Esteban Cambiasso: "I would not say no"

Esteban CAMBIASSO spoke about the Argentina National Team.

Esteban CAMBIASSO spoke about Argentina and what his answer would be if he were to be called-up. Here's what he had to say:

"I would not say no. I'm very happy with the team, regardless of my situation." Note that Cambiasso is rumored to be called-up for Argentina. That's futbol and I'm very respectful of the coaches. Never questioned why I'm there or not. I always try and understand the coaches. It takes patience."

CAMBIASSO is rumored to be called-up by Alejandro SABELLA.

Cambiasso will never suit this Sabella side. He will slow down our counter attacks & even other attacks. There are many others who deserve more than him according to the form. He has always failed in the NT. He's just like tevez(not in bad temperament) with his displays for the NT. With our shaky defence, cambiasso can never be used to shield them. We have biglia in the squad, who is way way better & gago is also there; & if anyone should be called as backup, it will be the stunning silent-assassin Yacob!

I expect:
.......................Romero
................Fernandez....Garay
......Campagnaro.......................Orban
...............Gago...Mascherano..Di Maria
....................... Messi
................Palacio......Aguero

Andujar,Orion
Zabaleta,Musacchio,Basanta,Rojo
Maxi,Biglia,Cambiasso,Alvarez
Lavezzi,Higuain

Then we have two equal formation of back.

No. Cambiasso will be call up for Banega. That's obviously, because Banega play really bad at last time.

We need to watch football more.Cambiasso has been superb for Inter this season.Even Mazzari said that he has been playing like he used to play under Mourinho.

Slow?Cambiasso was never that fast. But his game knowledge, tactical awareness and intelligence was(is) always phenomenal.

Old?So what about Xavi(will be 34 at January 25) and Pirlo(35).He is in better form than both of them.

Masche,Gago,Biglia and Banega are our primary candidate for DM/CM role.If Sabella decide to Cambiasso be the 5th man here I see no problems. If we
add Yacob in this list also,I see a problem-that is too many classy players fighting for limited spots.

If Cambiaso replaces Gago, I would put Di Maria on the right wing in a formation of 4-2-3-1.

Cambiaso & Mascherano as defensive midfielders, Di Maria & Aguero on the right & left wings, Higuain is the front man and Messi in after Higuain. If Messi plays little deep, he will get some extra space, and that will be dangerous for the opponents.

@Arg fan. Cambiasso is pretty dam slow and his stamina might be an issue near the end of the tourney. For me Gago is not replasable as he is much more mobile and more controling offensively. Biglia and Banega need to be careful though as its even.. especially Banega. Id take Cambiasso over Banega any day.

Ru kidding me. Cambiasso is better than biglia or banega, defensively he's better than gago. Him and mascherano should start, you would have one hell of a defensive mid along with messi and di maria. Cambiasso is a must in the nations team

Looking at the Sabella playing scheme, i think Cambiasso unlikely join the team as he did not match the strategy and scheme, Sabella have his final formation on 4 fabs with Masche and Gago as the backbones. Biglia,Banega, Lavezzi and Maxi will join them unless injury or fitness problem occur Cambiasso chance is very slim.

As I said, Cambiasso will compete with 4 regulars: Masche, Gago, Biglia, and Banega. I think Sabella mentions his name because he's worried about Gago's condition. If Gago is unavailable, then there is no one better than Cambiasso, but if all 4 are available, then Cambiasso is a long shot.

Esteban is a fine footballer and I for one would welcome his inclusion as a BENCH player subbing for Gago when and if the need arises while Biglia, with his tenacity and incredible work rate is the best sub for Masch especially since Yacob is very unlikely to be included at this point.
The one issue that I have with Cambiasso is his tendency to go forward and while that's usually a good thing, when you have a team like Argentina that is playing in a 4-3-3 formation with essentially 4 attacking players and only 2 defensive players in the midfield you'll need the 2 defensive players to keep their attention fully focused on defense like Gago and Masch do (very well might I add).
On the other hand Mou has once stated that Esteban is the smartest footballer he's ever coached so Im sure with proper instruction from Sabella he'd do just fine.

Totally agree with Leandro. We have seen how the concept of Cambiasso or Lucho as a playmakers work. Basically they don't. Cambiasso can be there for the experience, as a sub/replacement for Gago. As a #8 and not as a #10.

As long as Cambiasso is used as a work horse player and NOT a creative player I am all for his inclusion. He would make a great tandem with Masch, Gogo or Biglia in defensive midfield duties with a cool head going forward. However, Cambiasso does not have it in him to be a play maker.. he had much of that pressure at the Copa America and he chocked pretty bad, his passing that cup was atrocious.. he was below 50% completion rate.

Cambiasso is worth trying by Sabella; looking at Lamela performance at present and all the injury - Cambiasso is an experience player and in top form that can be a good subs.

Looks like Cambiasso and Tevez were asked the same question "Would you say "no" if you were asked to play in the world cup?".

Tevez: "No world cup for me"

Cambiasso: "I would not say no"
