Willy CABALLERO says best on form should play

Willy CABALLERO has come out and stated that the best players on form should play.

Willy CABALLAERO has said the best players on form should be with Argentina. Here's what he had to say:

"The coach is capable enough to decide. We know that the best players on form have to be there to try and win the Cup which is important for the country. I've heard the comments about my form, but I always dedicate myself to work and do what I do on the pitch. Last year and this year have been the best of my career. In my head, I'm always hoping for the National Team."

I think xtreme is right about Julker9. His name is also Jukernine and he substituted '9' for 'nine'. This is not unprecedent though. I've seen many people before doing the same. People often pick up this habit while writing with cell phones with key button. While writing two, to or for etc. some people believe a single long press of respective buttons can make life easier than pressing each of those respective buttons multiple times.

No I don't think so, I believe he did it becuase he thought it looks cool, different or something. It wasn't only the O that he was using, he's also using 2 as to, 4 as for, etc etc, it's just a common practice for him I guess.

@Julker0 off topic, but i'm quite interested as to why all of your o's are O's capitalized? Is that a problem with your keyboard? If so how is it that only the O is capitalized and not any other letters? You don't have to answer but i've been quite curious about that for a while. I don't really mind, just curious is all

Man City is a better team only slightly now that Aguero is out. If Aguero were healthy, I would pick Man City to go through. Now it's a toss up, unless Barcelona do not adjust at all and play like they did against Valencia...in which case Man City will go through anyways.

riquelme Inter Milan defeat a better Barcelona side back in 2010..For me Man City is a better team collectively at the moment than Barcelona..If Messi was playing for City you guys would all be saying City will win the tie..

Chelsea defeat Barcelona, although they park the bus. Bayern defeat Barcelona..You guys keep on telling yourself that City cant win over Barcelona..This as nothing to do with history..Porto, Inter Milan and Chelsea at the time when they all lift the UCL title, never won anything in their history..Barcelona had a great 2009 & 2011 season..Barcelona today is not even close to the Pep Guardiola team..

Man City will wipe the floor with Barcelona period..Well if Messi is in the mood to take on players and score a hat or 2 goals then they might have a chance, but how things stand now, Messi is the only player giving Barcelona hope..Take Messi out of both legs and you'll see how average Barcelona would become vs City..

@Julker9: I am not saying Barcelona is a clear favorite or City would go down without a contest. I am not saying anything like that. I just said that we can't yet predict if City are going to demolish Barca. Yes they can beat Barca and go through, but to say 'demolish' would be saying too much.

Of course after the Etihad leg, we can predict if City are going to demolish Barca, for which they need to completely outclass them in that match. Let's see if that really happens.

@riquelme, you can't compare pellergini's management on malaga to real madrid. If you didn't know already, no manager could do things they want in RM because of the involvement of the board and the president, they ban a lot of the manager's ideas of buying players they want and decisions they make. One of the main reason for mourinho departure from RM was because he didn't get the power to do whatever he wants in RM. with all that being said, I don't know who will come out on top between the clash of barca and city. For all I know, Pellergini is one of the best coach in the world right now, if not the best.

First 11: Valdes, Alves, Pique, Mascherano, Alba, Xavi, Busquets, Iniesta, Neymar, Pedro, Messi.
This has to be Barcelona's line-up. We will again start seeing Messi scoring his goals I believe.

Agree with riquelme.10. This is way too early to predict the outcome of that tie. It heavily depends on how Barca perform in Etihad. After the first leg is over, we can actually start predicting things.

Have some sense and logic when talking, were talking about barca here not Cardiff city so relax buddy.

Malaga is a rare case doesn't happen everyday, sometimes you dont need stacked stars team to win (Greece 2004) . Although I believe pellegrini is a good coach but saying he will destroy barca is a bit too harsh! Just how he destroyed barca with stacked Madrid? Lol

My point is man city are newcomers to champions league, having star players, good coach doesn't guarantee results vs more experienced elite European sides such as barca.

@el principe: EXACTLY. For people who try to convince me that Messi was good the other night and he tried his best and soon the goals will come etc etc, all I have to say I don't care a bit about how Messi plays for Barcelona. I don't even want him to play all these matches and get himself tired. All I care for is whether he is getting his goals in Barcelona. If not, is he trying too hard for them. If yes, that's a concern for me.

I know we are overreacting. We also overreacted in October when we felt things didn't look great for Messi. He was trying hard for his goals even then, minimum support from his colleagues and made to play in different positions across the field. We all know what happened!! HE HAD TO GO OUT WITH AN INJURY.

I really doubt how long will Messi continue to be happy just assisting the likes of Tello and Alexis Sanchez. That's why I mentioned Iniesta and Neymar. We need players who can assist Messi as well.

We have to understand Messi's situation as well. I can guarantee you one thing - if you give him an option of the WORLD CUP on one hand, and the pichichi, champions league golden boot, european player of the year, ballon do'r etc. everything for Cristiano Ronaldo on the other hand, He will take the World Cup no doubt but he wouldn't be 100% happy while doing that. He will want to keep staying the best in Europe no matter what, and that is quite natural. And for that, he needs GOALS.

Goals are all what people understand these days. Assists, teamplay, playmaking and all have already taken a backseat long back.

I think Barca has bigger problems than what we think. 3 last league matches where they should have collected 9 points easily against Valencia, Malaga, an Levante. They just got 4 points instead. In the past, teams like Valencia (at home) and Levante would have been destroyed quite easily. Even their 3-0 victory over Malaga was not that convincing to be honest.

The fans also do not support Barca like how they normally did. They can smell something fishy. The team has lost their determination to keep winning. It seems like there are a lot of intern and tactical problems.

Messi did have a goal and an assist, but I repeat, giving assists never make Messi happy at Barca. He likes to score.

As we know Messi invented false 9 to the world football. It is a position where you are a hybrid of a poacher and a playmaker. It is somewhat different from deep lying playmaker like Ale Del Piero or Tevez. Deep lying playmaker is more like playmaker forward. Martino still plays Messi as "false 9" as the previous coaches did, but I notice that Martino seems to play him more as "playmaker" than "poacher" in false 9. Under Guardiola or Vilanova, Messi's false 9 was like 70% poacher, 30% playmaker. With Martino Messi's false 9 is like 50% playmaker 50% poacher, Messi is unhappy with this.

That's to answer why Alexis or Pedro are more productive + Messi gets a lot of assists lately. The idea is draw Messi to the middle where he'll draw a lot of attentions and make Alexis and Pedro (or Tello) the finishers. The 3 assists of Messi in Copa Del Rey to Tello clearly answer this. Messi had 2 or 3 similar assists to Tello from the middle where most Levante defenders clearly focused on him. Tello was happy, Martino was happy, Messi was not.

That's one thing that Maradona tried with Messi in WC 2010. Well not exact same thing because Maradona did not even make Messi false 9, but just a pure playmaker just like himself in WC 2010, but Martino makes Messi 50% playmaker 50% poacher.

You know Messi is one of those guys who can be seen easily when unhappy. You can tell that by just watching his expression on TV. He's not like Ronaldinho who has the exact same smile while being the best player of the world or being a total flop.

@Deb: Messi has set his bar so high that no one admits that he has played his best if he has failed to score. But in reality he has tried everything possible to score unlike his fellow attackers. Would you not tell this playing good? What else could he have done? Those runs where he dribbled past 4 players out of 5 who where throwing their bodies to stop him. Messi after recovering from a severe injury, could have thought not to take those runs. But he did take those and very efficiently. When you dribble past one defender it becomes more difficult to dribble past the next. His shooting decision making has been a little below par lately but that is just due to lack of playing. He will overcome that problem in no time.

So, please stop blaming a player who played the best after a defeat, blame his colleagues who failed to do the same.

It's because Man City is better than Valencia. I'd like to think it was a fluke that Barcelona lost that match, but I don't think it was. They were unlucky, but they should not have performed that badly in the second half. I'm not as confident that Barcelona will beat Man City now as before, although I think they will pull it off.

What's up with all the barca bashing??? And that man city will eat barca alivee??? All of that because barca lost a game or because man city won few games with big score margin?? On paper man city stand no chance vs barca considering champion league experience, players quality, and chemistry. Man city is a new club and champions league isn't cardif city!!! If you gonna argue and say they beat bayern, dont waste your time we all know the situation of that game, bayern had already qualified and played with 2nd line.

Barca has the upper hand, unless man city pulls a surprise!

Deb yes Messi turn over a few ball today, which is practicable possible..By no means though Messi played bad..Its not easy to score when 4 - 5 players mark you around the 18 yard box..Messi shots were either block by the defenders or was save by the Valencia goalkeeper.Barcelona today was poor especially Busquet, the guy was turning over the ball in midfield like crazy, and one of is turnovers led to Alba second yellow card, which was a red card in the end..

I heard Tata had a conversation with Messi before the Valencia game, and it was said that it had nothing to do with the Valencia game..I can imagine Tata saying to Messi, ''you're the best, no need to try and prove anything to anyone, we need u also for the world cup in Brazil..''

Since Tata arrival at Barcelona he has now protect Messi since he came back from the 2 months lay off..Even Semeone said before the Atleti vs Barca game, that ''Argentina need Messi at the world cup''..Tata and Semeone like all Argentina fans know this world cup coming up is like the most important in the country history..Messi is going to be key if Argentina is going to lift the world cup this summer..

I agree with xtreme, Messi was fine today..Aguero, Higuain and Di Maria are all on top form..I just cant wait for the game in March, then we will see a more motivated Messi..Since 2012 Messi have been playing way better for Argentina than he does with Barcelona..I have seen Messi at his worst score hat tricks or 2 goals for Barcelona, no need to panic over this game..

@Deb, you are overreacting my friend, of course Messi will always want to score, but you are blowing it out of proportions. He doesn't show that he's very frustrated for not scoring but from what I see, he does try to score but not as crazy as he has been in the past because he clearly knows he needs to stay injury free for the world cup. Even a messi not going full throttle will still score a ton of goals, so really, I have no worries whatsoever about him not scoring as much as he has in the past. Hey, he scored 2 goals alone on his debut coming back, it's just a matter of time before he gets back on his scoring form even without going all out, it will come my friend, no ones in the world can stop Messi, not even a messi not trying as hard as he could.

Honest, Messi played very well today, and he could have scored on plenty of occasions, and obviously when you are not scoring, you try harder..especially someone as messi caliber but he's still playing cautiously without trying to go crazy and be injured again. He did force some long range shots, that's all i meant that he tried harder than usual. So, no worries dude, he'll be back in his scoring ways very soon. Any world class players can go on goals drought for a long period of time no matter what he does, and once he gets over the hump, it will keep on coming, it's just the way it is. Dont forget this is messi we are talking, honestly, if Messi cant get over the scoring drought, no one ever can. I remember how everyone was saying Ronaldo was done when the season starts, and then he just kept on scoring nonstop, the rest is history.

@xtreme: U find this like criticizing Messi? All we are saying is he is not his usual self. Which is true, as you yourself said 'tried harder than his usual self to score'. Everyone wants a fit Messi in Brazil. But that doesn't mean he will just be content with his assists for the remaining part of this season.
He will start pushing for goals at some point of time, that concerns me. Barca do not seem to have the quality at this point of time to be able to support Messi.

I am fine with Messi doing nothing for Barcelona and prepare himself for the world cup. But will he be happy with that? If he were, he wouldn't have played 7 matches in 3 weeks just after his return, including 3 useless CDR matches. He keeps playing them even when Barca lead the match by 4 or 5 goals. Clearly he is looking for his goals. He better get them, or else chances of over-exerting himself are really high. THAT'S MY CONCERN FRIEND.

Don't know why were there all the criticism about messi?? To me, Messi played a fabulous game and he probably tried harder than his usual self to score, but he was fantastic out there, just not his lucky because all of his shots were blocked. On the final build up play, that would of been one of the best goals ever had it gone in, and it was just inches wide and if not for diego's slight touch on the shot, it would of gone in. I have no worries whatsoever about messi to be honest, he still is brilliant like his usual self and it's barca's defense that are very worrying. Messi is playing cautious football now, there is no way in hell would messi risk injuries again when world cup is like a few months away. I could careless about barca winning anything as long as messi goes t the world cup being fit and in form and healthy, that's all that matters to us argentina fans, and messi fans. Brca attack has been fine, credit to valencia for playing a fabulous game defensively, they blocked all of barca's attacks....

For example, I was just going through the highlights posted by Outlaw earlier.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ujDgZAFK6Ps

This is just 9 mins. Within that he has lost his possession 6 times while dribbling (I can tell you the exact timestamps if U want). I am excluding the missed chance or the other occasions where he could have done much more than just taking wild shots at goal. That's why I am saying he wasn't at his best.

This isn't the time to panic though. Hope he comes back strong and more than him, the others need to deliver. Lionel Messi cannot help this Barcelona team single-handedly. He likes to score, he likes to stay up there right in front of the goal. That's where he is the best player in the world.

These assists might rescue Barca for the time being, but it will keep increasing the desperation of Lionel Messi to get back into the goals as soon as possible. Barcelona need to address that.

@Amlan: It is true that there were a lot of Valencia shirts in groups around Messi as soon as he would touhc the ball. To say he dribbled as good as he does would be a bit more I would say. He missed out on his dribbles at least 10 times today.

I agree that play with Iniesta was fantastic. But he didn't deserve the goal. You deserve a goal only when you manage to keep it between the posts, he couldn't. A confident and 100% Messi would score those goals with his eyes half-open.

You are right, Barcelona were horrible. They hardly showed enough desperation even while trailing 2-3 during the last quarter of the game. Messi looked somewhat comfortable only after Iniesta came in. These Alexis and Tello guys are simply not good enough to do him any favour when he needs one.

Messi played well, in fact better than the previous matches after recovering from injury. But Pedro, Fabregas, Busquets, Pique played so bad today which is the reason of their defeat. Messi's dribbling was really good today. Valencia appointed 3-5 players to stop him. But he managed to dribble past most of them. It was his bad luck that he could not score after those amazing runs. That one two with Iniesta deserved to be his goal. I think overall as a team I have not seen Barcelona played that bad for a long time as they did today. They deserved this result. Hope they will bring some changes to their approach after this result.

It was suggested in a disscussion i had that the mood in Barca is very somber as a result of the death of Luis Aragones.
I am not saying this is the cause but it is very difficult and taxing mentally to perform in situations like that.
That is for the team in general...as for Messi he was affected as a result. As an argentina fan i hope Messi takes care of himself.

What happened with Messi today? I only recently started watching Barcelona matches, but have watched every Argentina match since 2010, and I have very rarely seen him make a mistake. He was not his usual self, weaving around players with ease and never losing the ball through fault of his own.

Messi is not looking great. He is not good with his dribbles, he is not accelerating enough when the ball is in his possession, he is missing chances he would have converted with ease a season back. On top of that, he is made to come down deep and create chances, the passes he is receiving are not that decisive either and he is badly missing the old Xavi, Alves and Iniesta on the field. Tello and Sanchez are simply not clinical enough to make a few good assists. Fabregas is good on a day and disappointing the next day. This isn't helping him a bit.

One might argue he is coming back from an injury and that might be the reason he is not at his best yet. But I would say Barcelona hasn't helped him on that as well. 7 matches in 24 days already, 3 of them are Copa Del Rey matches that could have been avoided. Or at least they could have substituted him in a few of them. There were no tight encounters at all. Besides they didn't look for anyone in the winter window, expecting Leo to play in deep-lying positions all the time and still claim to have managed him well. This is crap.

You know Leo is not well when he misses his chances without giving his 100%. That's how I always try to understand his situation. From what I see now, I seriously get a feeling that Lionel Messi would soon pick an injury again. I am praying to God that I am wrong this time, because we don't have much time left now. I am also praying that two players quickly come back to form and fitness, Andres Iniesta and Neymar. Only these two men have the quality and capabilities to make life simple for Messi. They need to be back. As quickly as possible.

Hope God is listening!!

arg2014 I cant blame Tata for Barcelona problem..As a team you have to always improve your product and that's what Barcelona failed to do in the last 2 transfer windows..Look at Pelegrini he went to a strong City side but he himself brought in like 4 - 5 new players to boost the club even more. Barcelona will end up like Man United if they're not careful.

Cant blame Tata for Pique poor marking (second shortest player in La Liga out jumping one of the tallest players in world football, Pique is a poor defender and it was Barcelona possession game that save is skin over the last 4 - 5 season)

Pique - overrated

Alba - overrated.. Adriano should start over this guy any day.

Puyol - too old

Xavi - needs to play a more modest role, he slows down every counter attack play whenever he touch the ball.

Mascherano - need to play in the DM position

Fabregas - Was never a fan of the guy, I just don't get the hype that surround him..

Busquet - Was poor in today's game, he made a lot of stupid passes in midfield, giving away the ball.

Barca is in big big trouble now. They have no passion. It is like they don't care if they lost. They played with no sense of emergency. Messi again looked bad. I think soon we'll see Martino in jeopardy. Back in Vilanova or Guardiola, Messi averaged 5-7 shots on goal/game. With Martino, he averages what? I think he averages more shots/goal with Sabella's Argentina now.

Alexis scored again and that's never good for Messi although it was Messi giving the assist.

I agree with Kidult. Soon, some of the players won't be able to maintain their form. Puyol is way below form already. Xavi is clearly getting worse. Dani Alves plays his worst football since joining Barca. Iniesta just gets back from injury. The new stars, Fabregas and Alexis ruin the chemistry because they are supposed to be the "assistants" not "superstars". If they don't improve, City would beat them even without Aguero.

It will be hard for Barca to find the replacements for Xavi especially. Fabregas isn't the same type of player. It must be from la masia or at least from Spain, that's for sure.

@Kenneth Yea, that was me..But I mostly comment on Goal.com when I see the Messi haters coming out in full force..But ''everywhere,'' not really..Bleacher is one of the worse place..

At first I only had an account with ESPN soccernet, then they change over to Facebook for there comment section which turn me off. Then I found Mundo, the home of Argentina football. :D

it's not just the need for defenders, Russell's corruption, it was Tata who ruined Barca. A decent coach would never take the challenge of coaching a big club as Barca without signing at least 2 defenders. Tata will be out by the end of season, and Russell got the money.

Barca believe the rest of the teams in Europe are going to wait on them for there so call La Masia players to develop? Barcelona have now wasted 3 transfer windows in a row..

A.. Barcelona wasted an entire transfer window trying to sign Thiago Silva, which turn out to be a waste of time..

B. Barcelona wasting time trying to sign overrated David Luiz, when they could have sign other alternatives. i.e Garay, Santiago vergini, Marquinhos, Mangala etc. All these would have been possible signings but for some reason Barcelona had a love fest with David Luiz and Thiago Silva.

C. Rosell blocking Tata Martino pick to bring Santiago Vergini to the Camp Nou, at least he would be a viable option..

D. Barcelona failing to buy an out an out #9, someone who can come up with the goods during a difficult game..Klose, Milito, Gomez, Scocco etc..Klose and Milito though would be just to fill the gap short term which would have help them in a game like this.. I repeat Barcelona is very poor on set piece whether its defensively or offensively..

E. Barcelona need to sign a box to box midfield player and another CAM..

F. Tello, Sergi, Dongu, Song all need to go and be replace by better options.(Don't get me wrong, I like Song but Barcelona style of play don't suit him, he would be better off at another club, especially with the world cup coming up. A move now will be impossible for him with the window just recently closed.

G. Xavi is where counter attacking football goes to die..lol Xavi is one of the greats no doubt, but its time Barcelona move beyond Xavi.. He can play a role like Giggs did for Man United..

H. Fabregas never show up against the teams that matter, he always perform well against the minnows but is always nowhere to be found in BIG games.

I. City is going to wipe the floor with Barcelona at the Etihad stadium..

J. Barcelona are not out of the title race but they have made it tougher for themselves to retain their title..

Spain is not going to win the world cup with Pique, Arbeola, Alba and Ramos in defense. Argentina or Brazil will demolish Spain in South America..its not even close right now, the only thing having Spain has contender is there defending champs status...

@argentuban-''ad Romero's performances actually been the difference maker in the qualifiers, I would agree you.''

I don't think its fair to say that, Romero was the difference maker in countless qualifiers away from home..Romero was crucial in the away games against Colombia, Peru and Bolivia..By far those were Argentina most important games during qualifying after we had a slow start.

@kidulthood: It depends on how you view the team. You view Romero as having been an integral part of the team and having earned his spot by seniority. Had Romero's performances actually been the difference maker in the qualifiers, I would agree you. He wasn't, in my view. Since he wasn't, I don't think he deserves a spot by default, and it needs to be a "what have you done for me lately" type test.. I would say that neither view really has more merit than the other, especially since neither view by those of us here will impact AFA or Sabella in any way..

What we all seem to agree on is that Willy needs to be our keeper. Incidentally, Orion is better than Romero and Andujar as well. Yet he is 3rd string. It is frustrating for all of us.

I don't. No one here does. Sabella is a prideful coach and he is Argentinean. I doubt he will call up Caballero. Here is hoping for miracles......

BULL!!! Caballero should shut his mouth, and then maybe a magic would happened that is Sabella would call him up? WHAT A FUCKING CRAP.
it's about time Willy said this and knock Sabella on his forehead. That old knuckle should simply call up Willy, play him full time in the next friendly match, drop Romero, grab 2 more new goalies for the team, and everything else should be fine.
Are you guys still making some jokes??? Still want Romero as our number 1 goalie??? What shapes Romero in now that he is capable of being Argentina number 1 goal keeper???? Don't repeat the same old bullshit about Romero past experiences in the NT team over and over again, I'm sick of it all.

@riquelme.10: If we resolve our keeper issues and at least adjust tactics to account for the fact that Rojo is not a fullback we have a very good chance at winning.

@flaco: Romero barely plays (only in French Cup really), and he hasn't played all that great when he has. Sure, he was good last French Cup match, but it was a division three or four opponent in France, not exactly high caliber competition. Previous French Cup match he stunk up the pitch. Subasic is the keeper for Monaco. He isn't getting regular playing time, and he isn't getting any better as a result.

Willy, Orion, and Barovero are the best 3 goalkeepers eligible to wear the albiceleste of Argentina. The fact that two of them are not on the team to protect two guys warming the benches is criminal.

When i watch WILLY play. I see a keeper that takes charge of the defence . He talks to his defenders. If they make mistakes he yells at them , place them in the positions they need to be, and clap his hands to alert them. I Watched him grabbed one of his defenders at the Malaga vs Barca game last week and put him in his positions. I believe if it wasnt for his Goalkeeping magic and his commanding characters and attributes Malaga would not be in their position right now.

I think Cabellero express his desire to play for Argentina. Whether he was misquoted or not, he spoke the thruth. I havent heard any story in spain about him being a bad team, a loud mouth or a trouble maker. I believe if there was such things i would have heard it already. Because i follow the spanish league closely. I think his speak his mind. And his definately right about it. he definately deserves a call up. Because our number keeper is warming benches in France. And Sabella should keep his words about evaluating things. He said he was going to monitor Romero progress starting January to see if he is getting any playing time.

El Payaso I don't see much needed to be done for the CB and midfield position at this point..The goal keeper position is the most important at the moment..As I always said, Basanta is in..I really like Basanta, I would trust that guy to mark Neymar than anybody else on our team..South American base players are crucial to our world cup success..Bad idea to have an all base European team at the world cup..That's the reason Basanta haven't been drop by Sabella because he's a key part of the project. Playing in a flashy league in Europe wont guarantee us the world cup..Its good to have unknown players in our squad..To tell you the truth, at this point I trust Rojo and Basanta than Insua, Orban, Santiago Garcia and Ansaldi (Clemete is out of the picture).

Caballero, Cambiasso and another CB pick between Musacchio, Fazio and Otamendi will complete our squad..The world cup is just few months away, there is no time to select unproven players for an important position on the team..Just look what happen to Facundo Roncaglia and Orban in the Ecuador game...There is no time to experiment with the LB position..Rojo is solid now, Basanta have proven himself vs Italy etc. You guys might not like Basanta because he isn't flashy but he'll get the job done..

Lets say;

Marcelo vs Orban/Ansaldi (both would be done)

Neymar vs Ansaldi/Orban (Neymar wins against both every time)

Basanta has proved himself in the local games against Neymar, cant say the same for the other guys..

Sabella should add Caballero, Musacchio, Cambiasso and either Alvarez or Lamela to the final 23..No need for Insua, Ansaldi, Orban, Santiago Garcia, and Clemente, we good..

I dont like that Caballero comment too much. It might actually knock off his chances. It also depends on the questions asked and the translation as well bt saying

Righto. Caballero might do himself a favor by muting a bit. I have suspected for a long time that Sabella must feel there is a reason not to include Caballero, despite his performances between the sticks. No way to know that for sure, but I don't think Caballero helps himself with the frequent lobbying.

All that said, unless Caballero is a real troublemaker I hope he gets a shot.

The problem is Sabella never had any history of dropping players when they played good in their previous matches. Romero was good against Ecuador and Bosnia, his last 2 games. Although he doesn't play for his club, but Sabella just doesn't drop nor bench players who played good.

Montillo was trusted up until he played bad. That's the example.

That's what I meant, Kenneth. When you go to the media and say words like 'the best players on form have to be there', the immediate implications are it means the coach does not understand that or has, at least, failed to exercise that in some cases yet!! No coach would take these things to the best spirit am afraid.
Last time when Caballero recorded his performances against Real Madrid, sent the tapes to Sabella and then declared that to the media, Sabella did nothing. He just waited for a day or two and then posted something like 'We are estimating everyone Willy' on Caballero's twitter page. This kind of indirect communications never helps anybody.

I wonder If Sabella has waited so long and may not even call him because of Caballero's statements directly to the media? What i'm saying is this, Sabella a low key guy doesn't like to rifle up anything with the media. Caballero has been saying for a while that he deserves to be in the N/T. If Demichelli's starts playing well for Man City, or Roman for Boca or Tevez for Juve and declares it to the media should they get a call up as well?

Obviously the circumstances are different here as we are in need of a goal keeper. Just trying to see why it's taking Sabella so long

Just hope all this media campaigning doesn't affect Sabella in the wrong way. I always feel things are much better when you talk one-on-one. Sending messages through people... I am not sure. He deserves a spot though, no denying that!! But everybody has an ego, and Sabella is no exception. One should try to be as sensitive as possible.
