Argentines have already clinched titles in Portugal, France, Italy and England and surely either way someone is going to add the Spanish crown into that list.
It was D-Day with Barcelona (Gerardo 'Tata' MARTINO, Lionel MESSI and Javier MASCHERANO) and Atlético Madrid (Diego SIMEONE, José SOSA and Emiliano INSUA) were going into battle on the last day of the season.
Barca took the lead through Alexis SANCHEZ at half time were looking on course to win the title but some team talk during the break brought Atlético to life; the reward being the equalizer through Diego GODIN.
MESSI on the other hand had a goal disallowed for offside. The result stayed as it is, and it was the Argentines on the away dugout’s day for celebration.
All I can say, as much I’m sad to see for MARTINO and MESSI to end the season empty handed but I think it was much more meaningful to watch SIMEONE and Atlético to win this. Whatever team talks that Cholo said to his team during the interval, not a surprise at all since we all know about his leadership values as a player.
For MARTINO who immediately step down as Barcelona's manager after the game, best of luck in the future. It was a tough assignment for him from Day 1 and I like to thin he did his best. Both MESSI and MASCHERANO can now take a short break and start focusing on Brazil.
What does the future hold for Cholo now? Well I don’t know but certainly taking up the hot seat in managing Argentina should be one of them someday.
Congratulations to Diego SIMEONE, José SOSA and Emiliano INSUA!!!
