Mundo Albiceleste Podcast

The podcast is ready!

Thank you everyone for sending in their questions. We were able to respond to a few of them, but due to the lack of time, we weren't able to answer them all. Seba was unable to join us for the podcast, which means it was myself and John who did the recording. It has been cut into three different sections.

In part 1, we talk about the World Cup draw and all the teams involved. In the second section, we talk about transfer rumors regarding players and in the third section we talk about Argentina against Slovenia and answer the questions.

Part 1:

Part 2:

Part 3:

Without even watching them play, something is not right about going to the World Cup with two keepers, one is a substitute in the French league and the second one has never played in Europe and never for the national team.

A lot of people here believes football start and end in Europe..At the end of the day Argentina and Brazil always have the most talented players ever in the history of the game..

@ Ari I'm assuming you don't watch the Primera? Are you just a fan of Messi? Orion is playing the best out of all of our keepers, the fact that the "great" Boca concedes 2-3 goals when he is called to the National team is proof enough. I like Caballero i do, but to call Orion a nobody simply because he plays in the Primera? Well....i suppose the fans on this forum have had their differences when it comes it to watching the Argentina league...

I am sorry Roy but you have to be kidding me to say Orion is better than Willy Caballero.
Willy Caballero has easily been one of the top 5 keepers in world for the last two years, while Orion or Romero are sadly nobodys in the world football.

Of course Caballero concedes goals, he is playing for freaking Malaga; but I challenge you to find me easy goals like what Romero let in against Peru or Paraguay. By the way, Romero plays once every few months, and yet he lets in easy goals while Caballero doesn't, who plays every week.

It is one thing to say maybe there is a reason why Caballero is not called like Zanetti in 06 or 2010 but it is a totally different thing to say freaking Orion or Romero are better than Caballero.

@Pablo.D Thanks for the feedback, you've been one of our loyal readers since the 2006 World Cup. We did this on a very short notice so we decided to go ahead with whatever topics that we had in mind. But surely in the future,we will be more than ready. Once again, thanks for your feedback.

Regarding Caballero, I've heard his issue only since after Copa America. May I know why people never considered him before? Like in 2010? Were Orion or Andujar had higher profile before?

I haven't had time to listen to this, will do soon. Thanks.

1st thanks for the podcast as always but I do feel this is not the best one you have done, sorry to say that as I realise you put a lot of work into it.
for me I feel you should have dedicated a good 20 mins of it answering writers questions as only a few were answered(3 I believe).
their was far to much time speculation on the w.c on who is going to win this and that, as the w.c is still a fair way away it would better dissected closer to the time when we know who will actually be in all teams for all countries because a lot of things can happen by then.
any way guys just my thoughts and thank you for your effort as its a big ask to do.

and it goes like this

courtois, Valdes, Navas (levante) with 7 clean sheets

and then *drum roll*

WILLY CABALLERO with 5 clean sheets (as bad as Malaga defence is right now, that's a reward)

Mateo Musacchio is probably our current best cb STATISCALLY in Europe top 5 Leagues bt he's very error prone. With 3 defensive errors in 16 games already, thats the 2nd most among all the cb in La liga. (Squawka)

I dont know if he would be able to handle the NT pressure tbh. A year from now I would be all for it, bt now with this short period of time I wouldnt take that risk

Thank you Roy for answering my question.I agree with what you have said about Caballero. For me,he is another Pastore, there is ups and downs, brilliant stops and easy goals.

And for top 3 goalkeeper,I also agree with your point.Romero has done enough to be patient.you can't just throw out our starting GK of 3.5 years out of the team.On the other hand,I do not see any problem with Andujar. He never missed a call-up for 4 years, from any manager,he is one of the most regular and senior squad member. So actually it was always about 3rd place. It was never Romero vs Willy. It was Orion vs Willy and Orion won.For whom want see Willy in the team, bash Orion instead of Romero ;) :D

The world cup bracket right here..This is pretty cool, you can simulate all the teams you think will progress from the group stage right on to the final.

I feel the same too, I have nothing against Portugal or Ronaldo but I see Ghana going through with Germany..Ghana physicality, strength and speed will get them through this group..Portugal is all Ronaldo for me, if he' on a off day Portugal will struggle..Portugal other biggest problem is that they cant rest Ronaldo in any of the games, with the conditions in Brazil you're going to want your top player to get at least a game off, unfortunately for Portugal they cant rest Ronaldo ..I see a fatigue Ronaldo at the 2014 world cup.

Costa Rica wont be a push over at the 2014 world cup, I doubt England will score more than 2 goals against Costa Rica..Remember in 2006, England could barely defeat Trinidad and Tobago.

I see Mexico coming in second in group A..Yes, Mexico had a bad year but this new Mexican coach seems like he's ready to turn a corner..Mexico have good players in Vela and Do Santos..Seriously though, Mexico will be the only team in this group to put up a fight against Brazil, no matter how you look at Mexico they always play their best against Brazil in football tournaments. In the last 5 meetings between Mexico and Brazil in tournaments, its Mexico the surprising team with 4 wins out of 5 and Brazil with 1 win out of 5 (Brazil most recent win was at the 2013 Confed Cup)....The Mexico Brazil game is a classico for both teams and I do feel like their will be surprises in the Mexico vs Brazil game..Yes, Brazil defeat Mexico at the Confed cup but even against a struggling Mexican team at the time, Brazil was still not able to dominate the game.

My predictions for the Brazil vs Mexico game, I believe we can have any of these score line.

Brazil 1 vs Mexico 1

Brazil 2 vs Mexico 2

Brazil 1 vs Mexico 2

Brazil 2 vs Mexico 1

Brazil 3 vs Mexico 2

All these games will be very competitive

Cant compare the African confederation to South America confederation, because South American football is way more superior to that of African football. Remember now this is South America 4th world cup unlike Africa who host their first back in 2010..If you go back to the 1978 world cup, Peru was actually a good team, I see Ecuador as the Peru of the 2014 world cup. Chile also made the Semifinal in 1962 world cup, so again, their is no comparison between the two continent.

I rather play against any of the European teams in the round of 16 than Ecuador..I feel Ecuador will be tougher opponent for Argentina than France or Swiss. And given that the world cup is on South American soil, i feel Ecuador will even play their hearts out more, plus Ecuador is way more physical than either Swiss or France.
