I think there's a reason why when British fans act out they're labeled "hooligans (in other words, criminals, outside of the norms civilized society) but when South Americans (or Africans, etc.) do it they're labeled "savages" (in other words, it's their nature, it's who they are).

Leandro, hits the nail on the head: colonial thinking.

All people can resort to savage ways given a certain situation not just South Americans! As a south american i am insulted! Even the gentleman of Britain have to deal with English hooligans or the discipline of the German people have hooligans as well.....please don't let a select few make the whole bunch bad! We are passionate people with a lot of pride who demand respect ...unfortunately a few South Americans as well as African, European and Asians lose control of their emotions in extreme futbol situations! Lol

Or look at the Black Friday tramplings in the USA. People are all sheep-monkeys.. internationally. To say one group (of millions of individuals) is less civilized than another is colonial thinking. Stereotypes are ok when you use them as 'frosting', or 'coloring'.. but blanket statements are always wrong.

Example of "savages" look at Canada..normally deemed a neutral friendly people..the moment their Hockey team loses in the playoffs RIOTS are everywhere.

I'm happy with Messi, he will surpass Di Stefano record very soon. He is under scrutiny now because Barca has lost several times, but I believe Messi will bounce back. He needs the challenge.

For the savages Brazilian (or South America?), I think we always have fanatics who resort to violence everywhere. But it depends on the team they support, if the team plays well but is robbed of victory, they may get angry with the opponent/referee, but if the team itself is playing poorly who could be blamed? But I would suggest the manager and some players to escape for the mean time except if you are Maradona and you are from Argentina, LOL.

Something like that has happened. It's called the Maracanazo. 2014 will be Maracanazo part two.

tell me what you guys think. My friend was telling me that the world cup is rigged, and next years winner will be Brazil. She was telling me this because people there(like in many south american countries) are savages. If Brazil doesnt i think people will die. I really hope we win it we need to! but this argument makes sense.

Leandro you hit the nail right on the head, infact the ways by which milan and madrid have beaten Barca remind me of Dunga's Brazil when playing against Argentina. I personally believe that the absence of Tito is the main factor in Barca's dip in form, as the team clearly does not lack talent but they do lack the tactics (something that vilanova specializes in) to get over the hurdles that the teams are putting before them.

@Notoraj, while i mostly agree with you.. Barca has not been doing themselves any favors. These loses to teams that sit and wait (Madrid especially, betraying their natural style)is largely due to Barcas dullness. Sharper knives would have cost those teams A LOT more headaches. Barca needs more shots, more danger situations created.. until that changes they will be depended on luck (IE, Ref) more so than their own ability. Champions make their own luck.

I think its appropriate that 2 Argentines dominate one of world football's great rivalries.

shame really..as that was a penalty for barca and messi should have had a chance to score another....still Madrid defense was smothering and the few chances they had were capitalized on... Xavi needs to be healthy in 10 days time against Milan and hopefully barca's midfield can regain their magical touch...

Quite a nice goal, a lot of technique he took the shot on the dribble with a little bit of power and a lot of accuracy, nothing Ramos could do and definitely nothing the goalie could do.
