Lionel MESSI Nominated as 2013 Ballon D'Or Award Finalist

Lionel MESSI is once again nominated as the Top 3 Finalist for this year’s Ballon D'Or Award. He is nominated alongside Cristiano RONALDO and Frank RIBERY.

Having already won in the previous four years, MESSI is now looking at potentially breaking his record by winning it for the fifth time in a row. As of now, he has already broken the record of being nominated on this award for 7 consecutive times. In recent weeks, there have been already some hot debates regarding on who will win it this year.

The winner will be unveiled on the 13th of January 2014 in Zurich, Switzerland.

Lovely thought, @argentuban. That would be second best transfer, next only to Romero's, for our team before the WC.

I hope the leaks are true, and that Messi indeed won. But given all of the posturing and vote trading and shenanigans by Real and company, and given my desire to avoid disappointment, I am assuming he did not.

If he lifts the award again in January, I want to see the tantrum Ronaldo throws and his face when they announce it, though. That would make my year.

It is not easy for everybody to accept when someone is being "too good". I am talking about Lionel Messi. He will win his fifth consecutive Ballon D'or and he deserves it. Most fans, or I should say, European based fans don't accept that just because Messi is too good and at the same time, their European man, CR7 unofficially won the world player of the month for November. So they use the momentum to advertise on CR7.

I remember in NBA, there was this one guy who was too good to play, Michael Jordan. He won like what? 5 MVP in a row or something? Since I was never a fan of him, I was always against him each year in MVP voting. I mean back then there were so many superstars. Every single player in dream team squad of 1992 could have easily won WVP, so why always Jordan?

So I could understand the feeling of football fans who happen to not idolize Messi. They are tired of seeing Messi winning always, but it is their fault. Why wouldn't they like Messi?

I already knew that Messi would win the Ballon D'or when:
1. He brought Barca to win the La Liga over Mourinho's (best coach of the year or something) Madrid?
2. He won the top scorer
3. He brought his team to the semifinal of CL, only an injury of him made Bayern look a lot superior.

That was in what? May 2013 or something? Yes he did secure his Ballon D'or. Not to mention how he was voted best player of the South American qualifying of WC.

Great game by Zabaleta. He literally shut Ribery down which was pivotal to secure a victory against Bayern considering Robben's absence. This man is real professional. I like him not because of his creativity or speed but because of his professionalism, confidence and fighting spirit. He is a must for us in the world cup. Here is his post match interview.

BTW, Demichelis was also good defensively. Its nice to watch two Argentine defenders shutting down German attacks.

Iturbe should stay away from Porto he needs to go to a bigger league! I think he should get regular playing time or be the first rotational player on the list i want to see him lamela or icardi in the worldcup we need youth along with cambiaso mascherano maxi for experience for the perfect mix.

i am a big fan of zaba , there is no dout he is pure class . and he is a hard worker and good motivator in the pitch.

but he is not a typical south american footballer , he lacks dribbling skill he is more of a direct player and in city he got immense freedom to explore through wings but his role in NT is restricted , that may be the reason some of us feeling he is not playing well for NT.

IMO the only better RB or Fullback out there is Lahm, the guy is incredible. Zabaleta may be slow but he is damn smart, i'm grateful we have him.

I'm starting to believe the leaks. Their prediction of top three is correct. I guess Messi will take the award again. When the question is "who do you think is the best footballer in the world", it's very difficult not to answer "Messi".

Ronaldo is not winning thy are already going crazy at Real Madrid..I have never seen a future BDOR winner behaving the way Ronaldo and Real are going about it..Look at all the past winners; Zidane, R9, Dinho, Owen, Canavaro. None of these players were behaving like today's Ronaldo and Ribery..If Ronaldo was winning they would be way more calmer and relax rather than throwing a tantrum every day. Why is it most people from Real Madrid and sky Sport saying Ronaldo must win? I can never take the English media seriously, they were the fools who predicted the end of Brazil, come to know Brazil wipe the floor with Spain at the Confed Cup, making all of them look like fools....

Wenger, Cafu, R9, Zanetti, Pellegrini all said recently Messi was the best..Ronaldo 9 most recently said he thinks Messi will win again..If Ronaldo cant tap into the South American and African votes, then he has an uphill battle to even get remotely close to Messi in the end

He was voted best RB in the Premiership last season. Don't know who is underrating him. The concern with him is cards and having a backup, an unavoidable concern for all defenders on any team.

Below is an analysis of Zabaleta and a comparison to other backs. It doesn't name him the best but it does talk about how good he is.

Zabaleta had Ribery number today, I don't know why people on Mundo underrate Zabman so much, but he's clearly the best RB in world football without a doubt. When Zabaleta came on after the 2 goals scored against Man City, his team play change immediately, the City defenders were more organize and Man City build up play from the back was way better..The first Man City goals was also made possible by Zabaleta link up play with Navas.

They didn't change the rules and extend the date the past 4 voting sessions, and Ancelotti and Real didn't whine for the cameras like they did this time. They also didn't have the argument that Messi was injured so much (which only shows his dominance in my mind, him being injured for so much yet still leading the league in goals last season etc.)

I believe Messi deserves the award over Ribery and Ronaldo, but until I see him lift it for a 5th time I am going to assume Ronaldo won it. The English press has been pushing hard for him, and Perez at Madrid has been campaigning a lot.

It would be wonderful if Messi won it again, considering how much got changed to help Ronaldo, how he gave up his captain's band so his team mate could vote for him, etc. He couldn't cry about bias at all. And I would love to see the look on his face.

Ronaldo fans are the most illogical fans in the world things they say
1)messi is not complete...oh so he cant play in every position from CAM CF ST LW RW LF RF FALSE9 while ronaldo can only play LW LF as we all know how innefctive he is in the middle and right.
2) its not only about goals Sneijder should have won it in 2010 then they say about how ronaldo has more goals this season.
3) messi can only play in barcas system he will fail else where. Oh yeah how about real madrid how ronaldo only scorers in counter attacks and freekicks 1/10 times. when messi is effective on counters freekicks and possesion.
4)Ronaldo got robbed last year for winning the liga yeah what did ronaldo win this year nothing and he certainly didnt get 91 goals.
5)Ronaldo led his team to the worldcup...oh yeah where was he in those matches against the easiest european teams.

Leoaimar, if there is one thing that the WC 2010 taught me is that superstition has no place in football.
Before the tournament started history told us that no europian team ever won the cup outside of europe and then Spain did just that. After Spain's opening match they lost to the swiz and no team has ever lost the opening game and won the WC and Spain yet again changed all that.
No one expected Spain to win the Euro 12 due to the fact that no team has ever won 3 major tournaments in a row and yet again Spain made us all eat our words (they sure as hell made me eat mine!).
Whether its group F, G or S it doesn't matter the team that wins it is the one that plays the best on the day and the one that is lucky to have all of its squad intact and injury free with the added benefit of favorable playing conditions.

Sabella is the coach Argentina was looking for all along, I love this guy, he gives me a lot of confident in the team..Sabella most important attributes is that he's humble..Even with the draw Sabella stayed grounded unlike (Brazil) Scolari.

Notice the friendly game against Bosnia Herz before a ball being kick Sabella was in the media saying Bosnia were the favorite team, Sabella respect all opponents, that's why he's going to take Argentina places..

I do believe Sabella is scouting out several players at the moment for key position on the team, and a goal keeper is also in the mix..For the friendly games Argentina will have more than just the Romania friendly, because we will still have a few international break before the world cup even though their is only 1 foreseeable game at the moment.

World cup travel wont be stressful for our fans, and that's a good thing, now we will have sold out matches in all of our group and second round games.

Argentina was clearly favored in World Cup draw for Brazil 2014, and that integrate the F group with Iran, Bosnia and Nigeria. The Argentine coach Alejandro Sabella , however, was cautious chatting with us:

"Sometimes there are stronger than other areas, but football always has its share illogical. Argentina is a candidate in the area, but we have to avoid triumphalism because football is the most illogical sports "

"In such a large country, go play North would have meant very tired. The distance was an issue that concerned us. Luckily we were able to circumvent the issue and geographic rivals "

Moreover, he added: "There are six months and things can happen, for the first instance the basic scheme is 4-3-3 but you can try something different" and thinking about future calls, said:

"Inter's players look good. All hierarchy are under observation. It is not appropriate to name names "
