Lionel MESSI on the upcoming matches

Lionel MESSI spoke at a press conference.

Lionel MESSI spoke at a press conference and commented about the upcoming World cup Qualifying matches. Here's what he had to say:

"How to prepare for the Qualifiers? Same as always. First, we think about Venezuela, which is going to be difficult as they all are. when they have the ball, they know what to do and they have people who could put us in danger. We must take the initiative, we have to have the ball as much as possible and we have to continue doing what we've been doing up to this point."

"We don't want to think about Bolivia because we have a tough game to play first. We know what happened in Bolivia last time, it was a huge blow for us and we would like to change the image we left the last time we were there. I only have one experience and it's terrible."

About if the team will be qualified should they win both matches:

"I don't know if we'll be qualified, but it would be an important step. First, we have to think about the match against Venezuela. You always have to win at home and if need be, go to Bolivia and try to do the same."

Messi was heavey guarded in Caracus...3 or 4 men closing in on him...meaning that other players need to take advantage of the space that Messi will free up....In both games the key will be the first goal. If Argentina can deliver the first knock out blow, the under dogs will start doubting themselves! the longer the under dogs stay level or god forbid get the lead, the more confidence and passion they will play with..all im thinking is any game at home is a MOST win...so Vamos Argentina A ganar manana!!

I'll be more than satisfied with 4 points from the two games. Not even Bolivia is a pushover any more, and certainly not in La Paz. Winning two matches in a short period of time, with many of our players traveling a long distance to be in South America can be tough. Plus, this is new territory for Sabella without Aguero and Di Maria, as well as a possibly gimpy Gago.

It will be interesting to see if Venezuela and Bolivia really pressure the ball, and man mark like crazy a la Peru. I think that's the way to give Argentina trouble. So far, when given space, Argentina has chewed up the opposition.

Please Argentina for the love of everything Holy...get a clean sheet, let this be the stepping stone to finally "improving" our defense. Also a clean sheet in Bolivia would be more than impressive.

Most probably, Argentina will win this time at least for a 1-0. Messi speaking about having the ball as much as possible is a good sign. This is the only way to remove the burden from the defense.
