Erik LAMELA could be joining Atletico Madrid

Erik LAMELA could join Atletico Madrid in January.

Erik LAMELA could be loaned out to Atletico Madrid in January. Rumors in the media are linking Erik LAMELA to Diego SIMEONE's Atletico Madrid. The thought behind this for LAMELA would be to get more playing time and trying to secure a place with Argentina at the World Cup.

Anybody but AVB would use Lamela as his starting line up when given a chance to coach Hotspur. AVB is a weirdo. He's trying to tell everyone that Lamela as if he's still adapting where Lamela is ready to make contribution.

I thinks this depends much on the incoming coach. With Baldini in Tottenhams ranks, there's a good chance Capello will walk in. Based on his reputation, he'd probably give Lamela a miss as I don't recall him using many younger players in his teams.

I am very happy with the Hotspur loss 0-5 at home to Liverpool and Lamela did not get to play again. I hope Lamela won't play again next week and they would lose again. The sooner Villas Boas getting sacked, the better.

You know everybody says that Lamela is in the process of adapting, that's old news! Everybody saw that he looked very comfortable in that one game of UEFA cup where he was the MOM. If a coach FAILED to see that as a turning point of a player, then a coach must be extremely horrible. A good goach would have started the kid the next game, but what happened in the next game of EPL? Lamela did not even play a single minute. Wow..

Not only that, Boas Vilas made Lamela available to be loaned out this January.

Not only that, up until this point (almost half way of the season), he has yet to find out his starting midfielders.

Not only that, he keeps using his stupid 4-5-1, although it proved to be highly unsuccessful.

Lamela 2014 reminds me of DiMaria 2010 version. Not world class yet but will be. Don't expect Lamela to have this stunning performance at the world cup because that's not going to happen. Lamela is a gifted player and will be world class by the 2018 WC. Give him more time, good back up for a substitute role on the current Albiceleste team.

I also want to see Yacob get called, I said this many times before.

for me its double worry because i know how good he can be, is and will be for both my Tottenham but also our Argentina, i want him to find his form far sooner rather then later as i like most of us on here really want him to be in good form and heading to the world cup.

i found this read on a spurs site
"I'm from Argentina and I'm been following Argentines in Europe since 2006.

Erik Lamela is considered by thomas vickery (south american columnist) to being the best Argentine youngster. Better than iturbe, Ocampos, and Icardi. He is believed to be the next number 10 for Argentina.

He scored 15 goals and had 5 assist last season. Sabella (Argentina's manager) didn't want to call him up to the national team, the only reason why he got a called up was because Sabella job was in question. The skill, the talent, and the potential are all there.

Argentines with big hype generally do poor in England their first season. Aguero is the exception. The reason why Aguero did so well in his first season was because he had tevez, zabaleta, and other spanish speakers in the squad.

Tevez and Macherano were 22 years old when he joined west ham in 2006.I don't know if some of you remember but they were very poor in the first few months.

Mascherano played poorly in the three months at west ham before leaving for Liverpool where he succeed under a spanish speaking manager and spanish players.

Many people would say Tevez stay at West Ham was successful. In some way it was, he leaded west ham out of the regelation zone and scored the winning goal against man utd in Manchester in the final match day to save them from the drop. However Tevez took a long time to score his first goal for west ham. He didn't score a goal for west ham until March. He finished the season with 7 goals.

With that said, some columnist in Argentina believe that Erik Lamela will surpass Tevez in terms of being a great player. And saying he is the best player river produced in a long time.

Erik Lamela main position, the position he grew up playing was playing in the attacking midfield role. Even though he played on the wing at Roma, it's still new to him to play on the wing. At Roma he was being breed to take Totti's role after Totti's retirement. They wanted him learn to play on the wing. I think Roma (?) got a new president or director(?) and decided to cash Lamela in, because they always want to turn a profit. (I'm not too sure but I remember reading that the American owners want to make a profit every year)

Lamela transferred to England, a nation in which most Argentines grew up having a great distaste for. (Football Rivarly and Falklands.) According to the Argentina media, he wanted the move because it was the next step in his career to move to what he thinks is a bigger club. When he got there he was overwhelmed with the pressure in replacing the 100 million pound man. He really did experience culture shock. Culture shock is more than feeling out of place. You can feel depressed and experience other mental issues such as anxiety. The reason why he got it so bad was the pressure of replacing bale and having really no one in the squad who speaks spanish besides the 29 year old soldado who is also new.

People will say Erik Lamela needs time to adjust to the pace of the premier league and I truly believe that isn't the case. Erik Lamela confidence is so shaky right now. It's all a confidence issue. He feels alone not only in London but with his teammates. Put yourself in his shoes, think about being 21 years old Englishmen and going to Argentina to replace Tevez or Maradona at Boca Jr's and having no other player speak english besides and older teammate who is also new. His family joined him in London which shows how bad he is in terms of his confidence and loneliness. He's learning English in order to fit in the team better. (Something Tevez never did). If tottenham looking for a new player in January, they should look into a spanish speaker around the same age as Lamela.

I've seen the last few games that Lamela played and he is playing like a shadow of himself. It seems like he trying too hard, and trying to do too much which is making him play even worse. When Lamela has the ball, it seems like he doesn't have a quarter of the confidence he had at Roma. Even off the field he seems upset and lonely. I remember seeing him walk into Manchester Citys' stadium and looked so shy, lonely and uncomfortable. He had his head down and just looked very timid. He looked like he was the new kid at school during lunch time. (It's on youtube, Under man city tottenham tunnel). This is coming from a guy who had the confidence to do the hand heart celebration after a goal.

He desperately wants to score a goal to show he isn't a bust, which leads to him drifting too far up and getting caught on the counter. When he played for Argentina against Bosnia last month he "whiffed" on a sitter and looked absolutely devastated. He is going through a rut, right now. Goals aren't really a big part of his game. He is usually more about creative dribble type of player than a goalscorer. He just wants to score to regain confidence.

Basically, he only played 6 premier league matches, only had 6 shots in the premier league this season and already have a couple of assist. There is no need to worry about him being a flop. He will be a great player for Tottenham and just last year, Roma fans and the Italian media said he could be as good if not better than Totti. He could very well be the next Totti but for Tottenham. It's going to take time.

Anyway, I just wanted to show you what is going on in his head. A quick way to help him out of his rut and rebuild his confidence, is to scream his name in White Hart Lane when he plays and show him lots of love and backing"

People like to complain about Argentina defense, with Ramos and Pique defending for Spain they will not progress out of the group..Ramos is a head case and Pique is awful..So who next Abiola or Barthra?..I'm going to say this. I have a feeling that their will be a surprise in the Mexico vs Brazil game..Mexico will be a different team from their Confed cup team, and even with Mexico poor displaying earlier, Brazil could only win 2 - 1..So I have a feeling Mexico will upset Brazil in the world cup, especially this Mexican coach is calling up players that was previously left out by their last coach, and the name that comes to mind is Carlos vela..

Seriously though, I would love for Lamela to go on loan to AM or Napoli but to tell you the truth, I don't think he should go on any loan, only on a permanent move..If Lamela problem at Spurs is that he's not yet up to the pace/physicality of the BPL and he's also suffering due to language difference.. Then why would moving out of the country to Spain or Italy be a good move for Lamela to improve is situation at Spurs?

Moving to A. Madrid would be the best move for the kid. Under Simeone he'd learn how to fight on the pitch and that's what he lacks.

On another subject, what happened with Botta?
Last thing I heard he was loaned to Livorno to recover then he'd move back the next season.

He would've been a big thing if he didn't get injured!

lamela will be just fine and down the track we will all see exactly what he has to offer, this instant success we all crave just does not always happen.

some wrote on players not passing to him: perhaps its lamela not getting into the correct positions because if you look at his games for the n/t that same is happening players appear to some times bypass him.

I know man but Lamela im telling you this guy has the potential to compete with Neymar Gotze James Rodriguez Isco Hazard. I was completely frustrated how when Lamela moved to open spaces they wouldn't pass it to him there was many times when he was raising his arm for the ball. it is obvious Townsend is envious of lamela. Lamela will shine with time he is my favorite young player and i hope he makes it into our final 23 as a CAM/Forward...Him along with iturbe is what i hope to see in copa american 2016 to replace maxi and lavezzi, By that time we will be set to adding youth. But ofcourse right now 2014 is crucial to messis legacy I want him and all our players to win it!

Lamela will be fine, he is 21, i don't think anybody should be expecting him to go on loan and become the next Messi. IMO it's a lot better for us if he is not that well known/feared for the world cup. The kid is undoubtedly talented, and seems to only lack confidence when in the N/T. Like some people don't want Messi to win Balon d'or/champions league i would rather not have Lamela not blow up on the scene. We all know what he can do, give him time and let him shine :) hopefully in Brazil!

Ayrton I notice too, in the second half they barely want to pass Lamela the ball..I don't get these Spurs players, if you have a guy trying to adopt to a new club then you should be trying to get Lamela involve all the time so he can get more comfortable with the club, but these Spurs players were just being greedy today in my opinion.. I was like hitting myself saying Lamela just be selfish for a while instead of passing the ball to these other players who are not looking out for your best interest..It must be frustrating for Lamela that he don't understand the language then has to deal with this kind of foolishness on the field. Lamela just look the odd man out in this Spurs team..Although he got a A rating I'm still not sure about Spurs for Lamela.

arg2014 I agree with you, Erik Lamela should go to the world cup..I personally believe he will be our young surprising star off the bench like how Lionel Messi was back in 2006 world cup, not saying Lamela is on the same level as the 2006 Messi, but he will add youth and freshness to the world cup team, we need that little bit of surprise off the bench.

I don't agree with some guys here, saying that Lamela wont get games at Athletico..Lamela will not walk right into AM starting lineup but he'll work is way right into the team though, the culture in Spain is more better suited for Lamela and he will definitely shine if given the chance and unlike at Spurs he will get UCL football at AM..Look back at the Mascherano situation when he just move to England, he could barely get playing time in an average West Ham team, he was struggling to fit in, then came Liverpool Rafa Benitez to save Mascherano career in England. Simeone can do the same for Lamela in my opinion..AVB is an overrated coach, that's all I have to say..

Napoli getting knockout of the UCL group stage is just a look into the future of what will happen at the 2014 world cup..I see like 3 - 4 major European teams going home after the group stages are finish or even after the 16 games are completed...

World cup teams I see that will be going home early

1 Either Holland or Spain (If not at the group then second round against Brazil, so we might lose all 2 major teams from group B by the time the round of 16 is completed)

2. England or Italy

3. Portugal

4. France ( I want to see France get knockout, they have cheated their way into two straight world cup. First they cheated with Henry hand ball vs Ireland and this year Benezema clear half-side goal vs Ukraine.)

This will be great for us if it happens for real. AVB doesn't know how to use Lamela. He not an attacking minded coach. That's why he plays people like Siggurdson ahead of Lamela.

San Isidro, this kid is when playing with confidence is a germ that offers us attacking options with his dribbling skills and goal scoring ability. Why do think Sabella keeps him in the squad even if doesn't play him? He sees something unique in the player. In the Ecuador game, although he missed, he got himself into scoring position twice after coming off the bench. That for me means he has an eye for the goal. If he was playing regularly he'd have scored.

Another way to look at it is he can't get playing time on a sixth place team in the premier league. Why is it that we want to see him at the World Cup so badly? For my money whoever is in form should go in midfield. My guess is you have gago mascherano dimaria Biglia and two others. One of them is maxi based on his current form and the other is banega or Alvarez. Since he doesn't play banega's spot, he has to beat out maxi or Alvarez and I don't see that.
My point is guys these spots MUST be earned, not given, otherwise it's no different than us wondering why caballero is not our GK.
