Gary linicker said it best....

it isnt what diego did to us in 86 , its the pitch he did it on controlling the ball was imposable yet diego did that on a pitch like a cow field on a farm..

john barns when he dribbled the ball and put the cross in for linicker to score I WASNT THINKING ABOUT THE GOAL i was thinking did diego see me ..

gary linicker i walked out onto the pitch diego was kickig the ball way way into the air and with out looking up collectedthe ball back on the same foot in the exact same place SOMETHING THATIS CONSIDERED IMPOSABLE TO DO DUE TO PHYSICS AND GRAVITY true story

zidane no player on earth cn play rebound on a cross bar first hitting the cross bar is ear imposable when trying to hit it over and over, and having the ball return to your foot again is near imposable no player i have ever seen can do this only diego...

YET DIEGO DID IT FOR FUN OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN with ease..

even in his mid 30s overweght and adicted to drugs and booze you still couldnt deposes him of the ball at boca juniors and his passing range was amazing

the most fouled man ever to grace a football pitch FACT

Messi is one of the boring personality in world football. His only carisma is, that he is the best. But he thinks only about football and he is true example to kids. That's why this kind of guy NEEDS TO WIN THIS WC!

Thanks John! lots of emotion whenever I watch Maradona's performance at WC 86. football seemed to be much more pure than today. fans and players were closer, there was no agent or team manager behind the players during interviews and we didn't hear the same bullshit over and over again.

there is ONE and ONLY -- D10S-- the greatest player to ever grace a football field..

No other player had dominated the WC so much so that the WC itself was owned by a single player.. After all,, what Maradona did in that WC was well beyond the limitations of this mortal world.. Here are the list of other legends who have spoken about the greatest player ever:

1)Zidane: the greatest ever
2) Careca: admiteas was far better than pele
3) Bobby Charlton: the greatest footballer
4) Gullit: he was from another world
5) Marco van Basten: The Greatest footballer ever
6) Former manager of england bobby robson: hate him or love him he was the greatest player of all time.
7) Zola: he was the god of football
8) Ronaldhino: he's was my idol and greatest
9) won player of the century at fifa 2000 awards
11: Ze Roberto and R. Carlos: Maradona was without doubt the greatest
12) Bearzot: Maradona is football
13) Sacchi on sky: Maradona is the best player in the world
14) Baggio: Maradona all players dream
15) gentile: Maradona better than Pelè
16) Boscov: Maradona can not be compared
17) Sivori: maradona the best in the world
18) Cantona: Maradona is the greatest art.
19) Eusebio: Maradona was the greatest
20) Maldini: Maradona is Maradona
21) Sir Alf Ramsey:Pele had nearly everything. Maradona has everything. He works harder, does more and is more skillful.
22)Platini: What Zidane can do with the ball, Maradona can do it with an orange.
23)Zico: "Even God woul've hesitated to do what Maradona did in 1986"

and the list goes on and on...

Platini once said, "What Zidane can do with a football, Maradona could do with an orange".

How many of us pretended to be Maradona while playing with other kids?, we all wanted to dribble the ball past everybody and score.

El Diego was the man, he was a one man wrecking machine and the ONLY player deserving of the title the best ever.

The picture below tells it all.

C'mon ARGENTINA, like a phoenix rising from the ashes! It is time we bring the trophy back home.

I saw this when it aired. Excellent. Our football's finest moment. We won it away from home so no dispelling what we accomplished with rumors of controversy (except the hand of god goal). We outplayed our competition and we did it with our own style, not parking the bus. The only downside was that it was only a 30 minute show (with commercials). I've watched all the matches of that world cup so many times. A truly, truly gifted player. Without him, we would never have had Ronaldinho. Or Messi for that matter. Thanks Pelusa!
