I feel that Maradona's paise of Messi being equal to him is not 100% genuine. It is his weapon to undermine Pele. Maybe Diego wants to insert one more player in his inequality: Maradona > Pele. He wants to make it Maradona = Messi > Pele.
By the way, Pele appears to be more sick than Diego in that he has refused every new Pele (there have been too many) to be equal to him.

It seems that some people have already seen Argentina in world cup final .lol. i had to quickly turn the calendar and i noticed that it almost 7 months to even start the group stage match . I remembered even in 2010 match there were some fans that predicted maradona is going to bring third world cup for Argentina . It always astonish me..... Even in the case of barca vs man city how can be people so sure about victory of certain team when in football anything can happen?

There is difference between expectation and over-optimism . IMHO some people don't see that line at all

Maradona already stated that Messi is the new Maradona, unlike Pele who said Neymar is better than Messi but will never be better than him (Pele).

@Kidulthood: Maradona was a very special player but as a person is far from perfect. I think he's a bit ambiguous about Messi, he likes Messi but a bit jealous or possibly he thinks Messi didn't do much to influence AFA to hire him. But I will always like Maradona the player.

Man city vs Barcelona will be decided by the coaches. If Martino takes note from Guardiola over the two games, (and the presense of Messi of course) then Barcelona should tear City apart. That's all I have to say

This is my take on this City vs Barca match up..I see Man City going through, because at the moment they're more of a balance team than Barcelona. City bench is just too scary while Barcelona has to depend on La Masia B players. Even if Barcelona shop in January they wont be able to get any quality players because they will be already tied to UCL football...Barcelona wasted precious time during the summer where they needed to sign several players.

Barcelona without Messi will not be a threat to City..And for Argentina sake I just hope City knock Barcelona out of the UCL, after all Messi don't need another UCL title at this minute. A 100% Messi going into the world cup is all that matter for me, I careless about what Messi does in the UCL this season because he already won everything their is to be won at club football.

My prediction

1st leg;

Man City 4 vs Barcelona 2

2nd leg:

Barcelona 3 vs Man City 2

Ok lets look at the toughest games Barcelona play this season..Barcelona play two games vs Atletico Madrid and they did not control the midfield; Barcelona did not control the midfield against Bilboa; Barcelona did not control the midfield away vs Ajax..Even the El Clasico game was balance, its not like Barcelona outplayed Real Madrid..You guys fail to realize that this is not the same Barcelona of 4 years ago, and Messi is the only person keeping Barcelona as a serious contender..Barcelona for me just haven't look sharp...Barcelona is way ahead of Man City when it comes to UCL but that don't change the fact that City is playing the better football..Wasn't Spain midfield better than Brazil at the Confed cup? What happen then..Barcelona midfield have not been that convincing this season PERIOD..Just remember PORTO won the UCL when nobody gave them a chance..

It seems that Maradona can hardly accept that he's not that good of a coach. The fact that Argentina kicked him out made him bitter. Well, if he was that good, we would have kept him.

It is irony from someone who was Argentina number 1 icon as well as our biggest fan to someone who won't even bother watching Argentina play and support our nemesis, CR7. I wonder what is he going to say if Argentina meet Brazil in the World Cup. Would he pick Brazil?

I have always been a huge fan of Diego but since the 2010 wc I have had mix feelings about Maradona..Isn't it ironic Diego said CR7 should win after the voting was close? (who cares what Diego think now) Why didn't he (Diego) said this when the voting was open..Maradona is a narcissist, the same can be said for Pele.

One more thing again that Maradona did that was really bad, was when he announce he will be supporting UAE at the U17 world cup..Out of all the past players; Maradona and Pele seems to be the most bitter and jealous ones of Messi.

Ronaldo (Brazil) most recently said ''that he would put his money on Messi to win a 5th BDOR.''

@SulaV @Kenneth @Amlan @baker man c vs barca should be a epic goal fest.KUN vs MESSI.but, i think we should support man c because they are proponents of S.American football against the spanish style.

Regarding the Man City/Barca match up, initially i thought that Man City's physicality with their mixture of technique would be to much for Barca. BUT, some key happenings that i thought was key. 1 When was the last time Barca exited the champions league before the quarter? 2. When Messi comes off of an injury, and he is actually healthy, he comes out FIRING. 3. Barca beat a better Manchester side in Manchester United, they had a better defense a better goalie, and an overall better team with more experience. However, i refuse to rule anything out, as great as Barca is so is Manchester City and I'm relishing the match up of Toure against Barca and the super star Aguero running at Pique. Needless to say, it's gonna be dynamite.

I don't think Manchester City midfield can outplay Barcelona midfield. Technically Barcelona midfield is far more superior. Both Barcelona and Manchester City have got problems in their defence. But with Neymar, Messi, Sanchez playing and signing a new central defender in January, Barcelona can beat City.

They both are my favorite teams in respective leagues. I wish both of them went all the way to final.

Messi should have be ready for the WC as Barcelona will get knocked out of the CL early this season. Barcelona under the new management is crap. Bye bye CL. Good for us and Messi so he won't get occupied by the CL and save his fitness level for the WC.
Messi is moving to Bayern next season regardless of him denying the rumor or the club wants to do the impossible to keep him. Messi's time is up with Barca.

Watching the weekly football show the Locker-room on Beinsport channel and what the hell is going on in Spain again, accusation of money laundering concerning Messi and his father again!!!

The media over there ain't worth a s***

On another story, I have a feeling that the issue of Tevez and the NT is not over yet.

Super Kun will be available, ready and firing on all cylinders and I hope he smacks Barcelona and that ought to teach them to pass on him and get the Brazilian.

I would want Messi to score as many goals as possible while the rest of the team stink it up to high heaven.

Baker Argentina play a mixture of Possession and counter attacking football, so we will be able to handle physical teams unlike Spain or Barcelona who always seems to want to tiki taki no matter what the circumstances are. Argentina will come up against Nigeria and that will even strengthen them more as they move on in the tournament.

Brazil midfielders are physical but they lack in creativity and they are not great passers of the ball...Gustavo, Paulinho and Lucas Lieva are not that great of a midfield if you ask me, even if you add Rameres to that list.

I rather this was a quarter final game, but oh well. I just want to see Zabaleta rough Neymar up a bit and lock him down for the entire game..Messi coming back give Barcelona some hope but I just don't see Barcelona winning this tie..I would love for Messi to get Raul record for UCL top goal scorer, but it will be tough now being that he has to come up against City. The most goals Messi will get in this tie, is 3 over the two legs....Man City will blow away Barcelona with their physicality.

On their day; Yaya, Fernandinho, Silva and Nasri midfield is >>>>> Busquet, Iniesta, Xavi and Fabregas..

Any ways I pick either PSG or Man City to win the UCL from the beginning...Messi don't need another UCL title with Barcelona now,the UCL comes around every season while the world cup comes every 4 years, I careless about UCL, and who wins it at this moment in time, because in the end this is just club football.
