Argentina to play farewell match in La Plata

Argentina will play a match in La Plata.

Argentina's farewell match before the World Cup will be played in La Plata and not at the Monumental. Secretary of sports, Alejandro RODRIGUEZ, has said that Argentina's farewell match will be played at the Unico de La Plata stadium. He's also stated that the opponent is not yet known.

"We're going to host the farewell match of the National Team for the World Cup at the Unico stadium. We still don't have an opponent, but that's the least important thing."

The farewell match tends to be played at the Monumental as was the case in the previous World Cup's. For now, it seems like the match against Slovenia will be played at the Monumental. The match against Cameroon has been called off and was replaced by Trinidad and Tobago. However, with the news of this match, it remains to be seen if the match against Trinidad and Tobago will be played.

@elprincipe Very true! Tevez is DONE in NT.

If Messi, Kun and Hig (+ Maria and Gago in the help) is in top form this june. We have an unstoppable killing machine in forward.
Messi comeback is such an amazing feeling.
I'll wait for Kun to comeback and see what can he turning into.
Hig is in a good spirit in Napoli.

Yep farewell match is against Slovenia in Buenos Aires. Playing Cameroon would have been stupid, to say the least.

@2014worldcupchampions

@kidulthood said he suggested that Argentina play either Jamaica or Trinidad in an earlier post, and he got laughed at. Right?

But in reality it was You (your username) that had brought that up under the "Argentina to play Cameroon" post. That's all I was saying... Nothing bad lol

I have one question. The UCL Final is on 24th May and the World Cup starts on 12th June. So this is like 18 days in between. Whereas I have always heard (even on this forum) that our players are going to train together for something like 30 to 40 days before the tournament. Now it seems we aren't getting HALF of that time together!!

Are we expecting players to join the camp one by one as and when their leagues end and the final set of them to come in after the UCL final (based on who are participating)? Or is it really going to be just 2 weeks together with 3 matches to play in between?? If that's really the case, I don't think we can even think of replacing Romero with anyone else. No matter how great the new stopper is, it would be too much to ask of him to gel with anyone and everyone in just 2 weeks time!!

Tevez is a super high risk. What for? I mean we don't need any help in attack as ours is the best in the world without doubt. Our subs of Palacio, Lavezzi, and Lamela are good enough. So Why would we risk the team chemistry by calling Tevez?

Please he's done. Even if he scores more than Messi, CR7, Suarez, Costa, or Aguero this season, he is still done with us. We need no help in attack. Period.

Sabella will not call Tevez although for 1 friendly games; it will ruin the team spirit and harmony; maybe he will use his subs to cover the games although winning is important for moral boost before the D-Day.

well i wish that too ,
but i think calling these much defenders wont make any sense because it is just a single match ,
i hope orban will get one more chance to prove his caliber and mussachio/gonzalo should be start in CB.

and cambiasso in the sub too , and for GK i wish orion/andujar should give a chance that willy

Sabella should call up these players for the Romania friendly..

Musacchio

Caballero

Orban

Cambiasso

Gonzalo

Tevez (I know the saying that Tevez inclusion will upset the team spirit but its a call up, its not like he will be confirm for the world cup during the Romania game)

At this point I think Sabella should include as much as possible players for the Romania friendly..Sabella should look at everyone possible outside of his normal core of players that have been with him all the way.

I'm not so sure about Otamendi anymore although he had a decent game vs Bosnia..I would choose Gonzalo or Musacchio over Otamendi at this point..Coloccini was looking good again but his injuries are a problem..So for me Otamendi and Coloccini are question mark at this point..

Julker Pellegrini said in an interview that Aguero will be back in time for the Chelsea and Spur games..I don't think Aguero will be ready in time for the New Castle game this weekend, but you never know though..sometimes these injuries are exaggerated to the extreme by the physios. The other day Ozil had a shoulder injury and, reports said he would miss up to 4 games? well Ozil is playing already..An operated injury is the most serious one, just look at Walcot and Rossi they're both out for a long period and will need surgeries..(Rossi come back in 2 - 3 months time while Walcot is out for 6 months)

LaTiNo I have no problem with Argentina playing Cameroon, but not in the farewell game right before the world cup..The Cameroon game is too risky in my opinion.Trinidad will be in just aww, playing against Messi/Argentina.While Cameroon would want to prove themselves against Argentina for their upcoming game they have vs Brazil..In this situation the Cameroon game will come with a lot of risk.

So Cameroon aim will be, lets go out and show Brazil we can compete with one of the best at the highest level, then all of a sudden the farewell game becomes a nightmare game..I don't even mind if Argentina play vs their U23 team for the farewell game..

Latino, it's kid's question but if you don't mind, I'll let you why it's risky for Argentina to play Cameroon. The Cameroonians play overly physical often so some of our players will be treated to unnecessary rough tackling and risk losing players ahead of the WC. For preparation against Nigeria, we'd rather play a country like Ghana whose style is more skill based and less rough play.

This makes more sense..I said on the other post that was posted here several days back on Mundo that Argentina should play either Jamaica or Trinidad instead of an African team..Trinidad might not be a world class team but they're physical like all African teams..

I said we should play Trinidad or Jamaica and someone here was laughing at my post.. Now who was right then?
