Line-up for Argentina

Argentina's line-up is all but set is stone.

Argentina's line-up for the match against Venezuela should see Walter MONTILLO and Ezequiel LAVEZZI in the starting XI. The team should be the one that has been rumored all week long:

ROMERO; ZABALETA, GARAY, FERNANDEZ, ROJO; GAGO, MASCHERANO, MONTILLO; LAVEZZI, MESSI and HIGUAIN.

I'm watching the 1st half of the Spain match now, while waiting for the Argentina game to start. Indeed they took charge of Finland defensive field, but they have no penetration and variance through the middle of the penalty area. It's always by the sides. Del Bosque should've watched Barcelona vs Milan and put Villa as CF.
Btw, they miss Messi in these attack vs defense matches... There are no one-on-one attempts, and that, better than anything else, can break the tightest of defenses. Pedro's presence could've helped with that as well.

@JAck spain dominated the whole game...19 corners!! the whole game was played in the Finland penalty area!! however spains defense, much like Barcelona's, gave up three counters all game and they resulted in a goal, a horrible shot and what should have been a victory for finland in the 93rd minute!! Spain needs a Victory against France in Paris or it might be a second place home and home...

Colombia first and most important goal was a clear off sides! after that Bolivias will was broken and the goals stock piled for colombia...3 in the last 10 minutes...Argentina must score first as well against Bolivia and break the ridiculous idea that they can beat Argentina again....! lol

@Jack, Colombia looked good, not 5-0 good but good nonetheless. They'll probably get out of the group stage of the WC. At the risk of stating the obvious, Pekerman knows what he's doing.

Judging by what Montillo is playing for Santos, we'll miss Di Maria very much, so it'll be 2-1 tonight. (and of course, we'll miss Aguero as well)

France is looking quite sharp, if Spain do go down, the wheels might be coming off quite fast. Not saying they are going to miss out, still a lot to play and a playoff at worse.

Okay.... Colombia just hammered Bolivia 5-0.... I didn't catch a minute of that game. I wonder how we are going to play in La Paz.

@Jack, it was an intriguing match. Passing the ball around without a finisher doesn't amount to much and shows you how key Messi is to Barcelona. Hindsight's 20/20 but Del Bosque probably should've left Villa on though I have to imagine España won it at that point since Finalnad hadn't threatened up to that point.

Finland never looked intimidated, they just soaked up the pressure without panicking, hats off to them. España has to play France. I would wait to see the outcome of that game before declaring them to be in a bit of trouble.

Anybody catch the Spain game? They are in a bit of trouble, will probably be in the playoff. They drew 1-1 at home vs Finland and will have to play France in France. If France win that game, they will be 5 points ahead of them.

@Jack. Right, keep forgetting they only scored twice in that match. I'm still sticking with my unscientific prediction.

I'd say 3-1. When was the last time Argentina scored 2? Was it in Colombia? It's either 1 or 3 or 4 for Argentina. I'd go 3-0 or 4-1 if Agüero and di María weren't out.
