We will all hear from Maradona very soon about Pele's bullshit award.

It took for Messi to be injured and out for more than two months.
and
For that idiot Blatter to extend the voting as if its his own to do what he wants.

Christina wouldn't have won a damn thing had these two things didn't happen.

Focusing on the world cup is the ONLY thing that matters now, not the EPL, or laliga or UEFA. We need to show the whole world whose the best and what Argentina can do and will do.

Just hoping that in the year of 2050 Wikipedia and other sites will say "Messi is the best player ever who won more than 10 Ballon D'Or awards and only missed in 2013 due to injury and extension of voting deadline by FIFA. He regained it in 2014 by lifting the WC for Argentina."

Oh and for the honorary ballon d'or award, how can they say Pele is the greatest ever. Even if it's honorary, they should open a voting from journalists and players just like the actual ballon d'or.

Semeone for the league title... Barcelona for the UCL and CDR titles..That would be wonderful for both Semeone and Tata..I know Tata will protect Messi before the world cup, so I'm not worried..Pep and Tito would have started Messi Saturday but Tata had the courage to rest Messi for the first half of the Atleti game, which says a lot for the upcoming world cup..

@kidult- But you never can say what pele will say the next day..Haha.

except pele,, all the other brazilians do understand quality.. i like the fact that brazilian ronaldo once said that "if i had to choose a foreign player to play for brazil then i would undoubtedly choose messi.. even though maradona is my close friend".. Rivaldo already declared messi as the greatest of all time.. and ronaldinho is a life-long friend of messi.. neymar idolizes messi everyday..

I can only hope that Pele doesn't switch his words again..

@KidultHood: if Atletico exit UCL early, expect them to focus even more on La Liga, however if they are in the running for UCL and go to QF, then I would say they would lose some Liga points....it's hard to focus on all three competitions for a club that is junior to UCL competition in recent years like Atletico.....Barcelona is the only club now that has that mindset to focus on all three competition since all players have been playing together for years and went through same process on and on....R.Mardid don't have barca's mentality to focus on all 3 galas....February will be a crucial month for all 3 clubs when lots will be going on. Ronaldo's perfect form will come to end very soon, and no more hat tricks except his trade mark of Penalties "aka Penaldo". Messi and Neymar will do some magic in the coming months.

@Thinker i get what your saying, but at least Pele come out in public and have to acknowledge that Messi is the best player in the world..So Messi end up having the last laugh on Pele not the other way around. It was just pure ignorance of Pele when he said ''Neymar was better than Messi.''

@arg2014yea Neymar need to step up now and full fill his price tag..Sanchez can step up in big games, don't be surprise if Sanchez is one of the top goal scorer at the 2014 world cup..Pedro and Fabregas only shines against small teams most of the times..

I wasn't writing off Real Madrid, I was just saying La Liga will come down to wire because of the closeness of the league..Real have to play Atleti at the Calderon and Barcelona will face them at the Camp Nou on the final day..But out of the three teams Atleti is the more balance team with Barcelona second and Real third..

@kidulthood-- Pele has an epic disease.. He says one thing in the morning and then he will say the complete opposite in the evening..Was it not Pele who said Neymar was the greatest player in 2011??? Was it not Pele who insulted messi by saying "He can only talk to me when he wins 3 WCs and scores 1000 goals"??? and now he understand what a player messi is so he says some nice things.. but it never covers up the insults he made towards messi 2 years ago...

ALL the other brazilians have always said messi is the greatest of this generation... they have been saying it since 2009... Pele is the only one who always said the opposite until recently.. apparently,, romario can't even endure the sight of pele..

How can you blame maradona??? Cristiano did have a great 2013 and maradona only said that..but then afterwards he said that no one should blame messi if argentina doesn't win the WC.. remember it was maradona who defended messi from storms of criticisms after argentina lost to germany in the WC.. the one thing you can trust about maradona is his honest words.. No matter how wild he is,, He is true to his heart and not a two-faced hypocrite like Pele.. Maradona never for once criticized messi,, He is the very first person to label messi as his rightful successor..

@KidultHood, don't underestimate R.Madrid too, they gained confidence now after the gap is narrowed down to just 3 points. Their UCL perfect run will add more ambition to win La Liga too.....but I hope that Neymar takes a part of all that and he won't leave Messi in the savior seat as always. I'm not counting on Pedro or Alexis who can only score against weak teams, but in big games....they disappear.

arg2014 I agree seems like La Liga will go down to the wire..And it can all come down to Barcelona last game on the final day of the league, and guess who they play? The tough physical team Atletic Madrid, which is not a good thing for Messi to play a game of such magnitude before the world cup and then their are other tournaments like UCL & CDR..

Tata will play him cautiously,, he knows how important messi is for argentina.. messi himself will be cautious to avoid any injuries.. if barca progresses in the CL,, then messi will eventually have to play for full 90 mins but that will be no danger.. messi wouldn't be that stupid to throw his body on the line for a trophy that he has won 3 times.. but he will indeed give his soul for the WC..

Ronaldo was asked which team does he want his nation to face in the WC finale, and he replied he wishes the clash between Brazil and Germany....that tells me he knows that Germany won't be as a strong rival as Argentina to his nation. Smart answer, but he can't escape Argentina if our boys are on gear.

Thinker I have to disagree, all the more prominent Brazilian players said Messi was the best in the world, whether or not all of them think he deserves this year BDOR is a different story..Ronaldo9, Rivaldo, Cafu, Thiago, Alves etc all said Messi was the best in the world...There was also a poll conducted in Brazil and only Neymar was more popular than Messi in Brazil..

Pele made some interesting remarks about Messi & his rivals..

Pele said;

''Ronaldo and Zlatan are similar in style''

'' Ribery is a classic winger''

But Messi, ''no one plays like him.''

I know Brazil history with Argentina is quiet fierce but a lot of their prominent players have acknowledge Messi is the best..

Maradona himself came out and said that Ronaldo should win the 2013 BDOR, why no one here attacking Maradona for his recent comments?

The only thing that bothers me now is that La Liga race became wide open and that means Messi won't get rested in the final weeks of May and expect him playing La Liga games till the end. I also think that Barca has the form now to beat some major clubs in the CL, so that was another big tournament waiting for Messi to help his club. I just hope that he doesn't play all 90 min from now on.

well, we fans should not be too upset about this meaningless award.. messi is already the greatest player of this generation with or without these awards.. Brazilian ronaldo said that winning the ballon d'or right before the WC is always a bad omen,, he experienced it in the 98 WC.. and then he made revenge in 2002.. messi experienced disaster in 2010,,he will taste sweet revenge this year..

Politics has always been there in FIFA... remember the player of the century farce??? Maradona won the poll by garnering 53.6% votes(over 250 million) while pele got only 18%(75 million).. maradona was the legitimate winner but then again,, FIFA can't stand the sight of maradona winning their award,, can they??? so they decide to create a "poll" of their own,, where all the 80-year olds voted for pele and so FIFA decides to give dual award to maradona and pele.. and from then onwards,, maradona always hated these god forsaken pigs while pele was sleeping with these bastards..

But God has indeed sent a clear signal to messi.. 2014 is the year where he will prove his true greatness.. i am now just the imagining the face of pele when messi wins the WC... He will not believe his own eyes..

Sepp Blatter have tarnish the Ballon d'Or award..I have no problem with Ronaldo winning just how it happen..This whole thing have become way too political, and trust me, politics is too dirty and should never be in football. Although I'm not a fan of Rosell, he said it best by saying '' Politics is the only reason stopping Messi from winning the 2013 BDOR''

From the minute Blatter said he like Messi better, that's when the campaigning begun and the media splash on the part of Ronaldo and his Madrid counter parts, then that led to the extension of the voting period..Messi had the BDOR in the bag when he scored a hat tricks against Valencia and Ajax plus carrying his NT to the world cup with 2 games to spear but unfortunately Messi got injured so now the people against Messi used it has a scheme on why not to give Messi the award..By the way the FIFA world player XI is also injustice to Bayern Munich successful winning team..Neuer and Lahm were the only Bayern players who could make the list? That's just wrong..Dani Alves, Xavi and Ramos should not have been on this list..When Barcelona won everything it was dominated by Spanish players, almost all Barcelona starting XI was voted for the FIFA world XI even Mascherano was considered to be apart of the world XI back then..

God is good and life goes on for Messi..

the joke of the night was when that CLOWN pele won the so called "Honorary" Ballon D'or.. really??? FIFA's love affair with pele started way back and to this day,, they are keeping their favorite poster boy very happy.. Pele won so much of these hilarious FIFA awards that it actually outweighs the trophies he won in his playing days.. But pele feels no shame,, not even when his own countryman romario says pele is an imbecile...

Well we know Messi doesn't care about award shows, rewarding, talking to media....he likes winning, scoring goals and his talk is through his feet on the pitch. I'm certain, he doesn't give a damn thing about every award show, but the thing was the cheating process of this year. I'm fair person, and I hate to see fraudulent act like that from FIFA as they imposed Ronaldo's winning. This is wrong, and I think Messi shouldn't have shown up as a message to what happened. We-fans- deserve that response from him.

Ronaldo wins his second ballon d;or...you know what,, it is a good omen... players who has won the ballon d'or right before the WC--his nation has never won the WC.. like ronaldo won the ballon d'or right before the 98 WC and then six months later,, brazil got mauled in the final.. messi came into the 2010 WC as the greatest in the world,, argentina came home early...

cristiano can now sleep with that award,, portugal will never even reach the semifinals... indeed,, Almighty God has cleared the path even more for argentina... 2014 IS our year...

Thank god the BDOR distractions are out of the way. Congrats to CR7, Messi is still the best player any day and now he can go to Brazil without BDOR media scrutiny. For me this a blessing in disguise. Now my other wish are that the media dares to question La Pulga's ability before the WC coz he plays best when odds are place before him.

I found it strange how Ronaldo's fans claim that although he didn't win anything with his club or NT, but he was able to lead Portugal to the world cup. Well, winning in the second round (not automatic qualification) and against all other "the least strong teams" is not an achievement. It is still a big deal of course for the entire team and coach to get qualified and save embarrassment, however this can't be rewarded or written as an individual achievement for the attacking department in particular. If Ronaldo was a beast, he could've get his NT qualified automatically since he had a solid defense and goalkeeping that he didn't need to worry about. Lack of scoring and attacking ability was the reason why Portugal failed to qualify automatically. Why Best player is granted just for club level achievement especially if that player is playing in Europe? A valid question needs to be discussed with FIFA clowns who are masters in swaying the votes and change deadlines to accommodate special requests/concerns. This year though, even club level was not taken into consideration since Ronaldo won zero trophy. So what's the criteria now? Pathetic show, and I hoped that Messi didn't show up after reopening the votes scandals were all over the planet. He really should've stayed in BCN training with his teammates and screw this make up award show.

Well Messi won't be responsible on winning the world cup, it's not up to him alone. It has to be a complete project, management, assistants, teammates, bench players, preparation scheme, fans, and of course luck above all. Messi is not the only factor that we rely on in order to win world cup. Even if Messi doesn't win the world cup, he's still the best player regardless. No any previous player has achieved same stats in his age.

OK and now CR win the ballon d'or. I'm still convinced FIFA extended the voting period for his sake to make the competition more interesting. Well, I guess it's difficult to win five times in a row but I'm hoping Messi will win his 5th next year with WC in his hands. I'm sympathized with Ribbry though, coz this might be his last chance except if France somehow win WC.

I can't believe Fifa, again, awarded Pele some of award that's not based on voting whatsoever but based on their own preference!!! What is FIFA BALLON D’OR PRIX D’HONNEUR actually??? Will they award it again to another player next year or it is really a special award just for Pele while it is very debatable if he is really leaps out above all others. Well maybe he will since Fifa keeps creating some history for him. Also his good nature boundless?? It seems like Pele is the best player in history according to Fifa and I really disagree.

Well, I just feel it's unjust that Diego is always excluded from Fifa..
