Argentina against Brazil in China

Argentina will play against Brazil in China.

Argentina will play a match against Brazil on October 11 in China. The match is the Superclassico de las Americas and unlike previous years where the Cup was contested over two matches and consisted of only domestic players, this one will be over one match and anyone can be called.

@el principe
this game
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fDRpOhnqZj0

sanchez made the pass to lavezzi to score.

as far as a fit for messi, i agree with you there man,
messi and himself doesnt play well. ( i have my own thoughts on the reasons for that but wont bother with that here)

My point thought was simply that sanchez is a really good player and still gets alot of hate.

im no barca nor real fan , in liga i support valencia and to a lesser extent atletico.
------------------------------------------------------
as for villa he is that type if player that does linking extremely well and jump in just about any team and fit in with valuable contributions...these sort of player have high football IQ thats why they can do what they do.
some time u dont always need great players but great fit ins. and thas david villa
he did it at zaragoza , with aimar and company @ vcf, @ fcb and now at atletico.

anyways this is a arg national team board so let me not ramble on about external stuff.
-----------------------------------------------------
what i think is an issue building a team around a player such. is the player for some reason able to perform or gets injured what then?
wen a teams entire stengths and weaknesses are built on that one individual its a recipe for trouble.

the coach last wc for arg did this to an insane level , the current coach relies a little less but still too much in my opinion.
Ideally i'd have messi as a second striker with Higuain and hv a real creative midfielder play that position.
anyways if i was coach that been more of my philosphy in attacking. Im not and Sabella is so i'll hv to go along with it...again its a nice tactic he has esp for countering but to me just seems a bit too messi reliant. nonetheless hope it goes well.

one last thing as for the GK debate, dida from ac was quite a calamity and had some blooper moments , and he won everything on football...he was a great pk saver too.
there are some parralels to romero here (altho dida actually played more in the season)
but its not as bad as some make it out.
If he can hv 10 good games in a row we should be ok.

arg2014; " Players like Villa give lots of confidence to Messi and did boost his attacking engine" very true and this was the best combo as villa knows he is their to help messi and as we know villa also did really well himself and he is still doing the same role he did for barca for ath madrid and costa who is a main man at ath and villa his "robin".

the difference between messi with barcelona and messi with argentina is this:

when a barcelona team mate passes the ball to messi, pedro, neymar, iniesta, xavi etc. run up looking to get open or support messi.

when playing for argentina, they pass the ball to messi and then sit back and watch like they paid for a ticket.

that's the biggest difference, which they have to overcome.

work with and support messi, get open, because messi's passes are deadly accurate.

@el principe:

Alexis Sanchez is a star ? And when did he play with Juve to be an ex Juve ?

I really don't know why you think this kid is a star ? He might be a talent, just like Luis Muriel right now.

One more thing, Villa wasn't ever a low profile player, it is true he once played for Zaragoza, but the guy was a goal machine with Valencia, and played with the Spain national team since joining the team in 2005. He scored more than 100 goals in the Spanish league while playing with Valencia !!

i agree with Arg2014, the trio of Messi Pedro Villa was absolutely perfect for Messi's style, he could be the number 9 and primary play maker with pedro doing the hard work and Villa occupying space at the right time. As we all know, if you get the best out of Messi you get the best out of your team.

I too don't get the hate on Alexis Sanchez either but just watch him outshine some of these so call better players in Europe this summer in Brazil..Alexis will shine in Brazil..Outside of Argentina a love watching this current Chilean team play..And I am going to laugh at a lot of people here when Chile make a huge stride in Brazil..Chile has a history on the South American Continent, they made a semifinal..In Brazil South American teams will have the edge over all the other continents..I don't think Alexis have a problem playing with Messi or Messi with Alexis, its just that Alexis like Messi want to score goals..Before Messi hamstring injury he was playing great with Alexis, I can remember Alexis assisting Messi on several goals, during that period Barcelona was ahead of Real by like 11 points...During the Messi injury, Alexis started to play more freely and with a bit of confidence, once Messi came back, they lost the link up they had between each other..No need to blame Alexis for Messi goal scoring drought when barely kick a ball as of late...

Lots of talk on here in regards to messi chemistry with other strikers....nothing is better than messi and villa leathal attack with pedro as a trio. They printed history in CL finale against Man. U....Alexis who? Neymar who? Not even henry- messi combo was that scary as messi-villa that was crafted by the brain of Guardiola. Players like Villa give lots of confidence to Messi and did boost his attacking engine.

El principe So Villa was the main reason Messi peak during the season of 2011-2013? lol That's just joke to my ear friend..I enjoy Henry--Messi--Eto at Barcelona, just saying...If you ask Messi now who he love playing with, I can assure you that Ronaldinho, Eto, and Henry would all be ahead of David Villa..Going by your logic then, Messi would take David Villa over Ronaldinho? As I said on my other post, your numbers don't tell the correct story..Most of Messi goals are mainly because of Dani Alves when he doesn't go solo by himself..There was a statistic saying Alves had the most assist on goal to Messi, more than both Iniesta and Xavi combine..

Just let me know when Villa can come close to this Thiery Henry..Henry at the Bernabeu..Speed, power, skill and tricks..Henry got it all!!! He single handily destroyed Real Madrid that day!

Well I agree that Henry is a legend of Arsenal and France. He's better than Villa in terms of their importance for one club, but when it comes to being Messi teammates, no. Totally disagree, sorry. I strongly disagree if you said Messi played better with Henry than Villa.

Villa was just as good teammate as Pedro is today. The ONLY thing why Villa was finally out of Barca was:
1. Villa got injured for several months in the Club World Champions. After he recovered, he was struggling to get a start because Barca already got used to playing without him.

2. The change of coach to Tito Vilanova and the addition of Fabregas. For some reason Tito preferred Fabregas as the starting left forward.

3. Villa tried so hard last year to prove to the coaching stuff that he was still not finished. That's his only mistake. That's why last year, he broke the chemistry with Messi. That's why he's out.

Kidult, I am talking about the fact here. You can praise Henry as much as possible, but the fact says that if there is ever one player who play at the level like no one ever did before in 2-3 years, not even Maradona or Pele or Gerd Muller reached that level was Messi from 2011-2013. And one of his main teammates was David Villa.

I am not a fan of Villa, but I am just telling you the fact.

el principe I said Messi played better with Henry than Villa..You never see Messi having a bust up on the pitch like he did with Villa at the Camp Nou..Henry is always giving Messi praise up to this day...Henry was athletic and powerful (a true modern player) something Villa never had or will ever posses.

el principe- Henry is a BIGGER legend at Barcelona than Villa, end of story..They were even saying at the club that Tello was the next Henry...See I am done with this debate because its not necessary, I will take Henry over Villa any day..Another thing, Villa lack the skill assets that Henry posses..

el principe

Also Kidult. You said Messi scored more with Henry than with Villa? I am not sure about that:

Messi with Villa
2010-2011 55 games 53 goals
2011-2012 60 games 73 goals
2012-2013 50 games 60 goals

Plus 3 straight Ballon D'or + countless trophies.

Messi with Henry
2007-2008 40 games 16 goals
2008-2009 51 games 38 goals
2009-2010 53 games 47 goals

1 Ballon D'or

Messi/Barca with Villa in 3 years was almost too good to be true.

Also Kidult Henry-Eto'o-Messi was nothing honestly compared to Villa-Messi-Pedro.

In the first one, Messi was still a productive right forward. In the second one, Messi was the first player ever to create "false 9" and it became a trademark of world football today.

@Kidult

Henry and Messi did not really have chemistry. Don't you remember that? If Henry was that good, he wouldn't have been sold when he was not finished yet. Henry also did not win as many trophies as Villa at Barca.

Barca best year EVER with Pep was when the trio forward line was Villa-Messi-Pedro in 2011. They looked even better than Bayern today.

Check this out: http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/13576522

They won all possible trophies that year and made everything looked easy. Even they made MU look like a bunch of schoolboy in the final.

You can NOT say that the number of goals the two forwards score (Henry and Villa) determine how good they were. Alexis Sanchez is among the top 5 top scorer in la liga this season but he is a failure I tell you. Messi clearly does not like him. Barca look a lot weaker when relying on Alexis.

The fact that Villa "sacrificed" by not scoring much when playing with Messi was what made Barca a truly great team.

Even some say the 2011 Barca was the greatest team ever to play in the game.

Bt de latest buzz is barca is thinking of selling him n raising fund dis summer n datz y they r still holding de talks on his new improved contract... And is saying dat he will become de highest paid player to extract his best for rest of de season...Even after he expressing dat he wish to complete his career at barca the mngmnt gone for such a move wat he doing nw cant b criticised... @el principe - Really, Thiery Henry a failure and Villa was a good acquisitions? I am not really following you here, actually Messi played better with Henry than Villa..Henry played from 2007 - 2010 scoring 35 goals, and he was apart of the 6 - 2 thrashing that Barcelona handed Real Madrid at the Bernabeu..David Villa played from 2010 - 2013 scoring 33 goals..Henry won a UCL with Barcelona something he could not achieve with Arsenal, so how was he a failure? by the way Henry was not that young when he move to Barcelona, so he was never a long term project at the club, you notice Henry move straight to the MLS after leaving Barcelona..Messi-Eto-Henry is one of the greatest partnership in Barcelona history..I agree with everything else you said though..

They were in need of a proper physical #9, 2 central dfndrs n may b 1 or 2 central mid players for rotation as they r strong contenders of all major trophies... Bt they gone for neymar that too is a deal made 2 yrs b4... Actually they didnt go for any business dis summer... Did you guys notice that the history shows in the last 15 years or so, since the beginning of the tiki taka Barca football that every single "superstar/high profile" names forward have failed at Barca?

Barca is so unique that they will always find one player to build the team around and let others be the team players. Similar thing to what Argentina national team did to Maradona in WC 1986. If the teammates can't be the team players, then they won't last long in Barca.

That one "special" players were:
1. Rivaldo late 1990 to early 2000 era
position: forward left/second striker

2. Ronaldindo early 2000 to mid 2000
position: forward left

3. Lionel Messi late 2000 until now
position: forward right and then false 9

Those "high profile" forwards who have failed at Barca:
1. Thiery Henry - the legend of Arsenal
2. Zlatan Ibrahimovic - world hottest forward a few years ago
3. Alexis Sanchez - WC 2010 star and ex Juve star
4. Neymar - Brazil next big thing

The "low profile" forwards or/and la masia products have proven to be better acquisitions for Barca. The list are:
1. Samuel Eto'o - a talented young "unknown" forward from a lowly Mallorca.
2. David Villa - a good player from a small club, Real Zaragoza
3. Pedro - La masia
4. Ludovic Giuly - not a high profile ex Monaco player, a team player. 1 CL trophy.
5. Luis Figo - just a talented winger from Sporting Lisbon

and...
6. the young Lionel Messi - from Barca C team, ex teammate of Ronaldinho the superstar.

Based on that, Barca should stop buying high profile forwards. Let Neymar be the last one. I don't think Aguero to Barca is a good idea.

What they should do, though (if there is no transfer ban) is buy players that FIT their system. If it's not la masia players, then make sure the foreign players are team players who have high attribute of "team work" and secondly who have no ambition of being the world best player (unlike Alexis or Neymar). Their ambition should be: I want to be the world best teammate!

I am not saying the low profile players will always look good, those failed too like Afellay failed. Ex la masia like Bojan (Barca B legend) failed too, but the risk of the high profile players to fail is a lot greater.

I say the likes of Lamela is a good one for Barca. He's not selfish and he's coachable and he can play in Alexis position.

I compare Barcelona to San Antonio Spurs. They both are great passing team with the same philosophy, just like Barca, not all superstars can play at the Spurs. They need to FIT their system, that's the number one requirement.

So Lamela injury wasn't a season ending injury after all?

Tim Sherwood under pressure from Tottenham hierarchy to give Erik Lamela more playing time...

I had fun watching Romero in the French Cup that ended 3-1. Romero will be a major liability in Brazil as a starter goalie. I think all Argentine coaches are stubborn....tata, Sabella, Maradona, Pekerman, etc.....That's why they never last long.

''Bartomeu's plans: Sign a coach, sign 6-7 players (4 starters), talk to Messi about his future, meet with FIFA about transfer ban [sport]''

I hope Messi get the heck out of Barcelona, I don't like where this is going man...Lets win the world cup Messi and then you can join Man City with your best friend Kun Aguero..Mascherano to Napoli, Garay to City or Napoli, Federico Fernandez to Man City or stay at Napoli, Rojo to Liverpool, Biglia to Arsenal, Banega to Dortmund, Di Maria stay at Real Madrid only if Ancelloti remains as the coach, Lamela to Inter Milan, Lavezzi to Chelsea, Pastore to Arsenal, Iturbe to Liverpool or Roma, Gago to Villarreal or back to Valencia. I truly don't want to see either Fazio or Mussachio at Barcelona anymore, next thing you know they will be playing as midfielders, best possible moves are Fazio to United and Musacchio to Chelsea..These are all the moves I want to see after the world cup..Some may not be realistic especially the Messi to City move but Aguero could persuade Messi to join him at the club..

From FIFA's website:
http://www.fifa.com/worldcup/news/y=2014/m=4/news=sabella-brazil-have-always-been-number-one-2319373.html

FIFA: Let’s move on to a specific issue with the Argentina team right now, which has to do with the form the goalkeepers are in, with Sergio Romero, Mariano Andujar and Agustin Orion all seemingly off their game a little. Was it not a big risk to name them in the squad so early?
Sabella: The thing is I haven’t named them. What I said was that those three were “almost certain” to make the squad. And the situation hasn’t changed: they’re almost certain to be the three. They’re all good keepers and it’s a position where you have to give them a little bit more confidence. You need to have healthy competition in every position, though, and you can’t go from one extreme to the other. You have to show faith in the first-choice player without making him believe that he’s always going to play, because that can lead to a lack of competition within the squad.

Many Will disagree with me here , but am not sure what is running on messis mind.

But whatever the reason , when he is on the field he has to show his full commitment and dedication , thats how proffessional sportsman should behave. If he is intentionally playing bad for barca , well things wont be good for him for sure.

I would love if messi went to city! That to me would be amazing working with kun and zaba! Hopefully di ma can eventually go there! You know they have the money and with messi i would concider them a complete team. I highly doubt he will leave though.

"PSG are still interested"
apparently psg and man city are in trouble for their spending and are about to be hit with the ffp rules but then again its fifa and they will move the goals posts to suit their "friends"

Yeah hopefully Big Phil cough cough doesn't chicken out like he did the last time around.

I hope he leaves and goes to another club where he is appreciated and stick it to Barcelona every chance he gets. Hope they enjoy their Neymar

to far away from my brain to think about but then again that's as close as the yellow team will come to holding the w.c and im sure we can put it on display for them to look at it and messi being the nice guy he is might even let them touch it before it goes back onto messis trophy cabinet :)
