, the tiki taki kings Spain, the 5 times champions Brazil, Portugal with Ronaldo who can score with any part of his body, the elegant Dutch, Belgium with all there BPL stars, The 3 lions the inventor of the game.

Lets just close shop now my Mundo friends Sabella has ruin Argentina football, this man as ruin Messi career also..Sabella I hope they send you off to Qatar..Bye bye Sabella no need for you!!!

I will be texting this Message to Sabella coaching staff before the week end..

Greets

Did anybody notice how fast messi was in some spurts against Atletico ? I swear he wasn't at full speed in fear of injury. But when he turned on the burners he was flying.

If all comes to form, Brazil Germany and Spain will be on one side of the bracket in single elimination. We will be with Italy Holland Portugal and Belgium. I like our chances and if any European team is technical and sound enough to beat brazil it will be Germany. I think you are looking at a Germany argentina final.

Ok my 2 cents:

@arg2014 you asked us who are the top 3 teams that we will be supporting and my answer is simple:

Argentina!

If my beloved (and very talented) Iraq was playing then they would be my undisputed number 1 but thanks to Bush and his war mongering cronies the country is in shambles and so is it's talented footballers (lets not forget Iraq U20 came third in the youth world cup).
Argentina is my adopted footballing nation, always has been and I've never been ashamed of shedding a tear (or a million!) when the albicelestes lose.

I live in New Zealand and I absolutely love the country but if NZ was in the world cup they would be a DISTANT SECOND to Argentina for me!

I will support Algeria just because they are arabs like myself even if I have to admit that I really wanted Egypt to be there because I just love that country.

AS for Brazil, Spain and Germany; I don't really care if other nations knock them out and I won't be cheering for other nations when they go up against these 3 because I ain't afraid of 'em and neither should the albicelestes (that is ofcourse not the same as saying Argentina should underestimate these nations because that would be stupid and suicidal).
I make it a habit to watch every albicelestes match (official or not) and after 2 and half years of watching Sabella's Argentina I can safely say that our boys can take on anyone, so to Brazil, Spain, Germany, France, Italy, Portugal, Belgium etc....all I will say is BRING IT ON!!! and start packing your bags!!!!

@outlaw you're worried about Zaba and I can sort of see where you're coming from because it's no secret that he isn't as dynamic for the albicelestes as he is for Man-city but you have to remember that club and international football are very different and Zaba has consistently shown that he's a hard working, defensively disciplined (key words here) warrior who gives his all for the shirt and I can't ask for more. Besides who else is going to replace him? Camp is a fine defender but I wouldn't start him over Zabaleta.

Now Ricky Alvarez, he's probably the most underrated player here at mundo.
Ricky is one of the first people I'd take to Brazil, the guy is elegant, creative, versatile and most importantly DEFENSIVELY DISCIPLINED!
Ricky is the closest thing we have to Oscar on this team.
Sure his performances for Inter have been lackluster in the second half of the season but that's because Mazzarri did the inexplicable move putting Ricky in the central midfield position instead of his natural no.10 position that he excelled at the beginning of the season (remember the praise he was getting at the begging of the seria A season!).
Sabella, like Mazzarri, has played Ricky out of position in the NT yet he did just fine and his performance against Ecuador in that tough friendly was a demonstration of his grit. And don't forget the 10 minutes of pure class that he showed against Italy.
No my friends, Ricky is must have for me.

Lastly (sorry for the long post everyone!) the 7 dead weights will be Lisandro, Mercado, Rinaudo, Disato, Augusto (sadly), Enzo (double sadly!) and Nico O, basically everyone whose name ends with O will be out.

World Cup 2014: Predictions for This Year's Top Favorites.

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2070061-world-cup-2014-predictions-for-this-years-top-favorites

This is way too predictable having Argentina, Brazil,Germany and Spain as the 4 teams that will make the semifinal at this summer world cup..They don't look at certain scenarios, like for example;Spain and Brazil meeting during the second round is a possibility, which means one of these teams will be eliminated or Germany losing to a team like Belgium..

If I was the one writing this article, and I wanted to attract more readers, then I would've throw in some wild cards in the mix, not the same old same old predictions..
