Angel DI MARIA scores and wins Copa del Rey

Angel DI MARIA scored in the final of the Copa del Rey for Real Madrid in their 2-1 win against Barcelona.

Angel DI MARIA scored for Real Madrid as they won the Copa del Rey. Lionel MESSI and Javier MASCHERANO both played for Barcelona. Lionel MESSI's recent trend of bad performances continued as he did nothing of note. The media in Catalunya has began turning against one of their beloved players.

The campagin against MESSI which seems to be going on this season doesn't seem to be ending. MESSI, according to sources, was promised reinforcement within the team and better wages. Unfortunately for Barcelona and their fans, this season has been disastrous. The NEYMAR fiasco, the president having to step down, injuries, players leaving and a possible ban. Lionel MESSI or not, all those things can play a factor in a player's mindset.

On a positive note, DI MARIA has elevated his game this season and even more since Cristiano has been injured. A fantastic player and a great performance by him.

If rojo is a really good defender i dont see why sabella doesnt have him as an lb that plays more defensively. We have enough firepower

Posted on 4/18/2014 at 9:11 PM

Alam, 442 still leaves the weak defence expose, and sacrifices one of the top four players argentina has to put a mid level defender....

if argentina is going to sacrifice one of the top defenders, shoulc be strenth the defence, play 3 5 2...

Rojo as a LWB .. That's a real joke !!

Posted on 4/18/2014 at 4:44 PM
Alam we need to use what we have. I think 433 should be used since we play counter attack futbol. Messi works best with Higuain, di maria, and kun on the pitch.

4132 OR 433 IS WAY RISKY FOR ARGENTINA. sabella must go for 442. this is the formation argentina needs to play to win dis world cup.

KidultHood, france will be the surprised team in this world cup, and hope we dont have to play them...
deschamps is the man responsible for france winning the world cup in 1998, 2000, then as a coach took monaco to the chamipons finals, and so on..

he is a true leader, and france have talent every where...i hope they are first in the group, and if they defeat germany, the final, hopefully, will be argentina france...

Sudhirfadi matuidi, pogba, cabaye, ribery and nasri might sound and look good on Paper because of their club resume but these guys have never played great for France..France struggled to qualify for the world cup, they were outplayed in Ukraine and should have lost by more than 2 goals, then FIFA allowed an offside goal to stand which Benzema scored that allowed them to qualify over Ukraine..France is way too inconsistent and you never no whats coming..France will have a tough time going through their group the same as it was in South Africa..Platini might think he gave them a favorably group but it wont be the case..

Posted on 4/18/2014 at 1:23 PM
Kid its gonna be romero. I agree with that line up

Posted on 4/18/2014 at 1:16 PM
If it is against france go for masce, gago, biglia and di maria with dropping one between kun and higuain coz compiting with matuidi, pogba, cabaye, ribery and nasri( similar to tevez case) is dangerous.

Argentina line up vs Bosnia and Iran 4-3-3

------Gago-----------Masche----------Di Maria

Argentina line up vs Nigeria

In the round of 16 if by God grace we make it,if we play Ecuador or Switzerland Sabella will still stick with his 4-3-3 formation but if its France he will go for the 3-5-2 formation or maybe 4-1-3-2 formation..With all this being said Sabella will give is attacking players as much opportunity during the group stage then tweak is lineup the further we progress in the tournament depending on the opponents.

maraDON, this is indeed my favortie formation

in an ideal world, kung or pipita would sit and a midfielder would play, but reality is that the four fantastico are elite world class and argentina today has no top world class midfielder...
so, secure the defense with five defenders, give the wing backs room to attack and join the four elites...

@MaraDON, agreed.. we are a counter attacking team now.. but we can also hold the ball which is nice. Parked bus teams are the only gripe. In which case its important Messi and co get us a lot of fouls near their box.. and our CB better score on headers.. FFernandez is our best chance at those.. he is our #9 in corners and free kicks.

LOL messi did nothing pof note he set up every single chance barca had over and over agian thru the game LOL @ the ignorence

he opened up the defense over and over again his holding back for the world cup just like ronaldino revaldo and ronaldo have done in the past

FACT rivaldo was on fire at the world cup after a poor sluggish season

messi is keeping away the chance of a ham string blow out he is not twisting and tuning but playing more in straight lines and passes

naymar is as fault and FABRECRAP per of useless idiots and obviously the club problems

messi will now have time to rest and go into a long consentration with the argentina camp PERFECT FOR US

sabella has many options and i think a 5-3-1-1 come 3-5-1-1 is one of the answers

it was a fantastic formation vs bosnia and with time in a camp would be a great formation for the world cup

absorb and counter attack will win the day

possession football has got us NOTHING

i mean, in the 352(532) ricky alvarez/banega/maxi in the midfield accompanying masche...

if you play the four fantasticos, then the midfielder next to masche has to be a defensive midfielder(biglia)... otherwise you have a team like maradona's agains germany(masche maxi midfield combination)...

but when you sit one of the fout fantasticos, i think it should be to protect the weak defense with an extra center back not to play mid level midfielder like sosa o agusto...

352 (532) does not have to be defensive, as long as the wingers are given freedom to attack... which sabella does...maradona in 86 and brasil 02 won with a 352...

Posted on 4/18/2014 at 7:23 AM
sabella should play with messi dimaria aguero and pipita together, or 532(352) with messi dimaria pipita/aguero and ricky alvarez/banega/maxi in the midfield...

no point in sitting one of the world class fowards to play average midfielder and still leave the defense expose...

lets face it, argentina will not win on the basis of the midfield... it will win because of the power of the offense, and by improving the defense (353) while still having three top forwards on the field...

From FIFA's website:

FIFA: Let’s move on to a specific issue with the Argentina team right now, which has to do with the form the goalkeepers are in, with Sergio Romero, Mariano Andujar and Agustin Orion all seemingly off their game a little. Was it not a big risk to name them in the squad so early?
Sabella: The thing is I haven’t named them. What I said was that those three were “almost certain” to make the squad. And the situation hasn’t changed: they’re almost certain to be the three. They’re all good keepers and it’s a position where you have to give them a little bit more confidence. You need to have healthy competition in every position, though, and you can’t go from one extreme to the other. You have to show faith in the first-choice player without making him believe that he’s always going to play, because that can lead to a lack of competition within the squad.

All Barca needed were a couple of center backs. The loss of Valdes was also a key factor.
I would say the management team really screwed up. Unfortunately, like in the corporate world, they get to point fingers and blame the next rung down. I hope Ta Ta can at least win the league and then move on with some dignity.

as they say "one day you are in and the next you are out"
its nasty being a manager at a big club.

The worm has turned, at least for the moment. It was just two weeks ago, or so, that Barca beat RM, RM lost again, and things looked rosier for Barca fans. A lot has changed, with injuries mounting up, Messi's issues, the corporate mess, and Tata likely to be sent packing.

It doesn't take long in football, or anything else, for the boo birds to come calling. Even Pep is starting to get grief at Bayern.

Its a dog eat dog world !

There's no place like home Leo, that is the nt, where you actually have a center forward, a wing like aguero. Barcelona has grown old in front of our eyes. Barca fans are spoiled and ignorant for ripping on messi. Without him they are looking at Europa league next year.
On this day in 2006, Lionel MESSI scored his first ever goal for the Argentina National Team. MESSI scored his first goal for Argentina on March 1, 2006 in a friendly match against Croatia. A match which ended 3-2 in Croatia's favor.
The media in Argentina has been reporting that the AFA has not paid Tata MARTINO or his coaching staff since October.
On this day in 2012, Lionel Messi scored his first ever hattrick for the Argentina National Team vs. Switzerland. February 29, 2012 marked the day Lionel MESSI scored his first hattrick for the National Team in a 3-1 win against Switzerland.
