Happy Birthday La Brujita!
To some gifted, talented, visionary but to others controversial, hated, underachieved.

Some will choose to remember him during the zenith peak of his career back in the late 90’s and early 00’s when he was the midfield general for Sampdoria, Parma, Lazio and of course Argentina.

How about his time leading the midfield engine for his boyhood club Estudiantes de La Plata to winning in titles domestic, continental and almost on the world stage in 2009 against Lionel MESSI’s Barcelona?

And of course there is also those bad times in 2002 and his unsuccessful spell in England.

To summarize in one phrase , he is Argentina’s “Man of Mystery” . I’m sure we all have our personal opinions about him and I respect that.

But for me, with his playing days behind him, guess I would prefer to remember some of the most memorable moment. After all he did have his fair shares of great contribution for both club and country.

Here are a couple of those moments from the Little Witch

Scoring from a corner for Lazio in 1999 (?)

Scoring from a free kick for Man Utd against Bolton in 2001

BTW, I was trying to look a video of him doing the rabona skills, think it was against Chelsea in 2002 but was unable to find it.

So what is your memorable moments?

Anyway  on behalf of fans of Argentina worldwide, a BIG Happy Birthday shout out to the Little Witch! Vamos La  Brujita!

With all the withering criticism he has faced at times over the years, I always thought Veron handled it all with great professionalism.

La Brujita Veron!!! A hard nosed player. I always think and focus on the positives so with that in mind I’d say that he was one of my favorite players back in his good era. I always have love for all of them including the ones I dislike. Happy Birthday BRUJITA!!

I loved Veron, overall i would say he was a number 8, like Xavi, except defensively he was a bull dog and offensive a magician! Had everything to be a number 10 an everything to be a number 5! So i just like to settle in the middle...

@chainsaw: also if he wanted to play good he was real good too!!!!! I saw a match once in which he was playing against juventus and he was playing for man united. He was absolutely bossing the midfield! I mean Juve at that time were really good...he was bossing the midfield like iniesta+xavi alone!

A great number 10 that unfortunately will be remember by me on how he wasn't able to advance his Argentine team to the knock out phase of the 2002 World Cup. Who were the pre-tournament favorites in Japan..
