Matias KRANEVITTER could be called for World Cup
For those who follow me on Twitter, this shouldn't come as a surprise as I tweeted about this a few weeks ago, but it looks like I could be right. Alejandro SABELLA is at the Argentinos vs. River Plate match and is supposedly watching Matias KRANEVITTER, of River Plate.

KRANEVITTER is a defensive midfielder, a young and solid one at that. A few weeks ago, I had heard that KRANEVITTER could be called for the list of 30 for Argentina, this was after Fernando GAGO got injured.

I love this kid and the idea, but I think it's too much on his plate too soon.. Has no international experience yet, but then again... U never know I guess, we could all just be really surprised!! He is gonna be the " next jefecito". :)

@Deb

I prefer we call up the 89 year old Diego Simeone than Sosa hehe.

At least Diego Simeone is good at motivating the team.

If Augusto is not available, let Sosa fill in that slot. Good for us.

Is Sabella still considering Lamela? What is his recent recovery update?

Also, I think Sosa will be in the final 23. I know el principe wouldn't agree lol but when it comes down to defending a lead and we need some physical men in the middle, Sosa may be a handy option. We do not always need creative passes to kill a game, just by physicality and being strong games can be won.

Suppose Gago becomes unavailable from the middle of the world cup and we need to substitute Biglia at some point of a game, who will do that? I prefer Sosa to Banega or Ricky. He can just hang in there and make all the difference with his simple passes and physical energy and discipline. After all, he must have learnt something from Simeone!!

One tactic (4-3-3) not enough for success.
for 2nd option (4-4-2) must called 8 midfielders

actually sabella wait for Lamela.if his fitness done, than no chance for aguste & sosa.
Lamela capable for Left Foot winger from right side.

Like: Mash Gago
Lamela Dimaria
Messi Kun
its not easy for opposition to stop this 4 skill full & speedy players.

Surprise:if sabella called 7 MF( when Lamela not fit),then Icardi added.

If my prediction is right, both Augusto and Sosa will make the list of 30 but NOT the final 23. I think it's wasting too many space to call 8 midfielders as 7 are confirmed as the 23 (Masche, Gago, Banega, Biglia, Di Maria, Maxi, and Ricky).

Remember we play 4-3-3 meaning 3 midfielder. 3 back ups are enough. We have 7 already. The 8th would be not worth it.

Sabella's tactic is not 4-4-2, so no need to bring 8 midfielders.

Studies determined the injury Augusto Fernandez , distal Grade II sprain on the internal lateral ligament in his right knee. The doctor said you need a few weeks to heal but " try to shorten ."

After being replaced within ten minutes of the second half of the meeting that his Celtic won 2-0 at Real Madrid, Augusto Fernandez underwent studies to determine the severity of the injury . The MRI revealed that he conducted the captain of Vigo suffered a Grade II sprain distal medial collateral ligament in his right knee.

In the absence of 31 days to the World Cup, it seems unlikely that the former Velez can recover. The head of the club doctor Juan Jose Garcia Cota , said that " this injury has a healing period of several weeks." But he also said that given the proximity to the World Cup and the possibility of the call "will try to implement a more aggressive treatment to shorten and recover as soon as possible ."

@Haman, I go to Manama every now and then from here in Jubail. Whenever I need beer and bacon......

@Everyone: Am I the only one who sees this Kranevitter pick as a transparent ploy to make sure he can just as easily be cut from the 30 to justify inclusion of favorite sons?

Everton players were in good form this season. I'm pretty sure some might shine, like Barkley and Baines!

Still they could easily get kicked out from the groups stage.

Just had a glimpse of 1998 19 years old Owen. The match against Argentina was his gate to stardom! He made it a tough night for our defenders!

Thanks for that clarification Vick. Looking at the squad England seems awfully weak in the back. I expect the fullbacks will have to be on their toes.

Agreed with El Principe - ultimately in the 23 squad, I wouldn't expect any surprises!

@johnny - minor correction regarding Gerrard - he won't be playing box to box, but more of a last DM -pivot type role. He often drops back right between the 2 CBs when in possession to help build from the back. He doesn't have the speed anymore charge box-to-box , but can still find some good passes, switch from side to side.

Question to Roy, other moderators : Any plans for a WC preview - analysis of teams etc? I would be very happy to contribute with the very limited knowledge I have :-)

Oxe chamberlin is de english youngster impressed me most, even more than sterling... He is not like the usual english players, one who likes to dribble n go rather than just using power n pace... Look like considering gerrard n lampard in deeper roles, smalling n glen johnson r poor at back...

Yah... I don't think Hodgson has any expectation from this world cup considering the group they are in and the adverse places they will be playing in. I heard England will have to travel a lot during group stage.

England always lacks in creativity. They try to fill that gap with physical power and speed. They always rely on long shots and set pieces.

But I like how Hodgson lowers the average age by getting rid of oldies like Terry, Cole, Barry etc. and including in form and speedy young stars like Oxlade, Sterling, Lallana, Shaw etc.

Hodgson picked a good squad by leaving out some older players and going for youth. Credit him for that. Now, can he actually have them play decent football ? So far there hasn't been any indication that he can. They are weak in the back outside of Cahill and who will replace Carrick ? Gerrard to reprise his DM box to box role that he settled into at Liverpool ?

In all seriousness though, best of luck to Banega. Of all the Boca players that went to Europe when I was following them in BA, Banega and Cata Diaz were the two that bothered me the most. They were terrific at Boca.

the defense is ok --given that the only one defending are masche and the 4 backline, is normal the defense wont seem great... but sabella has done a good job at choosing his Players, except at excluding Caballero...

Guys , Most of the time we are discussing about our problems in defense , we are always asking to call mussachio,fazio,demi..etc

But right now how good is our offense..? , there is no disrespect to our forward line , but are they in good shape comparing to the beginning of the season....?
Messi is on and off most of the time , pipita and kun are recovering from injury.

And there was one video that shows our goal scoring pattern under sabella , if you observe 99% of them scored in the similar pattern , any good opponent tactician can observe this and make tactical adjustments to counter this threat.

for me we have to work more on set piece goals , and some long rangers too.

Defense is sabellas forte , he is a defensive minded coach , and more over all our defenders are doing pretty well , i think we wont loose this battle because of our defense

it just my personal opinion.

Don't expect:
1. Surprises
2. High profile names

tomorrow.

Sabella have said it there will be no surprise. We know the 26 already. The remaining 4 will be either the players who Sabella has monitored before or just merely domestic based "unknown" players.

Why? Because they are highly unlikely to make the team. It is easier to get rid of the unknown players, they won't cause chaos in the dressing room or media.

I've watch this kid for several match this season and ofcourse he has a good potential to be a good Devensive Midfielder in future. But I think he isn't ready yet to gell with senior team and his mentality too.

I still prefer Yacob to get called by Sabella even in West Brom he is not the firs choice anymore. We need The Hard Worker Midfielder with high determination like Yacob. He would be perfect partner for Maschernao to covering our defense and give the stability for our team

This was a big match for the kid tonight. Ramon Diaz lined him up in midfield next to Christian Ledesma, in a role that he would be used on the national team so that also worked in his favor. He's got a great vision of the pitch and is able to beat opponents to the ball. Very similar to a young Mascherano. A clean tackler with great passing ability. Might be a little too soon to throw him into the national team mix. Sabella was present to also observe River players to be sparrings for the national team as well.

My support for this decision. Vangioni also deserves. He is rather strictly DM. He playing between midfielders and guards. Bur he has excellent technical skills.
