KidultHood (United States) Posted on 9/10/2013 at 8:23 PM 0 Argentina go to #2 on the FIFA rankings if they win today.. Dfox (United States) Posted on 9/10/2013 at 8:17 PM 0 true true AND we'll move 3 points clear and of course need to score so we'll have 1 plus whatever goals we get tonight AND we'll pass them on FIFA ranking which comes out in two days. Alex (United States) Posted on 9/10/2013 at 8:14 PM 0 Besides making it easier for us to top the group, another benefit of Columbia's loss: Paraguay is eliminated now, they cannot catch Uruguay. They have nothing but pride now to play for. KidultHood (United States) Posted on 9/10/2013 at 8:01 PM 0 CONMEBOL qualifiers is the best in the world period..Colombia vs Uruguay is easily the best game of the entire qualifying today around the world. Dfox (United States) Posted on 9/10/2013 at 7:57 PM 0 Dumbass Colombia!! when you want them to win they lose and vice versa!Lets GO ARGENTINA, take no prisoners. argentuban (United States) Posted on 9/10/2013 at 6:57 PM 2 Lamela is not a forward. He is an attacking midfielder. I don't see him as a substitute for any forward on the team. Rather, as an attacking mid option for the right side versus left or in a 4-4-2 formation should they choose to use that in certain matches. If that is the plan, he certainly has the height for it as he is 6' like Higuain, but he doesn't much experience in a striker role.Palacio hasn't been given a fair shot on the NT, in my opinion, because he plays in odd positions or formations for him due to tactical changes (due to altitude or suspensions).Outside of Higuain, he is the tallest true forward in the regular list Sabella calls up at 5'9". Lavezzi and Aguero are 5'8". Messi is 5'7", on a good day :P. As for any complaint about the posts regarding player selections and tactics, that's what this forum is for. Otherwise, what would be posting about? Just repeating the same jargon about how great our players are?I think it's important to remember that Argentina is supposed to be at the top of the table in CONMEBOL qualifying, especially since Brazil is not in the qualifiers this time. Simply because Argentina has performed well below standard for so long doesn't mean a return to the norm should have us acting as though Sabella is the Messiah. Also, I would note that Argentina hasn't won in its last three qualifying matches. A worrying trend that has so far shown poor tactical maneuvering by Sabella. KidultHood (United States) Posted on 9/10/2013 at 5:19 PM 0 @LM10 My comment down below wasn't meant to be an insult. its the truth.. :) LM10 (United States) Posted on 9/10/2013 at 5:06 PM 0 Lol @kidulthood you dont have to take it that far man.. KidultHood (United States) Posted on 9/10/2013 at 4:48 PM 0 OutLaw please stop talking rubbish..Aquero is better than everyone on the entire Polish team put together. Messidona1986 (Lebanon) Posted on 9/10/2013 at 4:07 PM 0 @outlaw: Are you crazy calling Aguero useless? TAKE THAT BACK! Aguero is a beast with Argentina and has an excellent record with us. Dfox (United States) Posted on 9/10/2013 at 4:04 PM 0 "Aguero is a useless player who is really slow and he can not dribble" EXCUSE ME!?Are you watching football or Badminton friend?! Istiaque (Bangladesh) Posted on 9/10/2013 at 3:45 PM 0 Kudos vickerman. your posts are always great to read, keep on comming! LM10 (United States) Posted on 9/10/2013 at 3:36 PM 0 Argentina simply doesnt have a defined attacking plan unlike barcelona.. Before any games, I think Sabella prioritize his training on "how to defend" more than a "how to attack". Its been that way with Argentina for a while now where coach just aligns players and hope that they create something. And even during a game Sabella tends to make more defensive adjustment than attacking adjustments. This is just what I've observed outlaw (Poland) Posted on 9/10/2013 at 3:03 PM 0 Aguero is a useless player who is really slow and he can not dribble el principe (United States) Posted on 9/10/2013 at 3:02 PM 0 Messi's 2 partners, Higuain and Aguero upfront for Argentina are more predators than his Barca partners of Pedro and Alexis. Pedro and Alexis are supposed to give the ball back to Messi as the finisher unless they both are in a better position to score themselves. For Argentina, Aguero and Higuain are not selfish, but their killer instinct as 2 of the world best strikers allow them to score way more than Alexis and Pedro. For that reason, it is normal to see Messi score more for Barca and have more assist for Argentina. outlaw (Poland) Posted on 9/10/2013 at 3:01 PM 0 We need young, talented players to replace Mascherano. How Matias Laba (Toronto FC), Ezequiel Ciriglano (Hellas Verona), Matias Kranevitter (River Plate). Besides, I do not believe in Aguero, Biglia and Banega ... TheVickerman (India) Posted on 9/10/2013 at 2:02 PM 3 Hey everyone! Let's hope we get through this game with a good , morale-boosting away win and a clean, injury-free game! Here's a long post! Apologies guys:To those asking for Icardi, Lamela etc - it is a common desire for fans to expect to see young/new exciting footballers blooded into the game. I remember reading the old Mundo and the worldcupblog a few years back when we fans wanted to see Palacio blooded into the team! More recently (perhaps a little more than a year back), I remember many of us clamoring, demanding , almost praying that Biglia to be given a chance! There are always going to be such names. I am sure all of us were practically wetting our beds at the thought of Pastore being the new No.10. Of course, in the current space-time dimension, the flavours of the season are Icardi, Yacob, Peruzzi etc. While I am sure that many of these players will go on to be great stars, maybe it is time to place a little trust on the team management ? Is it possible that there is at least a plan or system of sorts in place by Sabella and gang? Just think about it... Palacio is finally producing in a top European league. Biglia, for all his qualities, was plying his trade in Belgium, and is now getting into the top league. Ansaldi is still a bit of an unknown quantity at the top level. Most of us have seen him in a couple of champions league matches, but that's about it. Who knows how he will produce week in and week out at the top level? The good thing is that he is versatile and he is in the squad. Yacob did well in West Brom last season, but I personally wouldn't really think of him as Masche's cover just yet. His positioning is good, but his passing and tackling still is a notch (or maybe even 2 notches) below. Perruzi? He got his transfer to Europe, but is now loaned out! Lamela is just 21, and he is in the squad! Pastore is struggling with confidence and for all his talents, he hasn't been consistent enough. I even remember many of us calling for names such as Tino Costa, Perotti, etc! I unfortunately have no explanation for the quizzical selections of Rojo, Sosa etc:-) (cough-Estudiantes-cough).I am not defending Sabella , far from it. But let's give the man a chance. As much as many of us may disagree with his tactics and selections, at least he seems to have a plan, and maybe even a back-up plan. That's more than what Batista, Maradona, and heck even Biesla (I love the man) had! Most of all, he has been getting the results consistently. Surely he is doing something right? For his plan and his strategies, maybe these are the players he feels work cohesively , AS A UNIT/SQUAD. The tournament will at least last 2-3 weeks for Argentina (hopefully longer), and it's in Brazil. Things can get volatile, and he needs the team to stick together, and trust each other. Sure, it may all fall flat in our faces. We may bomb in the world cup, just as we did after the fantastic qualification rounds in 2002. Who could have ever predicted that right? Biesla got the team playing like champions, and most of us were salivating at the thought of Arg lifting the cup! There is 1 critical difference though, between that team and this . In 2002 , we peaked well before the WC started. With this team, I get a feeling it's not even close to peaking , and they have gotten the results they wanted. Right time, right place. Let's give credit where credit is due and be patient. I am personally not expecting too many squad changes (possibly only 3-4 places up for grabs) from now to the WC. I am going to keenly follow how he gets them to adapt to different situations and game scenarios.VAMOS! Beat Paraguay!PS: apologies on the very , very long post! Amlan (Bangladesh) Posted on 9/10/2013 at 1:34 PM 0 @Mafioso: Are you sure Channel I will telecast in Bangladesh?? Dinucci (Argentina) Posted on 9/10/2013 at 12:26 PM 0 Most complete attacking player ever. KidultHood (United States) Posted on 9/10/2013 at 11:08 AM 1 Richard he scored goals against Uruguay, Chile,Colombia and Ecuador those are the teams currently in run for World cup qualification. ''Messi scored vs lesser teams?'' Leandro (United States) Posted on 9/10/2013 at 10:52 AM 0 Guys, if you go to Fifa.com they have a list of all the upcoming matches and they show the times. If you click on the top of the page it turns the times to your local time. Go here -> http://www.fifa.com/worldcup/preliminaries/southamerica/matches/index.htmlAs for the comment about Messi not scoring as much for us in the NT.. he is playing midfield (enganche) and giving assists to Pipita et al, ofcourse! Why are we worrying? I could care less if Messi did not a single other goal as long as he helps strengthen the team as much as possible. During Diegos WC people gave him shit for not scoring, yet almost every single dangerous play and goal where ochestrated though his feet. We have real #9's we dont need him to score like Barca does. Let the kid do his magic. He is a more complete player when wearing the NT shirt. Istiaque (Bangladesh) Posted on 9/10/2013 at 10:16 AM 0 @mafioso: The channel I commentators are total arse -_- baker (India) Posted on 9/10/2013 at 10:11 AM 0 it is 7:10 am in india , it is a good timing. but sony six is showing brazil match i think, Mafioso (Bangladesh) Posted on 9/10/2013 at 9:31 AM 2 Bangladesh match time:7.40 am,Wednesday (Sony six/Channel I) Richard (Netherlands) Posted on 9/10/2013 at 8:37 AM 0 Messi is without a doubt world's best player at the moment and this video proves it yet again! However, Messi usually scores most of his goals in matches against lesser opponents. No goals in the last 2 important qualifiers, but 3 against Guatamala. But he did score against Brazil.Rather worrying is the lack of goals in big tournaments. No goals in the last Copa America, no goals in the last World Cup. The goal in Copa America 2007 was his last one. That is more than 6 years ago... When Batistuta was his age, he had won 2 Copa America's, a Confederations Cup and a hattrick in the World Cup (against Greece). Hopefully Messi will start scoring many goals in the next WC. Fingers crossed. loquito (Iran) Posted on 9/10/2013 at 7:12 AM 0 Messi es Número UNO , sin duda Kutz (India) Posted on 9/10/2013 at 6:49 AM 0 Besides Sony HD is the game being broadcasted on any other channel in India ???? BA2LA (United States) Posted on 9/10/2013 at 6:39 AM 1 35 goals 25 assists for the senior National Team! The only other player in sports history that has that kind of scoring + assisting is Wayne Gretzky in hockey! Crazy to think ! Wayne's nickname is "The Great One" as Messi's should be as well! BA2LA (United States) Posted on 9/10/2013 at 6:31 AM 0 @shovwar. Game starts at 9:50 pm on the east coast... Jazz (India) Posted on 9/10/2013 at 6:18 AM 0 Its important not only to win agaist paraguay.to overall dominance Jazz (India) Posted on 9/10/2013 at 6:16 AM 0 I think instead of palacio and lavezzi we should try iturbe,icardi,p.dybala.let these guys be in nt.let them study from bench arg2014 (Canada) Posted on 9/10/2013 at 5:12 AM 1 I hope Lamela will be given some playing time. I'm tired of this Palacio/Lavezzi love affair already. marindrianto (Indonesia) Posted on 9/10/2013 at 4:29 AM 0 I love the video. MESSI is in process not change into but to add more. I am not surprise if he is deadly in passing and also shooting in the future. We have striker and playmaker together in him. Kenneth (United States) Posted on 9/10/2013 at 3:41 AM 0 As much as i love and miss the "classic enganche" for Argentina, i think it's pretty clear why Sabella hasn't called one up... shOvwar (United States) Posted on 9/10/2013 at 2:15 AM 0 When does the game start on Eastern Time? (New York) Anyone please? baker (India) Posted on 9/10/2013 at 1:30 AM 0 paraguasy score 7 goals in total in last 2 matches , it wont be an easy match for us for sure Jazz (India) Posted on 9/10/2013 at 1:10 AM 0 Agaist paraguay We should win in a 2 difference margin.try most not to concede goals Jazz (India) Posted on 9/10/2013 at 1:07 AM 0 Why sabella is still changing defenders.let him select zabaleta, mach, campagnaro(federico fernandes) ansaldi.let him always allow this defenders to play together for their compination Jazz (India) Posted on 9/10/2013 at 1:03 AM 1 Why cant we call requilme back.i saw his last match playing, even though he is slow he is still a great play maker baker (India) Posted on 9/10/2013 at 12:31 AM 1 lamela is too early to fit the boots of messi , if messi is absent we will switch to 4-4-2 formation by adding one more midfielders , it can be banega. Jazz (India) Posted on 9/10/2013 at 12:08 AM 0 I thinl its better to allow lamela in messis posession.let sabella vary his team without messi UTG_Moon92 (Brazil) Posted on 9/9/2013 at 10:22 PM 2 Long-haired Messi scored the most beautiful goals. Short-haired Messi scores the most number of goals. From Maradona to Batistuta with just a haircut. Just ask him how! Dfox (United States) Posted on 9/9/2013 at 9:39 PM 0 Sublime that's all I have to say.ahhh I miss long haired La Pulga.By the way if any of you never watched the you tube video tilted "Messi destined to be the best" watch it.
