Alejandro SABELLA on player profiles

Alejandro SABELLA spoke about the profile of his players.

Alejandro SABELLA commented about the low profiles of his players, mentioning Javier ZANETTI and Mauro ICARDI. Here's what he had to say:

"Every player has his private life. I like low profiles."

"ZANETTI, beyond being what he is as a player, is like ane ambassador for Argentinians in Italy. Behavior is important."

"He had the chance to be nationalized by Italy and I talked to him and that made up my mind. He's a young player. Inter saw the potential in him. He has things that we don't have on the National Team, most importantly because he's a target man and has a great aerial game. For now we'll keep watching him."

For those who don't know, ICARDI's been in the media because of his relationship with Maxi LOPEZ's former wife. To make a long story short, ICARDI has acted like a child ever since it started and he's been and is being told to grow up by people at Inter.

Of course not .. We have enough players to cover that, and if we need a back up then Yacob should be the one. Cambiasso's days are over !!

Argentina was clearly favored in World Cup draw for Brazil 2014, and that integrate the F group with Iran, Bosnia and Nigeria. The Argentine coach Alejandro Sabella , however, was cautious chatting with us:

"Sometimes there are stronger than other areas, but football always has its share illogical. Argentina is a candidate in the area, but we have to avoid triumphalism because football is the most illogical sports "

"In such a large country, go play North would have meant very tired. The distance was an issue that concerned us. Luckily we were able to circumvent the issue and geographic rivals "

Moreover, he added: "There are six months and things can happen, for the first instance the basic scheme is 4-3-3 but you can try something different" and thinking about future calls, said:

"Inter's players look good. All hierarchy are under observation. It is not appropriate to name names "

The WC is everything and then some Abs. The confederation cup is just an experiment to test the team's foundation, if they need to include player's or make adjustment heading into the WC.

which would you rather have?

Another CC title or a third star on the jersey?

I was very upset after losing Copa, especially knowing that ARG would have easily wont it if they had any sort of chemistry and I don't wanna think about losing the WC.

Christina said in a recent interview that he didn't care about winning the award and everybody on that show almost fell off their chair laughing.

Riiiigggghht Christina, maybe he forgot the look on his face right before they called MESSI'S name and after during the last award ceremony.

Dinucci, looking back, I'm glad Argentina didn't play in the CC, why?

1) Players are rested.
2) Maybe Messi's injury would have been worse.
3) Not showing the rest of the world what they're capable of in a semi-serious competition.
4) Let Brazil enjoy their win and like they say, who laughs last, laughs the most.

Having said all that, I wanted ARG to win COPA and believe me they would have easily done so if it wasn't for 'Batista the imbecile'.

Yo, I'm with you, since I have been watching Argentina play from the 1994 wc - 2010 wc, it's the first time I have feel this optimistic about our chance..God have been good to Argentina from the group draw to our path to the final and Argentina also got favored with their location and game schedule..God have favored Argentina, its a blessing for us supporters..

Baker I don't care about odds either, but it is what it is, the majority of the football experts, see Brazil and Argentina as the top two teams come world cup 2014.

World cup odds.

Brazil - 3:1 chance to win

Argentina - 9:2 chance to win (basically similar as the Brazilian chances)

Spain - 7:1 chance of winning

Germany - 6:1 chance to win

Spain needs to beat: If they come first in group, 1/8 Easy, 1/4 Brazil, Semi Italy Uruguay or Colombia, Final Argentina or Germany. If they come second in group, 1/8 Brazil, 1/4 Holland or Chile, Semi Colombia Italy or Uruguay , Final Argentina or Germany. That's a tough group and playoff, if Spain wants to repeat, they have to beat the BIG DOG'S in BRAZIL this time, not even close to 2010

Argentina worst route to the final

1/8 vs France, 1/4 vs Germany, 1/2 spain/brazil

that's the worst it could get and thats if any of these teams finish 2nd in their groups.

I think Argentina got a better chance this time.

Alot of underestimating going on here for some powerhouses, some people make south America sound as "no man's land". Were in 2013 football has advanced, playing in a different zone of the world is not that great of a deal any more! These teams have well trained athletes that can cope with any environment and atmosphere! I believe elite European teams (Spain, Netherlands, Germany, Italy) are not going to suffer, they are well equipped.

Off topic, thought this article is interesting relates to our case with Romero. I agree with Buffon.

Kid, you are making too many conclusions base on assumtions. Are you referring to Spain-Chile friendly match?! Is that how you conclude that Spain struggle against Chile again? Because of the result of a friendly? You know that friendly matches are hardly anything to measure the power of a certain team seriously? Remember Argentina defeated Germany at their ground before the WC in a friendly, yet came out of the WC in a humiliating way by the hands of the same Germany. Not even losing to Brazil at the CC final assure that Spain lose again if they meet again at the WC.

Leoaimar you cant make the same comparison with Africa and South America..2010 was Africa first world cup, so history has nothing to do with Africa in my opinion, being that they held the world cup for the first time.

South American teams play better on their continent and its a fact, they always perform to their best..

1950: Brazil and Uruguay made the semis (Uruguay won the cup)

1962: Chile and Brazil made the semis (Brazil won the cup)

1978: Argentina and Brazil made the semis (Argentina won the cup)

2014: Brazil and Argentina will make the semis (Argentina winning a 3rd title)

This is all I got to say, Argentina will play all their 3 games at there base camp venue, Belo Horizonte and will also play their second round game at the same location..So this means less travelling for Argentina through to the round of 16, this will also be good for the travelling fans because the location is more closer to Argentina borders. The other contenders are going to be drained and beat up by the time they get to the quarters especially the European teams..

Brazil vs Argentina final...End of debate for me..

2 european teams played in the final & spain were the champions! germany finished 3rd.

@kid: ya holland should have won if robben took the easy chances. but spain had their moments too in that match. it was an even match until the extra time where spain dominated.
france 2002 & italy 10 werent strong as this spain side buddy. Spain are contenders not bcoz they are the reigning champs, its bcoz of their team & performance!

if spain still trying to play their tiki-taka with their aged players they wont reach any where , they have to use mata, carlozo, isco instead of xavi/iniesta

Chainsaw: Being the favorite and defending champ don't mean you will progress out of the group stage. Does France 2002 and Italy 2010 ring a bell? Come on now, Spain defeated Netherlands in Extra time and their wont be extra time in the group stage, and if it wasn't for some wonder saves from Casillas, the Netherlands would have been the champion back in 2010..

Spain will not progress and if they do Brazil will handily defeat them in the next round..Costa is decent but he's a bit overrated if you ask me...Spain when to Africa and struggle to get by some average teams..Spain also struggle against Chile in Europe earlier this year..I just don't see Spain beating Chile in Brazil, its like Spain were playing in Santiago (Chile) if you ask me..European teams are going to falter in this world cup..

Brave to put espana out of the competition. Well that aint gonna happen. They are now masters in the tournament & they've still got a great balanced team. It will spain & chile who will be getting out of this group with spain as the group topper.
The golden generation of holland is fading season by season & they have now an evolving team. Lots of youngsters coming in. Sneijder,Van der vaart combo isnt effective as the past. Their Defence is shaky but they've got three fantastic goalkeepers in sketlenberg, vorm & krul. If Van Persie & Robben can find their form in national colours they can cause upsets; but too much for spain & chile.

arg2014 I'm not sold on the Netherlands, I agree with you that Chile and Holland will progress but I see Chile topping group B, so Holland will play Brazil in the next round..

I see Holland and Spain playing to a draw in the first game..Chile will trash Australia like by 4 -5 goals and then go into their next game with a ton of confidence beating either Spain or Netherlands, depends on who they play in their second game. Chile is in a sweat spot because they got the lesser game for their opener, while the Dutch and Spaniard will go hard at it, risking all kinds of damage in their first game of the tournament..

Abs I don't like the position Campag was playing for Inter Milan today..Inter Milan formation was not convincing, I just didn't like how the coach used Campy on the field today..Campag made a vital block that would have made the score line 4 - 3 to Parma.

I don't know about you but Palacio compliment all our strikers..Palacio can play with any of our hit men up top, his pace and tireless running is also great, along with his goal scoring ability and skill he poses..Palacio scoring 10 goals in Serie A and you are saying you don't know the impact he will have on our team..Did you see Palacio vs Bolivia? It was his assist that led to Banega equalizer in La Paz, it was Palacio again who earn a penalty away in Quito..Palacio was also great against Bosnia, Italy and Peru..Palacio is fine for our team, a great sub if you ask me..Trust me, Italy coach Prandelli would have welcome Palacio with open arms for their NT if Palacio had the chance to switch nationality..We guys here on Mundo need to appreciate our players, the guy has 10 goals and for you he's still not convincing, I don't know man, thats just weird to me.

If Napoli had a creative player even as good as Higuain himself, Higgy would be scoring way more goals..The problem at Napoli, is that, Higgy tend to drop deep for the ball so he can try and create for Napoli, hence that hinder his goal scoring ability at times with Napoli..Insigne is too selfish, he's not creative enough and gives the ball away too many times..Napoli need a creative mid that can feed Higuain the ball, instead of having Higuain being the striker and playmaker at the same time..

Everybody was horrible for Real Madrid in that Cup game, Di Maria want out, so who give a darn about a Cup game performance against a third division team..Are players really motivated to play against third division opponents? Even if Di Maria had score 4 goals in that game he still wouldn't be a starter for Madrid, I just don't see Real benching their 100 million dollar signing for many games no matter what Di Maria does on the field..

Fernandez was having a great game up until the own goal, I don't know what happen afterwards because I didn't watch the second half..

I don't see Ricky Alvarez making the final 23 anyway, he was never in the running in my opinion. Talented player though, he will have a lot to offer Argentina in the future.

Biglia is an impressive player in my book, Lazio is just lacking an Identity at the moment, hopefully as you said they can rediscover their form after the winter break.

Rojo had a good game, he was caution with a yellow though..I have a feeling that Garay will be leaving Benfica in January.

Well the last time I can recall Aguero, Messi and Higuain playing together, they were great in both game home and away to Chile and also Sweden away, oh and I forget away in Colombia too..Against Paraguay it was just only Messi and Aguero which was an onslaught..So again you're trying to make a fuss where their isn't any to be made..

@Abs: part of me tells me that Brazil will meet us in the final but another part tells me that FIFA will favor a European team to make it to the final, and no one other Germany could take that spot. Germany vs Argentina in the finale.

Argentina will beat Netherlands, and Germany will beat Brazil in semis. This is my theory for now. I know Netherlands is underrated by many, but I bet on them to make it to the semis.

A review about some of our players during the weekend:

- Palacio scored two goals, and I can say assisted one, but I am still not convinced he will do any impact with the national team. I say that simply because he is playing a different role with Inter than with the Argentina.

- Campga, and Ricky were average against Parma.

- Fernandez had a horrible game, and scored an own goal, not good.

- Higuain didn't score, but as usual was an important player at Napoli's attack.

- Romero didn't play yet again, but for those who are calling for Willy, I just wanna illustrate that he isn't God, and just conceded three easy goals against Osasuna in about 20 mins.

- Couldn't catch Garay, and Rojo.

- Kun is still scoring for fun, and I just check his status with Man City in the EPL for this season. He played around 1,072 mins so far and scored 12 goals. He also have 2 assists. But my only concern, Kun doesn't play the same when he is up front with Higuain and Messi.

- Di Maria played around 60-70 mins against a very weak team in the Copa Del Ray, and he failed to make any difference. The news are suggesting he isn't happy with Madrid, but I don't see that. However, Di Maria seem to lose his starting position with the team, and I hope he finally decide to leave.

- Biglia and Lazio are still not picking it up, hopefully things will change during the winter break and the team finally find their best formation where Biglia become more comfortable with the team.

Here is what Conca said about Argentina's chances of winning the WC:

"We are looking to become the world champions and we have the confidence needed to win it heading into the competition".

World Cup dreams
Conca, who turned 30 years old on 11th this May, recently told a Chinese newspaper that he has dreamt of being called up to represent Argentina and play alongside the likes of Lionel Messi and Carlos Tevez. It remains to be seen whether he will make Alejandro Sabella's La Albiceleste at the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™, however, the mercurial playmaker can at least showcase his talents to the world at Morocco 2013. @Kid: This guy doesn't care a fig about Argentina, and that's why he starts with "I rarely watch Argentina, so I'm not sure how Marcos Rojo performs for his national team." You call that biased? Then he says "I do, however, watch Sporting CP on a regular basis and I can assure Argentina fans that..." So it's pretty obvious that he doesn't claim himself to be some albiceleste fan. Where is the bias here???

You might argue we can't judge a player without watching him for NT in the first place, but this man is clearly not interested. Can't you see that? He is just sharing his opinions based on what he has seen of Rojo in club football which, he says, he watches 'on a regular basis'. THAT'S ALL.

Not all comments on goal.com make sense. But not all on Mundo do either. So it's all about filtering. It's good to defend your team. You can over-do it as well, but don't mis-do it please!!

Deb I have hear third persons perspective on the internet all the time and they're bizzare at times..Like someone said '' Zabaleta and Demechelis are Argentina best defenders,'' mind you this person doesn't know that Demechelis haven't play for Argentina in over 2 years..They like to say too that ''Argentina has no midfield'' or ''Argentina has no defense.'' How can I take these people perspective seriously if they haven't seen Argentina play? And a lot of the guys on the web watch mostly the BPL, like they were saying how Belgium was better than Colombia because Belgium have a bunch of guys that play in England..All I'm saying is that I rather the discussion here on Mundo, even those who are critics here are better than those who post hate comment against Argentina and their players on other chat sites.

Deb the same guy who was criticizing Rojo said he haven't watch Argentina play, so is opinion is pretty bias if you ask me.

Some comment from goal.com (the thread was on Argentina's probable 23 for the world cup):

"I rarely watch Argentina, so I'm not sure how Marcos Rojo performs for his national team. I do, however, watch Sporting CP on a regular basis and I can assure Argentina fans that Rojo is by far Sporting's worst defender. He's athletic and decent technically, but he's absolutely clueless in terms of his defensive positioning. He frequently gets caught ball watching and he is extremely error prone.

Aren't there better alternatives?"

Just saying...

Kidulthood, everybody from the media, former players, fans.... who came out and said Brazil are favorites to win the WC, did so solely based on what happened in the confederation cup and nothing else.

Brazil played well while everybody else didn't even play close to their potential.

Spain, their silly Tika Taka WITHOUT any teeth.
Mexico, did they even know they're playing in the CC?
Uruguay, sorry Uruguay always falls short when you want them to perform.
Italy, should have beaten them IF they had any serious offense, like Rossi, Osvaldo and the kid whose name escapes me at the moment.

Point is, WC is not the CC.

On a different note, I downloaded FIFA 2014 on my phone few days ago and played Brazil yesterday, looking at the individual teams attributes, Brazil is only 2more points ahead of Argentina on the overall Defense, equal midfield, and of course a lesser offense.

I lost on PKs though because I suck.

Off topic: Being that Neymar is now playing in Europe, his play acting display at the last Confed Cup will be scrutinize a lot at the world cup come next year. At the confed cup ref seems to give Neymar the benefit of the doubt because they haven't seen him play outside of Brazil. Now that Neymar is in Europe refs are going to give him a hard time at the world cup, because they'll now see him(Neymar) show boating and diving more under their microscope.

I don't know if this was discussed already, but it seems DiMaria passed on both MU and Arsenal in favor of Monaco.

and I quote, "Real Madrid have revalued Manchester City's goal-crazy striker Sergio Aguero at a whopping £60million". (Daily Star Sunday)

Is Icardi playing today, anybody knows?

Abs I don't know man..Ancelloti was pretty upset when Di Maria took a long range shot..On Twitter I even see Madrid fans writing the same that Di Maria was upset, he might not have made a bust up like Tevez but Di maria is not comfortable at Madrid this moment in time..

This is what one of the biggest Real Madrid fan I know wrote on Twitter:

''Di Maria is upset. I don't blame him''

Fedes time at Napoli gna end soon if he continues to perform like this, I was one of his biggest supporters but this guy is not better than Colo (who played a great game v Manu) and Demi in my opinion.

here is the short version...
"In 2010–11 season Roma was administrated by UniCredit as Sensi family failed to repay the bank and the club was put into the market, which also saw Roma did not had major signing in 2010–11 season. Co-currently with no selling profit on the player, Roma net loss was enlarged to €30,589,137 (€30.778 million as a group) and the new owner already planned a re-capitalization after the mandatory bid on the shares. On the good side, the TV income was increased from €75,150,744 to €78,041,642 as well as gate income increased, from €23,821,218 to €31,017,179. It is because Roma entered 2010–11 UEFA Champions League which counter-weight the effect of the new collective agreement of Serie A. In 2011–12, the renewal of squad and participate in 2011–12 UEFA Europa League had worsen the financial result, which the €50 million capital increase was counter-weighted totally by the net loss.

One of the subsidiary of Roma (joint venture with SS Lazio, 37.5% x2 and Parma, 25%), Società Diritti Sportivi S.r.l. was in the process of liquidation since 2005. The company was a joint-venture of 4 football clubs including Fiorentina. However after the bankruptcy of old Viola, both Roma and Lazio had increased it shares ratio from 25% to 37.5%.

lamela had no choice as Roma were in debt and had to sell, Roma had to sell urgently or else face bankruptcy.
Tottenham were the only club wanting to buy him.

Well of course players go from bench to bench, that's what European money has done to us - they just keep buying our good players, no matter whether they use them in their teams at all or not - they get more players than they can actually put in a squad to the point that it's unavoidable to have players without a role; and players don't give two craps because they get paid anyway. The solution is fixing the huge political and economical problems surrounding our local league so these guys don't need to rush out of the country to just warm a bench for over a decade.

Majority of the Argentina HATERS on these chat boards are all Ronaldo fanboys, they hate Messi so much they take it to the national team..Oh, ''Messi never score at this world cup,'' ''Messi only score 1 goal at that world cup.'' ''Messi doesn't perform for his NT team.'' ''Argentina cant win, they don't have any defense,'' Argentina cant win they don't have any midfield.'' ''Argentina only have two good defenders, Zabaleta and Demechelis..'' I mean really? This must be a BPL fanboy, who haven't watch Argentina play..Demechelis of all person who haven't play for us in over 2 years.

All this distortion because of the hate they have for the genius Messi..But come 2014 all these haters will be in for a rude awakening from Messi. Cant wait for the world cup to start so I can see the reaction of these Internet fanboys, who loves to worship Ronaldo.

LAMELA HAVE MADE THE WORSE MOVE IN HIS CAREER..Going to SPURS was a JOKE!!!

AVB is overrated, he's not a great coach, yes he did a decent job at Porto but he has been terrible in the Prem..

Lamela please get out of that SINKHOLE :/

If Di Maria goes to City now, as good as he is, he'll still be competing for his starting spot at the beginning, so Monaco is a safer move before the world cup..he's going to walk right into the Monaco team without looking over his shoulders.

He's 20 years old and thinking with his dick. What a surprise. Unless it detracts from his ability to play, its normal.

Sabella has already stated he is worried about not having any height at the forward position outside of Higuain - I expect he will gauge Higuain's health near the Cup and put Icardi on the list of 30, or another tall forward, just in case something happens to have a target man should the need arise.

Icardi is still too young. Rash action on twitter can hurt his relationship with friends and teammates. Maxi is almost certain going to WC, so it's better if Icardi is not going.

Only one match remaining against Romania. We're lucky we played Bosnia, now we know how to defeat them and Iran isn't a threat at all.
Only Nigeria are the ones that would make it hard for us, but once again luckily it'd be the last match in the groups stage.

Icardi will be too inexperience for this world cup, we cant afford the same 2010 mistake..Cruz at the 2006 world cup was a target man as well, and he didn't do anything for us, he was experience back then for the team than Icardi is for Argentina today..
