Like many Malaysians today, I was all excited about this game and wasn’t going to miss it for the world.
Right from the start, this match was deemed to have all the ingredients that would make a great football match; passionate supporters, great atmosphere around the stadium, end to end action on the field. And truly it was indeed.
For a moment there were news that Matías CONTI would not be in action for the Final because of injury. However true to his Argentinean spirit, he was determined that he wants to play on this special occasion.
The Elephant Army could have taken the lead in the first half when CONTI had the ball with him right in front of the goal but he was unable to make the all important finishing. Deep down I knew that it would take a moment of magic for a goal to be scored in this game. And that moment came in the 59th minute when CONTI superbly headed the ball in to give his side the lead.
Deep down I had a feeling that would be the only goal of the night and it certainly was. A risk that has paid off for Dollah Salleh in trusting his injured Argentinean striker.
Kelantan FA did all they could to get that elusive equalizer but seems like tonight luck was not on their side.
In the end, it was all celebration among the sea of yellow supporters in the stadium. And if they have one person to thank for, it has got to be the Albiceleste hero on their side.
Hopefully Pahang would retain his service for next season as its going to be even more exciting with the arrival of a certain Albiceleste legend that is coming to our shore next year.
But for now, congratulations to Matías CONTI, Dollah Salleh and the entire Pahang team.
