An Argentina team not going to World Cup

While looking at the names who could be going to the World Cup, I started thinking of those that weren't. Those players who could very possibly walk into any National Team in the world, but not Argentina's. It's while thinking of those names that I came up with eleven players for Argentina who are not going to be there in Brazil, but could be part of a seperate team.

Here are eleven players who are not going to the World Cup for Argentina, but can form a team.

Willy CABALLERO; Gonzalo RODRIGUEZ, Martin DEMICHELIS, Mateo MUSACCHIO, Federico FAZIO; Erik LAMELA, Claudio YACOB, Esteban CAMBIASSO, Javier PASTORE; Carlos TEVEZ and Mauro ICARDI.

Substitutes: Marcelo BAROVERO, Julian SPERONI, Javier ZANETTI, Juan ITURBE, Lucas OCAMPOS, Nicolas PAREJA, Santiago GARCIA, Nicolas GAITAN, Enzo PEREZ, Angel CORREA

I dare say that team would defeat many of the countries who will be there in Brazil.

when messi was was in superb form, ronaldo funs atticulated that he is shining bacause of xavi, iniesta, and barcelon star-studed team, now madrid have also star-studed team like,di maria, modric, bale.and ronaldo is already in champion league final and he is also fighting for treble with his madrid side, that means he is again top contender for another ball`odor next season, but this time will be determined most likely on who wins the world cup.so messi do something to lift that trophy and retain your crown from ronaldo.

Nicky B- I bet you had this feeling for the past three WCs at least, and specially, under Bielsa in 2002. The best out our last couple of decades squads and yet, couldn't even make it to second round.

Now- everything seems to be in place so far, except Messi, we aren't sure the he is 100% himself!

Alright- I wont go for a super anonymous team!

I'd rather add three names to Sabella's squad, which must be in the final 23.
Only if I had the choice:

- Caballero
- A decent LB, could possibly be (Vangioni or Urban)
- Cambiasso

Cambiasso's inclusion is a must in the team, he's really in a great form and with his experience he'd offer a lot to the squad.

Maybe- we need a sub for Higuain, but there isn't anyone standing out as the real deal. Icardi, has potential, but it's to late to get used to the rhythm of the team!

I feel it in my bones that Argentina will be lifting that trophy come World Cup.... I ASSURE YOU GUYS that seeing of Messi in all his glory will be seen the WORLD will PAUSE and he shows just why he's the best and winning the most IMPORTANT Trophy in world football. With Di Maria along side him in midfield and Kun on the side running at defences and Higuain completing with goals and creating space for Messi and Co trust me guys we are in for a treat from the GENIUS

speaking of B teams how about this:

Sergio Romero; José María Basanta, Sebastián Domínguez, Federico Fernández, Hugo Campagnaro; Maxi Rodríguez, Éver Banega (Leandro Somoza 68'), Lucas Biglia, Augusto Fernández (Mauro Icardi 82'); Rodrigo Palacio, Érik Lamela (José Sosa 76').

Now this is far less fancy than our 'wishlist B team' but it is also the very same team that pushed (and often outplayed) Uruguay's A-team in Uruguay for quite come sometime and though they lost (thanks in large part to Suarez's dive) I for one was able to hold my head up high and tell people that the team that I support can take it to anyone even when considerably understrength.

We question some of Sabella's choices but unlike our previous idiots er...coaches one can find some method to Sabella's seeming madness and until proven otherwise I will be fully supporting him even if I don't agree with some of this choices.

I was a huge fan of Madrid when el principe Redondo was there, but since they turned into celebrity team, I don't like them anymore.

However, this year, I love Real Madrid in terms of their tactic! I think their tactic is quite flawless and should only get even better when trained together.

Anytime I see them playing, it always reminds me of Argentina, although there is only one Argentine there.

Th defensive teams winning and destroying the flair teams is a lesson for sabella he should open his eyes and set up his team well having a weak flair player like gago won't work he needs very physical midfield, also having stupid keeper like Romero is recipe for disaster , the old man needs to wake up

I personally cant wait for Sabella to disappear after the world cup then I think the best and most inform players will be selected for the National team not players linked in some way or the other to Sabella last club that he coached. It hurts me so bad to see willy cant even make the team as a sub...come on tell me all you can about Tevez and he is not a good team member but what can be said about willy in that regards.
I cant believe the mentality of our coach I said before and I will say it again " this old man need to visit Pope Francis for prayers"

Looks like a forced list with a ton of Euro centric and only 1 home based player? No Fullbacks in the starting 11? Correa is there but not Zarate? Sanchez Mino is also missing, I can continue because some of the options I see, there are much better players left out that can be called up from the domestic league. And come on, Barovero? Really? Dude has been flat out awful.

Argentina did have a bad history with "Argentina B team". The latest one was the Batista Argentina B team looked awful and lost in 2 friendlies in a row with players like Tino Costa, Fazio, Ansaldi etc, where some of them were actually some of our Mundo Albiceleste family wish list.

The most famous one was the Copa America 2004 team where we had a great looking Argentina B team featuring Argentina hottest domestic based striker, Martin Palermo and the hottest young playmaker Juan Roman Riquelme combined with some seniors like Roberto Ayala. Still remember Palermo 3 penalty miss in a game vs. Colombia?

We then lost in QF against the main Brazil team 1-2. I remember we got another PK in the last minute to equalize, Palermo did not take the PK, it was Roberto Ayala instead, but he missed it.

Brazil in contrast had huge success with their B team in Copa America 2004. They faced Bielsa's main Argentina team in the final and we had won it until the 90th minute thanks to Cesar Delgado goal, but Brazil equalized in the dying minute and won the PK shootout.

After that, the Brazilian B players became a real force for them.

That shows that good looking team on paper does not guarantee any success. Our B team as Roy posted might look great on paper, but should they really enter a main tournament, well I don't know.

Sometimes it takes more than great names to make a great team. There are other things too like chemistry for example. Maybe if our B team has trained together for a year or so, they might challenge almost any teams in the world.

Anyway if there is really a B team, the first name that I would want is Carlos Tevez. In constrast, if there is a player that I would want him to stay away from the A team, it is Carlos Tevez.

@maraDON

like sabella has his own favorites we have our favorite players too,,, and there is nothing wrong if someone wants a specific player in the squad. Its not like sabella will be pressured to pick a specific player because everyone here in mundo wants him to be in the squad and if that was the case then willy would been between the post for us a long long time ago!!

Carlos 'the curtain' Roa. He was outstanding at Mallorca and conceded few goals in the first round. The Bergkamp goal was unstoppable in 1998.

Batigol as a striker. All time top scorer and most hattricks at a WC. He even outshined Maradona in the 1994 WC against Greece.

Ok guys, as we all know the Diego is the king when it comes to best individual performance and the best goal scored by an Argentine at the WC. But my QUESTIONS is who is next in that hierarchy? Kempes, Batistuta, Ardilles, Valdano, Cannigia , Ortega, Aimar or Burruchaga? And who was Argentina's best goalie at the WC? Fillol, Pumpido, Goycochea, Isla?

the decision to play romero, no matter what, is in a way, tatic, the defense and midfield knows that all their mistakes can end up in goal, and forwards that they have to score...
in other words, sabella plans to win the world cup without needing a goalie....

Willy CABALLERO
Carlos TEVEZ
Javier PASTORE
Esteban CAMBIASSO
Martin DEMICHELIS

Substitutes:
Javier ZANETTI,
Mauro ICARDI.
Nicolas GAITAN,
Enzo PEREZ,
Erik LAMELA,

that's my humble opinion.

sabella is great... i admit i dont understand the romero decision, but that i aside, i support sabella...

i hope he takes lucas romero... he is only 20, but by far the best midfielder in argentina...he is a mascherano, fast, energetic, passes the ball good, great tackles...

this would be the double pivot masche/romero, which allows the 4 fantastico to play together and defense to remain good...

Soccer-World-Argentina's 'Fab Four' key to team's success.

By Rex Gowar

BUENOS AIRES, April 29 (Reuters) - Lionel Messi has won every major global title bar the World Cup and Argentina are hoping he will be able to tick that last remaining box with a side considered among the favourites for the title in their biggest rival's backyard.

If the "Fantastic Quartet" of Messi, Gonzalo Higuain, Sergio Aguero and Angel Di Maria are on song, Argentina can emerge victorious in Brazil to claim a third World Cup victory.

Despite boasting a wealth of riches in attack, however, Argentina are playing down their chances of overall victory and setting their sights primarily on ending a quarter-final jinx.

"It's very difficult to become world champions. We mustn't believe we're the best. In fact, we know we're not the best, but we are a (world) power," coach Alejandro Sabella told reporters recently.

"We can't get involved in triumphalism... We must remain emotionally balanced and the more so when we go out onto the pitch," he warned.

Balance is a key word for Sabella, who has built a harmonious squad, who get on well both on and off the pitch.

This might explain the absence of striker Carlos Tevez despite his Juventus form, an individualist that Sabella feels he cannot seamlessly introduce to the team.

Argentina have reached the last eight at three of the last four tournaments, going out to Germany in 2006 and 2010, and have not reached the semi-finals since Italy 1990 when they reached the final and were beaten by the Germans.

They were handed a good draw that should see them win Group F ahead of debutants Bosnia, Iran and Afrcian champions Nigeria and advance to a last-16 meeting with the second-placed team in Group E, made up of France, Switzerland, Ecuador and Honduras.

Diego Maradona took a squad of similar strength to South Africa four years ago and a fourth successive win in the second round over Mexico set up a showdown with Germany, but the former captain's coaching abilities were found wanting at that stage and Argentina were thumped 4-0.

Sabella has the tactical know-how to weather the mounting difficulties as the tournament progresses and breaking the quarter-final barrier could see his team go all the way to the final again.

FOUR-TIMES FINALISTS

On the four occasions Argentina have reached the last four, 1930, 1978, 1986 and 1990, they have also gone on to play in the final winning in 1978 at home and 1986 in Mexico and losing in 1930 to hosts Uruguay in the first World Cup final and then again 60 years later in Rome.

Argentina won the 16-match South American qualifying group, cementing first place during a brilliant 2012 when their first-choice side went unbeaten in nine matches, including friendlies, and Messi scored 12 goals including two hat-tricks.

Last year brought Sabella some problems, not least Messi's nagging hamstring injury, that he will have been glad to have got over that well before the tournament kicks off on June 12.

A virtual reserve side suffered a solitary defeat in the qualifiers to Uruguay in October with key midfielder Fernando Gago, who dictates the pace of Argentina's game and acts as a supply line for Messi, missing that and most of their other matches through injury.

Surprise is a key element for Argentina, who play their best football when Gago, Javier Mascherano and Di Maria play in midfield behind Messi, Higuain and Aguero.

The transition from defence to midfield is a weakness along with dealing with high balls into the penalty area despite tall centre backs in Federico Fernandez and Ezequiel Garay.

Sergio "Chiquito" (little one) Romero is a big, imposing goalkeeper but he often dallies on his line when balls are crossed into the box. Sabella has kept faith with him despite his lack of regular first team football at Monaco.

Serie A is in serious trouble at the moment..If Juventus don't win the Europa cup, Serie A will move down to 5th place in the UEFA rankings..To tell you the truth, Serie A reminds me a lot of the current Argentine league, they both look run down with terrible stadiums..Serie A need to remodel the entire league if its going to keep up with the rest of Europe on a marketable level..Germany have all modern stadiums, so too England, La Liga is improving every season with there stadiums, Atletic Bilbao build a new modern stadium that open this season, Valencia is also looking to move into there new stadium in a couple of season, Villarreal will likely moved in a new stadium too and the two big boys Real and Barca got the approval to remodel the Camp Nou and the Bernabeu. France will host the next Euros so the French federation is already building new stadiums and developing the old ones they already have. The teams in Serie A need to follow Juventus foot step a move into smaller size modern looking stadiums because they can't even get ticket sales in Serie A these days..Juventus was smart to move out of that horrible stadium they had before to a more smaller seating capacity stadium..The Italians need to get there league more marketable..I remember in the late 80's and early 90's how Serie A was the best in Europe, that time all the best players played in Italy, not the same anymore..One more thing, the football pitches in Italy are awful, even the parks I play at during the weekends have better football surface than most of the stadiums in Serie A.

Mundoceleste XI- List of all the players, that we all, over time and our infinite wisdom , have clamored for inclusion:

GK: Willy Cabellero
It has been believed that Willy is actually an extra-terrestrial life form. His glorious bald head alone has been credited with a stunning 95 misdirected shots this season, due to the reflection of light from that smooth, polished surface.

LB: Christian Ansaldi
One who plies his trade in the rough terrains of Ukraine and Russia by choice. If he can keep the mafia there in check, what are a couple of measly wingers?

CB: Fazio . The 7'-5" and still growing Fazio is Argentina's answer to all ariel threats, EVER. He doubles up as a Air Traffic Controller Tower on the weekends at Seville.

CB2: Gonzalo Rodriguez . Just in case people forgot him the first time, he purposely went off radar, and then returned to smashing form the 2nd time this season. Lord knows that we love our comeback men.

RB: Matias Rodriguez - Little is known about this young stud. But that's good enough for us to assume that he is probably the best RB ever . He plays in the Serie-A. Come on. Techically the best league EVER! Like, Hello?!

Def Mid: Claudio Yacob . The first and last word in holding midfielders. If the NT as a whole is Adam of Adam and Eve, Yacob is the fig leaf that would provide cover our impressive defensive package.

Mid: Dario Conca - Conca is a throwback Engache of unquestionable skills. Don't believe me? He went to China last year because he is the only one who could tread a through-ball even through the great wall. Once successful, he moved back to Brazil to acclimatize with the conditions for this world cup.

Winger/MF: Fede Catarbia : he's short. He is stocky. he is quick. He went to spain when he was young. He is Messi part 10.345. He threatens to represent Spain. That's all we need to know. Just blood him already, goddammit.

FW1 : Osvaldo - So what if he represented Italy? His damn car was painted Albiceleste for god's sake! I bet when he takes the field, he'd rip the italian jeresy off and expose a permanent body paint of the Adidas 2014 edition albiceleste NT jersey ! Ooooh, the PASSION! Take THAT Camoranesi!

FW 2: Tevez : FINALLY given a chance to play in a team without Messi and be the man. Tevez will shine and shine bright. Even if Tevez decides to go to Disneyland, even a cardboard cut-out of him on the field will show more passion, energy and goals than the real thing. D'uh!

FW 3: Icardi - The next big thing in strikers since sliced bread. Icardi, when selected, will score a goal in the final, and TAKE a selfie of him and Wanda who magically appears, AND post it on twitter and Instagram, AND then proceed to taunt Maxi Lopez .

Manager: Joscelo Pek-ione-ttino

Roy , I am sorry, but there really is NO hiding for you from this.

It is so apparent that you have a problem with any players with Estudiantes connection , or anyone else from the WCQ class of Sabella. Where are Brana, Desabeto, Somoza? Where is Guinazu?

Ok I can forgive you for omitting all of the names above. But just answer 1 question:

Where in heavens is FRANCO Di-MAN Di-MACHINE Santo?

Unless you accept that he has a strong chance of getting drafted in the final, original 23 man squad itself, you need to be held accountable for this injustice.

Roy told me once, privately, that he hated Salvio.

How could you NOT put in Eduardo Salvio?!?!?! This is absolutely preposterous Roy! Eduardo Salvio is better than the fake love-child that would have been born out of the reunion of Lamela AND Pastore! Eduardo Salvio is LOVE. Eduardo Salvio is Affection! Eduardo Salvio is a basic existential necessity for all of Mankind.

This is just totally a bias , it is so obvious! This is just a ploy from the editors of Mundo to bring in their favourite players! I will not stand quiet and accept this!

Sabella said all 26 that were called for Romania will be in the 30.

The rumored 4 players left to be picked are 1 goalkeeper, 1 defender, 1 midfielder and 1 forward, and are as follows:

GK: Barovero OR Caballero
DF: G. Rodriguez OR Musacchio
MF: Cambiasso OR Perez
FW: Icardi OR diSanto

@SulaV: Musacchio is missing from that starting 11. Roy intended t have in there but left him out in his post is all.

this team is strong enough to beat our Team A but they need one more player since every team starts with 11 players :D

i would have Mateo Musacchio insted of Demichelis and Facundo Roncaglia on the starting lineup and the defense looks rock solid with caballero between the posts!!
Yacob and Cambiasso being two very good defensive mids and lamela and pastore as their attacking mids . Carlito and icardi as their two men upfront...and plus that bench ... yes this team is good enough to beat any team in the world cup

I wouldn't put Enzo Perez on this list just yet, he still has a shot..Never write off a former Estudiantes player who has a chance to be crown Europa champion this season.

I always wonder why don't Argentina actually have a National Team B, and that team can actually play together against other national team during the FIFA days. And this team can be European based and play most of the games in Europe (to eliminate the potential issues with their clubs). This team could actually have a manager and staff team which give recommendations to the First team and in touch with them so they can always have a ready back ups instead of waiting for critical injuries (like the case with Gago)

Players in my opinion that should be given a chance are:

Willy
Fazio
Cambiasso
and and here it comes, Tevezzzzzz.

The others are either over the hill, too young and their time is coming or not good enough.

that's my humble opinion.
