@Hanan, i would rsther see Biglia as a destroyer than Cambiasso. Youth and Biglia excells deep. Cambiassos strenght is being well rounded, like Gago.

While there are plenty of choices in the center of our midfield "CM", we lack pure defensive midfielders the types of Simeone and Almeyda, the world class players we used to produce for that role. Therefore, whenever we come up with suitable name to back up Masche, it ends up placing him in Gago's position.
Yes, Cambiasso isn't Masche's back up, but he's the most reasonable choice when there is no pure DM in our disposal.
Keeping Gago's condition aside, I see Masche and Cambiasso as our DMs and Banega, Biglia as CMs. Then, there is Di Maria and Alvarez forming our side mids along with Lamela with a more attacking role if 8 mids are going to make the final list.
These are the best contenders for our midfield of 2014.

This WC will have a lot of surprises I feel. The top dogs are all pretty even with no team acting as a perfect powerhouse. The runner ups are all fierce with very few exeptions and more than capable of creating upsets. International futbol is loosing the dominance of its poles I think..

“Brazil, Argentina, Germany and Spain are the favourites. There are six or seven teams behind them, including Italy,”-Italy coach Cesare Prandelli explained to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“There’s an idea that we’re the strongest, the most beautiful and the most talented. But we’re not. We are no longer the best, but we can beat the best as long as we behave in a certain way – with team spirit.”

Italy have been handed a tough group-stage draw alongside England, Uruguay and Costa Rica and Prandelli hopes that recent victories over their fellow giants will stand them in good stead.

“We are not afraid, but it remains a difficult group, with three former world champions. The minimum goal is to qualify, possibly first in the standings,” he continued.

“We had a great game against England at Euro 2012. We didn’t score, but we went through on penalties. We suffered in the second half in the Confederations Cup against Uruguay before another win on penalties.

“I’m not talking about Costa Rica but I’ve started studying them. They have technical and physical quality. These months until the tournament are fundamental. In recent weeks we’ve laid the foundations for the preparation.”

it's just a warming up match; a light try out to build confidence and getting the blessing from Rosario soil. The real test is in Brazil.

I hope they take it easy on the players. Make sure Argentina wins both times, but if either opponent is playing rough, take out Messi, Aguero, and Higuain. The last thing we need are our star players being injured.

So 2 matches before the World Cup? Kinda perfect. Maybe in one of those matches, we'll have 30 players as the rule of the WC before cutting it down to 23.
