Martin DEMICHELIS could be called

Martin DEMICHELIS could be called for Argentina.

Martin DEMICHELIS could make the list of 30 for Argentina. Rumors emerging out of Argentina are that Martin DEMICHELIS could be called.

Another thing worth noting is that Augusto FERNANDEZ is injured and could miss the World Cup.

ok I see amlan wants zabs position, I guess I can move up to play di marias position as baker wants di santos position.

I do have a good left foot but im concerned Johnny is not going to move far from the centre circle playing no 10, Johnny no long balls and lots of running from you.

n.b the centre circle is mine for 90 mins to be occupied by me, I don't intend to move far out of it, if at all :)

I read the comments below and started scrolling down to see if I'm included!

@Chalz-
Cool one, but I've never played as a CB, I suck there!

I'm short at 5.6 feet 172 cm.

I play as a second striker or a right winger! I'm selfish when playing and sometimes turn to a headless checkin.. xx

Yes the one I posted is confirmed!

Arqueros: Sergio Romero, Mariano Andújar, Agustín Orion.

Defensores: Ezequiel Garay, Federico Fernández, Pablo Zabaleta, Marcos Rojo, José María Basanta, Hugo Campagaro, Nicolás Otamendi, Martín Demichelis, Gabriel Mercado, Lisandro López.

Mediocampistas: Fernando Gago, Lucas Biglia, Javier Mascherano, Ever Banega, Angel Di María, Maximiliano Rodríguez, Ricardo Alvarez, Augusto Fernández, Enzo Pérez, José Sosa y Fabián Rinaudo.

Delanteros: Sergio Agüero, Lionel Messi, Gonzalo Higuaín, Ezequiel Lavezzi, Rodrigo Palacio, Di Santo.

Other than ole, this site also confirmed it:
http://www.d24ar.com/nota/320927/estos-son-los-30-elegidos-de-alejandro-sabella-20140513-0405.html

So among the 26, Peruzzi is omitted. The 5 new ones are:
1. Gabriel Mercado (DF)
2. Martin Demichelis (DF)
3. Enzo Perez (MC/AM)
4. Fabian Rinaudo (DM)
5. Franco Di Santo (F)

off topic: Atletico have themselves to blame if they don't win La LIga, they had all the opportunities to rap up La Liga yet they let it got away from them, now they will be in a tough final game vs Barcelona, as bad as Barcelona has been this season they will still have a great shot at winning the league at the Camp Nou..So what does Semeone do, rest players for the UCL final or put out a strong squad and risk players getting injured? Costa is also coming off an injury and its not sure he will play vs Barcelona..Atlety blew their La Liga chances, they should have rap up this title a longtime ago and rest key players on the final day against Barcelona..Now I feel Barcelona will win it..

YEAH no Sosa! Sorry Deb, Kidult/Lin! But I am happy :)

Sosa is to make the final 30 only but not 23.

No Lamela :(

The 4 new names that did not make the Romania game:
1. Lucas Romero
2. Enzo Perez

BRASIL 2014

Monzon has an elegant left foot. Dig deep in Argentina you wont find similarity.

I know he's not that good defensively, but he scores from long ranges and a piece taker as well penalties. Very good crosses and decent dribbling skills.

I also find Vangioni as a skillful LB.

Height could be an asset for a defender, but it doesn't mean it is the ultimatum in defense. The greatest attribute for a defender should be his positioning, if he lost in that case everything is lost.

Lisandro is a nonsense performer... He need to grew lot more to reach at international level (IMO).... Fazio height itself help to win aerial battles a lot... His aerial contribution at de both ends of pitch for sevilla is been outstanding this season... I agree he has some negatives as a defender, bt i take him over lisandro for sure...

i think DEMICHELIS is deserved to be called ...he played very well in Man city ..Lisandro is awesome player too ..but i have a little worry about Marcos Rojo ..his side will be the weak spot of Argentina

@Aslam: I think Fazio is just better than Lisandro in a fie things."Defensive leadership,Defensive understanding,Marking,Arial dual,Heading, tackling,Passing, dual, technical football, versatility and and sorry I only remember those things...

Lisandro is better for certain types of schemes and opponents and Fazio is for others. It's about match ups, who's lined up with them and against them, etc.

Just my thoughts.

You want my opinion. I'd choose Martin DM as a last backup for Masche, I wouldn't take for a CB, instead for a DM.

I'd take DM for a DM spot!

It's his natural position and he could be an advantage for set pieces attacking or defending!

Demichelis played well in the last 5/6 matches. But I still think he does not possess that speed and confidence to play in the first team as a CD any more. Sabella should not choose him over some young successful CDs like Fazio and Musacchio.

But Demi is good at tackling and set pieces. I shall agree to that. He can easily be played as a replacement of Mascherano.

@theAbNormalOne, I totally disagree with your list...
and if 'greater in air' means...heading...i will put Lisandro any day over Fazio. Height is the main reason he wins many balls in air but not sharp as Lisandro...
IMO apart from air...Fazio is not a better defender...

@Everybody who thinks Lin is Kidult.
Whats your problem guys??? Lin may be Kidult's dad, mom, sister, aunt or anybody. You can always think regarding that once I even thought Kidult is actually SOSA's PM.And yes LIN may respond to anything that says something good about any other team(eg.@pep).And he may seem extremely pessimistic .But what ever it is....It's not gonna change Romero as our starting Goal keeper

@Aslam. You can say anything as you alike but Lisandro Lopez greater in air than Fazio. No never. The best 10 central defenders of Argentina at present in order
1.Garray
2.Fazio
3.Gonzalo
4.Musachio
5.Federico
6.Samuel
7.Campagnaro
8.Rojo
9.Nascherano (When played as a CB)
10.Demichelis

Don't underestimate Basanta, the South American conditions will work in his favor..You guys acting like Sabella was not suppose to select local players..if you never notice, Argentina has a population of over 40 million people living there..Is Lowe a good coach? just curious, I think Sabella has better coaching credential than Lowe..

My 30:

Goal keepers: Romero, Orion , caballero
Defenders: zab, garay, ff, rojo, basanta, campangaro, Santiago Garcia
Midfielders: mascherano, di Maria, gago, banega , bigilia, maxi , lamella, Ricky
Forwards: elpipita, aguero, messi, palacio, lavezzi

Backups: andujar, MUSACHIO, fazio , Perez , sosa, gaitan , icardi

In case lamella is not going icardi is the most logical replacement...

@Arglover Why? This is the same team Sabella used for the past 4 years..If you ask me this is a consistent roster..Sabella defeat Brazil, Italy, Switzerland, Germany and Bosnia with this same roster, so why can't we go beyond the quarter finals?

If Di Maria play to his full potential at the world cup, he will be better than every single midfield player on the Spanish team..Spain will need to do better than there 8 goal haul on the South American continent, because Chile will be waiting for them..

our bench is overloaded with defensive mids why would we want demi as another DM??? on our path to the finals garay and ffez are bound to get suspended and our backup are basanta campagnaro and otamendi... i dont know hows otamendi doing at brasil but campagaro always plays good whenever given chance ... how about basanta??? bansanta is not good enough to play as a LB we all know that but is he good enough to be our CB when one of the TWIN TOWERS are suspended???

We can include demi, sosa, lisandro lopez all..... They are all good, but only if we can go with whatever number of squad we wish to brazil... Bt unfortunately we have a restriction of 23, means the BEST should be there... I feel fazio is the best defender in air now at world football, aleast top 3... Experience is also not an issue...

Pradi: I agree Sabella postponed his list just to take his time digesting the shock after he saw Spains goalkeeping list. He also wants to surprise the world with the list that includes: Sosa, Di santo, Demi, and lead role goes to Romero.

Box to box midfielder what we need. Holding mid or heart of mid or linking with diffence and striker is what we need.... Do argentina have this type of player or enzo is only option....... If he is then why he cant be called up... If not then call pastore or sacrifice one of higuain and kun to enclude cambiasso and company.....i think sabella is taking revenge of his exclusion in 1976 and 1986 even though he was recognige as top linking player in his shiffield days...... C'mon sabella use your bald brain.......... Call enzo, willy and fazio ahead of drunkard banega, son romero and unknown basanta or elopeded otamendi
