TEVEZ : No World Cup Hopes For Me
Carlos TEVEZ in recent interview with Argentina's La Red radio station stated that he holds out no hope of being part of Argentina's World Cup squad and prefers not to watch their matches on television.

Here are some of the quotes from that interview: -

"If SABELLA hasn't called me up, I'm not going to phone him to find out why he doesn't pick me,"

“SABELLA must not be asked to call me up... Let him work in peace because it's not easy for SABELLA not to call me. I know there's a lot of pressure especially from fans."

He also went on further to say that he has a good relationship with the Argentina players and national team captain Lionel MESSI.

"I have no problems with the group and I get on great with MESSI. I don't lose sleep over the World Cup. I don't think I will watch it because it hurts me to see the national team, it's bad for me,"

Since moving to Juventus this season, the 29 years old has been in fine form scoring 10 Serie A goals including a hat trick against Sassualo last weekend but has been overlooked since Alejandro SABELLA became Argentina coach in August 2011.

City's defence werent bad yesterday. Liverpool's high tempo passing carved them open. Nobody made any mistakes except the shirt pulling by lescott which skrtel too did at the other end. City were lucky to get all 3 points. Liverpool should have atleast got a draw, probably a win. They were outstanding. City's heavyweight guns were a given a mammoth test buy Reds' young guns. Zabaleta was crucial for city once again; if it was clichy, city would have been ashes before the final whistle. And Demichelis injury turned out a huge boon for the citizens!

Suarez is a great player. Aguero is great too. But Suarez is ready to be dirty to find a victory for his team. Remember Uruguay vs Ghana in 2010 WC or Chelsea vs Liverpool last season. His this kind of attitude sometime lets him down. Yesterday the referee could have given the penalty against Lescott who was holding him down. But Suarez tried to overreact which went against him. In my opinion he was the most threatening player on the field yesterday. Almost every dangerous attack went through him.

City needs to fix their defense man...So Demechelis didn't play today so who will some haters blame for Man City horrible defending today? Demechelis been good for City so far for someone who never played in the BPL and his best game yet was the away game against Chelsea where Nastasic and Hart mess up big time.

ForeverBatiGol Its not lucky, Palacio is just in the right place at the right time, that's how he score his goal..Palacio is a bit like Filippo Inzaghi and Luca Toni, these players when they score most of their goals are just always in the right place in the 18 yard box at the right time..

I watched the last 10 minutes of today's Spurs match. Lamela went down very easy twice in just those 10 minutes looking for a call. You can go down easy if you're Luis Suarez but if you're Lamela, and you have done f**k all in the EPL, you have to stay on your feet. He still has a lot to learn.

Eventhough Palacio scores goal (most of them lucky), he never looks like doing anything when he gets the ball. No pace, weak shots & passes= palacio. He works hard but attacking is his main job which he fails miserably.

@kid : i think people here doesn't underrate any players in argentine league , there are good quality players in back home .
but all cant be like pellegrini every one has their on choices and preferences and we never know what actually happening in back end , it was rumored tata was trying to bring vergini , but it didnt worked our some reasons that we will never know.
we all hoping to get some argenite players to barca since tata is the coach , but it doesn't mean he has to or even if he want to , the board may not be interested either..

Julker9 Argentina has a lot of quality players that can make the Barcelona team and I'm not talking about those in Europe but the ones we have back in Argentina league..I for one don't really care if Argentina players play for Barcelona because its not my favorite team anyway, but Barcelona is a BIG club and would set the platform for few of our young home grown talent. If Tata was really interesting he would fight to have Argentine league players at the club..

Simeone situation is different, because I don't know how long Ath Madrid honey moon will last, after a while AM will have to sell all their top players (Costa is the latest that will probably leave AM in the summer). Only Barcelona and Real can hold on to their top players in La Liga at any given day.

I for one respect Pellegrini, for a Chilean he always have connection with Argentine players since his River Plate days and it never change when he moved to Europe..At Villarreal Riquelme and Sorin were a center piece of his team. At Real Madrid, Pellegrini had players like Gago, Garay (He was the main reason Garay moved to Real), Heinze and, Higuain (And I think Saviola was at the club too at that time)..At Malaga Pelegrini had players like Demechelis, Willy, Diego Buonanotte and, Javier Malagueño..At Man City Pellegrini have already bring in Demechelis to the club and is set to bring in a few more Argentine players to Man City..Youngster Bruno Zuculini of Racing is set to join City, it seems like Pellegrini is in the driver seat to sign Mateo Musacchio..

I will go on a limb and say this, Barcelona will not sign any new players in the January transfer window, Tata is already convincing Puyol not to retire. So yes, Mascherano will be at Barcelona playing as a CB for the remaining of the season before the world cup (which I have no problem with), and I doubt Mascherano will want to leave in January when he has the opportunity to win 3 Silverware by the end of the 2012-2013 season. I don't see Masche going to Napoli before the world cup.

Players from Argentina that are on there way to Europe:

1. Luciano Vietto (20) set for a Liverpool move. He's been compare to the young Saviola.

2. Bruno Zuculini (20) heading to Man City.

3. Jaun Sanchez Mino (23) heading for Ukrainian side Metalist.

4. Manuel Lanzini (20) Heading to Dortmund..His transfer is said to be a possible Mario Gotze replacement..

5. Scocco is heading back to Argentina, this guy would be a nice free loan for Tata at Barcelona..But as I said, Tata is not interesting in bringing any local Argentine players to Barcelona..Scocco would be 10X better than Tello for the club. The Santiago Vergini rumor was not even accurate because during that time Vergini said he never heard from Tata..NOB goal keeper also said he never heard from Tata for a possible move to Barcelona.

Now the whoscored.com version:

La Liga team of the half season:
Valdez; Alvez, Godin, Amaya, Adriano; Vela, Rakitic, Isco, CR7; Messi, and Diego Costa.

EPL team of the half season:
Szczesny; Debuchy, Lovren, Jagielka, Evra; Ramsey, Gerrard, Fernandinho, Hazard; Suarez, Aguero.

3 Argentines: Cambiasso, Tevez, and Higuain made it to Serie A team of the half season:

http://www.goal.com/en/news/1717/editorial/2013/12/25/4492704/serie-a-team-of-the-season-so-far-rossi-tevez-buffon-in-as-milan-?ICID=HP_HN_1

Surprisingly they omit the likes of Vidal and Gonzalo Rodriguez.

1 Argentine Mateo Musacchio made the La Liga team of the half season:

http://www.goal.com/en/news/1717/editorial/2013/12/24/4498897/la-liga-team-of-the-season-so-far-messi-absent-as-ronaldo-valdes-?ICID=OP

Bartra made it. I know it is goal.com version, but Masche's spot seems in danger now. Napoli is said to want him and Lamela.

No Messi on the team.

@kid, Tata did try to introduce the Argentine players from his previous club, like santiago vergini, and the GK, etc etc. The problem is Rosell, the barcelona president is stubborn as hell, and he wouldn't take Tata's recommendation, and it's Rosell's decision whether to buy or sell a player, Tata could only give his recommendations. He might not have pushed it hard enough to make the deal goes through, but Rosell is one stubborn man and he makes the final decision.

zulfiker I Did not say Tata Martino success at Barcelona depends on how many Argentine players he bring at the club.

When Frank Rijkaard was the coach of Barcelona he had Michael Reiziger, Edgar Davids,Phillip Cocu,Patrick Kluivert,Marc Overmars, and Giovanni van Bronckhorst. All these guys are Dutch players that mostly came to Barcelona with Rijkaard..Afterwards Pep came in and he mostly use Spanish players..Tata is a disappointment for me, he should have recommend a few Argentine players to Barcelona, on the other hand Santos gave them Neymar and 3 other players.

Tata is not brave enough to express is own beliefs at Barcelona he has to stick with Tito and Pep tactics.

Haha I have come across so many palacio and lavezzi haters in mundo. For the time being people are now satisfied with palacio's performance. I think they haven't watched Inter Milan and Napoli matches. I agree that Lavezzi hasn't been at his best with PSG but still he is doing good with the Paris based club. Lavezzi is a vital part of sabella's set up and he is a quality player aswell. So no use in moaning against the inclusion of a quality, harworking, physically fit, team man who is ready to warm the becnh even without getting any playing. Same applies for Palacio aswell.

Messi was aked to walk by Guardiola. Itd so he draws his markers away from the flow of play and also to disapear so that when he does he has more explosive change of pace to the game. Messi is not lazy at all.. if you watch him play for Argentina he pressures hard, winning a lot of balls from the opponents defense and will often drop deep in our midfield to recover pocession.

The success of tata martino as a Barcelona coach depends on bringing more Argentina players in Barcelona. really???? that's one of the funniest thing i have heard recently... a professional coach would always bring professionalism in bringing and managing player . that's why tata martino also praise neymar when he performs well . i regularly follow Barcelona football blog and majority of their fan is happy about their coach . I mean come on even without messi they tops the la liga table . that's a top performance for any coach .In case of macherano guirdiola tried macherano as midfielder but that experiment did not go well and only then he shifted in the back four . And he is doing quite well. his passing has been improved and he has become overally a very good defender.

I've been watching some Verona games this season. Iturbe, for me has been highly inconsistent. I like the player, but what bothers me is his attitude on the pitch. He seems to really attempt to steal all Messi's moves. Well he's not there yet, but there is similarity of course.

The bad thing about that is that he has all Messi's "lazy attitude" on the pitch. If you notice, we often see Messi just walking on the pitch when he has nothing to do. Messi's the exact opposite of Tevez or Di Maria who always seems to run chasing the ball no matter how far they are from the ball. Iturbe is just like Messi there. At times, he just walks without trying to press the opponents. Or when his teammates attack from the left (he is almost always on the right), Iturbe just walks as if he is not interested in helping the attack. So his positioning and work rate are bad there.

I say Iturbe is not ready for this WC yet. He, Fede Cartabia, or Ocampos all are young players playing at similar positions. For me Fede is the most ready product out of three. When good, Iturbe is better than all three, but like I said, very highly inconsistent.

My biggest let down in 2013 was Tata Martino..Failure of getting more Argentine players to Barcelona..Failure to sign defenders..Failure to work Mascherano back into the holding position in the midfield..I really was looking forward seeing Mascherano playing as a DM under Tata even if he had to rotate in some games with Busquet but no, I was wrong.

one good thing happened for dimaria in RM is , under mourinjo he played in different level , he learned how to track back , how to make some crucial decisions ..

dimaria is great when he played with messi , but in the absence of messi especially if you see last match against ecuador he is often playing too selfishly which i think he has to improve.

in the absence of messi he is the captain of our attacking force

Oh I forget Tevez he's 46...Baker I think Di Maria is the most underrated player in world football at the moment..

But this is my thing, no matter what Di does at Real Madrid he will always get overshadowed by Ronaldo and Bale..

So their is only one outcome to this situation..The 2014 world cup will be the BIGGEST stage of them all and Di Maria will prove to the entire world what a great player he is..I see Di Maria outshining Ronaldo at the next world cup..

Lavezzi have been with this crop of players since the 2008 Olympics..No way in the world I will swap Lavezzi for any other player..I never forget that Brazil vs Argentina game that was played back in Qatar 2011..It was Lavezzi who came on late and change the game with his speed assisting Messi on the one and only goal of the game, which was a win for us..

Julker going by your logic; Tevez should be called up over Higuain and Palacio..Its not always about goals, Lavezzi role is crucial to the team, he scored two goals for Argentina in his last two games.

Long story short; Lavezzi is one of our most valuable player in the squad, that's why he's still playing for us.

Maxi Rodriguez really exploded when Tata Martino started using him in NOB as a forward/winger instead of a midfielder... He can play both positions, but he is a born winger... People will laugh but I think the key to beating Brazil will be handling Marcelo properly and taking advantage of him being so forward, if he plays that way.

yes , but he is better than luiz , and i sincerly hope scolari wont go for 3-5-2 formation because , they have really good fullbacks which has good offensive capability.

-----dante---silva---luiz---

alves-----------------------marcelo

this can be a dangerous force....

Arglover I don't agree with you on Fernandez..Fernandez have grown under Benitez so far this season..He had a great game against Arsenal and also had a strong game yesterday..You cant blame all Napoli goals on Fernandez, Napoli lack of a strong good DM and CM players are the reason why they concede goals (I watch most of Napoli game and I can tell you their midfield is not good enough to win Serie A), no one is in the Napoli midfield that can old on to possession for long periods of time in a game..Until Napoli solve their midfield problem they will concede goals that should have been avoidable.

Kid:i personnaly prefer hugo lloris on romero and regarding monaco its a decent team having great names but what does count in football is results something that monaco misses. And lets consider monaco is a great team that doesnt erase the fact that romero is the replacement and he's not having any play time. Argentina is full of great names and its a must to have a world class keeper.

Maxi Rodriguez is basically another striker for us..Argentina need no more attackers in the team outside of who Sabella will pick in his squad of 30 before the final 23. Sabella just need to concentrate on bolstering our defense even more, that's about it at the moment..I don't need to hear anything pertaining to another striker for the team.

Every players come with their own qualities..We are not going to have 5 Messi or 5 Aguero or 5 Higuain on the squad at the same-time.. Lavezzi is a wonderful professional he (Lavezzi) and Zabaleta are two of the most professional football players I see currently playing in world football, that's the reason PSG fans like City fans love both Lavezzi and Zabaleta not for their goal scoring ability but as baker said playing out your heart for your team..

We had Martín Palermo and Diego Milito at the 2010 world cup and they did not make any difference at the tournament and those players were ideal Higuain back ups at the time.

Saella has a system and Lavezzi is important to that system, hence that's why Lavezzi will be going to the world cup..I would not trade Lavezzi spot for any player out there.

@julker : if higuain is injured palacio will be our ideal replacement even if palacio cant make it out we have kun in the front line , so no worries for me that area.

and about lavezzi , he will be playing his heart out whenever called up for NT , that spirit is most important in WC like tournament. and his hardworking and never tired attitude will make a toll in the opponent defense in last minutes.

Kid, yeah as u said " he's definitely nOt an all Out striker " that's mean he is a winger & that's my pOint. Bcuz we have already 4 winger in Our team !! Messi, Kun, Di Maria & Lamela. They all have the quality tO play as a winger & as well as striker. We need an effective striker like Higuain Or palaciO in Our WC squad. I m damn sure if Higuain get injured at WC time than Arg cOuld be suffer infrOnt Of gOal. With lavezzy Arg will n't survibe. Than why Lavezzy ??? Kid i knOw u have better knOwledge than me !! Julker9 Lavezzi is not an out and out striker but a winger..Notice at PSG Lavezzi play with both Cavani and Zlatan on the pitch at the same time..Lavezzi is a true attacking winger that will open up space for the players in around the opponent box but he's definitely not an all out striker..

Boudou: Hugo Lloris great? Is this a joke are what? Their is nothing special about Hugo Lloris, he's just a decent goalkeeper if you ask me...I even rate Brad Friedel over Hugo Lloris..Buffon is nothing special these day's I think Buffon is way over the hill now, he should retire from international football, they have way better GK in Italy than Buffon at the moment, reputation is the only thing keeping Buffon in the Italian team..

I would not call Monaco an average team, its a club with huge ambitions; the same was the case for Chelsea when Roman took over, Man City when the Oil people took over and, PSG when the oil people took over..Monaco is following the foot step of these other club who spent money to get success. If you look at Monaco man for man with any EPL team I say they would be in the top 10 in England.

Most ofthe talking is on Tevez and Lamela but i really think that our problem is with the goalkeeper. in WC 2010 romero was horrible specialy with the first goal conceided against germany in the quarter final. We cant just intensify our defense we have to have a great goalkeeper to be able to lift the troffy. Wether we like it or not he is not a good goalkeeper, he can't even start at Monaco!!! an average team playing in an average league...Just notice the greatenessof the goalkeepers on the other teams: Neuer,Casillas,Lioris,Buffon,..... and than comes ROMERO......What a shame..

@diego-maniac : here nobody doubting his skill and caliber , we are all worrying about his position in WC squad.
he will be shining later for sure , but that is not a good reason to be included in NT , in fact he played 3-4 matches for NT and player with his caliber should have pulled much better in those given occasions.

I have to disagree for all the criticism lamella is receiving here... I ve been watching Tottenham lately a lot nd it's not an issue of confidence . It's simply that their style of play definitely doesn't suit lamella.. Lamella is a box to box winger who is fast nd like to play quick short passes nd is really good in key through passes nd shooting. However, he is not getting his opportunities. Wat I ve seen fm Tottenham style of play this season is that they cut the ball nd their players either dribble or play a long through pass without rotating the ball between their players or even passing it to their key players like lamella. This added to lack of playing time nd the switching in positions ( he is not playing in a stable position; in 1 match he switched between right winger left winger to central attacking midfielder) is destroying his career. I hope the new coach is able to change tottenhams style of play to suit lamella more... In my opinion, lamella can be one of the stars inEPL if he plays in other teams that suit his style of play more such as man city, arsenal or Swansea !

It's Messi's decision, I know, I hope nothing happens to him. It's a gamble not to take a replacement for him. I'm looking at it from that stand point, nothing else. If all our players stay healthy, we definitely have a chance. If Messi gets hurt, that's it, we will not win a WC. But, we could say that for a lot of teams if you take out their main player. I'm done with Tevez, as a sub. Its not going to happen, I really don't care if he gets selected, but Messi better not get injured.
